This was my second visit to the restaurant, and unfortunately, both experiences were disappointing. The first time, I ordered an old-fashioned that fell flat and lacked any real depth of flavor. On my second visit a year later, I decided to give it another shot--this time opting for the traditional version instead of the smoked one. It was better, but still only average at best. It was also served warm, and the ice melted quickly, suggesting the glass or drink wasn't properly chilled. The martini was also underwhelming--it tasted mostly like juice, with little to no noticeable alcohol. As for the food, the starters were definitely the highlight. The French onion soup was actually very good. However, the main courses didn't live up to expectations. I ordered the steak medium rare, but it came out closer to medium well--overcooked and under-seasoned. The chicken Vesuvio was also disappointing; the sauce tasted like it came from a jar, and neither it nor the rice stood out in any meaningful way. On a positive note, the ambiance was very nice. The lighting created a pleasant atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I found the food mediocre at best. I literally regretted not going to a different restaurant after I started to eat. The prices seem high for the quality. I had salmon dinner with wine. The calamari appetizer seemed slightly undercooked with a little slime(slipperier than normal texture) to it. I like to consider myself a self-certified foodie. I will pay a lot for good food. This place completely hit the mark for us this past weekend. We celebrated our anniversary (no free desert like every other place but that's ok). The foot was outstanding. We started off with the lemon rice and the chicken vegetable soups and side salads. I got Greek dressing she got ranch. These were complimentary with our meal and very tasty. We got the special which was 6 oz filet and three coconut shrimp with a side. Cooked to perfection and the shrimp were huge! I likewise don't believe that the quality of the food was up to the cost of it. Plus my wife was somewhat disappointed with the menu options. We walked in 5:45pm on a Saturday evening w/no reservations. Restaurant was very full, but they seated us immediately (we will make reservations next time!) Our server, Amy, took care of us tonight and everything was wonderful, steaks perfect again of course! ... such a busy evening there yet the service was still impeccable. We both had filet mignon (he had it Theo's special filet topped with crabmeat, and our chefs bearnaise sauce). I had the chicken noodle soup, he had lemon rice. I had the worst experience that I have ever had in a restaurant. First, I did not have a problem with the price because it was $60.00 per person and I paid for my daughter, son, and daughter-in-law, as well as myself. They were very unprofessional. One waitress came out and stated that we could order onions and mushrooms on our steak, but that would be an extra charge, if the bride state it was okay. I went to the bride, and they told her that it would be an extra $10.00, I gave her $15.00. So, at that point, they came out and took our orders and among the 4 of us we ordered a steak medium well with just a little charred on it. Well, I had to wait because the waitress came out and stated that they had charred it too much and they had to put me another one in. Now it is half an hour later and everybody in the place is complaining because now they are coming back stating that you can't order the onions or mushrooms that they have already given to the bride. Don't nobody want to go back and say give it back 1 /2 hour later, so we let her keep it. My steak came out burnt. Also, the waiter came around with water and one of the people at my table had gone out to the bar and purchased her a drink and he poured water in her glass that already had her drink that she paid for, and he told her that he would replace it. Then the manager whom I sent a picture of to the store came back and said she would get another drink, well she went back to the bar and purchased another and was waiting for the one that they were supposed to bring to her. So, I asked the manager if they could replace my steak and she threw her hands up in the air and stated that it is what you ordered and walked away. My daughter-in-law was so upset her husband had to make her be quiet because she was so mad at the lady who talked to me like that, and she travel all over the world and I have never seen her get upset like that. Everybody in the room complained about the services, we asked whether we could go out and order it from outside and still pay her and they kept telling us that we couldn't. I was so angry and I did not eat at all, and I only eat once a day and I had the worst service that I have ever had anywhere and we traveled all over the world. First, that Manager owes me an apology and I would like to meet with you concerning this, because it was so unprofessional, and maybe it was because of our race, I do not know, but at this point we all are saying I will never go back to Theo's. I feel that even if it costs extra, because not everybody eats steaks with onions or mushrooms on it, we still paid her $60.00 for their meal, that should have been able to order anything else. One lady