    Spicy Miso

It was a cold, wintry night and my wind battered soul needed a thaw. Looking for comfort, the deep red, steaming pot of spicy miso ramen flashed across my phone. This was what ramen was made for. I walked in feeling (and looking) like Jack Frost. Only the brave were venturing about, so the restaurant was minimally packed and we were seated immediately. Szechuan cauliflower? Yes please. I would come back here for that cauliflower alone and order three servings of it. It was perfectly crispy and smothered in spicy sauce. The miso ramen broth was flavorful and spicy. Just what I was looking for. They used brown rice noodles which had a consistency that I would describe as slightly clumpy and with a different taste than traditional noodles. The rest of the toppings were as expected. The interior was very well decorated and felt upscale. It was a nice experience dining here.

Friday night visit just before the "snowstorm of the decade," and this place still had a pretty good crowd. Service was great from start to finish. The focus here is ramen, with a small lineup of appetizers and a surprisingly good selection of sakes by the glass or bottle (not just the little cans you see elsewhere). We started with the salted potatoes and then moved on to ramens, which was rich, comforting, and exactly what you want on a cold night. And a BIG portion. They can prepare many items gluten free, and if you're unsure about your spice tolerance, you can get the chili oil on the side, which is a nice touch. Overall, a very nice meal and I'd definitely recommend it.

Beautiful dining area with little seasonal touches and natural light!

For an eatery right in the thick of a trendy shopping area, Yagi surpassed my expectations -- unique, savory food across the menu, delicious boba drinks, and an aesthetically lovely place to spend some time. After sharing the pork dumplings (delicious!), I had the beef tantanmen ramen. It had a peanut broth -- mildly spicy, a jammy egg, edamame, and a tiny saffron nest. The strawberry matcha boba was delicious and they had no issue with my substituting oat milk for coconut. My husband loved his ramen and drink as well. Excellent and friendly service. I'd sit at the bar sometime, mostly because it is covered in the perfect shade of golden tiles, but also people looked to having a nice time together up there. Surprising little gem I'd recommend to anyone! This is the kind of food that satisfies your soul, not just your belly. After a cozy little lunch you can shop around downtown Newport and pick up a little wooden boat to adorn your house, or drive for five minutes and bring yourself to a mansion tour. Life is good here. Why not add speciality ramen to the mix.

We came with a big party of 16 and had made a few separate reservations, but they were very gracious to seat us all together, despite the short notice. It took a while for our food to come out, but considering we were such a large party, that made sense. The tonkotsu broth was very rich and creamy. It was very tasty, but a little too thick for my personal preference. The noodles were decent, but the toppings were the best part - two halves of a jammy egg, a crispy mushroom, pickled red onions, sprouts. and delicious char siu slices. My husband got the curry katsu and really enjoyed it. The chicken katsu was crispy and tender, and the curry had good portions of potato chunks and sauce over the rice (and jammy eggs!). We also got a strawberry matcha boba to share, which was quite good too. Overall, it was great place to grab lunch!

I was in the Newport area of Rhode Island and turned to Yelp for dining suggestions. Yagi Noodles caught my attention, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The White Peach Fruit Tea was overly sweet, making it hard to finish. The biggest letdown was the Tonkotsu Ramen, it lacked flavor, and the char siu was so heavily charred that it turned the broth black, coating the noodles and marinated egg with a bitter taste. As shown in the photos, nearly half the broth turned black, which really affected the dish. The bao buns were just okay, nothing memorable. While the restaurant had a nice ambiance, I really wish the food had lived up to it. The waiter that took care of us was very nice!

Stopped by while on vacation in Newport. Amazing udon and dumplings! The udon is all made in house from scratch, and you can tell. The dumplings rivaled some of the best I've ever had. All the meat dishes except the chicken dumpling were a little spicy, so I went vegetarian. The service was slow, the waitress was great, but just not enough staff. Also, nearby parking was $20, so be prepared. They also make their boba in house from scratch. We didn't get to try it because they ran out, but sounds good.

I love me some specialty Ramen! I came here while having a day out in Newport and I was pretty impressed. The staff were all great and friendly, & they have indoor and outdoor dining. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the food menu is a little bit small. Not much to choose from, but still tastes delicious. They do have a large drink menu though; alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They also have delicious milk teas with Boba. On the food menu, they have a few different specialty Ramen to choose from, a few different appetizers, and they also have bao buns, which were extremely delicious... Unfortunately, my daughter chomped into it before I got to take a picture lol. We did not have to wait extremely long for our food either. To me the prices are pretty decent, to others they may seem $$$. I would recommend this restaurant two people visiting Newport as it is not as expensive as other restaurants over there.!

Oh how I wish my dish wasn't overly salted. The flavor of the broth was delightful, but painfully salty - and that's coming from a sailor. It wasn't until I struggled through most of it, because I'm not one to send back food, that my boyfriend and I were comparing broths and realized that his (though same order) was absolute perfection. Eggs were gooey and jammy, and the noodles had a nice bounce. They don't adhere to extra spicy - bottled sriracha and chili oil are their only options, so bring some heat in your purse if you are like me and want to feel the hurt.

This is a pleasant surprise in Newport! It's a small menu, but what it does (ramen and udon) it does well. It also has delightful surprises like squash blossom Rangoon, which sounds like it shouldn't work but somehow does. It's very clean and tastefully decorated. Service was super friendly as well. You will come away being very full and satisfied- definitely recommend!

Very good food. We Didn't get a reservation so we had to wait 15 mins. But the food came out in less than ten minutes after ordering. It went extremely fast. The decore was very cool and the ambiance was dark and modern. The food was amazing.

