Come in with minimal expectations. It's Seymour, there are not a lot of restaurants, and I assumed the restaurant got a good rating because there was little to compare it to. I WAS WRONG! Everything we tried was amazing. We started with the fried mushrooms and the chicken tenders (it's an entree). Both had perfect breading, were piping hot, and a huge portion. My entree was the meatloaf and my husband had the lasagna. I'm very picky about my meatloaf and this was pretty good. My husband loved his lasagna. We upgraded a side to a salad and it could have been a meal. Our server, Stephanie, was EXCELLENT and I liked the country feel of the place. Can't wait to come back! Ordered the French dip. The meat was very thick and tough and chewy, sandwich was terrible. The Reuben was a little better, but not much. I guess they don't have shaved meat. My family and I are in from out of town and visited Seymour Grille, and I can't recommend it any more highly! Desire was absolutely delightful (as was the rest of the staff) and the food was incredible. The popcorn to start was more flavorful than at the movie theater. My husband loved every bite of his catfish. And the chicken tenders, french onion soup, and mac and cheese were all scrumptious! We will definitely stop here again, given the opportunity. Because the fish and chips were not as good as they were. Several times different things were not hot and they weren't as good as they were. I think Seymour needs a little overhaul in the kitchen. Hot Beef or Hot Turkey sandwiches are the best. After saying that, let me add that there is nothing on the menu that isn't GREAT, you just single out a couple of things to be your favorites and they will be your own. Let's start with the appetizer, a bowl of popcorn. That gives you time to look at the menu and read all of the entrées, specials, etc. This is truly good, filling, stick-to-your ribs, Southern cooking. I have eaten here a lot and the atmosphere is laid back and relaxed, in a clean setting, with a very friendly staff to get your order quickly and efficiently. BUT, the food is what brings me back time and again. It is served hot and plentiful. The sides go well with the main dish and it is brought out to you quickly. From the taste of the food, it is cooked all day, to simmer and get that slow cooked taste. Someone must be here all night to make that happen. Service was not great and that's the best I can say about the food. I ordered a chicken sandwich, which turned out to be a whole fried breast. Not hammered or thinly sliced breast. A thick, whole breast. It was severely overcooked and the breading fell away from the meat leaving an inedibly tough breast staring you in the face. The patty was a hard pre bought patty that had zero juiciness. It was dry as a bone. The onion was one of those cheap white onions and that's all you could taste when you took a bite. The lettuce had stalks in it and was wilted, laying on top of the meat. The tomato was a small end piece. I packs of ketchup and mayo were added to the box and the fries were just meh. For 39.40 for 3, I would have been much happier with McDonalds. Posting a pic of my half eaten sandwich. I have lived in East TN for over five years and have consistently been disappointed with the restaurants. The same can not be said for Seymour Grill. I have been two times and had outstanding service both times. If I lived closer I would probably become a regular. My meal has been fresh & delicious on both occasions, but I was disappointed with the french fries and homemade chips which is why I have given it 4**** instead of five. This won't deter me from returning & I certainly recommend it. When out of town visitors come this will be on my list of places to show off. read more

Found this place on a whim and decided to stop in for lunch. It is a super cute little place, lots of local sports shirts line the walls in the well appointed space with lots seats and booth options. Our server - Angela was great, very attentive and patient with us while trying to figure out what we wanted to eat. We never had to ask for a refill on our drinks as she was either already bringing one or asking if we'd like another. My husband got the Fried Mushrooms and the open faced Beef Pot Roast sandwich. He said they were both amazing, the potatoes were real, the roast had great flavor. All meals were very plentiful and you will not leave hungry! I had the French Onion Soup and the ultimate grilled cheese. Soup was good (little heavy on the Worcestershire favor but still very good). The grilled cheese was delish! Had a nice little taste of garlic bread almost with the parm cheese on the outside, everything was melted perfectly, very yummy! Oh and because we were new they gave us a house dessert of bread pudding that was massive on the house (sorry forgot to get a picture), we were to full to eat it so they gave it to us to go, can't wait to try it when we can eat again lol. The unique part of Seymour Grille is that they bring popcorn to the table instead of bread. I ordered the country fried steak, which comes with two sides and is smothered in white gravy. The crunchy and meaty country fried steak was delicious. I selected fried okra and mac & cheese for the two sides. Even though the fried okra was cold, it was still excellent. This place was great. Food was excellent and service was beyond excellent. I've mentioned before that a benchmark for me is how places treat my son, who has Down syndrome. Upon entry we greeted warmly by not only the host but one of the customers who was on her way out. Tells me a lot about the establishment as well as the locals of Seymour. Our server was very nice to Oliver, and must have overheard us saying his name because she called him by name every time she spoke with him, and also she spoke directly to him as opposed to referring to one of us (mom and dad) to be his spokesperson. Oliver had his usual, cheeseburger and fries. Fries were cooked right and seasoned well. Beth had Buffalo chicken tenders and sweet potato casserole. Sebastian had a Reuben and fried okra. We had the sweetest waitress take our orders. She didn't miss a beat when we accidentally pulled down the curtains in an attempt to close them (sun on our friend's face). Someone came & put them back up in a flash - smiling the whole time. The bathrooms were as clean as the restaurant. We ordered 2 country fried steaks and chicken and dumplings. The sides were 2 mashed potatoes, pinto beans, corn, green beans, & sweet potato casserole. The food came out within a reasonable amount of time. Everything was fabulous! Portions were generous, and two of us ate every bite. Hubby left one bite behind. So yummy! We only ordered two desserts - to go. The bread pudding and the peanut butter pie look wonderful, and we are sure they will be great later tonight. The check was reasonable for the amount of food we ate. We want to come back again and again. As you leave, throw a few bucks in the jar for their foster dogs. They use the donations for shots and other needs before the dogs can be adopted. read more

I had grilled catfish, with sweet potato casserole, and pinto beans. The pinto beans were so yummy, and the fish was melt in your mouth. They give you some popcorn to munch on when you first arrive. We were STUCK in Knoxville and REALLY mad about it. We asked locals for recommendations and we ended up at this joint. It was SPECTACULAR! We had the best meal of our ENTIRE Tennessee vacation at this little local hot spot. The waitress was the sweetest thing we had ever seen. She called us precious and served is sweet tea as of it was 1956. We were in love. The chicken and dumplings took me DIRECTLY back to my grandmothers kitchen. The nostalgia almost brought a tear to my eye. We ate at Paula's Deens and it SUCKED compared to this place! The sweet potato casserole tasted more homemade than any Thanksgiving table could whip up.
