And I thought it would be more of a mediterranean pita sandwich, instead I was presented with a foil covered torpedo that leaked all over the bag and my car seat. Back at the office I was less then thrilled to see that it was literally shredded chicken (which was so dry and contained bone fragments in it), shredded lettuce and tomato slices inside a dry pita torpedo. Forget Zankou, come to Sevan! I'm Lebanese and I've turned my whole family on to this place. It's cheaper, and way better! Plus, they're nicer. The roasted chicken is cooked to perfection with it's crispy skin glistening before it hits your mouth. The filet mignon kabob is delicious. My suggestions: The hummus needs MORE lemon juice and garlic please. I wish they would offer tabbouleh or a cucumber or cabbage salad as a side. The sides are the downfall. One of the ladies could be friendlier I personally just think that's her personality but she needs to remember that she is working with the public. I've been coming here for a while now and I'm always satisfied. Zankou is caca compared to this place. The chicken at Zankou is dry and tasteless. The sides aren't good and the sauce is blah. BUT at Sevan it's delicious. The chicken is juicy and there's just more of it. I enjoy the rice pilaf which is nice and fluffy, the hummas, and the french fries. I eat the garlic sauce with everything so I usually buy a buttload of it. The prices are also WAY better than Zankou. They have this nice buy one get one lunch special which is a steal. They have a similar dinner special which I haven't gotten yet but it's just as good. It's always the same old lady at the counter. She's really nice and she tends to remember customers. I only have two minor complains. The salad isn't always very fresh and the parking is meh. read more

Finally had the opportunity to stop in after having driven by so many times. it was about 2:30 midweek and I was the only patron there. They have a fairly extensive menu and I opted for the chicken kabob plate. The plate comes with a kabob and a choice of two side orders, I went with the salad and fries. Upon ordering I was told it would take about 15 minutes for the food to come out and that is about how long it took. Once delivered I requested garlic sauce which was an additional .49 for a very small container. The chicken was tasty but a little dry for my liking, the salad was decent, and the fries were good. I dont know the food was good enough to compel me to rush back but I certainly would give it another shot and maybe have one of their rotisserie chickens. read more

My wife had a half day at work earlier this week, so I suggested we eat at Sevan for lunch since I'd had it Bookmarked for a while and it was right next to her office. Prior to our arrival, I had no idea this Buy One Lunch, Get One Free existed. Score! We quickly proceeded to order the 14 Chicken meal (white meat for her, dark for me) with rice, hummus, salad, and fries as our sides. My chicken was pretty juicy and the skin was good. As far as the hummus and rice were concerned, I have to say I've had better. My wife's chicken was really dry. She loves white meat chicken, but this was too dry even for her. She took a few bites and offered me the leftovers, but I only ate the skin off her chicken. As far as her salad was concerned, it came with a weird dressing that neither of us enjoyed. The fries were pretty good though. The garlic sauce was pretty money. Overall, it was a great deal ($9 lunch for two??), but I'd take Zankou or Chicken Maison over this any day. read more

The chicken is what I usually get in this place. The oil on the outside is a little bit too much. However, the taste usually comes from those oils so I wouldn't deem that as a problem. Save your considerable money. We were met with rudeness and far less food than we'd anticipated. Our order was guaranteed to serve 5. It barely fed three. The order once opened at home was wrong. Rotisserie chicken was juicy and they give you a generous serving of sides and garlic sauce and it's a great take out food to eat instead of ordering pizza. Okay, so I am going to gripe about food in this area again. The hubby got take away and brought this home for dinner... The Armenian rotisserie chicken, hummus and multaba (sp?). I was excited... Until I saw the grease coming out of the bag. Now, usually.. Grease means tasty, but bad for you. In this case, grease was just grease. Food was somewhat bland. The skin was good. Perhaps all the spices just stayed on the outside of the chicken. Hummus was bland. As was the eggplant hummus stuff.. Even garlic spread was bland. I felt like I was eating hospital food. I have had much better middle eastern cuisine elsewhere. Even in Phoenix AZ. I would say, go to Elena's before this place. See my review on that one. Maybe they had a bad night. It baffles me why anyone in their right mind would consider going here when Zankou Chicken (http://www.yelp.com/biz/zankou-chicken-glendale-2) is only a few blocks away. I have maybe tried this place twice and both times I have kicked myself for doing so. Their chicken is nowhere close, as far as quality, texture, or taste to that of Zankou. A little more expensive than Zankou, but their chickens are plumper and juicier. The hummus is also very good. They make a great chicken sandwich (wrap), with mayo, tomato and onion. The falafel sandwich is terrific as well. The kabobs are also excellent. Garlic sauce same as Zankou. Best for take-out. You can eat there if ambiance isn't a prerequisite. Zankou is closer to my house, so I usually go there by default, but Sevan is just as good, and in some ways, a little bit better. read more

