The quality of the food is kind of hit or miss. The first time I came, it was fine so I came back. When I came back fish was noticeably worse and some appetizers tasted a it old. Miso soup was still surprisingly good though. Not too sweet or salty. Don't think I will come back.

For context I did not know this was an all you can eat sushi joint lol needless to say the Miso Soup and Wontons were really good. The sushi rolls were also solid. I had the firecracker roll and the Raggae man roll. Overall the food is worth it if you understand it's all you can eat buffet lol don't be like me

From start to finish, an experience worth coming back for; this will not be our last time here. We are making this our go to Japanese spot in Davis moving forward. My fam LOVES sushi and they never have it with me because of the limited vegan/vegetarian options. Despite the mixed reviews, decided to give it a whirl because I did see things I can have and wanted to make it a special date for my fam. On several reviews the top complaints referenced terrible service and dry, tasteless food. Both I can dispute based on my experience. Wendy and her team were so attentive, placed our order at 7:11 pm and was dining at 7:20! Nothing at all to complain about. We had the teriyaki chicken meal and an avocado salad, the house tea (green tea/rice blend) and a taste of their delicious coffee cake for dessert. Plenty of parking in the plaza lot. They have an outstanding all you can eat menu that we will try in the near future.

We absolutely love this restaurant. With our only complaint is service does take awhile however the staff is amazing at the same time. The sushi, is one of the best I've had in the Sacramento area. At times it reminds me of japans sushi when the rice melts in your mouth. To me that speaks volumes. I love this place will and have recommend to everyone to check it out. We definitely go once a month, it's a 45 min drive for us. But it's completely worth it.

This is one of my go-to restaurants when I'm willing to spend a bit for a meal! All you can eat sushi that offers sashimi as part of their dinner menu?! How can you pass on that? Today I went for lunch tho so we couldn't get sashimi BUT their rolls & nigiri options are always rly good. We ordered the rainbow roll (6.8/10), king kong (10/10), and lemon salmon (9/10). We went ham on the nigiri salmon because it was rly good today. tuna nigiri tho... not so much. it was rly fishy and the texture today was a no-thank-you. Their miso soup was also rly solid & we tried their cream cheese wontons which was also rly good. Service here is pretty friendly. Our waitress today was rly kind and gave us dessert on the house (deep fried banana SO GOOD) for V-day. The restaurant itself is on the dimmer side so we wanted to sit by the window. It can get packed, but I like that it's a quieter restaurant that doesn't get too loud. Overall, always a really good experience and yummy food here. We spent about $60 for lunch ayce for 2 people.

I've came here a few times when I visit Davis. And I'd say if you're a fan of AYCE especially sashimi, this is your spot. I've definitely had fresher however for the price and if you're super hungry you can get your $ worth! Each sashimi is considered one order, so if you'd want 10 pieces you'd say 10 orders for etc. Worth a try if you're around the area. Every time I go it's not busy especially on a weekend for dinner. Ambiance does get pretty noisy though but overall would come here whenever I'm in town.

I barely leave any reviews because I am just nonchalant about a lot of things, but the service here is the worst! I came with my family and while we were ordering, the server kept telling us that if we cant finish, we will have to pay for surcharge fee. Mind you, not once, 4 times. My mom asked for extra ginger she told us we still had some. Food was mediocre, all rolls come with 8 pieces, which I think is weird specifically for AYCE, we could only try 3 kinds of rolls out of the whole menu. Anyway, ordered a spider roll, but only the ends had soft shell crabs in it, the rest was just rice, crab salad, and avocado. Lastly, while paying, the waitress made some comments that I thought were a little odd. She said "oh wow, I didn't expect you guys to finish", and "first time here?", which I thought was a little weird to say before we leave.

AYCE LUNCH MENU JAN 2023

for being only one of the only all you can eat in Yolo county is $35.95 for all you can eat dinner menu and it is an hour and a half dine in limit. Our go to dishes here are the sashimis, stuffed mushrooms, cream cheese wonton appetizers, and veggie tempura. For the rolls, we always love the Domo Arigato, 49ers roll, the Lincoln Hill roll, lion king roll Reggie man roll, you could never go wrong with any of these rules. They're all delicious. for sashimi, we always go for salmon, tuna, yellowfin, and albacore. staff always come around and check up on you often to ensure that you have everything you need food comes out pretty fast, but they can get busy at night for dinners because they do a lot of DoorDash. definitely a great place to take friends and family or a big group of dinner so you all can try a little bit of everything.

Nick G.

I don't know where to begin with this restaurant, but I will definitely say the sushi quality is very poor. I am a huge sushi fanatic and have eaten at many sushi restaurants in the Bay Area! The quality of the salmon and eel were very, very gross. The crab was the worst imitation crab I have had. It's worse than Safeway!!! The best part is they forcefully add a 15% gratuity tip on allllll orders! This is quite ridiculous especially because the service was very mediocre, the only person who was on top of the service was the younger girl. Aside from that this place was very mediocre. I wouldn't recommend coming here.