just wanted a salad with any meat, just some lettuce, tomatoes, and croutons and they told her that they could not accommodate her with that. My god daughter that got married her son does not eat meat and she was able to just get him some noodles. I feel that even if we paid the $60.00 for the meal that we should still had been able to order something else, and not only that one waitress should not be able to tell you that you can order onions or mushroom on your steak and then the other one come back and say no. We did not care about the extra charge, and I feel we should have been able to order appetizers if we wanted them. A lot of us had not eaten all day, getting off the plane and going to the wedding and straight to your place and this is the service we received. I am not just complaining just about myself, but for my family, your staff need training on what they can or cannot do before entering that room and one person says one thing and the other one is saying something else. I have never been to any place where the manager did not try to rectify the situation or just remove that price off the bill. I sent a you the picture of the manager that was in charge I guess, but she was the one that threw her hands up in the air and said that is what you ordered. I order my steak chard everywhere and it has never been burnt, and they want me to except it, and I did not eat one thing on the plate. I just paid for something that I could not eat. Your place was very beautiful and that was my first time there, but that was a horrible experience, but when you went out of the room the bartenders and all the other people were so nice. I do not feel that the people that were working back there in the room can handle 50 people and one time ordering, but they should have been a little more accommodating. I know she had to pay $3,000.00 for just the people and a tip, but I don't feel that she got what she paid for. I frequent Highland, Indiana often as a Chicagoan to get gas, shop and eat. I've passed by this place many times wondering how the place was. My friend and I wanted to get together and looked into a place to dine and I thought "why not finally try this place" and so on 7/21/23, we went. We walk in and the ambiance was so perfect - dimly lit, nice music softly playing in the background. Staff immediately greeted us and brought us to our table. We had a very friendly yet professional waitress who made our experience even nicer. She was well versed in their menu and gave good recommendations. I am a picky eater and I must say, everything I had from here was DELICIOUS!!! I was so impressed with this place. I noticed that there was a private room beautifully decorated. My friend saw that it was for a wedding event so this is a great offering if you are looking to have an event at a nice place with good food. I can't wait to visit this place again. These 4 stars are specifically for the staff. They were amazing!! From being greeted by the host all the way to the ones that came to get our plates and box up our leftovers for us. We were there celebrating a birthday. So it was about 10-12 of us, 5 being kids. Our waitress was friendly and patient with them as she took their drink and food options. The host joked with them at the door. He came to the table and had playful bets with them and gave them suckers on the way out. Food was BLAND!!! Nothing was nasty.. just could've been better. I thought it was just me being a "gotta have seasoning on my food type person" but when I looked up everyone is waiting for others to finish with the salt and pepper so they can have a turn. Kids didn't seem to have a problem with their chicken tenders and fries though. Oh, my lobster bisque was pretty good! Overall, it's a nice and comfortable dining experience. Visited for Father's Day after a friend recommended it as she has raved about Theo for at least a year. The food was definitely mediocre at best and very very expensive for what the meal was itself. I was so disappointed after hearing my friend rave about it but wouldn't go back again. The calamari was rubbery, my house salad was good, lemon rice soup was tasty but the lobster bisque for an extra $17 per bowl was salty and gritty. I asked for my strip steak medium rare. It definitely came in medium to medium well. my brother's prime rib was gigantic, but the fattiest piece of prime rib I've ever seen. He could barely find any meat to eat and my dad prime rib was the butt end of meat because he does like it a little bit more well cooked and in that case you get what you get when you order prime rib well done-- that's on my dad. Our two desserts were of epic size but tasty. Service was ok. Wine by the glass was reasonable. Room was very dark and odd. Needed an overhaul. Not welcoming and seemed to be attached to a banquet hall-- so glad we didn't get seated there. So very very disappointed for a meal with tax and automatic tip for 3 people at $373. OMG this place is amazing. The food and service are just spectacular. We celebrated my 50th birthday here and there were a lot of us the table. Our bill was over $1000. We had lots of drinks all the appetizers and huge portions of food mostly steaks. We even had a dessert at the end, which we really didn't need, but we wanted to try them all. The service was fantastic. It was so good. We made friends with our server and even shared cookies from our birthday celebration. We definitely had a reservation at a place in the back of the restaurant. It was kind of loud but it was to be expected because there's so much space in open areas, but honestly, you can still have a conversation with people nearby and you can still hear fine. This was my first time here and I will go again. For it to be a Fri night it was not as crowded as I would have thought. This place is a hidden steak house. Because compared to some places downtown this food tasted better. I would consider this place to be intimate due to the lighting. Our server was attentive. Her name was Andrea, if I'm not mistaken. