This place was such an incredible find as I needed my husbands polo shirt sleeves shortened a day before our trip. She accommodated a "same day" service in less than an hour! I don't know why this place has good review. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I just came from this place. I wanted to shorten some pants. She measured then said that it will be ready next week. If I want this by tomorrow, I have to pay extra. I did not want to pay extra neither did I want to wait so I told her I will come back some other time. Then she was upset because I wasted her time and her invoice which costs $0.20 saying "I don't want to service you, do not come back" This kind of things are also part of your business. read more

Fast, quality, and affordable! I brought in three dresses to be altered: one a hem job ($15), one a broken strap ($3), and one's back strap needed to be taken in ($12). Pricing-wise, I felt like the hem job was charged a little too much (although maybe the jersey knit material is hard to work with?), and taking in the back strap was charged too little (seems like a tough job to me). But overall, beautiful stitching, great pricing, and it was done in a week! I came on a separate occasion with a rush job (needed to take in the seams of that same dress that she originally took the back straps in). I needed it the next day, as I was flying out on a vacation and wanted to take the dress with me. At first she sewed in as much as she could on a pleat and wasn't going to charge me, possibly because she's already done work on the dress. But I wanted more taken in, so she told me to come back the following day and only charged me $10. Not bad for a super rush job! She says she usually takes a week (she's a busy woman!). In getting price quotes for hemming jeans/pants from the top alterations businesses on Yelp (still haven't gotten those hems done yet), Sew Good came out a few dollars cheaper than Linh's. I'm assuming these prices carry on for other forms of alterations. She makes you try on the clothes in a dressing room first, so she knows how much to alter (so ladies, make sure you wear the appropriate shoes for the outfit if you're going in for a hem), and then when you pick it up, she makes you try it on again to make sure its been altered properly and to your liking. Overall, very happy with the cost/benefit ratio! Cash only! p.s. Took off a star because there's no dedicated parking. Find street parking on Liliha, which I've found the times I went, but it's still a little nervewracking to know there's no dedicated parking on a busy street like Liliha. p.p.s. Other reviewers have said she's "grouchy" but she's actually a very sweet lady. I think she might come off as "grouchy" because English isn't her forte. Long story short....got a new uniform top that required 4 patches to be sewn on and they needed to be done that day. Went to Sew Good...the lady was working on something else but stopped to examine what I brought in. To my surprise, she says "give me 1 hour" and I was thrilled. I told her that id be back, that I had to run to an ATM and would be back in 10 minutes. I leave and come back...literally 10 minutes later...and BOOM...It was done. Like...already?! Wow. I can honestly see myself being a permanent client here. It's close to home and I'm not sacrificing an arm and a leg to pay for my alterations. I'm one of those females who are stuck in those "in between" sizes.. Pants are either too big or too small .. don't forget to add that I'm short and the size I CAN fit, apparently I'm supposed to be 5'9" or something with a big badonk. but I digress.. My younger sister had to get her band uniform hemmed (I guess I can say my mom birthed children who are just too short for the size we fit ((thanks mom))).. She read about this place and seeing that she had to take in my sister's uniform, I thought I'd take in a couple of work slacks that I've been wanting to hem. I have 10 or so pants that I needed hemmed but I figured, just take a couple and see how you like it. Like everyone stated, parking can be really bothersome. Luckily we were able to find a metered stall in front of the noodle factory, which is just a few shops down from Sew Good. **What I like about these meters as opposed to someplace else (chinatown), 25 cents will get you 20 minutes rather than 8 or 10 minutes. ** When we got there and changed into the garments we wanted hemmed, she took less than 5 minutes to measure and pin. I was fast since it was just pants but my sister took maybe the whole five minutes since hers was a uniform and it needed to be a certain length. I'm not sure what other people meant when they were saying she wasn't very "personable". She's a FOB-Upfront-Blunt Chinese woman (Janice H. I'm going to use your line ^_^) but you shouldn't take offense to her "bluntness".. that's just how she is but she really is a sweetheart. I guess if you come in being rude then expect the same in return, but luckily we were raised right and were very nice to her. If we wanted something longer, we said longer.. shorter? then say "shorter"..Janice H. I'm going to copy you again..Please remember to bring the necessary footwear you plan to wear your items with. After we got our items measured, she informed us it'll be ready in a week. How great is that?.. I've looked at some places downtown where I work and people have said two weeks.. For pants? not to mention charging a ridiculous amount just for a hem.. I paid $8 for each pants. ******Visit #2&3 ***************** I picked up my pants from my first visit.. Loved the outcome! I can now wear my pants without a bunch of material pooling around my ankles. I had her hem a few more pants (slacks and jeans) and I also asked her to fix two pants with ripped stitches around the crotch (how embarrassing that I discovered them after a long day at work) she fixed those for $4 and she even included fixing the entire stitching throughout my pants. She noticed how weak the stitches were (these pants were from macys!) so I gave her four pants and paid $40 for the hem and stitch repair. My sister also has a dress for orchestra that she needed hemmed.. poor thing was drowning in it. We needed a hem and a take-in (so she didn't look like she was wearing a parachute) Again, everything would be ready in a week. How great! 10/15/15 - She's leaving for China this saturday and will be gone for two weeks!! What's great is that she remembers my sister from her band uniform and like always, she's so kind. She's a pro!! Parking - street parking! Or you can be like that rude lady in front of me in line who parked her car in the middle of the drive way(preventing patrons for nearby businesses to park in the designated stalls) and took forever to tell the seamstress what she wanted. Cost - very reasonable! She must make a killing since not a lot of people have the time or ability to sew.(guilty). I wouldn't mind making an attempt to hem my own pants but..... I came here to get my prom dress altered in April and even though I came in two days before my prom, she did it very quickly and had it completed the next day! I needed the waist taken in but there was beading on the waist. She said that usually she only charges $35 but because she'd have to re-do the beading, it would cost $40. I was ecstatic because I had been to another tailor and they were going to charge me $60 and NOT have it done by the time I needed the dress. She had me go and change into my dress, then pinned it where she needed to sew. I was in and out in 15 minutes or less. She isn't the most sociable woman, but she is polite and nice. I had 2 work uniforms with torn pockets and a broken zipper on a pair of jeans. I chose this place for the reviews, and also it was a convenient location for me to walk to. It was so easy to explain to the lady what I needed, and she asked how quickly I needed it back, I told her I was not in a rush. She then said give her one week. I paid upfront with cash and got the receipt. One week later, I pick up my work clothes and it was so easy and fast! I highly recommend this place for any simple quick alterations. She charged me $4.00 each for the shirts, and $10.00 because the zipper needed to be replaced. I think the zipper price was a little much, but maybe it was also including the labor? I don' t know. I also didn't care because when I got my clothes back, it was like brand new, and nothing was loose, or no stitching came undone. read more