To celebrate Chinese New Year, I decided to dine at Yagi Noodles as they adapted their menu for the celebration. First I stopped at Mothet Pizzeria which is across the mall for their Appertivo Hour, which I enjoyed a special drink and then onto Yagi Noodles for dinner. I ordered the longevity noodles which like their ramen noodles were homemade. It was excellent. I haven't eaten here in a few years and I'm sorry I waited so long. The noodles were cooked to perfection, the dish was delicious. I also ordered some broth to add as the dish was served broth less as well as a side of kimchi and chili oil crunch. Oh so good. Chef Basil was cooking and I admired that he chooses to be hands on. They have renovated their restaurant in the last year adding bar and bar seating which I liked and added a room set aside for their ramen noodle making. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, no pressure with your dining experience during your stay. I definitely will not wait as long to return. Thank you for your consistency in your food .

Pretty good place for ramen if in Newport. Big portions and friendly staff. I wished they offered bamboo as a topping though. We ordered chicken karaage for apps which I did not like. The sauce was overwhelming for me. First time we went, we ordered cucumber salad and kale salad which was good. Pretty filling to share between only two people. We ordered the spicy miso and tantanman for entrees and I think the spicy miso tastes better. Prob should have gotten that the second time but I'm familiar with tantanman. We also tried the sake flight which was fun and delicious bc Tom gave us a little history on their selection. Definitely will return.

Tucked away in the Corrigan Financial complex just off Aquidneck you will find this awesome sushi/ramen factory! The service is definitely on point and very attentive to your needs. Quickly sat on a Saturday afternoon and took a look over the specials menu and just had to try the Sushi Pizza. Interesting concept and very filling, hot starter for more than just yourself for sure. The sushi rice is fried to create the base and then the toppings with protein selection is applied. I tried it with spicy salmon and it was good, little light with protein, but flavorful. For my main I went with spicy miso ramen which comes with three tempura shrimp as well. It was a hefty meal for one and needless to say I brought home my future meal as I could not make it through everything. The broth had a light to medium spice level and hit the ramen spot. There is a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails as well, I opted for some green tea which was hot and warmed me up perfectly. The vibe is relaxing and casual to easily enjoy group conversations if you have company with you. There is bar seating along with general seating booths or tables throughout the restaurant. We began with spring rolls (VERY good - chicken and shrimp) and sake, and the sake program deserves special mention. We selected a very enjoyable $38 bottle and noticed several other bottles at lower price points, along with a wide selection of canned sake--many around $11. Some diners may balk at paying that much for a can, but they will happily pay more for a mediocre glass of wine at half the volume. The value here is actually quite good, especially for those looking to explore sake beyond the ordinary. Our entrées--the ramen and chicken katsu--were excellent. The ramen featured a rich, deeply satisfying broth, while the chicken katsu was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within. If you want a "hotter " ramen - the have an add on for a buck. Service was warm and attentive, reflecting the pride that often comes with a family-owned business. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, allowing the quality of the food to take center stage. Bristol is fortunate to have Sakuratani. Strong Japanese dining options can be hard to find outside larger cities, and for a restaurant only a year old, they seem to be doing many things right. We look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu--and their sake offerings. Highly recommended.

The creamy, rich broth was balanced, the noodles were bouncy (maybe homemade?), and the toppings were all good! Personally I am not a fan of thick pieces of pork chashu, so just keep that in mind when ordering that meat topping. Otherwise, excellent! Service: it was pretty slow so we got in immediately. I just came here a couple of days ago for a Yelp event (please check that review for my thoughts on…read morethe pork bun and Sapporo-style ramen on their menu). I liked it so much that I decided to come back and dragged my co-worker with me. The interior is sort of a long narrow-ish setup, with seating on one side, and the ordering counter on the other side. Edison-style bulbs lined the area, providing a warm, orange-ish light. Cozy. You walk up to the counter and order. They'll give you a number and bring your order to your table. I ordered the blackened tuna bun and O.G. Miso ramen (with an addition of pork and egg), with a Yuki Tora sake. The tuna bun was tasty. I believe the tuna was aburi torched, and it was topped with carrots, scallions, wakame, and sesame seeds. It also had eel sauce and wasabi, which created a great flavor combination between the piercing spice of wasabi and the sweetness of eel sauce. The O.G. Miso ramen used a miso broth, with carrots, cabbage, shiitake, topped with scallions, sesame seeds, and a piece of nori. And of course, I added pork and an egg to it. I love shiitake in my ramen broth, as it adds a bit of savoriness, and also provides a bit of meaty texture. The miso flavor in this broth is much more prominent compared to the Sapporo-style ramen, however, I found Sapporo-style broth much more complex and balanced. I think what I was missing in this would be a drizzle of sesame oil. I also got a Yuki Tora nigori sake with my meal, which I found I loved from the Yelp event a couple of days ago. One with the meal, and another one as just dessert after the meal. Also convinced my co-worker to try it, and he also liked it. This place is definitely worth the visit. In general, you won't find ramen this good unless you're willing to go into the city and pay as much for an hour's worth of parking as your meal costs.

As my personal rule, I never tip before finishing my meal. I ordered the house ramen and a mapo mushroom omusubi. I like how the ramen uses local veggies. The pork was fine, but I didn't like its somewhat dry texture. The broth was a bit too strong and/or salty for my liking, but I don't hold that against it--it reminds me of ramen I've had in Japan, which is a positive if you're looking for something more authentic. (However, I am finding that a lot of ramen just isn't for me!) I got the mapo mushroom onigiri for takeout. I liked it! It's a little spicy and quite flavorful, pairing with the rice well. All-in-all it was a very laidback experience and I would want coming back here again if I'm in the area.

It has a spicy chili oil on the side that you mix in along with the pickled radish which was more salty than pickled tasting. One bunch of noodles wasn't properly cooked and clumped at a section.
