The heirloom tomato appetizer was excellent, the Oysters Rockerfeller were some of the best I've had, although I wish they used a bit bigger oysters, and my smash burger was outstanding. The gentlemen behind the bar was also very good. My wife had a lamb dish which she enjoyed and a nice cocktail to go with it all. The owner(?) said hi on our way out with genuine concern to ensure our meal met expectations. This was our first, but certainly not last time coming to Press for a nice dinner. The calamari was cooked perfectly, and the watermelon feta salad was something I'd never had before. Sweet, savory, refreshing... both are absolute must-orders. Next up was a cup of the New England Clam Chowder. You can't go wrong with a classic, and this one didn't disappoint. For lunch, I went with the Wickford Lobster Roll... WOW! Served warm with melted butter, the only correct way to eat a lobster roll in my book. It was packed with lobster, buttery, and absolutely delicious. If you visit, this is a must-have! Others at our table ordered the Fish Tacos and a Hamburger, and everyone cleaned their plates. That's always a good sign. The service was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and always there when we needed something without ever feeling rushed. We made a new friend before we even walked in the door, which says a lot about the vibe here. There was live music playing, and we wanted to enjoy it while still being able to chat, so we were given a great little corner spot at the bar. Mallory greeted us warmly and gave thoughtful recommendations after I asked a few questions about food intolerances. I really appreciated that. We started with the tostada nachos, which were very tasty and spicy. Then my beau enjoyed the fish and chips and a stuffie and I had the steak frites with parmesan truffle fries. Everything was flavorful and well prepared. We also enjoyed a few cocktails. The blueberry cucumber mule was delicious and I will absolutely be back for another. The rest of the food was far less fine. One of the specialty menu items is a "PASTRAMI SAMMICH". The house made pastrami was dry and tough, a hard thing to imagine from this particular cut, but this version was cooked to the consistency of leather. Some bits had an inedible crunch. If I were to guess, this sandwich had been left on a grill unattended, not to great effect. Thats definitely what happened to my cheeseburger. I'm limiting the amount of ground beef I eat in an effort toward a healthier me. A burger for me is now a rarest treat. I didn't bother to eat all of this one, after a second bite of the overdone frozen restaurant pack beef I figured it's not worth wasting one of my burgers on this. They make their breakfast sandwich fresh to order and they are just super tasty. The bread is perfect and I love that it is made in house and not some mass produced thing. I haven't tried any of the other baked goods yet, but I definitely have those and the lunch sandwiches on my radar too. The employees are always super friendly and genuinely seem happy to help!
