We've been bringing Archy here on and off for about 4 years. He actuallly got his first hair cut here. The customer service is always OK. The haircuts, nail trims and expressions are always done very professionally and Archy has always come back to us just as we left him meaning he does not seem traumatized or mishandled. The only thing I wish that SF Parlour did better was keep consistnat groomers. The reason we are on and off is that sometimes we have gotten groomers that seem to be learning and don't really listen to the instructions we give them. The past 4 grooms he's received they have done an exceptional job so this is one of our ON phases. This brings me to this last groom which was today. Jessica groomed Archy and she took the time to follow up with a call after I dropped him off to get specific instructions on specific needs. She asked about keeping his Mohawk, about his eyebrows and length of hair. I was extremely surprised with the call in a positive way. When I picked him up I was very pleased and extremely happy with his cut. I will be asking for Jessica going forward and hopefully she is at SF Dog Parlour for a while so Archy can have that consistent groomer. Thank you SF Dog Parlour for always taking great care of our fur baby. Here are some pictures of todays cut.

    Doggy post grooming appointment!

I've taken my dog to SF Dog Parlour a couple of times now, and honestly, it's been a 10/10 experience every time. So glad I stumbled across them -- they're officially our go-to groomers now! My French bulldog is not easy when it comes to grooming (she's kind of a menace), so I'm usually a little anxious dropping her off anywhere. But the team at SF Dog Parlour is so attentive and thorough that I felt completely at ease. You can tell they really care about the animals they work with. A few things that really stood out: My dog has never smelled this good after a groom -- and the scent actually lasts, which hasn't been the case at other places. They're incredibly detail-oriented. Her nails were clipped perfectly, ears were super clean, and they did an amazing job with deshedding. They even cleaned out her little bully wrinkles, which is a huge plus! We also brought in my sister's big Cane Corso, and they handled him like pros. No dog is too big or too difficult for them -- both pups came out looking and feeling great. I really appreciate how much time and care they put into their work. Highly recommend!

I've been a loyal customer at SF Dog Parlor for many years with all my fur babies, and by far they've never MISSSED! Ofe is an expertise at grooming my poms coat. The Fox cut is the cutest! Their customer service, hospitality and dedication to providing clients with the utmost satisfaction is over and above. Don't pass this gem of a business up! You and your pups won't regret it!

Woman owned, very attentive and understanding to animals. This is a wonderful place to get your dog groomed. The owner and staff are very good with dogs. My dog has never liked being groomed, but this is one place that seems to help him manage his anxiety.

"Ideal" treatment estimate given to me by the vet

I trusted Lisa and her business since it was my second time doing business with her. Last year, I had my cat groomed and everything was fine. My cat showed anxiousness but calmed down after getting him back home. Nothing out of the ordinary, right? I regretted holding on to this trust when I booked my second appointment with her last Sunday (09/12/23). When I scheduled with her, we originally booked 1pm for that day. I called back minutes after to specifically ask if she can take my cat last instead since my cat has extreme sensitivity to loud noises and unfamiliar environments. She said she'll get back to me on the day but we'll still hold on to our 1pm just in case no one comes in. Appointment day comes and I haven't received any calls from her so I reached out myself to confirm if she's still working on other pets just so I know if I can proceed to bring my cat. She said by the time I get there, I should be fine. Lo and behold, I got there with my cat in hand and this huge german shepherd was barking loudly while Lisa was working on another pup. She told me I could leave my cat and that she'll bring him to the bathroom because its "quiet" there until she finishes with what she's working with. If only I knew my cat would be stranded there scared and alone for hours. I regret trusting her and I should've walked out the moment I saw and heard the commotion in her shop. I feel so bad for my cat having to deal with all this chaos without me. When I picked my cat up, I thought everything was normal though I did mention that my cat looked really tired than usual. She then said "Yeah, I had to double check if he's still breathing." Took it as a joke but looking back at it now, she must've done more than just groom my cat. Unfortunately this whole incident triggered my cat's dormant heart condition due to the stress of waiting for hours and just the unfamiliarity of the place. I had to rush my cat to an emergency vet to assess him. He's now diagnosed with CHF. What costed $150 dollars became $2000. I know we all have our own experiences, but take it from me. This place is only meant for dogs. Bringing you cats here could potentially be a death sentence. Lisa, I respect you and your business but the people should know. DO NOT BRING YOUR CATS HERE

I wanted to return to again praise our fave groomer Ashley! I recommended her to a friend who'd dog has been needing a cut but also experiencing paw pain, we were thinking his nail was removed/fell out, as there was a hole. Ashley found a foxtail in his paw and removed it! The thorough and careful care she provides our fur babies are unmatched and I truly recommend her services!

