    Chicken Shawarma Lavash

The service is great! Such nice people. First time eating here and the food was amazing! Definitely worth it! 10/10 would have it again!

Chicken shawarma salad is delicious, spring mix is supper green and chicken is cooked to perfection.

I went here because of the Yelp reviews. I was disappointed, the shawarma was dry, and the filling for the lavash did not have the bold flavor I was expecting, that I get from other Mediterranean restaurants . I guess the price and food are what you can expect from a food court. Seems the food took longer than I would expect, looked like the workers were just standing around.

Just tried this place out for the first time and I loved it, the bread is fresh. The meat was good quality. The sauce was very tasty. I recommend the pork Shawarma and the staff was nice.

The line cook with his "cooking gloves" touching his dirty phone then cooking after with them still on.

The line cook with his "cooking gloves" touching his dirty phone. Right after this picture was taken, he was wrapping a shawarma for a few customers with the same nasty gloves he was on his phone with. No he did not change his gloves. The other worker scratched his head and flicked whatever was on his head. The cashier on his phone and touching his nose, the same hands he hands customers their food with. Straight up nasty. No standard at all.

So impressed with Artie's Express! Everything was so fresh. The veggies, the salad, the chicken shawarma and the fries were perfectly crispy. Service was friendly too. As for the ambiance, it's in the Food Court of the Americana so it can be tricky to find seating sometimes. Will order again!

This is the amount of dirt on the counter if the food court. Fails Liz' Health inspection. Bringing to attention of management

I feel like eating food like this really brings back an appreciation for anything that's good worth experiencing. Out server Emily was a delight. So friendly and accommodating (and thanks again for the Baklava!) We had the lamb shwarma plate and the fried chicken plate, both with hummus. Also a side of the Za'atar/sumac fries. Fries came out first PIPING hot, crispy, seasoned perfectly nom nom. The entrees quickly followed. The lamb was so tender and juicy and bursting with flavor. And the fried chicken was AMAZING. Shwarma that is breaded with an amazing mixture and fried. Genius! The plates also came with hummus topped with whole chickpeas (YUM), dilled rice, a cabbage salad and other greens, grilled pita bread, olives and my personal favorite, pickled radishes. Many reviews describe them as beets (which I also love) but these are radishes and they pair so well with the rich meat. An umami bomb! Portions HUGE (we have a full meal waiting in the fridge) and prices very reasonable. Patio is a very fun hang with pretty lights. My only knock is on the chairs which are not exactly "comfy." But that's a trivial issue. Service was attentive and staff so friendly and helpful. I can't remember Emily's colleague's name but shout out to her and her Rasputin's shirt (yay Berkeley vibes.) She was great. We will definitely be back at Dune soon!

Could be because it was Sunday and there was a Farmers Market nearby, but still something to consider. We ordered the Lamb Plate ($26). Portion was solid and the plate is actually pretty interesting -- lots of different sides (flatbread, greens, olives, pickled turnips, etc.), so it doesn't feel boring. That said, the lamb itself was just a few small pieces and it was ground. I would've preferred more actual meat Tried the rosemary lemonade too, but didn't really taste any rosemary. Just a regular lemonade, slightly sweet and sour. Also you pay upfront right after ordering. We sat outside on a small patio facing Glendale Blvd. It's a tight space, and at one point someone from the street was walking around nearby talking to themselves, which made the experience a bit less comfortable. Staff was friendly and service was quick though, no issues there. Also, no public restroom, so keep that in mind. Overall, not bad. I was hungry, so I finished everything pretty fast, but it didn't really stand out enough for me to make a special trip again.

I love the way they serve: the food comes out when it's ready. It's so easy to pace ourselves and really enjoy the food, but also to get lost in conversation. I never felt rushed to move on, and I felt like we could have stayed there half the night. Brian checked in on us and was so friendly. We decided to share everything, and I'm so glad. Honestly I wish we could have tasted every single thing on the menu. The restaurant smelled so delicious. We started with the Roast Beets. The bed of whipped herbed ricotta the sweet creaminess of the dates, and the crunch of the pistachio was so dreamy, and the contrasting textures of beet chips and the beets made this appetizer beautiful and delicious. We ordered the pan-seared branzino which is served with puréed cauliflower beets (which tasted totally different to our appetizer), and wilted greens. The fish was exquisite, but I didn't eat as much as I wanted to because we also ordered meat and she's trying to not eat much meat, so I wanted her to have more fish. Next we shared the baby back ribs with were spiced with Turkish Coffee, grape molasses, and a perfectly balanced spice rub. There was perfect caramelization. The meat fell off the bones it was so tender. For dessert we had warm rice pudding which balanced out the meal perfectly. It was a wonderful meal in a beautiful space. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. It's lovely for a romantic meal, but, that said, it's not a very large menu - if you go with 4 or 5 friends you could order everything and share all of it! I hope I do that one day. Sorry I didn't take pictures. I was too busy looking at my girlfriend. The only negative thing I have to say is that there is no valet and parking was difficult - at least it was on Valentine's Day. I hate looking for parking, so I actually can turn this negative into a positive by saying that the food is good enough that I'm willing to drive in circles to go there.

We had a reservation, so it would have been fine anyway. The menu is super simple in the sense that it's not very descriptive and doesn't have a lot of words, but the servers are very nice and helpful. For example, I told the server that I had dietary restrictions, and I told them what they were. He took my menu and marked it up with what I could and could not eat and what could be turned vegan for me, which was super helpful. The food was also really good. My favorite dish was actually the crispy potatoes. I didn't expect the level of flavor that came on them. The cabbage was good as well. I've never had cabbage layered with flavor and infused with herbs like that, so that was cool. I've also never had crispy rice, so that was a good experience. We had ours without the egg yolk in it. The fish, which is listed as a yellowtail, was pretty good. The cauliflower was one of my favorites, along with the potatoes, and I like the olives. It was a nice touch as a quick appetizer while you wait for your food. The service was just really good. They were very accommodating and very patient, and the restaurant is very clean. My favorite thing on the menu is the crispy rice. My only qualm is that they charge what they do simply because they can. I've accepted that the food and the prices don't match when I decide to go here. A $36 cabbage steak and a $24.00 artichoke feel hard to justify (the best wood-grilled artichoke is up the street for $15.00 at Little Dom's). I also frequent Kismet Rotisserie next door, which makes the pricing even more noticeable. My second favorite dish here is the braised half chicken leg, $36.00. It's delicious, but on my last visit I couldn't help thinking that I could walk 20 feet next door and get a whole chicken from the same people for $29.50. I think for $36.00 it should at least be half chicken and more lima-beans or something. That said, it's still a super cute spot for date night, dinner with friends, or even dining solo. I definitely recommend it, just go in knowing the prices are a little audacious.

Honestly, if you're with 2+ people (or even just really hungry), ordering by the pound with sides is way better value than getting individual plates. You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. It comes out warm, fluffy, and fresh--we loved it so much we ended up eating five orders. Paired perfectly with the dips and cherry tomato spread. Whole Dorade: A major highlight of the table. Perfectly cooked fish served in a rich, savory cherry tomato sauce. Beef Shish Kabob: Incredibly tender, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. Grilled Octopus: Flavors and presentation were nice, though the texture was a bit tough and over-charred/grilled on our visit.
