The seven keys lodge is an amazing hidden gem just outside Estes. We found it after going to RMNP for the last 30+ years. While very rustic and historic the dinner was amazing, reasonably priced and the service attentive and really just perfect. Our wait person was the owners family, a young country western singer. In addition there is a stage outside and live music. Hands down the best Estes dinner experience ever. The staff were all warm and welcoming and dress is come as you are casual even though the food is elevated. Only open for summer season. read more

This place has history, cool location, and the absolute nicest staff and owners I've dealt with in some time. It's like a B&B personality without the B&B invasiveness, if you get my drift. We absolutely had a wonderful time. Stayed for one of the music shows. The food at the restaurant was spectacular, beds were comfortable, rooms spic and span, and care to details top notch. This up scale restaurant has excellent surf and turf, great single malts and wine. Service ranges from excellent to poor depending on the number of diners. The atmosphere is rugged country. I personally find it hard to rate a place with only having drinks and one appetizer, so with that said I'd give it four stars. Yet it's unfortunate to say that the ladies behind the bar nearly pushed me to rate three simply because they didn't seem friendly at all. So right off the bay we didn't feel super welcomed. It was made up for though with my delicious glass of wine and my husband's Keyhole drink, their take on an Old Fashioned. That was a slam dunk....probably one of the best old fashioneds we have ever had and we are originally from Wisconsin! One or two other employees ended up casually swinging by while we enjoyed our time on the big porch and their friendliness and welcoming nature was a nice change up from what we experienced inside. We ordered the broccolini to go with our appetizers. It was quite good with the cheese and almond slices. Yet it was so pricey, as were the drinks. But if we consider our views and the experience overall I think we could talk ourselves into thinking it was money well spent! read more

The staff at the 7 Keys Lodge were amazing. The Sunday brunch top notch, with prime rib, shrimp and Wagyu steak, salads and fresh fruit. The entire place is like a rustic museum with antique telegraphs, victrola and the most incredible kodak photos from early 1900's throughout the entire lodge. The key collection, stunning views, and the hummingbirds on front porch is reason enough to visit. We heard awesome live music in an intimate outdoor setting. Visited nearby Estes Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park and Lily Lake is walking distance from Lodge. I would definitely recommend and will return. read more

Great Food. Great views. Great service. This might have been the best food we have ever had in Estes Park. The bar is very cool and a great waiting area before you sit for dinner. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and make great, unique cocktails. We started off with a charcuterie board on the patio, which has some of the best views in Estes. We moved inside for dinner where we got the garden salad, short rib, pan seared quail, and the bison. 10/10 on every entre. They were also kid friendly. Not only was the food delicious, but all of the staff and our waitress were great and very friendly. My family has been coming to this property to dine for decades. While we were sad to see the old Baldpate Inn leave, I can say we are so pleased with Seven Keys. The owners are a very friendly Texas family who have done great things with the place, while keeping the old historical feel. Those who have been to the Baldpate will remember the keys on the ceiling. The new owners have kept these there and added a great bar to that room, as well as a live music area. The owner is a musician himself and has a very interesting room full of signed guitars, along with unique Seven Keys merch. Overall, highly recommend and we will definitely be back! read more

The ambiance is so nostalgic! I've been coming here since I was a child. The porch floor where we sat was slanted. Our server was one of the owners and she was fabulous and friendly. My daughter had two appetizers for her meal. The fried calamari and the bone marrow. She enjoyed them both but the bone marrow was divine. My husband had the short ribs and loved every bite. I had the scallops and they were cooked great. I liked the beurre blanc sauce. The reason I only gave four stars is because the risotto was terrible. It was pretty much inedible. My daughter had the rainbow trout and she really liked the trout. The couscous was too salty. For the price everything should be done well. read more

We have wanted to try this place for a while and with our yearly trip to Estes we made it a priority. Our long wait was totally worth it! The property has been lovingly restored by the new owners who are delightful. The staff is kind and helpful. This has the feel of the historic lodges of yesteryear while bringing some of the best food in Estes to its patrons. We enjoyed drinks on the patio sitting in a porch swing as twilight crept in. We ordered the charcuterie board and it didn't disappoint! The staff was so friendly and the owner recommended a scotch that my husband ended up loving! When we were seated for dinner it was as picturesque as one could have hoped: next to the antique glass wall of windows with a view as the sun set across the valley of Estes. Order every single appetizer- we did and you won't be sorry. Special shout out to the Roasted Beets!! We also shared the Honey Bourbon Glazed Short Rib with cheddar grits, which was fork tender and well paired. In lieu of dessert (although I hear tell of the blueberry cobbler and kind of with I had ordered it despite being literally stuffed) we went back to the porch for a pour of another owner-recommended spirit and chatted and laughed with other guests and staff until it was properly past our bedtimes. What a gem this place is! We will be coming back as soon as we can. Do yourself a favor and stop in for the views, the food, the drinks, and the service. Well done, Seven Keys! read more