One wall had a mural of fishes on it and mirrors on the other wall. Our server was a young man and was very nice. He was taking care of all the tables and was very busy. It was a full house! We ordered fried calamari, mixed vegetable tempura, cream cheese wontons, fried shrimp for our appetizers. All tasted very good. I love the light batter on the tempura and it wasn't so oily like it is at some other restaurant. My husband loved the fried shrimp and calamari. We ordered the Green Dragon, California, Hawaiian, Hurricane, Flame, Spider, and Tiger rolls. Everything tasted so good. I was surprised how big the rolls were. The rolls were full of so much flavor and the ingredients of the rolls were so fresh. We will definitely be back! Don't skip on this little place.

They offer a discount if you pay in cash too. Good spot for a night out with friends on a budget. Food 4/5 : The Katsu Curry was very delicious and a ridiculously large portion for just $14! Didn't get to try much sushi or raw fish. Service: Don't feel like I can give a fair rating because most small-scale Asian restaurants like these have a different service culture than the typical "American" restaurant. No complaints. They were respectful. Ambiance 2/5: It's a pretty run-down restaurant. It's a very cramped and narrow building with tattered seats. Chairs were stacked up in the middle of the eating area. Unfortunately it's hard to appear 100% clean with an old space like this. I would probably go back for the AYCE and try all their appetizers and sushi.

It's honestly the first place that comes to mind when I think about sushi, no question. And just to put it in perspective, I literally drive here all the way from Sacramento. What can I say about the sushi? It's absolutely incredible. Today I tried a new spicy shrimp roll. I don't exactly remember the name, but wow, it was so good. Overall, your sushi is just 10/10. I also noticed you've added drinks since the last time I was here. It's been a while, so I didn't know about that, but I love it. I'm really into drinks like that. And they look just as perfect in real life as they do in pictures. Another 10/10. The only small thing I'd maybe suggest is working a little bit on the interior. But honestly, the atmosphere is still great. It really gives that cozy, homey vibe with a nice touch of Asian culture. I've been coming here since back when Davis Sushi & Fusion was in downtown Davis, and I'm genuinely so happy to see you growing. Your menu is much bigger now, and that's really cool to see. I wish you all the best. Places like this definitely deserve to be everywhere. By the way, I'm originally from Ukraine, but I absolutely love Asian cuisine. It's honestly a hundred times better than any fast food. Customer service: 10/10 Everyone is super friendly, open, and just genuinely nice people. ^~^

Great spicy food and friendly staff. Food (10/10) - The food here is AMAZING! Perfect balance of spice to flavor and every single bite is electric. The sichuan numbing pepper in the Chongqing soup was DELICIOUS. Mix it with some of the white rice and you have a dish all by iteself. The chicken itself had a nice chew and was very fragrant. Loved the texture and flaovr of the vermicelli; nice bounce to the noodles while soaking in all the spicy soup. My one complaint would be that they have soft bones (sign of long boiling time) so be careful of that! Also got the spicy stir-fried pork kidney... don't diss it 'til you try it. Super good, with that nice bit of chew. Take a bite of pepper, kidney, and white rice and BOOM! Perfect bite. **Recommendation: Rice is a key component for the dishes here. Without rice, everything will be too spicy, too savory, and overall too overwhelming. The rice is the thing that helps tie everything together (as it frequently is) Service (8/10) - Good service; nothing notable. Nice people and I think most of them speak Mandarin. Service and seating was also fast. Order of things to come out of the kitchen was a bit strange: soup for the chicken, rice, stir-fry, chicken. Honestly, not that big of a problem but just decided to comment. Price (8/10) - The price here is a bit on the pricier side; $54 for 2 but there were some leftovers (had to make my own rice though). Some of the dishes are more worth than others. The Chonqing chicken was $25 but you got a large bowl of chicken with soup and vermicelli. On the other hand, the stir-fry for $20 was notably padded with vegetables and I would say a majority of the dish was not the kidney. At the very least, the taste of the food compensates. However, this place is likely not a college go-to. Overall, great restaurant that I will be coming back to again (maybe with my parents LOL) or at the very least, would come with a large group as it is more fitting for family style. Highly recommend!

