So I've been looking for a good sushi lunch in my neighborhood, this was recommended to me so I thought I'd give it a try. The restaurant is Huge inside. There is floor seats, a sushi bar, multiple rooms for dinning and a large pub. The lunch menu was very affordable, the quality were decent. The portions were large. I could see if I was craving Chinese/Japanese food this isn't bad. I did feel like it was difficult to get our server. Once we ordered we did not see the server at our table again till our food was brought. Maybe I'll come back and try something at dinner time. The lunch specials were valuable. If you get one thing at Seven Moons get the Nime Chow. Ask for extra peanuts on the side. That dish is worth the price of admission. The menu at Seven Moons is like a Russian novel--way too long. You can lose yourself going thru all the options, most of which are slight variations on other dishes. Check out the Pad Thai and the sushi. Both are ok bets, kind of. The Pad Thai is good but it does have an oily undertaste and I've had a strange taste linger in my palate after eating here. Which is why I don't come here regularly. In terms of sushi, I would stay away from the raw fish, which is why I recommend the Spicy Scallop roll, baked scallop with a dollop of spicy sauce that provides a nice kick. The Mexican roll is a good bet if you like tempura sushi. Nothing mindblowing in terms of flavor but acceptable. In the future I'll probably just get the Nime Chow and the complimentary pot of green tea (ask for it). read more

Sometimes when you go to a place you like over and over, you try to write a review. In your head you have a million things you can think of that you like, but when it comes time to write the review, you can think of what to start with. This is the case with Seven Moons. I've been to so many Chinese restaurants, and this place has caused me to completely forget them. My girlfriend and I were in Woonsocket the other day, and she asked if I wanted to go to Asia Grille in Lincoln. Before trying Seven Moons for the first time, the answer would have been a definite yes, but one thing that sits in the back of my mind is the GD crab rangoons! Let's face it, I read the Yelp tips and reviews on this place and studied it well before my first encounter and had to give into the hype. The rangoons themselves are just slightly above the rest, and you can tell without reading the menu that they are in fact handmade. It doesn't stop there though... They give you some crazy modified peach flavored duck sauce to go with it. Honestly, I have thought of just drinking this sauce out of the cup, it's so damn good! But wait, I haven't touched the Scorpion Bowl. One thing that used to disgust me about Asia Grille was the fact that they chose not to dishwash the bowls in favor of keeping the paint on the side of the bowls intact. Instead, they "handwash" them. Because of this, their bowls have a dirty residue on the inside. Not at Seven Moons though. They favor the cleanliness over the look of the bowl which is more important. Not only that, the drink tastes unlike any Scorp I've had, kind of like a orangey, peach flavor that keeps you wanting more. They present it with the flame. It's clear that whoever is managing the bar is training their employees how to properly make drinks. Strong drinks dot mean a better drink, and this is carefully displayed here! The food is incredible! So far, I've tried General Tso's chicken, Pad Thai, Double Sizzlin' Chicken, LETTUCE WRAPS!!, and Shanghai Noodle. Yep, the lettuce wraps are the bomb! I haven't had the sushi before, but they do have an extensive menu for it, including Bento boxes. Also, you can sit Japanese style at one of the tables in a private seating area. Again, haven't done it yet, but I'm sure it's pretty cool. Sorry to be so lengthy, but again, this place is great! Why did we go back a third time?? Well, we won't anymore. Mention "Seven Moons" and everyone coos and swoons. "so good", "love them", so we decided to give them a try about a year ago. The first time the food was....ok. Nothing spectacular. Certainly nothing to drive from Providence for. The atmosphere is slightly above standard for an Asian cuisine restaurant, but walking to my table always feels like being a rat through a maze...for ordinary cheese. After the first experience, we returned with more people to give it another go. Again, nothing to write home about. But all you remember after a time is everyone's rave reviews, and forget the bland experience. So, we decided to return one more time, last week. We were seated right away, which was a nice surprise for a Friday night. I was once again overwhelmed by the tome of a menu, and decided to focus in on some sushi, since we have become quite regular consumers of it in other places. My fiance chose our appetizer and entrees. The sushi arrived, and we each took a piece. My fiance had a weird look on his face, and subtly raised his napkin to his mouth. "what's wrong?" I asked. He replied that something tasted wrong with the sushi. Funky. So much for the sushi. Then, our appetizer arrived, and we both looked puzzled. We thought we were ordering the chicken lettuce wraps, but we accidentally ordered the crispy wraps instead. No big deal, except the rolls were literally oozing oil and sizzling with fat on the plate. We each took a bite, and immediately put down the rolls. To this day, we have no idea what the ingredients were, except something brown and beige, and very slimy. The entrees arrive and we were, at this point, a bit shell-shocked. Our Sesame Chicken pretty much looked like Sweet and Sour chicken prepped with a different sauce, with thick batter, and, hello, no sesame seeds. The Mongolian Beef, while tasty, should have been called "Green Beans with slivers of Mongolian Beef". But, to be fair, this entree was actually quite tasty. So, we left wiping our tongues with our napkins, vowing that we will never again listen to the din of praise we used to hear about the restaurant. And since our last outing, we checked in with some friends, whose tune has also changes for the negative about the restaurant. While the light may be bright on "Seven Moons" for some, we would rather stay in the dark. read more

