Kind of a bizarre place. You have to order your appetizer and mains at the same time, no option to order your appetizer first. They served the Moscow mule in a pint glass and it was pretty gross. Plus a $10 split fee! The calamari was thin with no body to it but the sauce it was served with was good. The chicken parm was like a chicken patty - bad quality and in no way worth $24. The pasta was the highlight and was only decent.

Solid Italian fare! We often stroll by Tate's on our occasional traipses through Wickford and tbh, never thought much about trying them until this past Saturday evening when we were hungry and at loose ends. So we went in (fortunately at a seating lull as we didn't make reservations) and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. The table bread and olive oil were respectively crusty/chewy and aromatic - very nice. We shared some very good appetizers of their grilled artichokes (with a piquant aioli) and crab cakes (with a spicy remoulade). My wife had a caesar salad while I had the veal saltimbocca which was very satisfying. We finished the meal with a knock-out almond cake and a couple of cups of piping hot aromatic coffee. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday evening!

Really had high hopes for this place based on reviews and photos but what a let down this past Sunday. Most of the food was pretty decent but the vegetable served with two of the meals were a pile of sautéed onions!! I ordered the veal saltimbocca and somebody else ordered chicken parm with potato and veg. And we were served sautéed onions. Since when are sautéed onions considered a side? For a place that serves food looking like it does, this is completely unacceptable. Even a cold salad would have been appreciated but not even a mention or choice, just a pile of lukewarm onions. Chicken parm was good, and the other meal of sausage and broccoli rabe was ok. Nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about. Overall hard to look and taste past the onions and pretty disappointing!

Wow! When you get Wow'd by takeout you know it's fantastic! The chicken Milanese with greens, beets, Gorgonzola and balsamic was delicious and fresh! Veal parm with homemade shells- YUM! I won't order pasta unless it's homemade and this didn't disappoint-cooked perfectly with one of the best sauces I've had in...forever! Everything is homemade even the bread-which was perfect! Thank you for being open for takeout during these difficult times! I can not wait to order again soon and I definitely can't wait to dine in when we are able!

I went to Tate's tonight and was so very pleased!! The drinks were all made perfect. They use real espresso in their martinis and the gin and tonics were good as well. The chopped salad was great. And the VEAL PARM was awesome! The veal was cooked perfecto with some homemade shells!! I wish I took another veal parm order home for tomorrow because it was so good. But I took a slice of carrot cake to have with my morning coffee. Great portion size, service was good, the inside was clean. I can't wait to go back.

The smoked pork noodles was heavy and had a high level of spice in part of the dish, would recommend to mix it well to evenly distribute. We lucked into a last-minute Saturday reservation for four in the upstairs deck room, and the atmosphere was moody, romantic, and perfect for a nice night out. The menu is à la carte, so you'll order your steak and sides separately. We shared the tomahawk steak with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and the mac & cheese, plus espresso martinis to start. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the portion sizes were much larger than we expected--we definitely could have ordered less and still left completely satisfied. What really stood out, though, was the service. Everyone we interacted with was warm, authentic, and genuinely helpful, making the whole experience feel welcoming without being over-the-top. Between the incredible food, beautiful waterfront views, and fantastic service, this is a must-visit steakhouse in Newport. We'd happily come back the next time we're in town.

Ambiance: 5/5 This is what carries the place. An elite spot in Newport, Rhode Island with fantastic vibes. The location and atmosphere are just exceptional. Five out of five, no question. Service: 2/5 Not what you'd expect at this price point. Drinks took a while, and we never got bread while other tables did. The waiter wasn't rude, but at a premium steakhouse, I expect premium service. Simple as that. Food: 3/5 My wife and I ordered the New York strip, two lobster tails, lobster bisque, and a side of asparagus. The lobster bisque was fantastic -- loaded with lobster, incredibly tasty. My wife called it a top five lobster bisque she's ever had. Only knock was it wasn't piping hot when it arrived. The lobster tails were the star of the show. Truly excellent -- warm lobster butter, cooked perfectly. But I'll be honest, you're in the lobster capital of the world. I expect that. Other restaurants in Newport probably deliver the same. The New York strip was disappointing. I ordered medium rare and it came out closer to medium well. For a $55 steak at a place known for their steaks, that is simply not acceptable. The cut itself wasn't impressive either. I've been to great steakhouses around the world and this does not belong in that conversation. Overall: 3/5 Come here for the vibes -- it's a genuinely great date night spot in one of the most beautiful settings in New England. The food is good but expensive, and the service needs work. What gets them through is their location and atmosphere, and they know tourists will come and pay the premium regardless. If you're expecting an elite steakhouse experience, look elsewhere. If you're expecting a beautiful night out in Newport, you'll leave happy.

Our server, Larry, was attentive, genuinely personable and provided excellent service. I started with the Salerno Sidecar ($14), and it might just be one of the best cocktails I've ever had. For my entrée, I chose the house-made gnocchi ($29), and it was divine. Larry mentioned they make it from scratch, and it absolutely showed--each bite was like a soft, pillowy cloud, perfectly complemented by a rich, flavorful sauce. We all shared bites of each other's dishes, and not a single plate disappointed. I sampled their chicken Toscana, chicken Milanese, rigatoni Bolognese and fettuccine scampi.