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and cooked with good flavor. Thankfully, at this restaurant you actually get sides with your meal and do not have to purchase a la carte, pleasant surprise. I had lemon rice soup and my friend had the lobster bisque. No complaints. The only complaint I have from the night were the drinks. You could barely taste any alcohol, a bit sweet and watered down. I've been supporting Theo's Dining Group locations for several years now and have always been pleased with the quality of food and service. On Saturday, 5/10, I made reservations for Theo's to take my girlfriend out for dinner. We were both pleased with the quality of service and food, however, our overall experience started to decline when brought the bill... Back in November, Theo's promoted a Gift Card special on Facebook where I would get two $25 Bonus GIFT CARDS if I purchased a $100 Gift Card. I was finishing up my holiday shopping, so I thought this was a great idea. I didn't only see this as a great gift, but also a way to continue supporting local business. I provided the server one of our bonus GIFT CARDS as well as my credit card to cover the difference. She returned with a sad look on her face letting us know that the gift card cannot be used. I asked why and she informed me that management told her that this was not a GIFT CARD and that they would not accept this special "Discount" over Mother's Day weekend. She showed me the back of the GIFT CARD where it stated that this could not be redeemed on Holidays. I then explained that Saturday was not a Holiday and that Mother's Day was on Sunday. She then explained that she was only telling us what the manager told her. I then asked if I could speak with the manager and she said she would try to bring her over. The manager (Chris) arrived to our table and had an irritated look on her face from start to finish. I asked her for a better explanation as to why this could not be used and she jumped right into "THIS IS NOT A GIFT CARD AND WE WILL NOT BE PROVIDING DISCOUNTS ON A HOLIDAY" I showed her the November Facebook advertisement calling this a "Gift Card", showed her that the card I was given in November says "Gift Card" on it , and that Saturday was not a Holiday. She continued to argue that this is not a gift card and she will not be accepting it. At this point, it wasn't worth my time. The manager found this as a benefit to get her way and that a $25 Gift Card was not worth retaining a customer. That's really sad, especially with how many dining options there are in NW today. We came here last week with a couple of other couples and had such a great night. We ordered the tomahawk steak, crab legs, lamb, and lobster. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The tomahawk was carved tableside, which was such a cool touch, and all of the seafood and meat tasted incredibly fresh. The service was next level. Our waitress Ashley was outstanding. She was professional, attentive, and somehow knew what we needed before we even had to ask. Drinks stayed full, plates were cleared right on time, and she made the whole evening flow perfectly. I started off with the lemon drop martini and it kinda tasted like sweet lemon medicine but I drank the whole thing so it wasn't too bad. The lemon rice soup was good! I came here with my family after church. It was their suggestion. I really wish they would have listened to mine. I ordered a saganaki, a porterhouse steak, a salad and a loaded baked potato. The saganaki was the star of the show. Very tasty and everybody loves it lit up and yelling OPA! The porterhouse steak, of which was cooked med well, was tougher than the '85 Bears defense! I'm glad I lift weights! The salad and the potato looked and tasted like it was borrowed from Texas Roadhouse. And for the life of me, I can't understand why all of this bad food came to over $100 for one person! On the other hand, nice parking lot, accommodating for large groups, families and banquets. I heard some good reviews about Theos and decided to try them myself. Over the last year or so we did stop by three times, each time saying the same thing. Maybe next time it will be better. Unfortunately after each visit I was less and less impressed. The last time we only stopped in for drinks. The bar prices are steep and drinks are nothing to brag about. What I didn't like is that the bar tender came across super standoffish and at one point rude. Overall the food is just ok. I tried everything from appetizers to steaks and fish. At the end of the day I came to a conclusion that Theos is just a FANCY DINER. I can't think of one dish that would bring me back. read more

