The groomers at Dog Spa were able to clip my Chihuahuas nails for the first time in his seven years of living! At home, I can try to trim one nail at a time every once in a while, but he goes bananas when his feet are touched. I absolutely am shocked how seamless the experience just went with him there. I left the room because we all felt he may behave better with me not there. But I was able to watch through the window and he didn't get hysterical at all. He tends to move a lot. Even so, they managed to give him the cutest poodle cut ever. I think the stylist here is good with grooming poodles, bichons, etc. Everything was reasonably and fairly priced. We are absolutely thrilled to have found the Dog Spa. We have tried a myriad of dog groomers in San Francisco, to groom our 30 lb Australian Labradoodle. This place is a scam!!!! I brought in my dog for a grooming. Over the phone the lady quoted me $85. When I picked him i was being charged $120!!!! 120!!!! He was matted and needed extra TLC. They found a tick (yikes) and decided to give him a special bath which he ended up being allergic to!!! Broke out in a rash and itched for dayssss!!! Sure thanks for the extra mile BUT my problem is that they never called me and asked if they are allowed to give him the extra services. Making the price almost $40 more than quoted earlier. With that said the trim was uneven and he was cut in multiple places. He has a chronic ear infection (which at other places they attempt to clean up a bit) was ignored completely. I brought my maltipoo here for a general grooming and once I picked her up I noticed my dog was feeling some discomfort in her vulva area. I took a closer look and her vulva was red as hell and looked like an extremely bad razor burn. As the days progressed her vulva became completely scabbed up and began to crack and bleed. I reached out to the groomers who were responsible for this mistake and they were extremely rude and unconcerned. They refused to give me a refund and stopped returning my texts and calls. It should have been a red flag when I heard that they had only groomed 2 Giant Schnauzers previously. That would explain why my dog was BUTCHERED -- she looks like someone took sissors and chopped away, very uneven with gouges and uncut parts. I realize that they should have provided a FREE haircut to give the groomers experience with this breed; instead, I paid $200. Moral of the story: ask what experience they have with your breed. We had a great experience with the Dog Spa grooming our 60 lb Labradoodle, and we will be taking him there again. They were prompt and professional, listened to our requests to cut his hair short (not a long "Doodle cut"), and he looked fantastic. He was also calm and happy when we picked him up, which says a lot. My only regret is that this service comes at quite a price. It cost $110 for his full grooming. That is quite a lot! We are going to go back, though, because it has been so hard to find a reliable groomer that takes good care of our dog during his stay, and they do just that. Furthermore, they quoted us $80 even after we told them our fur baby was 4 1/2 months old and that it would her first cut. When I arrived they told me it would cost between $90-$95. I apprehensively left but was called less than 20 minutes asking me to pick up our pup since "she wasn't ready for a haircut and she bit the groomer." Our dog is super friendly and fun and mellow but after the last two grooming appointments he came back traumatized and his hind leg was in severe pain. I come to pick up my dog, & I see that the leash was bitten & they tied it in a knot. I asked what happened. & they told me that my dog bit it. Okay. It would have been nice if they apologized for not watching him before he bit the leash clean off or at least offer to give me a discount. Secondly, I was looking at my dog's leg & there's a chunk of hair missing, to the point where you can see skin that was not there before. Not once did they mention that either. Ever since I've found this place, other groomers don't stand a chance. I always have a thing or two to say about other groomers while this place leaves me speechless. I'm currently attend school down in Santa Barbara so this is a bit of a travel to return home and get my fur baby groomed. But this place is DEFINITELY worth the travel for. Before the grooming appointment my Siberian Husky was shedding like crazy, with clumps of fur coming out as her winter coat is falling out. AFTER the appointment, my fur baby came back looking AMAZING. You could tell the workers here are thorough and detailed in their work. I tried to groom my husky after and there was barely any hair to grab with a furminator (that says a lot!) The process still took around the same time, 3.5 hours. My puppers smells amazing and you already know I'll definitely be back. The only thing that's a downfall, but very understanding is the cost of grooming. This time grooming cost around $75 instead of $60, but it's worth it because of the detailed work. Please keep in mind to make appointments as they are very busy! Never have I ever stepped into the shop not seeing a dog. They're always working hard so keep that in mind. I highly recommend this place to others looking for quality grooming, especially husky parents who have their fur babies shedding like crazy right now. read more
