The vegan Cobb salad is the best salad I have ever had hands down. And not just for a Cobb salad but salad in general. Whenever I am in town I go and get two of them just so I can have them for the next few days. Big enough for two meals at least. Seva When my boyfriend and I walked into this restaurant, the first thing we noticed was the unique decor and inviting atmosphere. The people at the front desk and our waiter were friendly and helpful. We ordered the pad Thai, general tso's cauliflower, and Rene's peanut kale carrot salad. All of the dishes were amazing. The pad Thai was the best we've tried. The general Tso's was better than most orders of chicken from Chinese restaurants. We were happily suprised with the kale salad. Good veggie food with some interesting twists, and a fine atmosphere, in a tangled strip mall. The food is an interesting mix --- definitely start with the General Tso's cauliflower, which is exactly as good an idea as it sounds (though the coating doesn't stick to veggies as well as it does to chicken). The pad thai is at the hot, soupy, cooked end of things --- I usually jump more at the light, fresh end of the pad thai range, but this sure hit the spot. The Reggie's kale-and-peanut salad is surprisingly substantial. Seva's got a quiet little storefront cross the parking lot from ZIngerman's Roadhouse, and just a few doors down from the secret A2 library branch. Inside it's considerably less quiet --- not crowded, just not a lot of soft surfaces. Car access is fine if a little tangled; biking through Maple & Jackson is one of my less favorite intersections in Ann Arbor. read more

My non-vegan, non-vegetarian parents and sister and I came here for dinner. We started with General Tso's Cauliflower and the Gouda Tots. They blew us away. The amount of flavor each of the dishes had made us even more excited for our main course. As for our main dishes, I ordered the pad thai. My parents both ordered the burrito and my sister ordered the squash ravioli. Each of these dishes exceeded our expectations. The favorite was by far the pad thai. The flavors were exquisite. I've been dying to try this place for so long. After they moved off campus it kind of became too much of a trek, but I finally found my way here for Sunday brunch. I would come here again and again just for the general tso's cauliflower. Who needs meat when your veggie options are this good?! Otherwise everything else was okay. I had the egg veracruz which was interesting, but nothing too special to be honest. My friend wasn't too excited about her bibimbap and the egg muffins sandwich was good! Obviously take it with a grain of salt because of personal preference. I'm super pumped that this place is all vegetarian, it makes my life as a vegetarian easier. Some hits and some misses, definitely need to try it for dinner because the brunch seems to be pretty standard. read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. We arrived 20 min before close. I asked if it was okay that we were arriving so late and never received any hesitation. Bruce served myself and my friend and also didn't treat us like we came in too late (which has happened at other restaurants). Service was quick, efficient and Bruce was super helpful with suggestions on the menu since we were out of town. Food was phenomenal. I have limited options due to an airborne chicken allergy, so to be able to come to a place that I not only can eat at, but also has amazing service and great food just blows me away. I was so impressed, we ended up coming back the next day with my husband. Andi ended up serving us and even though it was much busier, the service was exactly the same. All of our food came super fast and our drinks were never empty. I love being able to go somewhere that has consistent service and great food. read more

So I'm definitely not a vegan or a vegetarian- actually about as far away as you can get; however, Seva had good reviews and I was looking something quick to pick up and bring back to the hotel down the road. I decided on the pad thai. I thought that it was about average and if anything I thought the prices were a little high( just under $20) for pad thai that doesn't even have any meat in it! The restaurant did appear to be very clean though and the waiter / host who brought my food out was very pleasant! If you are vegan/ vegetarian I would check this place out; however, it just isn't for me! read more

