I come to the area occasionally for work and family and Shabu Shack is definitely a spot I'll be coming to commonly! The spicy miso and tonkatsu are my soups of choice and the beef belly (and other meats) are absolutely amazing. It's a cozy spot that's super welcoming and the food just hits great. The service is top notch too with this one girl waitress (i forget your name, sorry! Something with a J ) taking the time to explain the menu and etc for us and super courteous too. Will definitely be back every time in town. And 100% worth the visit when in the area!

Shaun Shack in Davis a great choice for a warm and comforting hotpot style meal. I found their meat and veggies to be high quality and clean. In fact, the whole restaurant has a modern and clean feeling to it. You have the option of either creating your own hotpot or getting it in an all you can eat style. The best bang for your buck is definitely the AYCE, but if you're not that hungry, I like the fact that you can just create your own meal for a cheaper price. If you want other food items, Shabu Shack also offers up sizzling rice plates and appetizers. My wife got a sizzling rice plate and it was very tasty, but the sauce was a bit much towards the end. I also tried the chicken karaage and it came slightly over done. These were small missteps in an overall very good dining experience. My actual favorite thing I had at Shabu Shack was actually the lychee lemonade. It was a little pricey for what you get, but it was amazing.

I recently tried Shani Shack and I'm not even exaggerating when I say the food is so good. The wagyu steak is the star of the show. It's tender, flavorful, and honestly addictive. I genuinely can't stop myself from going back for it. I used to go for the all you can eat option, but if I'm being real, it's a little too expensive for what you get and not really worth it. I would definitely recommend just getting a medium or large wagyu instead. You still get that same amazing quality, but it feels like a much better value. One thing I really love is that they now let you make your own sauces on the side. That is such a great addition because you can customize each bite exactly how you like it, and it makes the whole experience even better. And I have to mention the wagyu fries. They are so good. It is hard to even explain, but they just hit the spot every single time. Crispy, flavorful, and the perfect side to go with the steak. Overall, this place is definitely worth trying if you are a wagyu fan. Great food, solid options, and something about it just keeps you coming back.

i have seen shabu shack in this plaza but never went to it into recently as i'm not someone who likes hotpot but i never looked at the menu fully and didn't realize they had sizzling plates! since then i have gone about 3 times because i really love there beef sizzling plates with rice! i would say my only complaint is i wish they put a little more meat to even out the rice ratio but i think for the price and the flavor it is great ! the restaurant itself is pretty big and it's never too crowded when i've gone a few times. the service is good and id overall recommend if you like sizzling plates !

After a long hike we were craving shabu. We arrived at a great time and seated right away. The staff service was super nice and friendly. He helped us get our food pretty quickly and always filled our table when it looked empty. The meats were good quality and it was delicious. I really liked the spicy broth. The restaurant was clean and the tables were roomy for all food.

THE BEST PLACE FOR HOTPOT EVAA. Went with my friends and proud to say we ate it UPPPP!! Natalie, Kaylani, and Sofia treated us with such love and care, service always so good here!!! Felt like absolute queens when we ate here. The mango soju tower is immaculate, we downed it all. The place itself was very cozy and the vibes were THERE. This the one place I am going to miss in Davis after I graduate :((

Stopped by to visit during a rainy day and thought shabu would be a great dinner! Came around 7pm and there was no wait at all, we got seated right away and the server was really prompt and friendly! They were doing a special for a free appetizer with the purchase of the entree so we wanted to try one of the new chicken wings in addition to our usual serving of Wagyu and pork. Our food came out really quick and the servers always stopped by to check in on us. The quality of meat here is really good and i think this location is almost better than the Elk Grove one. Would definitely come back here if im ever in the area and craving hotpot.

Great Service. Great Ambiance. Great Food. The All you can't eat Option for ($39.99) comes with 4 proteins and 2 sides per person. Recommendations: ( from our experience) Broth: Tom Yum, Tonkotsu & Spicy Sichuan Meats: American Wagyu, Lamb, Beef Belly Toro & Angus Beef Sides: mushrooms, Udon, assorted vegetables, beef tendon Balls, shrimp, Napa Cabbage, Ramen ( A MUST) & Potstickers ( A MUST)!!! In addition, you get complimentary ice cream. Flavors options offered: Green Tea, Vanilla, Strawberry & Cookies & Cream.

Hot pot with good broth and flavors. I ordered the American Wagyu with the non-spicy Tonkatsu broth. Everything was very flavorful. You get a pretty good portion of meat and veggies for the price. I was very satisfied with the food as far as tastes and pricing.

