I come to the area occasionally for work and family and Shabu Shack is definitely a spot I'll be coming to commonly! The spicy miso and tonkatsu are my soups of choice and the beef belly (and other meats) are absolutely amazing. It's a cozy spot that's super welcoming and the food just hits great. The service is top notch too with this one girl waitress (i forget your name, sorry! Something with a J ) taking the time to explain the menu and etc for us and super courteous too. Will definitely be back every time in town. And 100% worth the visit when in the area!

Shaun Shack in Davis a great choice for a warm and comforting hotpot style meal. I found their meat and veggies to be high quality and clean. In fact, the whole restaurant has a modern and clean feeling to it. You have the option of either creating your own hotpot or getting it in an all you can eat style. The best bang for your buck is definitely the AYCE, but if you're not that hungry, I like the fact that you can just create your own meal for a cheaper price. If you want other food items, Shabu Shack also offers up sizzling rice plates and appetizers. My wife got a sizzling rice plate and it was very tasty, but the sauce was a bit much towards the end. I also tried the chicken karaage and it came slightly over done. These were small missteps in an overall very good dining experience. My actual favorite thing I had at Shabu Shack was actually the lychee lemonade. It was a little pricey for what you get, but it was amazing.

I recently tried Shani Shack and I'm not even exaggerating when I say the food is so good. The wagyu steak is the star of the show. It's tender, flavorful, and honestly addictive. I genuinely can't stop myself from going back for it. I used to go for the all you can eat option, but if I'm being real, it's a little too expensive for what you get and not really worth it. I would definitely recommend just getting a medium or large wagyu instead. You still get that same amazing quality, but it feels like a much better value. One thing I really love is that they now let you make your own sauces on the side. That is such a great addition because you can customize each bite exactly how you like it, and it makes the whole experience even better. And I have to mention the wagyu fries. They are so good. It is hard to even explain, but they just hit the spot every single time. Crispy, flavorful, and the perfect side to go with the steak. Overall, this place is definitely worth trying if you are a wagyu fan. Great food, solid options, and something about it just keeps you coming back.

THE BEST PLACE FOR HOTPOT EVAA. Went with my friends and proud to say we ate it UPPPP!! Natalie, Kaylani, and Sofia treated us with such love and care, service always so good here!!! Felt like absolute queens when we ate here. The mango soju tower is immaculate, we downed it all. The place itself was very cozy and the vibes were THERE. This the one place I am going to miss in Davis after I graduate :((

After a long hike we were craving shabu. We arrived at a great time and seated right away. The staff service was super nice and friendly. He helped us get our food pretty quickly and always filled our table when it looked empty. The meats were good quality and it was delicious. I really liked the spicy broth. The restaurant was clean and the tables were roomy for all food.

Stopped by to visit during a rainy day and thought shabu would be a great dinner! Came around 7pm and there was no wait at all, we got seated right away and the server was really prompt and friendly! They were doing a special for a free appetizer with the purchase of the entree so we wanted to try one of the new chicken wings in addition to our usual serving of Wagyu and pork. Our food came out really quick and the servers always stopped by to check in on us. The quality of meat here is really good and i think this location is almost better than the Elk Grove one. Would definitely come back here if im ever in the area and craving hotpot.

Great Service. Great Ambiance. Great Food. The All you can't eat Option for ($39.99) comes with 4 proteins and 2 sides per person. Recommendations: ( from our experience) Broth: Tom Yum, Tonkotsu & Spicy Sichuan Meats: American Wagyu, Lamb, Beef Belly Toro & Angus Beef Sides: mushrooms, Udon, assorted vegetables, beef tendon Balls, shrimp, Napa Cabbage, Ramen ( A MUST) & Potstickers ( A MUST)!!! In addition, you get complimentary ice cream. Flavors options offered: Green Tea, Vanilla, Strawberry & Cookies & Cream.

We stopped by on our way back from Tahoe and were so surprised by the AYCE menu here! Usually the meat quality for AYCE is low when it comes to hot pot but this is probably the best one we've tried recently + the portion size was big to make it worth it. All the sides were fresh too and the service was fast. Cameron was a great server. I'd definitely come back here again. If they elevated their peanut sauce this place would be a 10/10 in Davis!!

Service: Service was good. Our server checked in on us regularly, made sure our waters were always refilled, and gave us enough space to enjoy our time without feeling rushed. Ambiance: The atmosphere was clean, modern, and cozy. It had a relaxed but slightly upscale feel. I was shocked when I walked in. We had mainly been focused on the food when choosing where to go and didn't pay much attention to the ambiance beforehand. But it's okay. It was a nice place. I sat at the sushi bar. It took quite a long time for someone to come over and take my order. And it also took a little while for my sushi and sashimis to come out. One thing that grosses me out a little bit is that my soy sauce dish is oily. But I can't wave anyone down so I used it anyways.. The sashimis are fresh. And they give really big pieces too so it is great value. The Madai sashimi still have scales on them tho that was a little surprising in texture. The nigiris are in massive pieces. Which again I appreciate the value. However, the uni was visibly dark in color in some piece. I thought it might be a regional character (cuz uni from different place can have different colors). But upon first bite it tasted a little stinky which is not how it's supposed to taste. To be honest, I would rather have less uni and smaller nigiri if I can just have fresh fish. When eating raw fish freshness is a huge priority. This dinning experience too way longer than expected. And I'm very disappointed in the freshness of an expensive ingredient. I do hope they improve and succeed as it's been in Davis for so long.