I have to say that a seven moons antipasto is pretty darn good. The lemongrass chicken wings being the single best thing I've had there. Pad Thai is good. Cantonese noodles too. I've had good food there but I've had some pretty bad stuff too. Part of it is the failure to communicate with the staff. The waiters almost invariably do not speak English. You'll say something, they'll disappear, and come back with a manager in a striped shirt to take your question. The waitresses for the most part are locals and it is night and day different dealing with them. I've told every server in every restaurant that I have a food allergy to peppers. They tell me a dish like sweet and sour chicken has no peppers and when it comes out it does. I send it back and they pick the peppers out of the sweet and sour sauce and send it back! It was cooked with peppers in it! Uugh. I sent back shrimp twice in one night because the batter was raw inside. One of the owners came out and told me they were fully cooked and that the batter was just old. Nice huh? I sent back sushi the one time I ordered it because it smelled bad. I wouldn't recommend it. I've sent back any number of dishes because the vegetables are raw. It's hard to eat raw onions and raw Chinese broccoli stems will choke a horse. You wait in line to eat in a very pretty restaurant, and then, there is a problem with the food that suggests a poorly trained kitchen staff that doesn't have a clue. Compared to a place like Lemongrass, where the kitchen is a well oiled machine, it's a joke. The worst meal I have had in an Asian restaurant was their green curry soup with chicken and baby eggplant. My bowl had a half inch of grease floating on it. I stirred it and chicken skin, fat, and halved baby eggplant swirled around. One spoon and I realized although it was extremely spicy that something had gone bad. I sent it back and have lived in fear of it ever since. I saw a woman order it once at the bar. I watched her put a spoon in her mouth, spit it back into the bowl and send it back. You don't see that very often! If I'm there with friends, it's the antipasto or noodles. I won't go on my own anymore, not just for the food. You can't talk about the place without mentioning the hostesses. They all look like runway models but they aren't friendly. They all seem too busy to seat you and don't listen. I have 3 places in a restaurant I will not sit. I let this be known. I don't sit in front of kitchen doors, bathrooms, or waitress stations. I don't need the noise, smell, or commotion while I'm eating. The first place the hostesses always try to put me is at the little tables in front of the kitchen doors. I refuse as lots of people do. It's an insult and those tables shouldn't even be there. Then I get the rolling eyes and the attitude. You go out for, and pay for, atmosphere, service, and food. Someone should teach them that. They act as they could care less you are there spending your hard earned cash. read more

This restaurant was incredibly tasty. They serve a huge number of dishes from seven Asian cuisines from China, Japan, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand. The menu is expansive, yet the prices are really reasonable. My partner and I had the chicken wing appetizer, done with spicy Thai peppers. Sixteen pieces of wings (way more than we thought we ordered!) for $8. They were hot, crispy, and very good. For lunch, I got a crispy noodle dish with seafood ($8) that was just as I remember from the best Chinese restaurants. My partner got the lettuce wraps, which were really good, and a large portion to boot ($10)! All in all, the bill (with tax and tip) was under $40. Pricey for lunch, but we took home a lot of leftovers, and the food we got would have been more than enough for dinner, too. The service was pretty quick and relatively attentive - in taking the lettuce wraps home, they gave us extra lettuce for the filling. To summarize?? I cannot wait to go back! read more