I came here to hem my jeans. I thought the rates were very fair. Only $8.00 to hem them. It was ready in a week - I wasn't in a rush. The lady appears to run her own shop by herself. The parking is street parking but every time I came there was a stall open on Liliha St. It's between the Yanagi Japanese restaurant and the Youngs Noodle Shop. The only thing that scared me was after I paid for my jeans, a lady came in and started to wig out about how she messed up her shirt and cut it too short. That made me nervous, but she hemmed my jeans just fine. I think if you just need simple alterations for a cheap price you won't have a problem here. read more

This little shop is the best....the owner (I think her name is Mei) can do any job I've given her...hemming pants, changing zippers, making my clothes smaller and fitting so much better...she can do it all. I think her prices are very reasonable and she really tries to work with your timeline for the alterations. You need to pay when you drop off your item and also cash only. The only con would be the parking...there's a couple of stalls in the back of her shop but the stalls are tiny....you could do street/meter parking though. read more

I brought a dress in to get altered and she did a wonderful job. I am very pleased with her work, she did exactly what I asked, and I got my dress back in a week (which is fine because I don't need the dress till January) My only complaint was she kept saying "do dis way easier" I may seem pushy but I don't really care if it's easier for you. It's your job to do it how I would like it to be done even if it's not the easy way. If you are unsure just hold steady :) she is great and did a wonderful just. Got a zipper fixed here recently and Mae was awesome! I took my pants in on a Monday, she told me that she would have them ready in a week. I told her that I needed them before I was leaving the island in 5 days and she told me that she would be able to do it. She fixed them in time and did a great job! I ordered my wedding dress 4 months in advance. It came 4 days before my wedding was suppose to take place. The dress was lined, the straps were too long and needed to be taken in. I was in a panic. I've called other alteration shops but was told that they were "too busy" or it would take a week. May told me to come by and she did it for me in a couple of days (despite the fact that she too is very busy). I felt she didn't charge me enough for a rush job and she did an awesome job!!! Ever see something adorable at Nordstrom Rack that is just a little too big, but you buy it anyway because it's such a deal but then can't actually wear it? Um, yeah, I do that a lot. But there's a solution! I brought one of those wishful purchases - a shift dress - here to get taken down a size, and it came out perfect. The seamstress took it apart by the back zipper, trimmed the excess fabric all down the back, and then reattached the zipper to make the alterations invisible. Cost - $16! DO NOT get your jeans altered here. I took a brand new pair of skinny jeans and asked for the original hem to be put back on the jeans. Mae, the tailor, assured me she could do it but that it would cost extra. No problem - I'll pay for a job well done and nicely tailored jeans. However, I went to pick up the jeans it was evident that it was not a job well done. First and foremost, the skinny jeans are now WAY too short. Instead of hitting below the ankle bone, these skinny jeans hover above my ankle by about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. No apology, no recognition of screwing up. Truly, these jeans are unwearable. Second, the original hem job is horrible. I've had the original hem put back on at Nordstroms before and you could hardly tell where the jeans ended and the original hem began. Not here! The seams don't even line-up. Absolute crap. I also had two pairs of business pants hemmed here, both of which had to be taken back in because they were too short. Mae was able to let these down to an acceptable and fashionable length while I waited, but nonetheless, you shouldn't have to take the pants back in. In sum, 3 of the 5 pairs of pants/jeans that I took into Mae either had to be redone or were screwed up beyond repair. So, your odds of getting what you want at Sew Good are less than 50%. Not good. My advice - go to the Sew Good located on South King Street. My husband and I have used them before and nothing had to be redone and they did incredible work. Yes, they were more expensive and took longer, but at least when you pick up your pants or jeans, you don't have to come home and order a new pair on-line. read more