Best place for Armenian chicken! It is better than Zankou Chicken, much juicier and more tender, and they give you more food at very reasonable prices whether it be for lunch or dinner. Considering that there are relatively few culinary choices in Glendale if you have disdain for the chains, Sevan is a small no-frills eatery that consistently delivers solid rotisserie chicken. Great garlic sauce and hummus as well; I've tried other things on the menu but everything else seems run-of-the-mill next to the chicken. Working nearby, I eat lunch here at least once every other week and I've never waited even five minutes before getting my food; huge plus if you're on the clock. The garlic sauce reminds me of Zankou, but maybe better. So in comparison to Zankou (which is the best way to get an idea of what you're eating), the chicken here will always be wayyyyy juicier and more flavorful. The rice....I have to say that I prefer the rice from Zankou, the rice at Sevan is tasty, but just a little too salty - and when mixed with an already very flavor-y chicken, its a little salt overload. The garlic sauce is good, but again I prefer Zankou's more solid garlic sauce. So my perfect dinner would be to go pick up some garlic sauce and rice from a block down at Zankou, and then go to Sevan to get a half a chicken and pita bread. :) Too picky? Overall though, this place is fast, efficient and has great prices. I've never had a problem with the service. First off, I have to admit I'm a total whore when it comes to Lebanese food, especially Tarna and the rotisserie chicken and the garlic sauce. My favorite all time is Zankou Chicken, and even though it is really good, I don't think Sevan even comes close to touching Z.C. This is made off of one visit to this establishment fyi, but I don't think that my review will go up much one way or another with a second or third visit. My wife and I just got out of her visit to the doctor's office and were on our way to Descanso Gardens to frolic amongst the camellias. We however were starving since she needed to fast for the blood test and I did the same in sympathy. Good Lord I was hungry! In any case, we hot footed it over to Sevan Chicken because of the reviews and got there around 11:30. Nice clean place. Small, but I liked the patio because the side tables had granite countertops. Never seen that in a fast food-type place before. We ordered our food, I got the Kefta and my wife got the 1/2 chicken. We got the sides of hummus and moutabal. The ten minutes it took for the food felt like days as I felt my stomach grumbling away at me for not eating breakfast. When the food finally came I stumbled over myself trying to get to it. We scarfed down half the food before we slowed down to savor the food and really start critiquing it. "The chicken is really juicy!" "and the skin is crisp and delicious!" were some of the starting salvos. Unfortunately it all went down from there. The Kefta was, acceptable. It just didn't seem to have enough of the spices. The garlic sauce didn't have the bang that Zankou has. The hummus was grainy, almost like they didn't soak the beans long enough in water before grinding it. The moutabal or eggplant hummus was bland. The rice was mushy. Overall the chicken was clearly the highlight, but all the supporting cast dragged it down to a so-so grade. One thing my wife and I agreed on, If we had never been to Zankou and this was our first taste of Lebanese style chicken, we would have really loved it. Will I go back? Ok, I really do love this place. Now, I've never had Zankou chicken before, and I don't really plan to, but I really don't see how this can compare to a chain restaurant! The rotisserie chicken is very good, and you get your order really quickly, like within 5 minutes, and the price for a half chicken dinner, with two sides (i usually get hummus and rice) and some pita bread and their godly garlic sauce, is pretty amazing. I hope that made sense! I think for all of that I paid about 7 bucks plus the drink. The chicken is really tender, sometimes, in my opinion, it can be too tender, i don't know if that even makes sense, but i'm not complaining. The hummus here is great, and the rice has a nice buttery taste to it. The garlic sauce is to die for. You can eat it with everything on your plate. I have to say the Chicken is so flavorful and juicy. That garlic dip sauce is wonderful and the rice is good too. Friday night was my second time coming here. I wondered why no one was eating there. Both times I've come I wondered why it was empty. First of all, I will always come back because the food is awesome. However, the dining room lacks a lot to be desired. And the one thing that really stood out to me on Friday night was the strong pungent smell of men's cologne. I wanted to turn around and walk out of there, but since I was the only customer there I felt bad, though I was craving the chicken. That right there is something that made me want to leave badly, when I got the food in my car, the combination of chicken and cologne was nauseating. I'm not sure if that is from one of the workers or from a customer. But it was so strong leaving a lingering odor making me think about not going there again. My family and I usually frequent the location in Tujunga but were in the area and stopped here today. It was lunchtime and they were pretty busy. They definitely need some more help during peak hours as it took about 20 minutes just to get a whole chicken. I really hate gristle, and that's all i had in my chicken kabob. i actually gagged on a piece and had to stop eating. the chicken had good flavor, it was jut too much connective tissue. i understand they want to use all of the meat, but i can't stand the texture and taste of the connective tissues. the hummus was a little bland. the veggies on my kebab were awesome. maybe next time I'll see if i can get just a veggie kebab meal. the chicken was a bit oily so the pita underneath was unusable and greasy. boy's wrap had mayo and not garlic sauce like we thought it would. i would try it again, but it wasn't a wow first time experience. read more

VALUE!!! i make a stop here almost twice weekly for the incredible price. In all honesty, the food is 3.5 stars, but the value bumps it up to 4.5; then I rounded up for the friendly service (the girl at the register has my order memorized). The value comes in the form of the specials. Lunch Special- Buy two 1/4 chicken meals, each with two sides- for $5.95! Dinner Special- 1/2 chicken meal with 2 sides- $7.95? I think. The chicken is excellent. Very juicy and flavorful yet light. And not over-seasoned, you can actually taste the meat, if that sounds right. I normally get rice and hummus and the garlic sauce, all of which I stuff into the accompanying pita along with chicken. The hummus is great. The garlic sauce is not as strong as Zankou; however, and don't get me wrong I love garlic, I think it is actually better this way. Less breath issues and doesn't overpower the hummus and chicken. To be fair, the quality of the rice has gone down slightly and the moutabal and salad sides are nothing to write home about. Nonetheless, I love this place. When I can't find someone in the office to split a lunch special, I normally take the second plate home for a microwave dinner. And it is always just as great 5 hours later. Parking is conveniently located within the plaza, although on really busy days, which are somewhat rare, you may have to find street parking.