Reppin women owned businesses! The team here is awesome! They are quick, professional and all kinds of dog whispering-ish(is that such a thing? If it isn't, it is now!). We've brought Coco here before and we've never had a bad experience. They will squeeze us in with short notice which isn't just rare, it's typically just not done! With our hectic schedule, that is certainly a blessing. If u love your fur baby, this is a solid go to spot.

Freshly groomed with a cute puppy bandana after his appointment at SF Dog Parlour!

Excellent service! Got a last minute appointment for today (Saturday morning). Two lovely groomers met me at the counter and seemed really caring. I was nervous as my Frenchie puppy is 4 months old and this was his first grooming. His nails were long and ears a little dirty and he needed a good bath. He came out looking and smelling great. It took 1 hour and they texted me when he was ready. Brought him home, he ate lunch and is taking a nap, feeling so fresh and so clean. Reasonable price too. I'll def be back.

I really love the hair cut that my Welsh Terrier gets there. Very clean, correct style for his breed and no attitude from the groomers. There is usually street parking nearby. The staff is friendly and they call you when your pup is ready. Easy to work with them. I'm happy

Final results - Peixe's first short cut during adolescent coat transition
    Taryn T.

Took our 1-yr standard poodle here for a full service groom with Erin! Since our girl is transitioning from her adolescent coat she had starting matting much easier so we decided to go short for the first time. Erin took her time to help us figure out exactly the length we wanted to go, and had some ideas for things we could try because we're still experimenting. In the end, she did such a great job! And took her time in any sensitive areas. I also really appreciated Erin's general knowledge as she called out something about our pup's recent heat that we hadn't caught onto yet. It's great to find a good groomer, but ever better to find a groomer who really cares about your dog beyond that too. P.S. Grooming is not an easy job, tip your groomers well!

    Champ before the groom
    Pat W.

This place was literally minutes away so I took Champ for his first groom. Usually takes about an hour to groom but it was Champ's first time and I was told he was a bit fussy so they took their time with him (Two days prior he was also traumatized by a big dog that bit him on top of his head). As a first time customer who really doesnt know much about the dog world, I was very pleased with their work and the way Champ looked when I picked him up. Lisa was nice and very sweet to Champ. I highly recommend this place.

This is what they look like normally.

This place is the absolute worst. I thought this place would be great after reading all the reviews but after having my experience, no one in that place has any real experience with grooming pets. I brought my Yorkie, and also my Yorkie Poo in for a full groom. I told the person, I believe they were the owner, that I wanted just a short trim to keep things clean and neat. Trim around the eyes, trim their nails, clean out the ears and of course the fur around their butts, but no short, buzzed puppy cut. She kept saying, "Yes, I understand. Yes, I understand." I also showed her a picture of my dogs prior to them getting trimmed,of how I would like them to look. I said please do not use clippers on them because it scares my dogs. She said she understood. I come back after 90 minutes, and as soon as I saw my dogs, I wanted to cry. The guy who did the grooming brought them out, completely covered in this cheap perfume, hoping that I wouldn't notice how shitty of a job the groom was. I immediately said that cut was way too short. It was way too short. I kept telling him their haircut is way too short. And he said "well we did use the clippers around their faces and they got really scared so it kind of cut the fur too short" and then he kind of chortled. Wtf! I said, "I told you guys that I didn't want the clippers used." They didn't do anything that I had asked them to do. Not a single thing. They completely buzzed both of my dogs so short. My poor dogs looked absolutely horrible. I honestly wish I had never brought my dogs here. I should've written this review sooner, but I was so upset. I know they're a small business, but they are absolutely horrendous but my god, this is not where their talents lie. They are horrible. Just absolutely horrible. They pretend like they care, they pretend like they're listening, they pretend like they're acknowledging everything you're saying, they pretend as though anything you say, is actually going to matter when it absolutely does not. I mean, why did they even bother asking me what kind of a groom I wanted for my two dogs when they were going to do whatever they wanted anyway. When I was finally calm, I was able to make the phone call to try and talk to the owner. The woman that answered the phone listened to me and said she understood, and she said she was very sorry, and that she would let the owner know. I said I need the owner to call me. The owner never called me. The owner never tried to contact me. The owner never did anything to make this right. Thinking about it today still makes me upset. If you love your dogs, please do not bring them to these groomers. They are absolutely. They over spray them with perfume to cover up the fact that they did a shitty job on the grooming. Please don't make the mistake I did.