Oops...I did it again! (Britney on Seven Moons) I want to like this place... I really do and so I allowed my dining partner of the day to talk me into another try. It was a Saturday at lunch time and surprisingly it was not packed. We met our waitress and then we waited 10 minutes for water..we waited another 10 and got our salads- these had potential to be great- they were served in large sized bowls and the dressing is very good- the bad part was that they tasted like they had been made the day before and stuck in a freezer....so the veggies had that weird taste and were sorta icy. Once our salads were cleared we waited for at least 15 minutes (this I am not exaggerating about. My dining partner and I talked about leaving becuase it felt so darn long...) I often will gauge an Asian restaurant by the quality of their Hot n Sour soup as an initial assessment, since it standard fair for Chinese joints. Well 7 Moons failed here and never recovered. I love seven moons food and I eat here all the time. Bento boxes are always great options and you get good value for your money. So overall the food is good. However the staff is pretty bad. A lot of times I order out because it's better than dealer with slow waiters. They wait staff is all very very slow and don't quite seem to understand the way bill paying and tips go. Worst experience I've had in ages. The lady at the front was rude and she got my order wrong. Then there was the food. Just atrocious. I would even go so far as to say disgusting. Then if all that wasn't enough, it was $11.61 for a General Tsos chicken lunch with lomein. It came with 6 pieces of chicken. Absolutely drenched in sauce. Barely edible. The noodles were undercooked, under seasoned, and totally without vegetables. I would avoid this restaurant like the plague. * In response to your response. First, there is absolutely nothing special about an $11.63 lunch that was literally less food than an elementary school kids lunch. It was the very opposite of special. As to me being responsible for your employees actions or that being a valid excuse, I'm not, and it isn't. I will be disputing the charge and I will never set foot in your establishment again. I will make sure that everyone I know here is aware of the poor service, the horrible and nasty food, the ridiculous price, and how you responded to my issues. No Asian restaurant offers more disparate reviews than Seven Moons. You either love it or loathe it. I love the sushi and the pad thai. The spicy tekka maki is the best I've ever had. And I loooove sushi. But some of my sushi-loving friends don't trust this place. They reference unusual closings and health inspections. I'm not sure what to make of it. I personally have never had a bad experience here and I've gone here for years, utilizing both dine-in service and take out. The place is always crowded. Wicked overrated and rude employees. I ordered spring rolls and didn't realize it was going to be deep fryed. I took one bite to try it and then asked to send it back as it didn't say it was fried and I didn't want it (it was gross). The waitress made a big deal that I already ate it (one bite to try it!) and then I spoke with the manager and he agreed with her that I couldn't get any refund because I already "ate it." What kind of customer service is that? WTF? Other than that the food was so-so. I use to eat here frequently many years ago. I was in town and visiting friends when we decided on sushi for lunch and seven moons has always been on the top of the list. Maybe it was because we went during lunch time or maybe it was just our server. I generally do not scrutinize but I was disappointed in our service. Service lacked attentiveness, hospitality and efficiency after we said we were pressed for time. The food was just like I remember so I will be back for that reason and I hope my experience with the service was just a fluke. Seven Moons is one of the fastest sit down restaurants I have ever eaten at, oh and the food is pretty good too. With that service alone, you should head on over to Seven Moons. Seven Moons is a little off the beaten path on Route 1 in North Kingstown/Quonset area and doesn't look like there is much to it. Wow when you walk in, Seven Moons does have some space, I really don't think you will have a problem with a wait. My GF and I had Nime Chow for an appetizer. It was very well done. We shared a pair of dishes, the Shanghai Noodle and the Loc Lac Chicken. Both were a nice choice to really offset one another. The menu is quite extensive, so there really is something for everyone. And did I mention cheap?! If you are around the NK area or coming back from the beach and have a hankerin' for asian, definitely head on over to Seven Moons. read more