I am so glad I came! First they boasted about 40 different items! Apparently that's a lot, even by fancy Indian hotel standards! Thus the variety is of the charts! And you know this canto critic! He loves him some variety! There were so much good. Where to start... The best was the crab curry. I've never had crab and Indian masala curry before. Thus hands down it was the best! The crab legs were quite sweet. And even the curry itself very, very sweet as well! I had so much grab curry. The crab curry came in a long tray! So I got as much as I could eat! It was basically crab fest or crab feed! Second they had shrimp curry! That was also nothing I had before. It was ok. Nothing fancy other than a new Indian novelty. The mutton curry was very good. Very chunky pieces of meat! It may have been very spiced. But it was still very good. I've also had the mutton biryani and the jackfruit biryani was also good. I've never had jackfruit biryani either so to me it looked like beef at first. Man today was a day of firsts for me. This just shows that indeed it was a 40 item meal. I was having so much anticipation and let me say, I was not disappointed. Not disappointed at all, like I was when I watched Coolie... I really had a great time eating Indian food, trying out different new curries, jackfruit, and even a few Indian sweets that I normally would avoid. But today I had my fill. I wish part of the 40 item buffet banquet came with masala chai, mango lassi, or mango soft swerve ice cream. Oh well. The crab more than made up for it. Oh the other stuff were good too like the naan, sambar, saag, pakora, fried fish, samosa, etc. I prolly shouldn't be wasting my money and stomach in such items but this steak smoking canto can't cook sambar or saag so sue me! The staff were great. They were friendly, prompt, and refilled water enough even tho the place was packed! LoR: Solid A

Fast forward to now, my husband, sister, and I decided to come here for dinner because yeti restaurant was closed. For those who haven't been in here before, the best way I can describe this restaurant is dark. Paint is dark, booth are dark. Everything is kind of moody and dark. Definitely not my kind of aesthetic, but does that really matter for this restaurant? No. The service is always fine. Staff is always friendly enough and fast. When we got the food, we were pleasantly surprised, like I said before I have only eaten at the buffet here and that was over a decade ago. While we were eating, we noted that we actually enjoyed the flavors here more than we enjoy the flavors at yeti restaurant. Something about the blend of spices just fits our palette more than the other restaurant. We found that there was an adequate amount of food, they didn't skimp out on meats, and we were overall really happy with our meal. Is it the best Indian food I've ever had? No, but it was really good by Davis standards and consider considering that there aren't a ton of Indian places in the Sacramento area. I think this might be our new go to Indian place now! I'm glad I gave this another shot!

Kathmandu Kitchen is named after a city in Nepal, so it should be no surprise the food here is Indian and Nepali. While I can't speak to the flavor or authenticity of their momos or other Nepali staples, their curries are extremely delicious and distinct from other Indian restaurants and recipes I've tried. I think the first thing you might notice is that a lot of their curries have a touch of sweetness, and pretty much all of their curries have a consistent texture. They do an amazing job making each curry silky and rich and flavorful. Every dish tastes fresh and unique in their own spice profiles and marinades. I highly recommend the paneer tikka masala, chicken makhani (very similar/the same as butter chicken I think), kitchen masala, and basil curry. Also, their actual restaurant experience is very nice too. The staff is very courteous and professional. The restaurant is large, vibey, and clean. There are two reasons I don't give Kathmandu a 5 star. The first that both me and partner almost always need to add salt to the dish. I could see why someone might write off Kathmandu if they went a few times and wrote it off because they never tried adding salt to their dish. The second reason is that the spice level isn't as consistent as I'd like. Sometimes, asking for medium spice level results in almost no heat, sometimes it borders on too much. Sometimes getting hot spice level is hot but enjoyable, sometimes it's very hot even for me. Mild is consistent but Id guess that's because they simply don't add extra hot chili powder or something like that. Overall, I highly recommend this spot if you love Indian food and want to try some Nepali spins and flavors.

I usually end up spending around 24 dollars when I add extra rice and garlic naan to the butter chicken, but honestly, it is so worth it. The portions are really generous. They are very quick with their service, and even when I order ahead, the food is still hot and ready to go when I pick it up. Overall, this is a spot I will keep going back to. Great food, great portions, and always consistent.

Normally get the Couple's Special dinner with meat. Includes a plate of appetizers and lamb curry and butter chicken, with rice and lentil soup, 1 order of naan, and 2 drinks. The lamb or butter chicken are both good, not spicy at all though. We normally also order a the naan bread basket, which has a variety (garlic, butter, cilantro, peas and onions) really delicious.

Siu Mai: This was classic & well-executed, and there was a strong mushroom taste which I loved. Shrimp Dumplings: These were also classic, flavorful, and fresh. Jelly Fish & Sliced Beef Tendon: I loved the texture and spiciness of the general dish, and they were seasoned well. Beef Noodle Rolls: These were okay in my opinion, but silky and tender. Pan-Fried Turnip Cake: I loved the crisp outside, and it was soft on the inside. It did not feel too heavy and better than other places I've tried. Green Beans: These were slightly oily, but the portion size was generous for the price. Preserved Egg & Pork Congee: The congee was okay, but it was comforting and smooth and still had a good flavor.

Servers are rude, they got our order wrong but wont apologize and even argued with attitude Water is free. Hot tea is a dollar each so if youre asked if you want tea just like when they ask you if you would like water, youll be charged, They decided for the 18% gratuity right away even though there's a 15% option. Would not recommend. Would not come back.