Dennise also is the only groomer we have trusted with our bernedoodle puppy which has clearly paid off: our puppy seems to truly enjoy hanging out with all the groomers and other pups when she is in the shop. But sometimes we love animals in a way that supports their exploitation and harms them. The issue is that this store is misguidedly treating these sentient beings like merchandise by buying them from breeders (possibly even breeding mills, they would not tell me where they get birds from) then selling them to make money. Birds, and no animal, should be bought/sold for profit and in doing so we are commodifying them and contributing to the existing crisis of birds who are already in need of homes. If people stop buying/selling birds, people would instead adopt them from rescues and shelters and alleviate the stress and burden on rescuers while getting animals who actually need homes in to homes, instead of breeding more and more in to existence. Additionally, many birds suffer immensely in captivity and rip our their own feathers out of distress (a behavior that does not happen in the wild) these animals are not domesticated, are highly social and should be living in huge flocks and flying free in their natural habitats. I really hope someday this store will do the right thing and prioritize what is in the best interest of the animals by ceasing to buy birds from exploitative breeders and selling them like merchandise for profit, and instead host adoption events with local bird rescues as there are thousands of birds who desperately need forever homes. I love pet stores and I shop at them all the time as I have 20+ rescued animals I need supplies for. The vast majority of pet stores in SF thrive without selling animals, and I know the Animal Company can too! :) The folks at the Animal Company are nice people and my concerns are not a personal attack on them.

Plus, I love animals and stopping in a mom and pop pet shop "just to see what there is" happens frequently xD Unfortunately, the Animal Company hasn't carried what I needed in the past, as the cat and dog food selection is fairly limited (yet varied) given the hundreds of varieties of foods nowadays. I digress... just last weekend my kitty's special kidney food was delayed in transit and the lil chonker ate through her last order in record time. Kitty has gotten accustomed to a mix of kidney+core wellness and she let us know allllllll night Friday into Saturday that her food was not right. After two nights in a row of poor sleep, I was determined to find (Weruva) Wx Low Phos tilapia+tuna somewhere in the City. PFE website says they have it, but no stores have in stock (thank goddess I called before trekking). Called a few of the smaller shops around town with no luck. As options were dwindling, I gave The Animal Company a call and imagine my surprise when a cheery voice on the other end of the phone confirmed they did indeed have what I was looking for! It was 4th of July and the person on the phone informed me they were closing early, around 3pm, and put 4 cans of food aside for me. I immediately hopped off the couch and we got on our way to the J. Within an hour I had kidney friendly food plus some kidney friendly treats (!! Wx Low Phos new product) in hand, a full belly (stopped at Subs Inc. across the street), and we were on our way back home. Note: yes, about half+ the store is dedicated to birbs. I'm glad I took some time to read reviews+Rick's responses here on Yelp, 'cause admittedly it made me a lil sad to see some of the birbs in the store, I realize now I subconsciously avoided it. Turns out, many of the birbs in store are being boarded (and very! well cared for). Totally understandable some may look sad given they're in a new environment and very likely missing their humans. I know my kitty would be absolutely out of sorts if taken out of home while I was away (and sure, birbs are different than cats, but these birbs are VERY smart). I've been following a woman on YT, I think a random covid SiP stumble, who has educated me on these magnificent, fascinating creatures (birbs). I trusted her with Mochi's groom for our wedding, engagement photos, etc etc. - and those pictures are documented F.U.R.e.v.e.r..so you know I'm serious!! lol Anyway, the new space is great - lots of friendly pups on the way in and of course, when picked Mochi up, he looked 10 years younger! Ari even managed to find ANOTHER tiny foxtail right near his eye, so I am SOOO happy to have brought him in! Thank you, Ari!!
