I went here for my birthday lunch. The food was amazing and VEGAN! Yum. The atmosphere was fun. The staff gave great recommendations and that lavender lemon drop martini! I'm excited about my next dinner there.

This is a cute little restaurant with a wide selection of options. The waitstaff were all very nice and had recommendations. The cauliflower was cited as everyone's favorite and I can see why. A good cauliflower wing seems like it should be easy but there is a lot of variation. The first few bites of the general tso cauliflower were amazing. So crisp and flavorful. By the end it wasn't as crisp which is to be expected but definitely not as good as those first super hot crispy bites. The lentil soup was great if not a bit simple. Something I can imagine eating at home, not in a bad way. The mock tail I ordered was a bit too sweet and I couldn't really taste all the flavors it was supposed to have in it.

Seva is a great spot for brunch, lunch or dinner in midtown. It's vegetarian, not vegan, so there's plenty of cheesy goodness to be had if you want it! There's a range of options, from "standard American fare that happens to be vegetarian" to tempeh, seitan, faux meat, and dairy alternatives. The daily special on our last visit was butternut squash lasagna, which was made with fresh pasta and goat cheese, and served with balsamic glazed roasted Brussels sprouts. It was INCREDIBLE and well worth the higher price. Don't sleep on the daily deals - for example on Wednesdays all draft beer is half off! Service can be quite slow, so let your server know if you're in a hurry. Otherwise, excellent option for dinner before a show at the Majestic!

General Tso’s Cauliflower - on the sweet side but very good.

Seva is a great, unassuming spot to meet friends for no meat. Fantastic food, that just so happens to be vegetarian & vegan! But seriously, don't think of it as a compromise even if you're of the carnivore persuasion. The menu covers enough to make most happy, and while the atmosphere is *quite* drab, the friendly service more than makes up for it.

I was looking for a quick to-go lunch and opted for the taco salad with tofu added and complete with vegan nacho cheese, salsa verde, and a side of chips. The food here is both exceptional and diverse, with generous, fresh portions that leave you satisfied. The staff is remarkably kind and welcoming. I highly recommend dining here, and don't hesitate to bring your carnivorous friends along!! While it may be a bit on the expensive side, the quality and experience make it well worth the cost. Definitely will be back before heading back home!

I'd rate 4.5 but I'll be nice and go to 5 stars. It's awesome having a full restaurant dedicated to vegan and vegetarian food. The food is tasty and healthy too. I had a big salad with tempeh. Yum! And another day I had vegan crab cakes that were so tasty. My mom had a beyond burger she loved. And we had lentil soup that we both thought was the best lentil soup we had. The waitress was really nice. We ate on a nice sunny day so we could take advantage of the outdoor seating.

This continues to be one of my go to spots for easy vegan eating in Detroit. This vegan/vegetarian restaurant also has a full bar. Brunch, lunch or dinner you just can't go wrong. Call ahead though if you don't want to have a long wait. While they don't take reservations, they can let you know the approximate wait and take your name. The food has not failed me even when trying something new.

Stopped by here for lunch when my friend and I were in Detroit this past summer. I was feeling extra hungry, so I decided to get their reuben and one of their smoothies, as well as a vegan coney dog to go. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and our food came out pretty quickly. This place isn't exactly what I would consider cheap, but the portions are very generous for their prices. I had the coney dog first, which was fantastic. The smoothie I had was very refreshing, which was nice as it was rather hot the day we had gone in. The reuben was humongous and delicious. Would love to come back here, should I find myself back in Detroit one day.

Decided to try Seva, even though I am not vegetarian. It was a bit hard to find the entrance (the entrance is located in the alley behind the contemporary art studio). We were seated indoors but Seva does have a nice outdoor seating area. The waiter was super nice and attentive. The music was great! Paintings on the wall are beautiful! We started with the yam fries and the general tso's cauliflower. Both tasted great! For entrees we had the Jambalaya, Pad Thai and quesadilla. The pad Thai noodles were a bit hard/undercooked but the flavor was great. The Jambalaya was the crowd favorite, highly recommend. The quesadilla was also good. Had the lemon drop as a drink... it was okay.

I tried Seva with some of my friends who are vegetarian. I have to say, the food was really good. It was a Thursday night so things were a little bit slower, but I could see the space being incredibly busy on other days. I got the ravioli, which was absolutely delicious. My friends ordered the pad Thai and general tso's cauliflower which also looked delicious. Being a work night, I didn't try any drinks, but my friend got the lemon drop which she liked quite a bit. I believe there is only street parking. The door is also a little bit harder to find, it is in a little alleyway. Overall, I would recommend this place! As a meat lover, it most likely wouldn't be my first choice for a night out, but the food was incredible and I would love to go back sometime.

Bizarre and not a taste combination I will repeat, but unique. My friend ordered the purple gang and it was sweeter and bubbly. We split cheese ravioli which was good. For dessert we had the chocolate brownie with cinnamon ice cream. The ice cream was the star of that dish. My only issue was the volume of this cool place. Music was loud and the patrons were louder. I will try it again with an eye toward a less busy time slot. A truly unusual and delicious menu!

I need not have worried; there was parking closer by. Oh well. The restaurant is tiny. And it maximizes the space by lining its walls with colorful bottles of wine, chic and cher containers of olive oil, and pots of artisanal honey hiding here and there. My friend pointed out the breathtakingly beautiful bouquet of dried flowers hanging over our table. I should have taken a photo when I had the chance. I started with the spiced brown sugar latte, made with oat milk. Delicious and sweeter than I thought. Even though the menu is small and curated, I could not decide between the nosh plate, the biscuit brekkie, or the quiche, which was the special of the day. So I ended up with the quiche but added the biscuit and bacon - I did not want to miss out. The crust of the quiche was fine, but the custard-like filling was divine, more like a savory crème brûlée or flan. Service was quick and efficient. Our reservation was made for one of the predefined 90-minute blocks, so the staff was on top of getting and delivering our meals and bussing tables as soon as they emptied to make room for the next group of guests.

Between the two of us we had the beet salad, burger and steak tartare. Burger was good, but not the best smash burger that I've had. Beet salad was fine, however the cream cheese was a bit overpowering against the orange oil. It was dying for some citrus. Steak tartare was a bit dry, meaning that a small dab of olive oil would have added to the richness and overall mouth feel. I did not really taste the egg although I did see a dab of yolk on the tartare. Needed a bit of salt also to enhance the taste Menu was small, but it did cover a cross section of French bistro dishes. All in all, I thought it was a bit overpriced. So I will have to consider returning for a full meal. I would come back for a burger and beer at the bar.

I have consistently come here to get food throughout the years and it has been so rewarding to continue to see Yum Village be such a pillar in the city and in the food industry! The service here is incredible, you don't bus anything yourself. They are so attentive to us and even when there was a snaffoo with on of my party's orders. They paid with cash and I think perhaps that messed up the tracking of the order through the system? I'm not entirely sure. As for the food, Yum Village has maintained some of the same dishes throughout the years, while also adding and/or rotating a ton of other dishes through the menu. I can definitely confirm that the garlic parm jerk chicken remains my favorite and that the spice level, while still plentiful and intense, has eased up a bit in recent years. Either that or that I have become more spice heat-tolerant! Either way, the portions also remain huge, so there was a ton of food to take home! I love the truffle collard greens, the deeply unique and flavorful corncakes, and also the star of the show this go around was the deliciously complex fried cheesy fufu!