I visited this beautiful place twice in the seventies, when the Maces owned it. The quaint cottages and the hotel rooms were incredible. The summer breezes and the view of estes park were amazing. The key room was so cool. If I wasn't disabled I would definitely go back. I wish the new owners the best. Injoy this historic masterpiece. read more

This is truly a magical place, such a chill, laid-back, cozy bar with great views of the rockies. Stop by the bar and have a cocktail. My recommendation? The key hole; Bourbon, Leopold bros Michigan tart cherry to name a few ingredients. The service is amazing to say the least. It is a family owned business. I never leave reviews but after dining there I felt like I owed them one! The scenery is amazing and driving in you pass the cutest Scottish Highland cows. The cocktails were well crafted and made to perfection. After a long day of hiking we ordered the trout and I about cried when I had my first bite. The brown butter sauce complimented the fillet without overpowering how well the trout was cooked. If you go- get the blueberry cobbler. It looked like a family business and I really hope they start getting the attention they deserve. We will be back! read more

That's a big NO from me, dawg. Came in a Saturday night as part of a group of 7 with reservations. Waitstaff seemed comprised largely of teenagers (possibly related to owners?), which in itself isn't terrible, except that our service was not very good. Drink orders taken fairly quickly after being seated, plus. Waitress then not coming back for something like 20 minutes to take food order, not good. When drinks came, one party member did not receive their drink, which was a simple club soda with lime. When waitress finally reappeared to take food order, she was reminded about the club soda and said she'd make sure it came. Guess what still hasn't been delivered after most of the tables food had finally arrived? Speaking of which, the food came out so randomly and haphazardly, it was sort of comical. One appetizer, then a second, then one person's entree, then a few more appetizers or side plates, then a few more entrees. And so on. And yes, still no club soda. ??? The positive on the food front is that the food was all very good and everyone happy with their food choices and quality of the meal itself. However. While we were eating and enjoying ourselves there was a lot of chaos in the adjoining room where it became clear there was a musical event about to take place. The waitstaff and others were all quite clearly more focused on the setting up of that space for that event than on the experience of the paying diners in our area. As we (and other customers) tried to peacefully eat and converse, the staff kept taking chairs from the dining area as people vacated, also moving tables into the dining room from the event room. It was all very disruptive and the emphasis put on their event over our dining experience was disappointing and very off putting (it should be noted that the event featured the owner, a musician). They clearly wanted us to leave but we had ordered dessert for the table and we tried not to feel rushed, even knowing full well that we were. When we finished eating the dessert the music was just sort of starting up and our teenage waitress came back to us to ask if we had purchased tickets for the show, which of course we had not. She said she had to ask us to leave. We pointed out that had our service been timely in the first place we'd have already been finished and gone by now. The whole thing was extremely uncool. I would under no circumstances recommend this place based entirely on the service and the lack of concern for our experience. The two stars I give this is purely for the quality of the food and nothing else. By the way, if you're a vegetarian there is no meatless entree here but some very tasty side dishes can probably fill you up, although you will end up paying as much if not more than for an entree. I strongly do not recommend this place and will never come back. read more

I went to the Baldpate Inn as a kid, and we were so excited when new owners came in and transitioned it to Seven Keys. We were one of their first 100 customers, I'm sure - and we were able to come in, have great drinks (as the owners manned the bar) and great apps (charcuterie was awesome). We've been stopping in yearly since they opened - even bought some of the cool leather-bound highball glasses when we were there a year ago. Stopped in last week and the experience was unrecognizable. We were excited to see online that they now offered dinner, including a kid's menu, billed for "12 and under" - When we showed up, we hadn't made a reservation (never had to in the past), we offered to sit anywhere, including the patio, but they'd had a cancellation and offered us a table in the dining room - and that's where the niceties ended. Our charcuterie plate took forever and was a shell of the ones we'd had in the past, the kids were told 'no kids menu except for 10 and under' - Not what the website said...somewhere between chicken fingers and Quail, there's probably an opportunity to have something on the menu for tweens/teens. We ordered drinks, the charcuterie, and an entree (braised shortribs), thinking the kids would nibble on that. The entree showed up first, then the drinks, and 15 min later, the charcuterie. We had to refill our own water - and the place was FAR from packed. We are so very sad and disappointed, given our previous visits and the many people we recommended stop in there. Maybe we'll try again someday - Not in the next few years, for sure. Bummed out. read more
