My sorority planned a 40th Anniv party at Sette Osteria recently. We were scheduled to have a private room for our group but once we arrived, we were told they made a mistake and someone else had the room. Interestingly, they held us to the two meal selection and the meal was salmon or chicken. The food was marginal and the cost expensive. We were very disappointed knowing that our event was changed and that we would not have had the privacy to celebrate as we initially thought. No discounts were offered and one of the guests found a hair in her meal. I would strongly not recommend dining here. read more

Came for dinner with a party of 9, overall the food was decent, but the customer service was lacking. We looked at the menu ahead of time and picked the location for the abundance of vegetarian options. When we arrived we were told we had to order off of the group menu and could not order off of the regular menu that we had our heart set on. We were confused and asked for clarification, since the restaurant was not busy at the time and the group menu was still individual dishes and not family style. The manager said it was easier for the kitchen and then pointed to a vegetarian dish on the group menu and said "you can have this." It just didn't many any sense because if we were sitting at separate tables we could have ordered off of the full menu like everyone else in the restaurant, or if we didn't make a reservation ahead of time we wouldn't be restricted to the 'group' menu. I was just disappointed at the way this was communicated to us..no apology, taking the time to properly explain, or even attempting to try to make us happy (we paid the normal pricing or everything and were willing to pay more for what we wanted). Overall the interaction with staff just gave us a sour taste in our mouth for the rest of the night. read more

My friends decided to try this place for my birthday because Barcelona was way too packed. The manager was a great guy but a lot of what ensued was beyond his control. Apparently you need to ask for bread. And after waiting over an hour the food finally came...at least some of it. Entrees before appetizers, lost orders....complete mayhem. I was one of the lucky few to actually receive a meal. While the meal wasn't bad the service was poor. My friends went so far as to cancel their orders because it was taking too long....and I can't blame them. I can only hope they will learn from this review read more

I just flew into town and only wanted something to eat. Italian sounded good and the hotel clerk said he really liked Sette Osteria, so I gave it a try. I eat Italian quite often and this meal was one of the best ever! The seasoning in the tomato sauce was absolutely spot on, and I liked that they gave a small dish of Parmesan cheese so I could have as much as I wanted. The meatballs were great and the bread sticks were the perfect texture and flavor. I gave them 5 stars, not because I think they are the best (I haven't eaten in every Italian restaurant) but because I don't care if the meals ever get any better than this -- and I'm not sure they can! read more

Went on a Sunday night to take advantage of their happy hour. In addition they had their pizza special. For the limited list of small plates you would do better to order a larger portion from the main menu. I would suggest the yummy pumpkin ravioli and meatballs, and of course the pizza. Went on a Friday night around 7:30pm. Didn't have a reservation and sat immediately. I ordered the mussels and clam appetizer and the prosciutto brushetta small plate. Both were really delicious! Also ordered the sangria and that was great too. A lot of people on here complainjng about the service but our service was really good and the food came out quick so I guess they got the memo. But my boyfriend's mom ordered the ceasar salad with shrimp and it was tiny! Someone else on here complained about that so I guess I should have warned her. It can't cost that much to throw in some more iceburg lettuce and maybe a cherry tomato so I'm a bit surprised. Besides that though, I would definitely go back. My friends and I went here for their "bottomless brunch". We went for extensive periods of time without receiving refills for our drinks despite asking the staff at the restaurant for refills. After having 4 rounds of their watered down mimosas and bellinis we received our check and were told by our server that the manager had cut us off. We were a larger party but we had not been belligerent like other tables around us. When we later found the manager and asked her why we had stopped receiving service she informed us she thought we had been over served. The restaurant has a 2 hour bottomless policy but what they neglect to tell you is that after having a few mimosas you will stop receiving service. It would be one thing if our group had been obnoxious or rowdy but we were not. I would NOT recommend going here for groups looking for a positive brunch experience or a restaurant with good service. The management of awful and the service is extremely poor. read more

Pizza is very sloppy. After 5 minutes the slices are completely soggy. Beers are also really small. Not a great place.

Nutella flatbread crabcake sandwich and bottomless mimosas make a perfect brunch. Excellent service as well.

Sette Osteria is right around the corner from my home, so I've eaten there several times. My all time favorite dish is the eggplant parmesan is -- rich, cheesy, and an ample portion. If you had a side of pasta, you could actually share it. My friend enjoyed the fettucini alfredo, although he said it was so rich he could not finish it, and took half home. I've enjoyed, several of the appetizers, including the seafood carpaccio (a special favorite, although it's a bit skimpy), and the fried calamari (very plentiful). The service here is very good and friendly, but not intrusive, which is just the way I like it. Bottles of wine are reasonably priced (several under $40). Eating here is quite enjoyable, and I look forward to my next visit! read more

We have tried Sette three times, since it's really near where we live, but no more. The food struck my partner and me as something we'd expect to find at a suburban chain (if we ever went to such places). It's mediocre in the truest sense of the word, and sadly, the service wasn't much better. For similar money you can have infinitely better Italian food within a few blocks at Ghibellina, Etto, or even Lupo Verde. Sette desperately needs rethinking. read more

