    Dan Dan Noodles 担担面

What happened?! This place served a good portion for the price. The pictures on the menu are misleading. They also got rid of the spicy pig ear. The Dan Dan Noodles were okay, but very salty, and the beef shank was lifted up by a pile of salad. The Chives were already falling apart when it arrived. We used to frequent this place, but now it feels like it lacks a lot of things.

I love me some dim sum. I got food to go, I got soup dumplings, Dan Dan noodles & a beef sandwich. And no I didn't eat this all in 1 sitting. My favorite was the soup dumplings. If you get those to go, be sure to ask for ginger and vinegar. The Dan noodles had good flavor and had a slight spiciness to it. The beef sandwich was filled with beef the "bun" was soft and chewy. But it feels like there should've been a sauce to eat with it. The food was all cooked fresh & packed nicely. The restaurant is small and located right next-door to gelato parlor.

Ordered take out for this location and was a bit disappointed. Firstly, the portion size is definitely on the smaller end. Additionally, it was also extremely salty when mixing in the toppings with the provided portion of noodles. Unfortunately I have yet to try the dumplings so this review is specifically for the noodles.

Came in on a weekend and was seated pretty quickly. Ordered steamed pork buns, beef pancake roll, Beef Stew Noodles, and Pan Fried Chive Dumplings and the food came out pretty quickly. The beef pancake roll was interesting, wish the roll was a bit crunchier. Really enjoyed the beef stew noodles and the beef was well flavored. Chive dumplings were crispy.

i have been to this place a few times now and the dishes are all pretty solid. the noodles do lean towards the saltier side and definitely spicier side if you get a spicy noodle. i do appreciate the portion size for the noodles as it is perfect for one. if you are planning to share i would order a few. dumplings are juicy but could use a bit more flavor. i wish they had a vegetarian soup dumpling but at least there are other vegetarian options on the menu. the staff is friendly and there are plenty of tables. they closed half of the restaurant due to short staffing.

I came here on a weekend afternoon with friends, and we were seated immediately. We chose a few of the "must try" items on the menu, and they did not disappoint! Pork w/ Crab Meat Xiao Long Bao: These came out steaming hot! These were delicate with a flavorful broth inside. There was a good balance between the pork and crab. Pork & Shrimp Pot Stickers: These pot stickers were slightly stuck together when they came out due to their crispy bottoms. However, it was easy to separate, and I enjoyed these pot stickers that had a really juicy filling. Pan-Fried Pork Buns: These were fluffy and had a savory, well-seasoned filling. Fried Rice: There was nothing to special, but it was still tasty and went well as a base dish with all the other dim sum items.

Today, we walked in and were quickly seated by Carol. The restaurant was pretty empty, so we were able to choose the best seats for us. We ordered the green onion, pancake pork, soup, dumplings, pork wonton with chili sauce, Dandan, noodles, sweet-and-sour cucumber, zha jiang Mian, beef stew, noodle soup, and oolong tea. We noticed that the Dondo noodles were not spicy at all, so then we tried to put some of the hot chili oil on the food and mix it up to get the spicier spices at the bottom of the bowl, but they weren't very flavorful today. Overall, the food was pretty OK a little bland, but not so bad.

This place is an absolute gem for affordable, delicious dumplings. This place caught me by surprise with its pricing, layout, and quality. -casual dining where you get seated and order on your phone. Very easy to have separate checks if dining with a group -can be a longer wait for food if busy because it's a small restaurant Food 10/10 Cucumber appetizer - a must try, the sauce is amazing and the cucumbers are crisp and refreshing 10/10 Spicy beef sandwich - the steamed bun is soft and warm and the beef is perfectly seasoned 9/10 Green onion pancake - crispy and delicious, perfect appetizer portion size 9/10 spicy beef pancake roll - great combination of the green onion pancake and the spicy beef. It's pretty big and could be a meal for one person 10/10 pork and crab xiao long boa - best soup dumplings hands down 10/10 pan fried pork buns and steamed pork buns both are winners Overall, go with an open mind and empty belly and try a little bit of everything, you won't be disappointed!

I tried the XLB pork. It was standard. For weekday lunch hour, there wasn't much rush. Staff was professional. Bathroom needs attention. I look forward to trying more items on the menu.

Went by this spot the other day. Not crowded on a weekday and there was plenty of seating. Got our usual cucumber dish (excellent), and the XLB, potstickers and soy sauce and green onion noodles. Everything was hot and fresh. They were a little shorthanded that day so tables weren't bussed quickly but they kept our ice water filled and food came out quickly.