I was celebrating my husband's birthday today at Theo's, a popular steakhouse restaurant known for its cozy ambiance. Our bill totaled $84.00 and some change, which I paid using a $100.00 gift card I had purchased earlier. I handed the gift card to our waitress, expecting the balance to be $16.00. However, she returned with a receipt indicating a remaining balance of $34.00, which I knew was incorrect. I told her so, and she responded, "Let me go check," then disappeared for a few minutes. When she returned, she reiterated the same incorrect amount. To clarify, I showed her the receipt for my gift card confirming it had a remaining balance of $100.00 initially, but it should have been reduced appropriately. She then said, "Let me check again," but she did not return my gift card--because it still had $50.00 left on it. A few moments later, she came back with an elaborate story claiming that the restaurant's gift card machine erroneously deducted $50.00 at once, which I found extremely suspicious. I was left staring at her in disbelief, thinking she might be confused or misleading us. I would have given this restaurant a five star had it not been for the rip off. My friends and I split the bill three ways, because it was 3 of us. The total bill was approximately $358 (which included gratuity and tax), I gave the waitress Jennifer $240 in cash. So why was $133 charged on my card? She and the older lady with the short blond hair want to convince me that that was the correct amount charged to my card. The math is NOT mathing. It appears that Jennifer not only received $51 in gratuity, but approximately an additional $13. The service was good, but not that good! I don't mind tipping, but I don't like to be ripped off. Jennifer kept fast talking about how she took her gratuity out and then charged my card. Either way, no more than $120 should have been charged to my card and of course I couldn't see the original bill. read more

Moved to Munster six months ago from Chicago and believe this fine dining establishment competes well to some of best steak houses in Chicago area. Great service, menu and cocktails. Went for the first time and maybe I shouldn't have chosen a holiday. Due to the holiday they opened up their party room which was nice but it was so brightly lit it took away from the ambience you get in the front of the restaurant. The service we had was spot on. Melissa was there every time we needed anything and the other staff were quick to whisk away all unwanted items. The raw oyster s were good but small and not shucked well. The Rockefeller were very tasty but again small in size. The soup and salad were good and the filet was cooked perfectly. Overall the food was fine. We didn't try the desserts. The smoky old fashioned was good except the smoke machine didn't work at the table so the show was cancelled. With other steak places in the area I am not sure we will be back. read more

Everything was clean and somewhat classy looking throughout. The staff was on point. Bread was brought immediately to the table and our drink orders were asked for almost immediately. Our waiter was named Luke. A fine handsome young man who was as professional as any waiter I've dealt with in my life. He constantly checked in on us to make sure we had what we needed. Water glasses were refilled constantly, my soda would be almost half done and a new glass was already on the table. It's what you want when you go out to dine properly. Food: was amazing. Their bread was fresh, their salad was crisp, the soup was sensational. I had the French Onion and my wife had the Lemon and the Rice soup. My wife had the King Crab legs as did I. My wife said she never had better tasting crab. I also had the steak. It was the Filet. It was med-rare as I requested. So good. We couldn't eat it all. Ended up taking some home. Well well well; it's that time of the year my Tribes annual December birthday dinner. This year my Brother chose the restaurant his (dob: 12/19) so he chose Theo's Steak House in Highland, In. Me personally, had not heard of it before now. So Glad that he did, the Food was Great served with Warm bread & butter to start things off. Appetizers were ordered along with some Good drinks. We ordered the crab cakes and the stuffed shrimp (even though that's not what they're called on the menu. For drinks, we had an Apple martini, Smoked old Fashion and wine. There were No complaints about any of them. The place is Beautifully decorated with Christmas decor all over inside & out. I can't remember our Waitress's name but she was Delightfull , kind and very personable. The manager, did come to our table and asked how everything was; he was kind as well as the cute Hostess. I did manage to take a few pictures but was so excited to try my food that I didn't take any pictures of it. I would Definitely Recommend Theo's for some Awesome Food. read more

Theos is a cozy, upscale restaurant located in Northwest Indiana. It is on the busy strip of Route 45. However, upon entering, you get the same classic white linen, a great wine list, and a culinary menu of good meat cuts. The service was great, with timely attention and pleasant staff.
