The Pork & Crab Xiao Long Bao were packed with flavor, the Pan-Fried Chive Dumplings had that perfect crisp, and the Dan Dan Noodles were gone fast enough to raise concerns. Then came the Banana Crepe with whipped cream, and that thing was a bomb hit. We said we'd "just try it," then proceeded to demolish it like it owed us money. It was a battlefield at the dinner table, and we annihilated. Staff were friendly, helpful with the menu, and the food was a great value for what you get. Wanted to go 4.5 but the broth of the chicken soup was a touch saltyc for my taste. Flavor was absolutely there and I'm sure the salinity level would be fine for most, but I said what I said and it's just a matter of personal taste. The Pork XLB we spot on. No notes. Really, no notes (I know from me that shocks most of you; granted you're justified in your expectations of such). Service is a little on the slow side but everyone is really nice and working hard so no dings there. One thing I'd love to see on the menu is steamed green beans with garlic. I adore those with XLB. Overall is it a Din Tai rip-off? I wouldn't say that, more like an homage for half the price and without the two hour wait. You won't leave disappointed or hungry. Give Dough Zone a shot. read more

What happened?! This place served a good portion for the price. The pictures on the menu are misleading. They also got rid of the spicy pig ear. The Dan Dan Noodles were okay, but very salty, and the beef shank was lifted up by a pile of salad. The Chives were already falling apart when it arrived. I love me some dim sum. I got food to go, I got soup dumplings, Dan Dan noodles & a beef sandwich. And no I didn't eat this all in 1 sitting. My favorite was the soup dumplings. If you get those to go, be sure to ask for ginger and vinegar. The Dan noodles had good flavor and had a slight spiciness to it. The beef sandwich was filled with beef the "bun" was soft and chewy. Ordered take out for this location and was a bit disappointed. Firstly, the portion size is definitely on the smaller end. Additionally, it was also extremely salty when mixing in the toppings with the provided portion of noodles. i have been to this place a few times now and the dishes are all pretty solid. the noodles do lean towards the saltier side and definitely spicier side if you get a spicy noodle. i do appreciate the portion size for the noodles as it is perfect for one. if you are planning to share i would order a few. dumplings are juicy but could use a bit more flavor. i wish they had a vegetarian soup dumpling but at least there are other vegetarian options on the menu. the staff is friendly and there are plenty of tables. they closed half of the restaurant due to short staffing. read more

I came here on a weekend afternoon with friends, and we were seated immediately. We chose a few of the "must try" items on the menu, and they did not disappoint! Pork w/ Crab Meat Xiao Long Bao: These came out steaming hot! These were delicate with a flavorful broth inside. There was a good balance between the pork and crab. Pork & Shrimp Pot Stickers: These pot stickers were slightly stuck together when they came out due to their crispy bottoms. Today, we walked in and were quickly seated by Carol. The restaurant was pretty empty, so we were able to choose the best seats for us. We ordered the green onion, pancake pork, soup, dumplings, pork wonton with chili sauce, Dandan, noodles, sweet-and-sour cucumber, zha jiang Mian, beef stew,noodle soup, and oolong tea. We noticed that the Dondo noodles were not spicy at all, so then we tried to put some of the hot chili oil on the food and mix it up to get the spicier spices at the bottom of the bowl, but they weren't very flavorful today. Went by this spot the other day. Not crowded on a weekday and there was plenty of seating. Got our usual cucumber dish (excellent), and the XLB, potstickers and soy sauce and green onion noodles. So good! I honestly went here when it first opened and I thought it wasn't that great but i decided to give it another chance. The pork XLBs were SO GOOD. The soup was yummy and the meat was tender. All the dough for the dimsum plates tasted so fresh. The first time I went it was chewy but I'm glad we tried it when they were able to perfect their menu. Great costumer service, constantly checked in on us. We also got the ube milk tea it was refreshing with our meal. I want to try the thai tea (they were out) but def next time! They have specials: the egg fried rice and pumpkin dimsum with whip cream on the side. Such a good way to end the meal. This place is not what it used to be. We ordered the five spice beef shank, pan fried chive dumplings, pork and shrimp boiled dumplings and dan dan noodles. The most disappointing dish was the beef shanks. It had no seasoning. Their serving