So good! I honestly went here when it first opened and I thought it wasn't that great but i decided to give it another chance. The pork XLBs were SO GOOD. The soup was yummy and the meat was tender. All the dough for the dimsum plates tasted so fresh. The first time I went it was chewy but I'm glad we tried it when they were able to perfect their menu. Great costumer service, constantly checked in on us. We also got the ube milk tea it was refreshing with our meal. I want to try the thai tea (they were out) but def next time! They have specials: the egg fried rice and pumpkin dimsum with whip cream on the side. Such a good way to end the meal. Lots of tables and spread out, I didn't feel overwhelmed in my space and had enough room. Def would come again!

    Five spice beef shank looks
    Emily Z.

This place is not what it used to be. We ordered the five spice beef shank, pan fried chive dumplings, pork and shrimp boiled dumplings and dan dan noodles. The most disappointing dish was the beef shanks. It had no seasoning. Their serving was the size of a toddlers dish. It was thinner than paper covering some dry and brown salad to look like the dish was stacked with beef. For $9 this gave nothing, not even flavor. Everything else tastes like it was made with a bucket of salt. I guess thats where all their "seasoning" went. Pan fried chive was like mush inside. Pork and shrimp boiled dumplings were clearly factory made. The dumpling skin felt and tastes like watery clay. Dan dan noodles was so salty it shouldn't even be legal to eat. I think thats where the spice for the beef shanks went. Whole establishment felt like i walked into an Ihop that wants to be oriental.

SO happy that Walnut Creek has a location! I have been to the Oregon location and the San Jose location. This store is narrow and long, however did not take the experience of dining here. Service was excellent, prices were much more affordable than Dumpling Hours. Still the same rewards system as all the other locations, to earn points everyone you dine here! Food was delicious! Especially like the dumplings. Parking was easy on the street, depending on time, may have to pay, totally affordable like $2 to $3. Came on a Sunday free parking. Came again on a weekday, about $4 in total for parking for my whole dining duration. Will definitely come again!

We all left knowing we'd definitely be back with our families and friends. The ultimate highlight for me was a surprisingly unique Salt and Pepper Squid. I am not usually a squid lover, but this beautiful dish instantly enticed me. The squid was presented almost like cauliflower and cooked to crisp perfection, complemented by vibrant red and green peppers. What is often a tasteless ingredient was bursting with rich umami flavor! The Changsha Chicken Clay Pot was packed with flavor and tender chicken. Similarly, the Seafood Tofu Clay Pot--a Cantonese classic--was exceptionally well prepared. The Cumin Lamb was incredibly tender; while I don't eat lamb myself, the rest of our table absolutely loved it. Even the Orange Peel Chicken (or General Tso's)--a classic Americanized Chinese dish with fried chicken in a sweet and sour sauce--was a big hit with those who ordered it. Lunch was also served with their signature pickled vegetables, fried peanuts, and a choice of hot and sour or corn soup--all of which were delicious. Located in a quiet corner of the Countrywood Shopping Center, Sichuan House is a spinoff of the highly popular Sichuan Fortune House in Pleasant Hill. Over the years, the menu has evolved to suit local tastes by incorporating popular Cantonese specialties and non-spicy options alongside traditional fare. Regardless of what you order, the competent kitchen delivers consistently delicious food. Between the tasty, well-executed dishes, the clean and calm interior, and the friendly, attentive service, Sichuan House will easily make you a return customer!

I accidentally found Kung Fu Kitchen by reading another Yelper's reviews who was at the same Stretch Zone I was trying out in Clayton. Like others have mentioned, the shrimp is plump and succulent. I enjoyed the shrimp in my chow fun. The chow fun itself had good texture albeit too much soy sauce. The Hong Kong noodles were beautiful to look at and had everything you can imagine on it. There were two kinds of mushrooms, chicken, beef, sweet peas, shrimp and bok choy. The sauce in the Hong Kong noodles was not very strong but the amount of high quality toppings made up for it. The dry braised green beans had good crunch and there was a generous amount but the flavoring was also on the light side. This is good for people on low sodium diets. Both the Hong Kong noodle dish and the green bean dish were generously sized but the chow fun dish is more of a one person dish. They come on nice bright white plates. Prices were not cheap but it is the norm for the area. We paid close to 60 dollars after tip for three dishes at lunch and had some leftovers. They have very good lunch specials on the weekdays that give you plenty of food for about 13 dollars a person. People near us were enjoying their lunch specials. However, I advise taking to go on hot days because it was 95° inside the restaurant and there was no AC. I was wearing a thick hoodie today and it was pretty hot the entire time I was eating inside.