We enjoyed my birthday dinner here last night and were overall satisfied with our food experience. We were a larger group (10 of us) so I made a reservation in advance. We were quickly seated and our drink orders (scorpion bowls...yum!) were taken promptly. After that it seemed as though the service waned and as the restaurant became increasingly more crowded, we saw less and less of our waitress until we hardly saw her at all! I ended up having to get up and get the check and then get up to give her our credit cards as she never came back to us. The poor service aside, we enjoyed our meals! The restaurant appears to have some upgrades and it looks much nicer than I remembered from coming here years ago. The decor was nice and there are many rooms and a large bar space in one of them. The food we found to be delicious and served hot, we had a mishmash of different offerings: pupu platter, dumplings, crab Rangoon, sesame chicken, general tso shrimp, pork friend rice, sushi, noodles, and many more I can't recall! Everyone seemed very happy with their ordering and the portions were huge! I don't frequent the area so I've only dined here twice in the last 5 years but the consistency between those two visits warranted a review. First of all, Seven Moons is novel because they have sunken tables that you have to remove your shoes to sit at. This seems to be a big draw for kids. Secondly, the food is perfectly fine. Nothing more, nothing less but satisfying just the same. Prices are decent and portions are sizable. They have all sorts of Asian offerings from Vietnamese soups to sushi. Seven Moons has become the eatery for the annual Christmas Dinner with my in-laws. Prior to eating here, I was dead set against the idea and wanted to end this Chinese for Christmas tradition. Well, that was all before I put an Egg Roll in fat mouth and my complaining came to a halt. After my in-laws spent two days preparing for a great feast of the seven fishes, I can understand why they don't want to spend their Christmas morning in the kitchen. I've come to embrace the feast of seven fishes married to an Italian over the years, but my tummy is always left feeling as if something is missing. Seven Moons, as much as I complain, is the cure to fill that void on Christmas Day. We usually start off with a round of appetizers. Shrimp Rolls, Dumplings, and Spare Ribs. I have my favorite Chinese restaurant here at home, but Seven Moons has to be the best Chinese food I have had in recent years. The Egg Rolls are pretty thick. For our entrees we went with the vegetable fried rice, beef with string beans in oyster sauce, and of course the crispy duck. There was nothing more enjoyable than to spin that wheel on the table to sample each and every dish. I have had better duck at some Chinese establishments, however Seven Moons is does rank in my top five. You're not going to find the authentic exotic Asian dishes usually reserved for the Chinese families and special functions. Seven Moons serves the same type of Chinese food you would receive at your favorite local Chinese restaurant, but Seven Moons just seem to do it better. The nime chow is good but a bit flavorless, the pad Thai is good but tastes more Chinese than Thai and the other dish we tried today, shrimp and string beans in black bean sauce would have been better had all the beans been strung before they were cooked. I will never eat or order takeout from Seven Moons again. My wife and I ordered salmon nigiri and 4 or 5 rolls. The nigiri tasted old; it had clearly been previously prepared and refrigerated as the fish and rice were dry. The rolls were equally disappointing. The were all squished into one box making it impossible to remove them without destroying several. Another thing: lots of rice. Not so much for the fish. This used to be a decent place but, under new management the quality has deteriorated. This is a restaurant that specializes in various Asian cuisines. I'm not sure they do any of the cuisines well. And, btw, I threw out half my meal. I've never done that before. read more

(sorry it's been a while.) service is good with respect to their workload; we got our water glasses refilled promptly. now if you can only get over that wait, which usually would be an estimated 20-45 minutes, depending on size of party and day of week, you should be all set. seems to be me they open till quite late too. :) read more

They will tailor any meal to your liking and everything I have ordered has always been delicious! The tables in the sushi bar area are adorable. Seems like this place receives either great reviews or horrible ones. Fortunately, my family and I had a really nice time here yesterday for Mother's Day. My fiance and I took my mom, dad, and sister here for dinner. We arrived there around 5pm and barely had a wait, although the place was fairly busy. Our waiter was attentive, funny, and very helpful. When my mom (who is not a drinker by any means) asked about the pomegranate martini that was advertised on the table, the waiter engaged the table next to us to ask them how theirs were. Everyone there suggested them and it brought a real sense of fun to the atmosphere,which started our dinner off in a positive manner. We did order the martinis and they were excellent. Even my parents enjoyed them, which was surprising. For appetizers we ordered the Nigiri sushi sampler, which was a 4 piece dish-somewhat typical, but good. The sushi was very fresh. My parents ordered the crab rangoon, which I didn't try, but also did not hear any complaints about. For entrees, everyone at our table seemed happy with their dishes. I ordered a bento box with salmon teriayki and some calif. rolls. The boxes were good, although there was a little confusion when one of them was mixed up with another. No big deal though, the waiter fixed it promptly. The miso soup was also pretty tasty. Usually I am not a big fan of miso, but theirs was nicely flavored. The tables were a bit small, but our dirty dishes were cleared quickly enough that we were able to manage. I was actually pretty surprised at the ending bill, it really wasn't bad considering we all ordered drinks, apps, and meals. The total was 125 for 5 people. Overall our visit was very satisfying. Seven Moons is an Asian Restaurant in keeping with a modern idea of combining several different asian food styles including thai, chinese, japanese etc. It's a rather large restaurant with two bars, a sushi bar, tatami tables (a low table you sit on the floor, shoes off). A good choice for those that cannot make up their mind, I think there are over 12 pages to the menu. The service is decent, though varying depending on which of the seemingly endless employees is serving you. The sushi is mediocre at best. If sushi absolutely must be eaten (although I wouldn't recommend it) then I would choose one of the sashimi combos available as they are made to order. The sushi and rolls are not good as much of the fish is cut ahead of time, a grave sin for serious sushi eaters. The Nime Chow are light and tasty. Also a plus are the bee bong and other Vietnamese dishes. I would also recommend several of the Japanese COOKED dishes including the Pork Katsu. read more

