Went here for dinner and our reservation was at 8:45pm. The staff sat us and never rushed us while we were there even though their closing time was 9pm. We were still mindful of the time and order pretty quickly. Our server helped us with the menu and told us what the popular dishes are when we had a hard to deciding. Best ramen in RI~ Came here since we were in the area~ we ordered some dumplings and a bun along with ramen~ I got the spicy miso. For drinks I got a refresher ~ refresher wasn't too outstanding but it helped with my spicy ramen~ my ramen so was savory and flavorful~ tasty, wasn't fatty or too oily. It had just good flavors that weren't too heavy but definitely filling and satisfying. My partners ramen was also very flavorful and tasty without the typical fatty, oily, tastes I usually get. We asked the server for the check since we need to leave soon after to make it on time for an event, and she gave us the check, and some to-go containers in case we needed it, which was very considerate! The appetizer were solid, good, but you MUST try the ramen. Spicy ramen was worth it if you need a good hangover soup or super chilly, or just want to sweat~ the egg and corn pieces were such soothing ingredients ~ Will be back for sure, even if the drive and parking is a hassle. I've seen the place before on yelp with good reviews and wanted to try for a while but since i don't go to newport often we decided to give it a try since we were in the area. It's a ramen shop in busy newport touristic area by the port. It's located inside the plaza and has parkings as well. Its was busy time of the week so the parking was full so we ended up finding a street parking a but far and walked over. Since its was nice out they had outside patio seatings as well but it was busy so we sat inside. Inside is decent size and has multiple seatings and tables that accommodates medium size groups. They seem to also have their own ramen noodle making area where the worker is hand making noodles and you can see them through the glass. We sat down and looked at the menu. They offer variety of drinks including bubble tea, alcoholic drinks and refresher as well with some interesting flavors. There are some appetizers and ramen noodle options. We tried the gochujang chicken bao bun, and spicy chili dumplings as appetizers.i tried their hong kong bubble tea and got the tonkotsu ramen. Gochujang chicken bao bun was tasty. Nice and fluffy bun and flavorful fried chicken paired well. I was expecting more or gochujang flavor but it actually tasted more like buffalo or hot chicken. Spicy chili dumplings were okay. Hong kong tea had good tea flavor and boba was chewy and sweet. The tonkotsu ramen was quite good. Flavorful pork broth paired well with garlic oil. Noodles were firm and thin as they seemed to be hand made. Chasu was fatty and flavorful. Egg was good but could use a bit more flavor if they were be marinated and should be a bit more yolky for ramen eggs. Overall a solid ramen. Service was good and the waitress was attentive. When i mentioned that i had to leave in a timely manner as we were going to be on a sunset cruise she brought the check right away with some bag and bowls to take the leftover home which was thoughtful. Overall we had a great experience at the restaurant and i was quite impressed by their ramen especially considering the options available in RI. We love the Yagi in PVD at Track 15 so went to check out the bigger menu in Newport. We tried one of the sparkling matcha drinks and also the cold noodles. It was a cold, wintry night and my wind battered soul needed a thaw. Looking for comfort, the deep red, steaming pot of spicy miso ramen flashed across my phone. This was what ramen was made for. I walked in feeling (and looking) like Jack Frost. Only the brave were venturing about, so the restaurant was minimally packed and we were seated immediately. Szechuan cauliflower? Yes please. I would come back here for that cauliflower alone and order three servings of it. It was perfectly crispy and smothered in spicy sauce. The miso ramen broth was flavorful and spicy. Just what I was looking for. They used brown rice noodles which had a consistency that I would describe as slightly clumpy and with a different taste than traditional noodles. Friday night visit just before the "snowstorm of the decade," and this place still had a pretty good crowd. Service was great from start to finish. The focus here is ramen, with a small lineup of appetizers and a surprisingly good selection of sakes by the glass or bottle (not just the little cans you see elsewhere). We started with the salted potatoes and then moved on to ramens, which was rich, comforting, and exactly what you want on a cold night. And a BIG portion. They can prepare many items gluten free, and if you're unsure about your spice tolerance, you can get the