Okay, so start to finish. I have a chronic pain disease. Massages have been a luxury for the past few years (yay covid!) and if I could afford one it was a once-a-year thing. I have recently reached a point where I couldn't be comfortable in my own body, in terms of sitting, standing, or laying down, because everything was sore, hurt, screaming, and tender. Thanks to my new job, I now get reimbursed for things like massages. I figured I'd give Sevati Massage another go since it's been a minute since I last went. I AM SO GLAD I DID! The space is well decorated, calm upon walking in, and cozy. Amy welcomes you into the space excited to get working together and is a wonderful soul. Now for the real thing, you want to know. Are they worth it. HELL YES. Amy worked wonders. Amy is truly the only massage therapist that I trust with my body. She heard and listened when I self-advocated for harder or lighter pressure, and special requests. I was taken to another dimension with how relaxed I was. Most relaxed I've been in months. Amy really listened to what my body was telling her (she can read minds right?). Got all the places that really needed and made sure each part of my body had equal time spent on it. She got my hands and arms, and I forgot that those were tired and hurting too until she got them to actually relax. She did the scalp thing, even with my hair in a bun, and ohhhhhhhhhhhh if she could do that for like a solid 45 minutes, I'd pay for that alone. Oh and she reminded me that butts are muscles too and they get sore and tired, and that butt massage was to die for, literally got to the point where whenever she asked if what she was doing was okay, I'd just nod my head because I was speechless. So glad I found Sevati! I'm a fan of doing more frequent, shorter massages and it was hard to find a place in Portland that does 30-minute massages. Booking was super quick and easy. Parking at 10th & Yamhill SmartPark was cheap and convenient. The massage with Allie was excellent!! She took notes on the things I wanted to focus on upfront and asked for feedback on pressure and technique throughout, and was careful to avoid problem areas I mentioned from an injury. 10/10 will be back! read more

Because of this, I had to schedule my massage pretty far out (understandably) so I wasn't quite sure how my body would be feeling or what it would be needing at the time of the appointment. I met with Alexandria who helped me feel very relaxed, comfortable, asked me what I wanted to focus on, and talked me through the process. It was amazing. I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated after our time together. We worked on some tight muscles that I wasn't aware needed attention and Alexandria helped me breathe through the tough parts. I purchased a Groupon and made an appointment 8 weeks in advance. When I showed up (early) no one was there. I waited for 45 minutes and during my wait I left 2 voicemails and sent an email. Finally got a call back (thankfully) telling me that there was no way they could make it. I appreciated the apology and the call back, but at the end of the day this is a huge inconvenience and is indicative of a very unprofessional and/or disorganized group. Amy is wonderful, and I'll definitely be returning to her - I've already booked my next appointment! Scheduling was a breeze - Amy is very accommodating and the online system works great. There's ample street parking, which is always a plus. The studio is small, but very cozy - candlelight and soft music gives it a great vibe. In the past, I've been uncomfortable during massages because I feel like I don't know what's going on - but not with Amy! Amy speaks freely with you throughout to explain what she's doing, and gives pointed suggestions for helping to ease pain at home. Teresa Collins is a true healer. She is a tiny person, so you might not expect her to be as strong as she is, but her deep tissue is seriously deep. Like 10,000 leagues under the skin deep. I mean, the woman knows things. She is one of those masseuses who can pinpoint the source of your pain and push it out of your body. Amy was amazing! Professional, accommodating, and not to mention a great masseuse. My phone died almost as soon as I got in the car so not only was I late, but I didn't have access to my groupon code for the massage. She let me borrow her charger, didn't guilt me at all, and made sure I got my full hour despite starting late. On to the actual massage: Amy paid attention to where I was the most sore and catered my massage to my specific needs. My back and shoulders are in awful shape as a student and she spent the whole 90 minutes (per my request) working on my problem areas. She has a fantastic understanding of anatomy and physiology and she appealed to my nerdiness by explaining different techniques to me in terms of stretch receptors and blood flow.
