DTF is one of our favorite places to eat. We decided to try this location because of the free parking. This location is our favorite, excellent waitstaff, free parking and pretty spacious restaurant. We showed up 45 minutes early for our reservation and we were promptly accommodated and sat at a table. Here's what we ordered: 1. You already know it's going to be good. This place is the Cheesecake Factory of dumpling houses. Make a reservation or stop here first when you get to the mall, then go do something else. If you're doing a walk-in with a group, everyone has to be there or you're SOL. Also let them know everyone has arrived because that seems to help. I got the text to head back by the time we walked over to the conveyor belt sushi place. Then you check in again and get a buzzer. That's the last step before getting your table. I don't know when this place isn't busy. You can come at weird times and you'll still wait. I won't wait more than 45 minutes anywhere anymore. The funny thing is it never feels busy once you're sitting down. It's calm. Then you remember there are like 100 people waiting outside and maybe don't sit there forever. Order the Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao because if you don't... why are you here? This was my third visit and they still ask if you've been there before. I guess some people have never had soup dumplings before because there's a "how to eat them" card on the table. Somebody must've bitten into one immediately and blasted soup all over themselves. Getting on the virtual waitlist is really simple, just make sure you're within 5 miles of the restaurant. Lines and wait times can get long (we waited about 1 hour and 30 min on a Thursday night), so plan ahead! There is free parking as part of the Glendale Galería mall. Service was great! Robert took care of us and gave us a rundown of the menu as first timers and offered suggestions while checking in on us. The food was overall really great!! There were definitely standout items like the noodles w/ diced beef and peppers, the chocolate buns, the pork chop fried rice, and the black pepper beef tenderloin which was my favorite. He frequently ensured we had water and gave us updates on our items. As this was my first time, he explained the menu and dining experience to me. His service was great! The hostess was also great at getting us checked in. Now for the food. Amazing! This place operates mainly on a sharing family-style basis so it was great to get a little taste of everything. I tried the chicken fried rice, cucumber salad, garlic string beans, chocolate dumplings and the classic Xiao Long Bao (pork). Happy to report that everything was amazing. The little ginger soy vinegar sauce is so great and I love how it's customizable to each guest. The actually restaurant was a bit busy, which was expected. I went on a Friday night and had a 1 hr wait time after putting my name on the waitlist. Expect a little bit of a wait at popular times, but there's plenty of shops to browse in the meantime. Would recommend putting yourself down on the waitlist at soon as you arrive, then shopping in the area while you wait. For a weekend dinner, the wait can still be a couple of hours long. There is also a physical line for bar seating, which only took us about 20 minutes to get seated. Everyone knows DTF for their soup dumplings, however, the green beans here are a must order as well. They are extremely crispy and would be impossible to recreate at home without the heat of an industrial kitchen. If you have room for dessert, definitely try the mango shave ice. read more

I had my first experience at Din Tai Fung a few months ago visiting my sister and friend and it was a good one! Thanks social media for introducing me to this spot, and hearing it from my Glendale based sister! I made the reservation a month in advance to ensure we had a table. We get there, and silly me, I made it at the wrong location! I was pretty upset because I had been wanting to try this spot for over a year. Oops! The hosts/staff were SO kind and accommodating, they got us seated within 10 minutes. We grabbed a glass of the wine at the bar while waiting. The ambiance is lovely - spacious, warm, cozy, modern, sleek. The three of us were seated at a large booth and almost instantly greeted by our server with waters. He was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We already had wine but opted for another when the wine ran dry. They have a fairly extensive drink menu, and a VERY extensive food menu. We ordered a LOT of plates to share, clearly we were excited. The dishes we went with were the Cucumber Salad, Pork Xiao Long Bao, Chicken Dumplings, Chicken Spicy Wontons, String Beans with Garlic, Shrimp Fried Rice, Noodles with Diced Beef & Peppers, and lastly the Sesame Dessert buns. My favorite dish was definitely the Shrimp Fried Rice, probably the best I have ever had. The cucumbers were delicious; yes they make a simple dish absolutely amazing. I am more of a fan of chicken than pork, so would opt for those Xiao Long Bao next time. The Spicy Wontons had a perfect amount of spice, as well as the noodles. Although I am not a huge dessert fan, I did really enjoy my bite of the Sesame bun! Overall, would I go back? Absolutely. The food was GREAT and the price point was actually not bad. I was truly surprised that it was under $200 (if I remember correctly) for our entire meal, and we got a lot! The service was stellar. I do think that "content creators" overhype this place though. The chocolate and mochi xialongbao with the sea salt cream were the perfect