There were only one other couple in this section. When I go to a new sushi place I always get the Chirashi Sushi so I can see how the fresh sushi is and I like that selection. It was a lot, almost 44 bucks which is expensive for that dish. Plus I wasn't really that hungry. I didn't know when I would be back in the area so I just went for it. The wife decided on a Bento box with two items. the Tonkatsu and the Agedashi tofu. This place has one of those delivery robots from Japan and it was neat to see it bring the food to people. Here you don't grab it yourself like other places. The server grabs it and puts it on your table in front of you. It has a melody playing the entire time to let you know it's coming out. When my Chirashi came out , it looked amazing. It sure was extra and thus the price. It was 16 pieces of sushi and 2 pieces Tamago or egg. The Amaebi or raw shrimp came with a fried shrimp head on top and then the shrimp on the bottom. Really excellent presentation. They really thought about it. They even had the real Wasabi, which is the only one I eat. The little touches were appreciated. It was a lot of sushi Now my wife's Bento box was thoughtful too. It was a lot of food. It came with a fried pepper stuffed with crab. Something that I have never seem. It was spicy and the wife couldn't eat it. I was too stuffed with my food to taste it. In the corner of the box had pickled Vegis which don't often come in the box. Plus they had like a yam or sweet potato dip with I think Taro chips. Unique but the chips were stale. Still very thoughtful plating of a Bento box. If I am in town again I will definitely hit this place up again. I liked it a lot. The service was great too.

I sat at the sushi bar. It took quite a long time for someone to come over and take my order. And it also took a little while for my sushi and sashimis to come out. One thing that grosses me out a little bit is that my soy sauce dish is oily. But I can't wave anyone down so I used it anyways.. The sashimis are fresh. And they give really big pieces too so it is great value. The Madai sashimi still have scales on them tho that was a little surprising in texture. The nigiris are in massive pieces. Which again I appreciate the value. However, the uni was visibly dark in color in some piece. I thought it might be a regional character (cuz uni from different place can have different colors). But upon first bite it tasted a little stinky which is not how it's supposed to taste. To be honest, I would rather have less uni and smaller nigiri if I can just have fresh fish. When eating raw fish freshness is a huge priority. This dinning experience too way longer than expected. And I'm very disappointed in the freshness of an expensive ingredient. I do hope they improve and succeed as it's been in Davis for so long.

I got the salmon lover but it was more like the salmon lover who gives you nothing and always leaves you wanting more - disappointing amount of masago - masago is tiny and dry - cuts were inconsistent and unprofessional - the amount of salmon on top was so thin and didn't even wrap around half of the roll... - the salmon inside vs outside are different colors - we got 3 orders of this and all of them looked a little janky and different, especially in the difference in masago (yes I'm very salty) - it was like $17 pre tax and tip - took a while to get, but it doesn't feel bad if you get an appetizer

My Burma downtown is doing the most in the best way--great location, solid vibes, and service that actually feels like they want you there (rare, honestly). Everything is super veg-friendly with plenty of swaps and mods, which I always appreciate because some places act like removing meat is a personal insult. Fun fact: Burmese cuisine is one of the only Southeast Asian cuisines where fermented tea leaves (yes, edible tea salad energy) are a legit staple. Would absolutely come back, preferably hungry again so I can over-order like I have no self control.

Service was nice, the staff are always very attentive and quick. This is a place that is casual, and I've come here with a huge group before. Anyways, here's my must have list: - King Kong roll - salmon nigiri (lunch) - miso soup - cream cheese wonton

Every single specialty roll is the same thing but only a small difference. They are all packed with very cheap imitation crab. The pieces are so large and too much rice and so so salty. I felt overwhelmed after my first roll and desperately tried edamame and a handroll to at least feel like I am getting my money's worth. Even the handroll had too much rice. But the nail in the coffin for me was the included gratuity on the check for 15%. I was actually going to already give a 20% which I normally do for dinner services, but since I saw tip forcefully included, I was so turned off I just thought that's it, that's what they expect so that's what they get. I am not gonna come back, but I don't think it's THE WORST I guess? Think of it kinda like the taco bell of sushi restaurants. Everything on the menu is a variation on the same base ingredients just assembled slightly differently. And like, why go to taco bell at this point when taquerias have a better deal for the price? But sometimes you still find yourself at taco bell for some reason lol so that's how I feel about this place...
