Coney dog with their kettle chips and mac & cheese

For full disclosure my review is coming from someone who does eat meat but i always support my vegetarian husbands journey. He recently moved to Michigan and i was so happy to find this plant based way for him to try our coney dogs!! I have to say to was pretty close to what i remember a pork hot dog consistency, and taste being. The mac and cheese was a standout as it is the closest non dairy version I've ever eaten at a restaurant! The other standout is the pops on tap!! I ended up having the orange cream soda and it was very good!! The staff were welcoming and kind. Its a cute, quirky layout but i loved the sunshine spot we found in the back and the music was even a good mix!

Everything at Plant Based Coneys is vegan and all of it is delicious, delicious comfort food. Great location, too, in Depot Town with plenty of nearby parking. This is exactly the kind of local business we could all benefit from. But more importantly, the food is so good, you are missing out if you aren't already eating here. It is also worth mentioning they offer carryout and delivery. Do yourself a favor and eat this food.

The food is AWESOME! And the customer service is great as well. Very quaint restaurant. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

My god I didn't wanna leave and I wanted to try all the things on the menu. Here's the thing: I didn't have my first hot dog til I went vegetarian but living in Michigan - coneys are like a rite of passage. Having a place that makes coneys for vegans and vegetarians is the best thing!! AND THESE WERE DELICIOUS. So tasty, not too heavy and the perfect amount of onions and mustard. Their fries and tots are air fried which is so crispy and perfect. My friend got the garlic aioli and I'm mad I didn't get some for myself! Don't forget to get the strawberry lemonade! So refreshing. Love the space and the staff were the friendliest and so accommodating. I can't wait to go back!

    Shockingly delish!

I came here for the Ypsi tasty event. We were all impressed! Even the most die- hard meat eaters in my group had to admit that the food was fantastic. They also have an extensive offering of root beers on tap . We had a coney dog and Mac and cheese. Both were unbelievable. I'll return to try all of the offerings.

I don't typically try new restaurants on their first day, but I was so excited for Plant Based Coneys I made an exception. For only being open a few hours it seemed like they were handling orders really well, food came out pretty quickly and everything was delicious! The coneys were excellent, the tots were not greasy at all (I believe they are air-fried) and the root beer float was perfect for a 90° day! Very exciting to have them in Depot Town and can't wait to try the rest of the menu!

To start off, the service here is wonderful. They have a great staff and awesome products! My husband who usually doesn't like plant-based products came with me and we decided to sample it all! The coney's were incredible and the Mac n cheese was to die for! YUMMY! I also loved the tater tots and the fact they are air fried is great. Left feeling full and finally had a coney after not being able to for a long while. The price is right and the food is great! Also, ice cream is so yummy! My hubby loved it so much. In fact he liked it all. No photos of the food because we ate it too quickly lol Can't wait to return

Happy customers eating plant based coneys and more!

A PERFECT place to take the team for a quick lunch. We pushed some tables together and ordered all sorts of things on the menu and everyone had a good time. I loved the self serve water, condiments and utensils and bussing station! They have signs up letting you know how everything works.

Absolutely delicious! Friendly staff, large open space. They offer oat milk based shakes which is awesome and I look forward to trying it next time. My husband who's a meat eater even said he couldn't tell it was plant based. It's been 26 years since I've gotten to enjoy a coney dog and man did this hit the spot! 10/10

Yummy chkn sandwich with cheeze, garlic aioli, fresh strawberry lemonade, chili cheeze fries and extra cheeze.

I absolutely love this restaurant!!! Everything I've tried has been so tasty. The owners and staff are friendly and I enjoy the conversations we have while waiting for food.