Good service here. I dropped off a jacket to hem the sleeves and slacks for a pocket repair on a Monday, got them back in Saturday as promised. The lady who works here is busy but pleasant, and efficient. The alterations/repairs were done on time and as expected, will definitely come here again. May is a lifesaver! When the first place I went to for alterations for my wedding dress let me down, I was frantic to find another place on short notice. I called in to see if she could see me that day, and even though she was extremely busy she made time for me. Within the next hour of calling I was able to walk in, let her do her thing, and was pretty much done in half an hour. Warning - parking does suck like everyone says, and May in general seems to always be busy so you need to give a little leeway. As in, make sure you put your stuff in as early as possible if you have deadlines. Like a wedding, or a prom, etc. And follow up -before- the pick up day. Like I said she gets a lot of traffic so she has a lot of work to keep her busy. Anyway, thank you so much for helping with my special day, May! I can't wait to wear my dress! read more

So I get a gown for a Military Ball coming up wayyy ahead of time and it's all perfect and good to go. About a week and a half before the ball, I try my dress on one more time to make sure everything is still perfect. When I try it on, I notice a few things. Oh I probably should have hemmed it here, had the shoulders tightened here... so on. At this point I'm a little worried because I have work and won't be able to go anywhere to get it fixed until a week before the event. I of course get on yelp immediately and decide my best bet is Sew Good Alterations. When I arrived, the lady there was pretty busy and seemed a little stressed that day, and I began to worry a week wouldn't be enough. Yet when I spoke to her she said she could finish it by then and was able to reassure me of the alterations she would be able to do. Finally the day comes for me to pick up my dress and it is PERFECT. Really this time. I was so happy and excited and when I went out to show the lady and praise her for her job well done... She got just as excited and giddy as me. She was absolutely wonderful and helped calm my worries for the event. She was also very nice and polite, so I wouldn't hesitate to go to her again. After reading all the good reviews, I decided to take my dress here for to be hemmed. First off, there is no parking. You have to park on liliha street in the few stalls there are on the street. I walked in, it's a small shop and may was very friendly. I dropped my dress off on tuesday asked her if I could pick it up on friday. She said she can finish it by then.. told me to come anytime on friday and I don't need to call. Went to work that day, left on my lunch break to pick up my dress (@ 3 PM). She took a while to find my dress and when she pulled it from the rack...I noticed the needles were still on my dress!!!!! She didn't even work on it!! I was upset because I was on my lunch break, it took me a while to find parking on liliha street, and she told me it would be done by then. She apologized and asked my to come back in a couple hours. Went back after work and it was finished. I didnt try it on to make sure the length was ok. I took it home to wash it. Had the dinner on Saturday, was excited to wear my new dress..and it was TOO LONG! Urgh. read more

Terrible quality and no attention to detail. I took two suits to her and after reading the Yelp reviews I thought I would get good service. When I walked in I was received by a rude lady that I kinda expected and didn't really care if it was good work. When I had her do the measurements she had no idea about what a modern suit fit was. I trusted after explaining it and seeing what she had done that she would get it right. She wanted cash up front and I said no only half. What business does that. I get them back and they are not stitched great nor are the shoulder look right. The back seem was ruffly on top of that. read more