High quality food and a great atmosphere. We are not vegetarians but appreciate healthy food and veggie based dishes and love Seva. My daughter says the Mac and cheese is one of the best she has eaten and loved the dressing on the Caesar salad. She did not like the addition of nutritional yeast on the salad (or perhaps another Parmesan cheese substitute?). I had the beyond burger and loved the taste and texture, along with the tasty pretzel bun. Came for dinner during Ann Arbor restaurant week. There was a 2 for $28 deal, and I came with a group of 4. Two of us were strictly vegan; the other two try to eat vegetarian, but are well aware of meaty flavors. Food: Together, we started with red lentil soup- which wasn't red, but was full of lentils and onions and was super creamy and thick, and mushroom bisque, which my friend said tasted just like clam chowder (minus the clams of course). We also got the yam fries as a starter, which was a bit expensive (+$9) considering they were pretty much just sweet potato fries. Would recommend getting a side order of them instead ($2.50). For main dishes, I had Pasta alla Bosca, which was a spicy pasta with vegetarian sausage, portabella, spinach, and garlic bread on the side. I thought the pasta dish was a bit bland and I didn't care for it much, but the garlic bread was good and crispy. We also had the carribean plantain curry, which I thought could have had more plantain flavor, but was still pretty good. My friends also had the jackfruit tacos, which they said were pretty good. I tried the beans that came with them, which were very nice and creamy. Overall, the food was decent, and the serving sizes were large as we still took food home. For dessert, we got vegan chocolate mousse, which was very rich and delicious. Service: The service was pretty good and attentive. Ambiance: Very chill, lowkey spot off campus. I use to go to the location on Liberty Street and I have to say that I am disappointed in the new location, the food choices, service and the atmosphere is not at all the same. I was hoping for a nice Sunday breakfast, but pancakes came out with no butter, had to wait 10 minutes for butter....butter rock hard, pancakes cold! Then needed syrup...........another 10 minutes! I love Vegetarian food even though I can't live without my meat. My friend and I just went for a hike at Pinckney and were starving for some good healthy food post work out. We ordered a ton since we were starving but sadly, neither of us walked out satisfied. Baked brie with vegetables (2/5) - I am no cheese professional, but even my friend who loves cheese said it was subpar. It came out as a big wedge of brie on top of some carrots and sweet potatoes. Even the crackers that came with it were not good. Neither was it tasty nor unique. General Tsao Cauliflower (3.5/5) - Saw so much great reviews about it I couldn't wait to try. Unfortunately, it was really over seasoned. Thankfully the breaded cauliflower were very crispy, but the orange-chicken like sauce over it was good but really strong and overpowering that I felt like I was eating flavored batter. Yam Fries (4.5/5) - I did love these. Only worthwhile dish of this whole meal. The spicy mayo that came with it was delicious, and the fries were crispy and perfectly cooked. Corn crepe (3/5) - It was their special of the day. Nothing unique about it. It came with the mountain of sweet potato mash that was kind of weird tasting. Would never get it again. In general, the food was 3/5 and not because there's no meat, but what could have been fantastic dishes were poorly executed (we were so excited while reading the menu). What brought it down to a 2/5 was that all our food came out cold. I don't remember the last time I ate out and the food tasted as though it had been sitting out for a while. The food was so good!! It's one of the best places to eat at in Ann Arbor. The vibes were also really good and the servers were so kind.