I stopped in today for a quick break from up the street. It's a rainy day, but I wanted to be outside, and I could, assured that the tables under the awning would not get wet. I was comfortable. We live in Logan Circle and our favorite place for Sunday brunch is Sette Osteria, Logan Circle. The selections are varied, cooked fresh and served timely. It's also the favorite for my 3 year old granddaughter! I figured out she likes it so much because it's "children" friendly-- the staff remembers her and she remembers them! But, I had never eaten dinner there until recently. My brother from California was looking for a restaurant along 14th Street with a great outdoor seating area. Food was fine but overpriced and bland (and actually not what we ordered) the one time we almost accidentally ate there but here are more grand tips in hopes that management reads them - tips to not go out of business among the competition on 14th St.; -Clean - I was walking past the restaurant on the way to the gym this morning at 6:00am and noticed a dried piece of pasta on one of the seats -Clean - the windows and doors look like they'd be sticky - yes the glass is so dirty that it's visible pretty much every hour of the day -Have a decor - yes, you have the logo on the windows but...that's about it. Maybe have a style, some semblance of something. Compare yourself with ANY of the restaurants nearby - there is NOTHING in the restaurant that doesn't look like you bought it from a restaurant that failed at a bad hotel in Ohio. Chairs: boring, tables: boring, artwork: boring, flooring: boring, lighting: boring, style: boring. -Plant something outside - even the plants on your patio look half dead - did you buy these on sale at Home Depot last Fall? -Put some soap in the bathroom - if I can't wash my hands, I'm not sure how the cooks are doing so? The food and drinks were good. We all enjoyed what we ate. However, I had made a reservation for 9 people for a bachelorette party and had called the place in advance to let them know we were running late because we mixed up the location with the one on Connecticut Ave. When I called, there was no one answering the phone so I had to leave a message. We also had the other restaurant call them and let them know we were on our way but were running a little late because of the mix up. We showed up 10-15min late. When we arrived, we found out that not only did they mistakenly give our table to another bachelorette party, one that was only 5 people, they also had no tables available to accommodate our large group. Instead of explaining what was going on, the manager just told us he would sit us soon and to just wait by the bar while they set a table up for us. An HOUR later, the manager told us it would be 10min before our table was ready. That was after having spent the last hour telling us it would be 10 more minutes. During that hour, we had the bartender tell our party we could not wait by the bar unless we were paying costumers and asked us to move. Where exactly should we move to wait? And since when is waiting for a table not considered a paying costumer?? We also had no one at the restaurant offer us some appetizers or to take a look at the menu so we could order something while we we waited since we were all pretty hungry. I even asked the hostess to tell me why we were still waiting to be seated and she would tell me "let me check" and never come back to give me an answer. I found this to be incredibly rude and unacceptable. We were 10-15min late due to a mix up w the location and we called several times to inform you. If i made a reservation and your hostess made a mistake with the seating, you should have been up front about how long the wait for a new table would've been and offered us some appetizers while we waited to be seated. I shouldn't have had to have a serious discussion with the manager an hour into the wait telling him we were leaving in order to be seated. They did give us a complimentary round of champagne, bruschetta and a dessert ONCE WE SAT DOWN. We appreciated the gesture, but by that time we really just wanted to eat and leave. We would've spent more time eating and drinking and in turn spent more money at the establishment had they handled the situation and treated us better from the start. It was too little too late. Unfortunately, the experience with the staff was so negative that I will not be returning to this restaurant. The food was good, which is a shame because I would've loved to come back and try all the other entrees on the menu. But if I'm going to be treated differently because I don't look like I hold a black AMEX card, then I rather spend my AMEX money elsewhere. Our server was a sweetheart and we made sure to tip her well as this was not her fault. But she and the food were the only redeeming qualities to our experience here. Consistently good food with good service. Had an excellent dinner last night. The warm bread basket is a 100% improvement over the previous iteration. The carbonara and fava bean pasta dishes are excellent, and can offer enough (although not too much) for a respectable leftover, not that it often makes it into a to-go container! Do yourself a favor and hold the onion on the carbonara to make it delicious. Far and away one of the best dishes they serve is one of the simplest to make - the rocket and fennel salad with pecorino. Never disappoints. read more

Looking for somewhere different for dinner right before New Year's, we made a reservation on Open Table and were seated promptly when we arrived by a Ukranian hostess with lots of personality. The menu has a wide variety of Italian dishes, which made selection difficult for yours truly. Our waiter, Toufik, suggested the calamari--a good choice. It was lightly breaded and tasty. I had the shrimp scampi and a salad. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and I was delighted to discover the dish also had scallops--if they were mentioned on the menu, I missed it. They were delicious as well as the accompanying freshly baked bread. My dinner companion had the spaghetti and meatballs. We were impressed by the flavorful meatballs and sauce. The service was attentive and cordial. Planning a return visit later this month. read more
