If you have never been here it's an AYCE hotpot with a 90 minute limit for about 30 dollars a person for lunch or dinner on the weekends and I believe around 20 dollars per person for lunch and 30 per person for dinner during the week. Unlimited noodles veggies meat and broth, how could you go wrong? My partner and I usually come here as a little one night get away without the kids. We live in Napa but love going to the veranda to shop and then enjoy some hotpot! We usually go on a Saturday night and most times we get Gabe as our server and he is always friendly, helpful and on top of it! This past weekend we went on a Sunday night instead and we got another amazing server named Kelley. She was so sweet and never skipped a beat. We never ran out of meat or drinks and she did it all with a smile on her face! The atmosphere here is unique. It's a little on the loud side for me personally but I did notice that going on a Sunday made a big difference. They were busy but the music wasn't as loud and the over all vibe was much calmer than we usually experience on Saturday nights. For our meal my partner gets the spicy miso which she loves (I am not a big fan as it just doesn't have enough depth of flavor for me) and I get the tonkotsu which is rich and almost has a creamy mouth feel. They have a self-serve sauce bar so I always make a dipping sauce for us which consists of garlic, soy sauce, chili sauce, vinegar and a ridiculous amount of green onion (I dip my meat in this after it's cooked and it's incredible). The veggies are always so fresh and they restock the bar constantly. They also have a lot of noodle options which I cannot comment on as we don't eat noodles but they look really good and I see almost everyone else eating them. Pro tip: get a side of white rice and at the end of your meal when the broth is getting low and it has all the added flavor from the meat and veggies add it to your pot for a savory porridge. Really enjoyed our first experience at Shabuya! Went on a Saturday evening (raining) and waited about 1hr 15-30mins for a table for 2. This place ALWAYS has a wait so be prepared! It's found within the Veranda which is a B for parking on weekend nights so probably a good call for someone to hop off the car to put your name in while you look for parking. Camille was our waitress and she was the best! She explained the process clearly and always checked in on us during our dinner. It's all you can eat for $30 which is very easy to make the most of in an hour and a half. It was okay, the Original house broth was not very tasty, as in, I had to have them remove it from the table because the stench it had was making us nauseous. It also had a not so good taste to it. Besides ordering the meats and appetizers from the server, there's an open-bar style for additional ingredients you'd like to put into you pot. It was fairly messy and empty at times, didn't seem like there was anyone managing it until you ask your server about a missing item, like tofu, taro, shrimp. The tonkatsu and miso broths were good, and we recommend the slicked steak/prime rib more than the chicken and pork. It's really loud in there, so if you're sensitive to sound, this may not be the best place. The Veranda gets busy so parking could take a while to find. By far my favorite hot pot spot in East Bay. I have been coming to Shabuya for a long time and I am shocked that I have yet review it! Shabuya is a small hot pot chain with a few locations in the West Coast. For a really good deal you get a fun and delicious AYCE hot pot experience! My favorite broth to get it their spicy miso or if I am feeling a more rich base, spicy tonkatsu (yes, you can order this if you ask!). The best meats to get are the blade and ribeye in my opinion. Super good and the broth always perfectly cooks it! I love that there is a huge buffet in the middle of the restaurant to get your veggies and seafood, and (best part) to make all your hot pot dipping sauces! I always make at least 3! Service is always super quick and friendly, and the staff is always attentive. You know how some AYCE places don't really return to your table after you order a couple times? They do not do that here. If anything, they always check on you if you need anything or wanna order more. I always order at least 10 order shout for myself. Came in for a party of two at Shabuya, and unfortunately the experience started off on a really disappointing note. I politely explained that my friend was still parking and that it was raining heavily outside. The host, Dariyon, told me we'd be seated once my friend arrived, which I completely understood and appreciated. However, despite the restaurant not being busy and no crowd waiting, I was then told I couldn't stand inside and had to wait outside--in the rain. When I pointed out that it was pouring and there was no customers, the response Dariyon said was, "I know." He could've been more professional and understand that outside was pouring heavily. Maybe Dariyon could have said, "No worries you can wait here but if customers come in, we would have to have you stand somewhere else." When I said, "it is raining outside", Dariyon said, "I know." What kind of customer service is this? That lack of basic consideration was honestly shocking. First impressions matter, and being told to stand outside in bad rain--especially when there was clearly space inside--felt dismissive and unwelcoming. It made me question how customers are treated here overall. The difference was in price- weekend lunch (and all day) is $29.999; M-Th lunch is $20.99. not much difference in offerings other than the full price menu has a choice of 8 meats and lunch was just 6. An affordable, yet delicious AYCE hot pot location in the Bay Area? Say no more! If this statement is enough to entice you to satisfying that hot pot craving of yours, then Shabuya should be the next stop on your list if you're ever in the East Bay Area. Located in Concord, Shabuya offers AYCE at an affordable price of $20.99 for lunch and $29.99 for dinner (which is about a solid $5-10 off the normal price I'm used to seeing of $35+ for AYCE). Don't let the price fool you, the food and quality of Shabuya can rival any other AYCE location I've been to. I visited their Concord location on a Friday night for dinner, arriving around 6pm or so. They do have a waitlist that you can join either on Yelp or when you arrive at the restaurant (luckily they are located in a plaza so if you do join later you can still walk around the area while waiting for your turn). We got lucky, and they were just cleaning up a table as we stepped inside and they told us our wait would be about 5 minutes. After being seated, we were greeted by our server Josi who was an absolute delight throughout the night that I just HAD to give her a shoutout here. Seriously, if Josi is your server you'll be in for a fantastic dining experience as she is not only attentive to her diners, but also an absolute sweetheart to be around. We selected our soup options - miso for me and the house special for my partner (after debating between that one and the tonkatsu option, which Josi steered us towards the house option, thank you again!). We were then informed that we could order up to 2 appetizers per round and 4 plates of meat per round (of note each plate of meet had about 4 slices). Non-alcoholic drinks were refillable, and so I went with their lychee iced tea (which was another one of Josi's recommendations). Just a quick aside, I know the drinks aren't why you'd want to dine here but the lychee iced tea was to die for and I was absolutely delighted that I could get refills on it and enjoyed the drink to my heart's content. For our first round we got their gyoza, soy glazed chicken karage, prime flat iron steak, beef toro, premium rib eye, and prime blade meat. Service was fairly speedy and we were dining on our meat in no time. Other hot pot accompaniments and sauces are self-serve at the salad-bar type of set up in the center of the restaurant. I will say there isn't a whole lot of options, but they do have your standard noodles, vegetables, fish cake, and seafood selections available (which in my opinion is plenty give the price point of this AYCE hot pot place). With all of our food in front of us we dug in and enjoyed our meal to the fullest - the meat was of good quality overall and the entire meal experience was very enjoyable. The meat quality doesn't appear to be that high quality for some of them. All of the broths had flavor, and the spicy miso wasn't too spicy. They don't have much meat selection to choose from, but sometimes that's nice. Simple and straight to the point. There's a little buffet section in the center of the restaurant where you can make your own sauces, grab veggies, noodles, tofu, fish cakes, and seafood. We visit this restaurant often and have always loved the environment, location, and service. However, today's experience was completely different. One of the runners kept slamming plates onto his cart every time he picked them up. We weren't sure what his problem was, but it was loud and disruptive throughout our meal. We brought it to the manager's attention, and his response was simply, "Oh, he does that every time!" Really? It's hard to understand how a restaurant could condone that kind of behavior. The noise continued the entire time we were there, and it completely ruined the atmosphere we used to enjoy. I told my wife this would be our last visit.