chili oil on the side, which is a nice touch. The boba is trash. I ordered three different drinks, and they tasted pretty much the same. If you're a boba enthusiast, don't get their drinks. The ramen noodles tasted bland and the texture was way off, and the chili oil dumplings tasted vaguely like bbq sauce. Out of all the things I ordered, the dumplings were the best. The service was slow even though there was basically no one in the restaurant, and the waiter gave the check even though I hadn't finished eating halfway. For an eatery right in the thick of a trendy shopping area, Yagi surpassed my expectations -- unique, savory food across the menu, delicious boba drinks, and an aesthetically lovely place to spend some time. After sharing the pork dumplings (delicious!), I had the beef tantanmen ramen. It had a peanut broth -- mildly spicy, a jammy egg, edamame, and a tiny saffron nest. The strawberry matcha boba was delicious and they had no issue with my substituting oat milk for coconut. My husband loved his ramen and drink as well. Excellent and friendly service. I'd sit at the bar sometime, mostly because it is covered in the perfect shade of golden tiles, but also people looked to having a nice time together up there. Surprising little gem I'd recommend to anyone! This is the kind of food that satisfies your soul, not just your belly. After a cozy little lunch you can shop around downtown Newport and pick up a little wooden boat to adorn your house, or drive for five minutes and bring yourself to a mansion tour. Life is good here. I was in the Newport area of Rhode Island and turned to Yelp for dining suggestions. Yagi Noodles caught my attention, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The White Peach Fruit Tea was overly sweet, making it hard to finish. The biggest letdown was the Tonkotsu Ramen, it lacked flavor, and the char siu was so heavily charred that it turned the broth black, coating the noodles and marinated egg with a bitter taste. As shown in the photos, nearly half the broth turned black, which really affected the dish. The bao buns were just okay, nothing memorable. While the restaurant had a nice ambiance, I really wish the food had lived up to it. The waiter that took care of us was very nice! read more

Stopped by while on vacation in Newport. Amazing udon and dumplings! The udon is all made in house from scratch, and you can tell. The dumplings rivaled some of the best I've ever had. All the meat dishes except the chicken dumpling were a little spicy, so I went vegetarian. The service was slow, the waitress was great, but just not enough staff. Also, nearby parking was $20, so be prepared. They also make their boba in house from scratch. We didn't get to try it because they ran out, but sounds good. read more

I love me some specialty Ramen! I came here while having a day out in Newport and I was pretty impressed. The staff were all great and friendly, & they have indoor and outdoor dining. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the food menu is a little bit small. Not much to choose from, but still tastes delicious. They do have a large drink menu though; alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They also have delicious milk teas with Boba. On the food menu, they have a few different specialty Ramen to choose from, a few different appetizers, and they also have bao buns, which were extremely delicious... Unfortunately, my daughter chomped into it before I got to take a picture lol. We did not have to wait extremely long for our food either. To me the prices are pretty decent, to others they may seem $$$. I would recommend this restaurant two people visiting Newport as it is not as expensive as other restaurants over there.! read more

Oh how I wish my dish wasn't overly salted. The flavor of the broth was delightful, but painfully salty - and that's coming from a sailor. It wasn't until I struggled through most of it, because I'm not one to send back food, that my boyfriend and I were comparing broths and realized that his (though same order) was absolute perfection. Eggs were gooey and jammy, and the noodles had a nice bounce. Tonkatsu ramen was delicious! The presentation was so beautiful and unique. The ramen was topped with char sui pork, alfalfa, marinated onion, finely chopped scallion, crispy mushroom and marinated egg. It was a nice twist to a traditional tonkatsu ramen. To celebrate Chinese New Year, I decided to dine at Yagi Noodles as they adapted their menu for the celebration. First I stopped at Mothet Pizzeria which is across the mall for their Appertivo Hour, which I enjoyed a special drink and then onto Yagi Noodles for dinner. I ordered the longevity noodles which like their ramen noodles were homemade. It was excellent. I haven't eaten here in a few years and I'm sorry I waited so long. The noodles were cooked to perfection, the dish was delicious. I also ordered some broth to add as the dish was served broth less as well as a side of kimchi and chili oil crunch. Oh so good. Chef Basil was cooking and I admired that he chooses to be hands on. They have renovated their restaurant in the last year adding bar and bar seating which I liked and added a room set aside for their ramen noodle making. