I was hesitant to come here due to the lower rating - but we love to check out breweries and ended up coming here twice! We were here in mid-June and sat at the bar both nights - beer selection was great and the bartender gave solid recommendations. We never ate a full meal here, but we did have the pretzel (good bar food), Salted Watermelon Salad (yum!), & the Chocolate Salty Balls (would never have expected such a great dessert to come from a brewery). It's taken me a while to write this review, but looking at some photos of the meal we had reminded of the wonderful meal we had. The menu was pretty new when we were there, but the staff was very knowledgeable about their offering. We had the "that burger" and "fish & fries." Both were wonderful. The burger was juicy and cooked to order, and that pretzel bun really made the difference for juicy burger that would usually end up with a soggy bun. The fish were different with a pano crust vs the usual beer batter type crust. The flavors were really goo, and it was nice to have the crunch. Not sure when I will be in Seward again, but when that day comes, I will be back for more. Oh, and the beers were great! read more

The beers were great - IPA, brown ale, lager - all terrific. Our meals were ok to very good. We started with the salmon pastrami tostada, which was one of the saltiest things I have every put in my mouth. We didn't finish it. Following that, a few of us had sandwiches. Mine was Mac's Meat Sandwich, which was mostly bun - but the little meat within it was a tasty morsel. The tastiest dish was the halibut curry - excellent. Overall, there are few if any vegetarian options. Our server was ok. She was friendly, but not very helpful in helping us with our orders. She said the wings were very hot, which was not all at the case. She failed to warn us about the salty tostadas, and was inaccurate on the size of portions. Overall, Seward Brewing Co is a good change of pace from the typical seafood restaurants in Seward. Go for the beer, but keep low expectations for the food. read more

We came in just to drink beer, though it is a sit-in type of restaurant/brewery. First I want to say that the waitress was so friendly, she was probably one of the nicest server/worker we've encountered in Alaska, and this is our second day here. I don't want to say all the workers are unfriendly and mean, but... that has been our experience so far. Not sure if being Asian has anything to do with this. Anyways! Back to the beer. They had house taps and guest taps and we ordered just from the house taps. I had the mermaid lager which was their rotater beer, and we also got the rockfish red and the el jefenweizen. The jefe and rockfish tastes similar, though the jefe tasted more stout-y, strangely. All were decent and the prices weren't outrageous. All the beers are $6 a pint! This is a well rounded restaurant. Ordered the beer flight of the 4 in-house brews on tap all which were fresh and good. The food was pretty tastey and of acceptable quality. We ordered the fish and chips, the fish tacos and a burger for our meals and the vinegar chips as an appetizer. The chip were crunchy, but not enough vinegar to tout them as vinegar chips. The tacos were very tasty. The fish and chips were average, especially for Alaska. The burger was unique with a pretzel bun. All in all a good place to eat, but not quite 5 stars. read more

Can't say much about beer (not really a beer drinker), but food was great! Started with a pretzel, I had a great fresh salmon nicoise and husband ordered... THE burger. Salad was excellent, but special kudos go to the burger! With pretzel buns and some awesome smokey sauce that came with it - I think I stole a big portion of that burger! We also ordered a cookie sandwich to top things off and finish the meal on a sweet note - really needed that after going through a beer sampler. I am a bit spoiled with great cookie sandwiches in LA and all over Bay Area (look up Cream if you are ever in Palo Alto), but this one was good and crushed potato chips on the sides added personality. On vacation with my wife and had plans of checking out this brewery for a while now. I was checking out your Instagram before coming in and had already decided I wanted pizza as it looked so good. When we get to the brewery I was asked to sit upstairs for pizza or downstairs for their in house kitchen food. With my wife not wanting pizza, we sat downstairs. The idea that there's 2 restaurants in the same building and you need to sit in separate areas to enjoy their food is wild. Additionally the service seemed off a bit. Maybe the server liked my wife as she seemed to get a novel of an answer and I just received a "yes" or "okay" As far as the food and drinks we got. It was really outstanding! The chef and brewer really have it together and is a true craft experience. A few more comments I have. As a brewery I wish I could see more then 4 beers brewed in house. It's odd that there are more guest taps then beers brewed here. Out of the 4 beers, only 3 were available. Because of this they did not offer flights. In the instance I wish I was able to choose my own flight of 4 including guest taps. Only in Alaska for a short time and trying to get all the Alaskan brews I can! read more

When we entered the young hostess was not friendly to us. I did notice that she greeted other people and smiled at them when they entered. Maybe she doesn't like interracial couples. We went with a large party and they were able to safely seat our group and still serve the other clients. The beer is great and everyone who ordered the pizza, burgers and sandwiches were very happy with the meal. I wouldn't recommend the fish and chips (small pieces of fish and not a lot of them) or the roasted vegetables salad (only had some broccoli and a couple tomatoes on it). Seward is a fishing town built around tourism. So you would expect the prices to be high. For a place that was so full of people on a Wednesday afternoon I figured I would give it a try. Poor choice. Menu is lacking in variety and is expensive even for Alaska standards. Beer was watery and lacking in flavor. Server took our orders and wasn't seen from again for an hour. Was looking for a casual bite , and beer. The flight of beers was only 10 dollars. They were pretty average in taste across the board. My fried chicken sandwich was pretty good , nice hit of spice, with pickles and slaw. My friends burger with beechers cheese was also pretty good, however my other friends salmon sandwich tasted bad, like old fish off, and her chips were burnt and bitter . The food is quite good for a tourist strip, but you'll pay tourist pricing. Came here twice for dinner. Curry halibut is well prepared with great flavor. I ordered the quinoa salmon salad the second night. Delicious but you may ask for the salmon to be cooked medium as it was a bit too well done for my liking. On our first day in Seward, I prevailed on my family to make SBC our first dinner destination, well, because I love beer, and like trying new styles and flavors wherever I go. I am given to understand this place is only open during the short tourist season, and will closing in mid September until it reopens in June, 2018. The beers we tried tasted fine. There was nothing to write home about them, and the sour raspberry "test tap" beer I had tasted more like a raspberry soda than a true sour ale. The Pinbone IPA was acceptable if not exciting. We ordered four meals, and everyone agreed the salad with fresh halibut was outstanding. The burger was good, but just a basic bar food burger. The fries we had were solid. After being disappointed in other Seward dining options, we returned to SBC one more time, knowing we could at least count on good service and good food. Apparently, that's not so common around town. Nice place to grab a beer and dinner in Seward. They had about 5 beers that they brew in-house on tap as well as a few "guest" taps from other Alaskan breweries. Their Pinbone IPA was smooth and hoppy and very agreeable. I had their seafood chowder...it was really quite good. The broth was a bit thinner than I would prefer in a Chowder, but I was pleased with it. Next time I'm in Seward, I'll be coming back. read more
