Edit: ~1 week after I posted this she informed me she still had the original hems but refused to…read moregive them back to me because I was "too harsh for someone that doesn't sew". Very upset with my experience. Ruined 3 pairs of jeans (~$250 worth) by hacking off original hem and botching the new one. She could've easily said she didn't know how to hem jeans or YouTubed/Googled it, it's not difficult to keep the original hem at all. The new hem is crooked/uneven all the way around, the legs themselves are now different lengths, and they flare at the bottom now but were pencil cut initially. I don't know if she stretched them out while sewing or how that even happened, but it's beyond something that'd return to normal after a wash (though they do need a wash after being in the home for over a week, they smell unpleasant). I'm going to have to pay someone else to try to salvage them now on top of what I paid her. Furthermore, she was difficult to get in touch with to get the jeans back. When I finally was able to set up an appointment to get them (multiple calls and texts later) she wasn't even there. Had to pay her husband and describe my things to him . She is super scattered, unorganized, seems flustered or something? I understand being busy, wouldn't have minded these things if the work had been acceptable. Just pay the extra $$ to have a professional tailor do your things correctly. Thought this would be easy and didn't understand why other places charged so much. Learned my lesson.

Mirella is sweet and ultimately we worked out a more reasonable price, but I showed her a quote I had from another alteration place nearby that was $5/pair or $10/pair if they needed to be done by hand. He had me try on the dress, pin it, marked it, and today when I went to go pick it up, he had me try it on and lemme tell you, it fits like a glove. I can't possibly be making this up. It hugged in all the right places, like the dress was made for me (even better than the original sizing if I'm gonna be honest). Florentin is honest, kind, and a man of his words. For all of it, it was over 100. Some say it may not be worth it, and some would say it's worth its value. I have never even found a go-to person/place for alterations back home, but I am so pleased and happy I found one in Portland. All unneeded was the waist taken in, back east that's under 20$, 12$ in the hood. She wanted 20$ plus 15$? I asked her why there was an additional add on and she explained how 'hard' taking in a waist band is. I don't think she realizes I've been getting that alteration done for 10 years and could do it myself if I had a machine. Won't be back to see her but the store overall is super cute and the Irish lady who runs is is very sweet.