dessert. It's my husband's birthday and we decided to come to this DTF location. We've been to a lot of the locations, but never been to this one since it moved into the mall. First walked in this location and it's so easy to notice that this location doesn't have much Asian. After waiting for 2 and half hours, we checked in with the front and we got a beeper, a menu and a pencil. We were seated but our server was on break. We walked inside the restaurant is darker side as it is in the mall no sure why it is so dark. They don't show the employees making xlb in this location. We walked around the bar and got our table. We ordered cucumber salad and it was ok only spicy but not enough vinegar. Green bean with Garlic doesn't taste any favor it's like boiled green bean not stir fried The 2 orders of xlb came as steaming looking but when you bite into it, it's very disappointing. This is not DTF we are used to. The skin is hard and dry the soup wasn't steaming hot it's warm only, you don't need to be careful of the soup coming out because it's not enough. The meat is not favorful. Shrimp fried rice is good but so small, it is just one bowl of rice now not really meant for sharing. Fried pork chop noodle is the most flavorful and juice pork out of all the dishes we ordered tonight. We are very disappointed with this location. We had reservations at 4:00 pm, but our meetings ran long. I called to see if we could push to 4:30 pm and without hesitation, they said no problem. We were on our way and were trying to navigate LA traffic and barely made it on time to our second reservation. Once we arrived, we checked in immediately and were given a pen and menu to look over while our table was getting ready. We barely sat down and they grabbed us to walk us to our table. We were greeted by Kristopher and he was simply amazing! He took our drink and food order and reviewed it one more time with us before placing it. Drinks came out first and quickly at that! We ordered the Yuzu Margarita and a regular old fashioned with Bulleit Rye. Both were great and had the right amount of stiffness. I love that they have cubed ice here for the old fashioned too! Minutes later, the food started arriving. My usuals are always the Vegan Spicy Wantons, but opted to try something new - their Sticky Rice Shao Mai and Vegetable & Mushroom Fried Rice. I was pleasantly surprised on how good they were. Add their vinegar and ginger to dip the shao mai and it was perfect. Chili oil was also a plus! Can't thank the team here enough for a wonderful experience. Super grateful for accommodating us as well when we were so late. What an amazing time we had here this evening. The restaurant was clean and immaculate. The tables and chairs were wiped down and ready for use upon arrival. The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and accommodated all of our needs. Their efficiency reduced a 3 1/2 hour wait time to less than half of the original estimates. Everyone worked together to create a smooth, enjoyable environment, and pleasant experience for a party of over 15 people. So many names to mention, Janelle, Josh, Majorian, Melody, Catherine, Ash I only wish I was able to call out more people. Each person greeted us with a smile, allowed me to chaperone guest in and out, and made us all feel welcome and special. Even when the shifts were changing, people were given instructions and assigned duties to continue the level of service to the next round of management. Text messages were sent efficiently and invitations were tracked better than expected. Once the food started coming out, it didn't stop till everybody was full. Main courses, drinks and dessert, desserts all flow with continuity and efficiency. I've probably been to Din Tai Fung more than 30 times. In fact, I've been going there since about 20 years ago, when there was only one location in the LA area--the one in Arcadia. At that time, there was just that single location, but at some point the number of locations increased a lot. Out of all of them, I've been to the Glendale Galleria location countless times, since I go to Glendale Galleria very often. I've also been to the Americana location, but it moved to Glendale Galleria some time ago. I've also been to the Arcadia Santa Anita Mall location before. Once, we went there with about 15 relatives, and even after waiting for two hours we still couldn't get a table. We were so tired of waiting that we eventually gave up and left without eating. Anyway, the last time I went there was on Saturday morning, March 23th, 2024. I made a reservation in advance and went with My Mom because she said she wanted to eat their dim sum. Our favorites are the kale salad and the shrimp xiao long bao, shrimp shumai and we really enjoyed them that day. However, after eating there that day, I ended up getting a really bad stomach ache. Because of that experience, I haven't been back since then--it's been about two years. The restaurant is very friendly, the food is delicious, and it's nice that you can watch them making the dumplings, but the stomach problem I had that day was so bad that I haven't been able to bring myself to go back. Instead, since then I've been going very often to another Michelin-star dim sum restaurant in Rosemead. Finally got the opportunity to go and see what's the hype is about. I will start with the service. Eric was our server. He went above and beyond in customer service. He explained the ordering process and what items to order. He was very friendly and patient. Five stars for the service. For food, I can say everything we ordered was delicious.