So, I'm on my way to work in a minute, so I'll edit up a "real" review later, but just know this is the place to go in the area. Only a matter of time before this becomes a large chain (assuming they want that). Pad Thai is insane, Tso-liflower appetizer is great, the coffee is fantastic. --- So, for the real review... sparing you the backstory of why I was even in Ann Arbor in the first place, I will just say that coming here was a great choice. Vegetarian, vegan, omnivorous, or carnivorous-until-your-sudden-heart-attack-at-age-43, you'll find something you'll love here. My girlfriend and I ordered small: split the Tso cauliflower appetizer and each had an almond milk latte afterward. I also opted for an order of their vegan pad thai for the next day. The cauliflower was good, but could have pretty easily been great. The boiling (?) of the cauliflower before frying leads to a mushy interior, which isn't ideal. Thankfully, the breading was dope: very crispy. The sauce itself was nice and... Asian-y? What can I say. But, I wish the vinegar was toned back a bit/it was a little sweeter, and there was some spice. I expected some, but it never came. I know I analyzed that to pieces and made it sound awful, but I'd still score it a B. Would recommend, friend. The lattes were just lattes, but they weren't. They're served in pint glasses and look like they were nitro-nized. The tight bubbles on the top of the latte were mesmerizing, and the drinks themselves had ludicrously luscious (don't judge me too much for this next word) mouth feel. Spectacular. Plus, they were super reasonably priced. $4.50? No up-charge for non-dairy? Works for me. This review's getting a bit meaty... er, beety. But, the pad thai was probably the best I've ever had, which is the main reason I'm five-starring Seva. I'm not sure that I actually got a vegan order of it (unless their "eggs" are super realistic), but either way, dude! So awesome. Tasty all-around. All components were on point -- except one thing: no heat! I mean they have sriracha on the table so you can add-at-will, but a touch wouldn't hurt. That's a minor complaint. The amount of flavor in the dish is incredible, especially since the pad thai omits a pretty important ingredient in traditional pad thai... the fish sauce. TL;DR: Go. Plant-based is the future (like it or not), and Seva's damn near perfected it. read more

We visited Seva on a weekend trip from Indianapolis to Ann Arbor. By far my most favorite part of traveling as a vegan is trying new vegan-friendly restaurants. Seva did not disappoint. The food and service were both great! I had the vegan French dip with fries and it was so good. I never even imagined such thing as vegan French dip until visiting here so I had to try it. My partner had a veggie burger and he commented that it was one of the best veggie burgers he had tried, and he's been vegan for almost 10 years. We had the vegan key lime pie for desert and in glad we saved room for it because it was delicious. The grapefruit sauce on top made it very unique and interesting. We were honestly hesitant to stop in based on the mixed reviews but I'm so glad we did! read more

I went to a post wedding brunch here recently and loved the food! I got the Big Shay Dog's Hash with feta cheese. It was flavorful and more than enough food but didn't feel super heavy as brunch food can often get. The soy sausage blended into the hash well but my favorite part was the feta and guac combo! My vegan friends got the almond cheese and enjoyed that as well. We were in the private room in the back which was plenty of space for 20-30 people and could definitely fit more. read more

Not being a vegetarian, I'm at times hesitant to try such a restaurant. But this place has some decent vegetarian dishes. We tried the Gouda Tots as an appetizer - very good. The second appetizer we tried was the General Tso's Cauliflower. This was a two thumbs up from everyone at the table. I had the enchilada as my entree. It was very good. A little dried around the edges and overly melted cheese on top but I'd still recommend it. Another person in our group had the burrito. It was so big that it could have served two people! I've loved Seva since before it moved from downtown to the west side. A bonus is that parking is much easier now. The buffalo cauliflower is great as are their many vegan options. A full bar too, and the staff is always friendly. Rarely need a reservation but good to get at busier times. read more