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. I come here every time I come back to Rhode Island and can never get enough. Their sushi and maki are absolutely amazing. Always the right amount of fish, never too salty, never seems too old, the rice is not too much vinegar either. The orange dragon roll is the most delicious sushi roll I've had in my life. Period. I like maki with creativity and variety. Speaking of variety, this place has it. Their menu is pages and pages long and really I think I could go there 20 more times and still not have tried everything. I haven't eaten anything here that I haven't liked. Their thai green curry chicken soup is amazing, not too spicy and tender chicken. The silver chicken was a nice surprise because we couldn't figure out the description "a silver cocoon" meant tin foil. I've tried the Ban Hoi and that is a fun dish to eat. The seven moons antipasto is a great appetizer platter that is enough to feed four people quite fully. Their dumplings, steamed or fried, are full and delicious and come with a great dipping sauce. And the crab rangoon --- can't get enough. They are smaller than I'd like, but the cream cheese is just the right amount and the combination works so well together. And as far as the staff goes, I've never had any issues with the service, even when the place is tremendously busy it's never a problem waiting in the nice lobby next to the bar that they have, and that just gives us time to make up our mind to order. I both visit and order take out from Seven Moons often. This is probably my favorite Chinese/Asian restaurant in the area. I always find the service to be friendly and attentive when dining in the restaurant. The restaurant is large and I've never had to wait, although on busy Friday and Saturday nights I'm sure there is a wait. We order take out, most often. They have delicious sushi and I definitely recommend their Spicy Thai Chicken Wings. They are our favorite thing on the menu. read more

Last time we went here, there were bones in the sushi (a lot of them) and our teapot was cracked, leaking tea all over us. They wouldn't let us move to a dry table. They have peanut sauce to DIE for. I overdose on nime chow and pad thai every time I'm there. It's absolutely delicious. I agree with past reviews - the waitstaff sucks .. but you can't let it ruin your meal! Some of their dishes are bland. However, they have a huge selection and you're bound to find something you like. Poor customer service. I should have read the warning signs when I was placed "on hold" when ordering for take out. As in, leaving me on the hook for ten minutes, while I listened to their chatter and order taking. Luckily I did prompt to see if white rice come with the entree; which it did not. Rice would come with an entree if this was truly "East Asian" cuisine. Now they do have American-Chinese food items on their menu, which are designed to be eaten with the accompaniment of white rice. Really they should get rid of those menu items "General Tso's chicken, sweet and sour chicken, etc.". And specialize in East Asian cuisine. But they won't, as I suspect the omission of rice is a cost-savings tactic, so is having a few American-Chinese food items on the menu to bring in more money. (And we wonder why many Americans are confused about individual Asian cultures and lump the whole lot of us as "Chinese") The waiting on hold and the omission of rice offered with entrees is not why I rate this a one star. It was the very rude customer service I experienced when I went and picked up my food. It was Christmas evening and the place was busy. I informed the front desk that I would like some sweet and sour sauce (and was willing to pay for the price difference). Instead of trying to provide any semblance of customer service, the answer I got was a very abrupt "No!" followed by "they are busy in the back and I would be waiting a very very long time." The front staff member didn't even entertain my input on the matter (as I would have waited for it; as I was purchasing this item for my children who love that sauce). I felt as though the staff could not be bothered to make an extra effort to run to back a grab a small container of sauce. I would have also accepted a very polite or empathetic explanation (again customer service 101) and an offer to wait if need be. (e.g. "Sorry,Sir, but we are are experiencing a high volume of orders at the moment; but if you would like to wait we can have that item out to you as soon as it is possible") Up until this day, I have always tipped even though it was just take out.