We were escorted to our table by our lovely host, and when we arrived at our table in the back of the restaurant, there was a cute "happy birthday" table card waiting for us. This was incredibly thoughtful and a nice touch for our celebration dinner. Also, I love how this restaurant is decorated - the art work, the furniture, and plants - all come together to create a welcoming, cozy, warm atmosphere for any dining experience. I also love how the menu continuously rotates and highlights fresh produce from local suppliers. We both ordered a different dish and shared, plus we had some leftovers, so the portions are very generous. We also tried some of the oysters with vinaigrette they were fresh and delicious. To conclude our dinner, we were gifted with a DELIGHTFUL banana pudding with a scoop of ice cream and a candle to make a wish (though our wish for a wonderful meal and dining experience was throughly satisfied already ) Thanks again for a great time bellflower!

The salad was fresh and well dressed - simple but good. The second starter was sardine tin. Very very good. Not overly fishy and the garnishes served with it were perfect. For mains which are enough to share, one was the trout! Absolutely well seasoned and crispy. It is served whole and butterflied. We changed the side to the house vegetable. OMG these sautéed garden veggies were the best! The other main was a Japanese curry dish. Here is why the five starting dropped to a four. It was just ok. We would not order again. For dessert we had the bread pudding- another star for the night! To the owner, terrific staff. Everyone we engaged in, were positive and knowledgeable. They are a great team! Looking forward to a second visit!

Couldn't agree on a spot between the two of us, so we decided on a new spot. AMBIANCE - located right across the street from EMU (literally), the place doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that deter you. The inside is dark wood, with seating for about 40-50. I don't know if I'd take a large group here, but plenty of space for a lunch or dinner date. SERVICE - So you order your food in the front and then they bring your food out to you. They take a team approach to taking care of you, with multiple people checking on you throughout the menu. The lady that took our order also checked up on us as we were eating. She was a sassy one, trying to charge me extra for a to go box. I dug it. Other than that, her and the rest of the people there were very nice, and willing to help with any menu questions that we had. MENU - to order, you scan a QR code posted on the wall to pull up the menu. They have a rotating menu, which may explain why the menu itself seemed somewhat limited. Probably the most extensive section of the menu were the appetizers. There were only 2 curry dishes (masaman and a noodle dish) and only 1 type of fried rice. They had other standard items such as pad thai and pad see ewe, and they serve alcohol as well. All the dishes are priced without meat. You can add protein to any of the dishes for an extra fee. FOOD - my friend ended up trying the garlic fried rice with chicken (medium heat), and I ended up getting the masaman curry with chicken (medium as well). The garlic fried rice was neither too garlicky or that hot, but my friend enjoyed it all the same. The masaman curry had a nice curry flavor. Again, not that spicy, but good all the same. I also got a thai iced tea which really hit the spot. OVERALL - pretty solid joint. I normally try a few dishes when I check out a Thai joint, but my friend wasn't feeling too adventurous. I would definitely be willing to check this place out again. CELEBRITY RATING - Ed Helms

You can't park behind their building (it's their loading space or something). But you can park across at the Credit Union (we came after bank hours). The food is good though and they have plenty of seating! The servers are friendly too. We tried the OG (minced meat and veggies and it was delicious with the spice) and the chicken wings and mango sticky rice. The chicken wings had a good flavor and come with wet wipes! The mango sticky rice had great rice texture (it was chewy like mochi) but the mango was out of season so it wasn't very tasty. The coconut sauce was also very mild and didn't complement well. I would not get it again.

Maybe their vegan options are better, but I've ordered non-vegan donuts from them on three separate occasions and unfortunately was disappointed with my experiences so far I tried their yeast and cake donuts at one of their pop-ups and also at the Ypsi Farmers Market. I liked the flavor of the strawberry lemon glaze on the cake donuts ($5 for 2 pack), but the donut texture was very eggy and wet, and one was hollow inside. The yeast donuts I tried were the cinnamon swirl and the ginger-glazed, blueberry-filled flavors ($3.13 each). The blueberry ginger donut was extremely dense (to the point where I wouldn't have thought it was a donut if I didn't buy it) and had almost no blueberry filling inside. The cinnamon swirl seemed better initially but turned out to have a lot of raw dough inside. Many others seem to love their donuts, and they sell out quickly at their pop-ups, so it's possible that they make some good donuts but have significant quality control issues.