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, no pressure with your dining experience during your stay. I definitely will not wait as long to return. Best. Ramen. Ever. Okay I am exaggerating. No, I am not really exaggerating. The noodles I ate here are some of the best I have ever had. I will stop short of that... for now. Pretty servers. Pretty honest servers, friendly servers, and all the more reason to get that kaedama (refill for you non-ramen sequiturs). The broth is just too good to let it all go to waste. Because I had such an amazing experience here, I gave not one, but two generous tips to two servers. One generous tip for my server for genuine honesty about the menu; another generous tip to another server for being a hard worker; not just giving friendly smiles and delivering lines from the server script. We meandered in right before our ferry ride back to PVD was due to arrive. We saw a diner seated on the outdoor patio, and that's what caught our eye. The menu posted outside looked pretty varied with ramen bowls, bao buns, and Katsu. We really lucked out with blindly dining in without reading prior reviews. The TANTANMEN ramen bowl and SPICY MISO ramen bowl and chewy housemade ramen noodles with rich broths. The portion sizes were just right. My daughter's BRUSSELS SPROUTS app was crunchy and flavorful with bonito flakes and pickled ginger; however it was over seasoned in some spots. This is a seasonal app and is supposedly quite a popular menu item. It definitely has a flair for the dramatics. The OYSTER MUSHROOM BAO had a wonderfully light bun and savory local RI mushroom filling. I could have eaten three of these. The PANDAN RICE KRISPIES was a beautiful bright pandan green color, dotted with opaque white mochi bites. The rice treat was perfectly chewy and the mochi bites definitely enhanced it. I love that we stopped in blindly. We were rewarded with a cool and delicious place to dine. My sister ordered a THAI TEA BOBA drink that arrived in the cutest glass. The tapioca was sweet and chewy but slightly underdone. We had a lovely view of their extensive sake case. I will definitely have to check out the bottle service next time. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was honestly frustrating from start to finish. We were the first table to arrive, got seated right away, and then... completely forgotten. Multiple groups came in after us, ordered, received their food, ate, and even paid before anyone came back to check on us. We had to flag someone down just to get an update on our order, and even then it felt like we were inconveniencing the staff. No apology, no explanation--just indifference. When the food finally arrived (after an unreasonably long wait), it definitely wasn't worth it. The ramen broth was bland and watery, lacking any depth or richness you'd expect. The noodles were overcooked, and the toppings tasted like they'd been sitting out for hours. For a place that specializes in ramen, it was shockingly underwhelming. Between the terrible service and the flavorless food, this was a disappointing experience all around. I won't be coming back, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The Tonkotsu broth tasted like old grease even the meat tasted old (not spoiled, just old). The spicy ramen was not flavorful, I guess I came on an off day or something. The bao buns were probably the best thing we ordered and my daughter loved the taro boba, but the lavender boba had way too much lavender syrup it over powered the drink. The service was OK just dont ask for cold water we did and got tap warm water instead. There was one waitress that was attentive so thats a plus. I cldnt finish it (very rare for me and a cocktail..) The kakiage udon (only veg option) i found to b quite bland (and im usually always saying things r oversalted or too flavorful) and i found that even togarashi could not save... i did enjoy the kung pao cauliflower and veggie dumplings were inoffensive. Yagi was much different than what I had imagined. Being in the previous space of Liberty donuts I thought it was a tiny little noodle shop. It's been open for a while and I passed by it numerous times. Incidently it only caught my attention when I was reading the profile of the dessert chef of Castle Hill Inn. She had Yagi Noodle on her resume. This is when I knew I had to try Yagi noodle. My daughter and I came here during restaurant week. Reservation system was interesting as you request for a time on the