I feel like eating food like this really brings back an appreciation for anything that's good worth experiencing. The service was as expected despite there being a confusion with our reservation (I know this happens to me a lot because I end up getting into places like Saffy's and Bavel and Bestia where I don't really belong). The ambiance is pretty lively and almost transports you to somewhere else. IT's quite magical that you're on the corner of Catalina and Fountain but it feels like you walked into a local restaurant in Morocco.

Also a side of the Za'atar/sumac fries. Fries came out first PIPING hot, crispy, seasoned perfectly nom nom. The entrees quickly followed. The lamb was so tender and juicy and bursting with flavor. And the fried chicken was AMAZING. Shwarma that is breaded with an amazing mixture and fried. Genius! The plates also came with hummus topped with whole chickpeas (YUM), dilled rice, a cabbage salad and other greens, grilled pita bread, olives and my personal favorite, pickled radishes. Many reviews describe them as beets (which I also love) but these are radishes and they pair so well with the rich meat. An umami bomb! Portions HUGE (we have a full meal waiting in the fridge) and prices very reasonable. Patio is a very fun hang with pretty lights. My only knock is on the chairs which are not exactly "comfy." But that's a trivial issue. Service was attentive and staff so friendly and helpful. I can't remember Emily's colleague's name but shout out to her and her Rasputin's shirt (yay Berkeley vibes.) Could be because it was Sunday and there was a Farmers Market nearby, but still something to consider. We ordered the Lamb Plate ($26). Portion was solid and the plate is actually pretty interesting -- lots of different sides (flatbread, greens, olives, pickled turnips, etc.), so it doesn't feel boring. That said, the lamb itself was just a few small pieces and it was ground. I would've preferred more actual meat Tried the rosemary lemonade too, but didn't really taste any rosemary. Just a regular lemonade, slightly sweet and sour. Also you pay upfront right after ordering. We sat outside on a small patio facing Glendale Blvd. It's a tight space, and at one point someone from the street was walking around nearby talking to themselves, which made the experience a bit less comfortable. Staff was friendly and service was quick though, no issues there. Also, no public restroom, so keep that in mind. Overall, not bad. I was hungry, so I finished everything pretty fast, but it didn't really stand out enough for me to make a special trip again.

Honestly I wish we could have tasted every single thing on the menu. The restaurant smelled so delicious. We started with the Roast Beets. The bed of whipped herbed ricotta the sweet creaminess of the dates, and the crunch of the pistachio was so dreamy, and the contrasting textures of beet chips and the beets made this appetizer beautiful and delicious. We ordered the pan-seared branzino which is served with puréed cauliflower beets (which tasted totally different to our appetizer), and wilted greens. The fish was exquisite, but I didn't eat as much as I wanted to because we also ordered meat and she's trying to not eat much meat, so I wanted her to have more fish. Next we shared the baby back ribs with were spiced with Turkish Coffee, grape molasses, and a perfectly balanced spice rub. There was perfect caramelization. The meat fell off the bones it was so tender. For dessert we had warm rice pudding which balanced out the meal perfectly. It was a wonderful meal in a beautiful space. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. It's lovely for a romantic meal, but, that said, it's not a very large menu - if you go with 4 or 5 friends you could order everything and share all of it! The only negative thing I have to say is that there is no valet and parking was difficult - at least it was on Valentine's Day. I've never had cabbage layered with flavor and infused with herbs like that, so that was cool. I've also never had crispy rice, so that was a good experience. We had ours without the egg yolk in it. The fish, which is listed as a yellowtail, was pretty good. The cauliflower was one of my favorites, along with the potatoes, and I like the olives. It was a nice touch as a quick appetizer while you wait for your food. The service was just really good. They were very accommodating and very patient, and the restaurant is very clean. The bathrooms are clean as well, so I would definitely come back here. I thought the vibe was welcoming and nice, and the quality of the food was delicious.