was the size of a toddlers dish. It was thinner than paper covering some dry and brown salad to look like the dish was stacked with beef. For $9 this gave nothing, not even flavor. Everything else tastes like it was made with a bucket of salt. I guess thats where all their "seasoning" went. Pan fried chive was like mush inside. Pork and shrimp boiled dumplings were clearly factory made. The dumpling skin felt and tastes like watery clay. Dan dan noodles was so salty it shouldn't even be legal to eat. SO happy that Walnut Creek has a location! I have been to the Oregon location and the San Jose location. This store is narrow and long, however did not take the experience of dining here. Service was excellent, prices were much more affordable than Dumpling Hours. Still the same rewards system as all the other locations, to earn points everyone you dine here! Food was delicious! Especially like the dumplings. Parking was easy on the street, depending on time, may have to pay, totally affordable like $2 to $3. Came on a Sunday free parking. Dough House blew us away from start to finish! We started with the passion fruit green tea -- so refreshing and perfectly balanced. The green onion pancake was crisp, flaky, and full of flavor. Been meaning to try this place for a while and worth the wait. Delicious! Xiaolong bao was juicy and flavorful. The zhajiang mian had nice combo of intense savory flavors mixed with crunchy veggies. The kale with sesame addrd a nice touch of lightness with all the yummy bao. Next time will tey the wontons in soup instead of fried. i think its light filling better in soup. Service was perfect. I chose a Sugar Plum Juice; which was very refreshing! I ordered the Combo A that included Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings), Dan Dan Noodles and a cold drink- you can choose from soda or a milk tea! Dario O. ordered the Combo B which included XLB, Pork & Shrimp Potstickers and a cold drink. Dario O. chose a Thai Iced Tea. For the XLB, you get 8 and can choose either Pork, Chicken or Pork & Crab. I always go here when I'm in Walnut Creek. The store is nice and clean, with calm decor. I love sitting on their outside patio during the sunset. The service is fast, and you mostly order via QR code. The food comes fast, and it tastes DELICIOUS for a pretty even/inexpensive price. As it turns out, I did not have the best dining experience at Dough Zone. First of all, to access the menu, you need to scan the QR code. We did not have great cell service and needed to have staff bring us a paper menu. We were then informed that the preferred way of placing an order was through the QR code link so there's that... After finally ordering, the staff informs us that the sauce for the Spicy Beef Shank was premixed therefore, they were unable to remove the cilantro. (We ended up canceling that dish). We ordered Dan Dan Noodles, Pork Soup Dumplings, Spicy Beef Pancake Roll and Chicken Potstickers. I'm unsure if any of these are house made but the dumplings/pot stickers tasted suspiciously like the ones from Costco. As for drinks, we had the Ube & Thai Milk Teas which were good but a bit on the sweet side. The restaurant itself was inviting and warm, cutely decorated. It was a cold night so xLB seemed to be the perfect solution. We had tried to call to get a reservation around 3pm for 630pm but they told us no reservations. When we arrived they had reserved one of the tables for someone else for a party I'd 6 so we waits for 30 mins. We finally got seated at 7pm only to find out they were completely sold out of XLB. The guy could have told us while we were waiting since that seems like going to a pizza place and then telling you they were out of pizzas for the night. So many good reviews, decided to try it out at 3:30pm on a Sunday. They were completely out of any vegetarian options aside from a couple of salads. Oh well, I wasn't that hungry anyway and found some other things to nibble on. (I'm not a strict vegetarian, just prefer to eat vegetarian when possible. This would have been a bigger deal if my diet was restricted.) I will say that the food we ordered was just ok but it was reasonably priced. The Dan Dan Noodles had a weird aftertaste, the chicken wontons were decent, and the scallion pancake was thin and flavorless. The super annoying part came when I had to take my 1yr old to the restroom for a diaper change. Neither restroom had a changing station available. The pork soup dumplings are great. The dough is thin and the filling tastes fresh and flavorful. The beef pancake is also quite tasty with a ton of thinly sliced marinated beef. The noodles are also quite tasteful. The downside of Dough Zone is how small the portion is. You really don't get a lot for the order. The noodles dish is small and the dumpling orders are also tiny.