website and they will confirm that it's available. Lucky for me they had the time available. Yagi is BYOB. That's like the best thing in the world. I grabbed some yummy sake from the package store and off we went. I found the staff at Yagi to be very hospitable At every turn they checked up on us and it wasn't just out main server that checked up on us. All the servers including the owner worked together to give the patrons there excellent service. All the staff had a smile on their face and that's nice to see as it shows what type of work culture that Yagi has. Well off to the food. I ordered three dishes from the restaurant menu. The pork dumplings were excellent. Maybe a tab bit too much sauce for me. But it wasn't that hard to scrap some off of it. The wagyu beef stick was delicious. It was a part of the beef that I never heard of so it's always nice to try something new. I normally don't like wagyu too much as it seems too fatty for me but this beef wasn't like that. My kid and I had Ramen dishes. Now to be fair we both are not Ramen people. I realized this many many years ago. But considering I'm not a Ramen person these two bowls were excellent. The layering of the flavors were excellent and the noodle texture was spot on. I'll be interested in trying the rice dishes next time. The dessert was okay. Maybe a bit too sweet for me but thats how I feel about most of the desserts. The grape soda was really good. Although 7.50 for a soda is a tad bit expensive. My family visited Newport, Rhode Island during December and Yagi Noodles was one of two ramen restaurants that I looked up close to where we were staying. Since it was our first restaurant stop, we didn't know better and spent $10 parking lot. There was plenty of free street parking during the winter time in Newport. Not being from the area, we did not know any better. For appetizer, we ordered the chicken karage with the spicy Korean gochujang sauce on the side. It was plentiful, and in retrospect, a good decision to keep the sauce on the side. My husband and I both ordered the tonkotsu ramen while my son had the duck version. The broth was very rich and delicious, I ate to the very last drop. The micro green garnishments was a nice touch, however, the mushrooms were amazing. It added such a nice earthy taste. There should be a mushroom appetizer dish made of just these mushrooms! I liked it that much! The pork meat was very much to my liking as well, nice thick cuts with a chewy/bouncy texture. Most ramen restaurants that I have been to, the pork slices are either too thinly sliced, or they are huge chunks of melting fat. The drinks menu was the deciding factor and what made me picked this ramen location over another location I was looking at in the area. The matcha strawberry latte with added lychee jelly was amazing. I highly recommend this! We also ordered the brown sugar milk tea boba and that was good as well. Overall, the service was excellent, and the food and drinks were great. The interior was very clean and had comfortable bench seatings with pillow cushions for your back, which was nice. I feel like in the last 5 years there has been a huge improvement on restaurant options located in a strip mall -- growing up it was always fast food or semi fast food in these types of locations. Yagi is definitely one of those restaurants that elevates a strip mall! It's a spacious, clean, great lighting with the nicest and most knowledgeable staff. I feel like the people there are excited about the food, which made me excited to try! They have your staple ramen options & they have experimental options too. I had a ramen in a spicy pork broth, ground beef, edamame, egg & chili oil. And for an app, the squash blossom ragoon -- the filling similar to a crab ragoon, filled in a squash flower & deep fried. I really wanted to love this place. I drove down from Providence just to try it and I was so disappointed. I'll start with the good: The service was awesome. The bao bun appetizer was definitely yummy. Was it as good as Ebisu? No. Was it expensive for what it was? Yes. They put pickled onions in the ramen I ordered, which was unique and delicious. The bad: My tonkatsu ramen broth had zero flavor. The broth tasted like watered down chicken broth. I should've asked for chili oil or something to add to it. After reading other reviews, it seems like the general consensus is that this type of ramen is bland and not at all flavorful. I wish I read these reviews before I ordered. The homemade ramen noodles themselves tasted like whole grain spaghetti from Stop and Shop. I realllly wanted to like this place. Based on the rest of the reviews, maybe I just came on an off night? Or maybe I'm just spoiled by the ramen in the northern part of the state? Some of the other appetizers looked really good and I regret not getting those instead of my ramen dish.