What an incredibly disappointing place. I went to eat here for my birthday. The food was awful.. way too spicy but somehow bland. The rice was was undercooked.. very chewy and the staff barely paid us any attention. I ordered a mimosa.. an 8 dollar mimosa that was incredibly small and not worth it all. Not only was it small.. but it was made poorly, and the waiter forgot to give me my drink for a good 20 minutes. It's hard to go wrong with yam fries and chipotle mayo as a dip. They were delicious of course and super filling for the three of us at the table. I was a little bummed they were out of (or didn't have anymore) so many things that I wanted, including the "beyond burger" which I was curious to try. I ended up ordering the Pumpkin Macotti (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) and it was pretty good. It kinda reminded me of butternut squash ravioli which is always great. I did think there could have been more of a pasta element to it. I feel like it was just pumpkin purée with a super thin amount of pasta on top (and then smothered in cheese!) it was good though! Food was good but c'mon.... My nine-year-old vegetarian daughter chose this restaurant for her birthday dinner with the family. They don't do anything special for birthdays....no free dessert, no discount, no singing. Fine. Whatever. We brought in some special birthday cupcakes for my daughter. Eight people in our group, buying entrees, drinks, appetizers, and we were charged $16 for bringing in $10 worth of cupcakes. Had they mentioned this policy before we had eaten the cupcakes, that would've been fine. We could've eaten them in the parking lot. But they didn't mention anything. And then they charged us. I don't know how many countless times I have brought my kids' baby food, special diet food for my special needs students, and cupcakes for kids birthdays into restaurants. Sometimes I'll meet my mom for lunch after not having seen her in while and she sends cookies with me. No one has ever charged me. Most restaurant managers are gracious and friendly. We are there spending lots of money, and they want their customers to be happy, so it's not in their best interest to charge us ridiculous extra fees. They really needed to inform us when they saw us walk in the with the cupcakes. Waitress claimed she thought someone had told us. No one told us. Waitress went to talk to the manger. Weenie of a manager never came over to speak to us. Decent food, but their lousy policy and lousy service leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth. read more

I hate to give this place a "meh" rating because it's such a classic Ann Arbor vegetarian spot. We've been going here for at least a decade. It used to be the only place that was solely veg. But the entrées were just mediocre, and I'd love to see them step up their food. Now that there are so many other, fantastic, veg options, this wouldn't be my go to place at the moment. Things that are excellent: the appetizers! Best sweet potato fries around (maybe with the exception of the Roadhouse next door...) and the General Tsos fried cauliflower is very yummy. Also, the desserts: vegan ice cream (the maple bourbon was the overall fav at our table, but I loved the vanilla), fantastic vegan carrot cake, and great tiramisu. Things that were OK: the goat cheese ravioli was decent, although kind of heavy. The asparagus with it was good. Las Terras Madres tacos (special of the week), with tempeh, beans and chihuahua cheese, was yummy but nothing to rave about. Things that were very disappointing: the special of the week I ordered was Thai Coconut-Pistachio Noodles, with a sauce that sounded completely amazing: "Thai-inspired sauce of coconut milk, lime juice, garlic, ginger, chili, fresh cilantro and ground pistachios." But it had basically zero taste, was dry, and served basically room temperature. Hugely disappointing. You can do better, Seva! read more

A resounding "meh." I was excited to try Seva, but the food was just okay. I went with the TLT, and it gave me the feeling that I was eating something from a vegan Subway sandwich shop or something--just a bunch of room temperature ingredients picked up from prep tubs and thrown into a warm tortilla. The cheese slices were in that weird state between melted and solid, which I think was a contributing factor. It just wasn't very fresh tasting or pleasant to eat. The appetizers were pretty amazing though! Extra points for the cheesy potato bites, and the sweet potato fries with spicy dipping sauce were great as well. Service was good but the entrees were just kind of a downer. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing since the apps were good, but I don't think it's good enough to pull me back to try again. read more

Our second visit to Seva was our first at the new location on Jackson Ave. Our first was years ago and not memorable. We didn't plan to go back. But now we are vegan, so we stopped on a trip home during brunch. We were a little disappointed in the brunch menu, and I thought there was going to be vegan mac n cheese, which I swear I heard about once. Our waitress told us that was years ago. We loved the General Tso's Cauliflower, very yummy. I just wished they'd included a little dish of dipping sauce as I needed a bit more. I thought the Bibimbap was ok. It came in a regular bowl, not a stone bowl. At $12 it was an ok portion. It made me hungry for better Bimimbap, which I will get a Sansu in East Lansing tomorrow. My husband got pancakes, which were fine, but the amount of maple syrup provided was insufficient, and he asked for more, which included a $1.50 extra charge. The amount in that container was twice as much as was provided with the dish. Our waitress was awesome. The decor and overall feel of the place was quite "strip mall" and not cozy. If the food were better, that wouldn't matter so much. Not sure we'll return, unless it's to try the regular menu for dinner. read more
