Wow! This is so *cool - a legitimate ice-cream shop & so close to home!…read more We were greeted not only by an amazing aroma - but also by Sasha who helped us at the counter. They feature several different varieties of waffle cones, sugar cones and cups for ice cream. The cases were loaded with a wonderful selection of Umpqua Ice Cream, and they offer many toppings!

On 15/13/24, I stumbled upon Kalama Cone in Kalama, Washington. This is a a family owned business…read morethat opened August. 2023. The store features regional ice creams brands: Umpqua, Cascade Glacier, and Tillamook. They had 16 flavors including Old World Spumoni, Cranberry Cheesecake, Kona Coffee, Marionberry Pie, Maple Nut, and Huckleberry Heaven. I ordered a Kid's Cone of Old World Spumoni because it is a flavor that is hard to find. In fact, it had been decades since I last had it. The ice cream cone size was generous. This was my first time trying Umpqua Ice Cream. It was pretty good. The customer service from Michael was excellent! The store interior consists of two rooms and a window facing counter. There's also a bistro table outside. The tables and chairs were made by the owners. Whether you live nearby or are looking to take a break from highway driving, this is a nice stop. The ice cream is good, but not great. I wish they were selling Snoqualmie Ice Cream or Acme, both of which are made in Washington and are far superior to all three of the Oregon branded ice creams Kalama Cone sells. If I had an ice cream business, I would stay away from selling ice cream brands that can be found in most grocery stores. I say that as someone who drove an ice cream truck one summer. The items that sold best were those that weren't readily available elsewhere and cheaper to buy directly. I have pictures of the ice cream in the case, but I wasn't able to get a picture of my cone because I was traveling alone, my hands were full, and I didn't have a way to take a photo without risking dropping the ice cream. Great stop for ice cream in Government Camp! The staff was awesome, the line was quick, and the ice…read morecream was tasty. Bonus that the little shack is really cute! Just what you need from your neighborhood ice cream stop. I got the Kona Coffee flavor - highly recommend!

A pleasant surprise in Govy!…read more My kids have been coming to summer ski camp for five years now, and both kids have had Volcano Cones. Today was the first day we've all had their ice cream. First, it's just ice cream! I don't know what the name represents. Because all though Mt. Hood is a "potentially active stratovolcano" (pulled that straight from Google!), most people wouldn't extrapolate that far, in my opinion. I thought a volcano cone was going to be like a hole in the middle filled with hot fudge or something ... it's not. It's just ice cream! The staff working at the shop today were so nice!!!! I'm hoping this is always the experience! During COVID it's hard to find good help, but the two young women were great with service. Kudos to these employees! The ice cream is delicious! I don't know if it's "homemade" but it has to be small-batch. They even have a traditionally Govy flavor of Huckleberry; which I enjoyed and would recommend and would order again. I also got Mint Chip, my staple! The mint chip was green meaning they had to add food dye; I prefer when brands don't, but the food dye doesn't effect the taste. My husband and son both got salted caramel and Oreo. The Oreo was ordered on recommendation from other reviewers and they liked it. Salted caramel is a favorite of my son especially and he gives it two thumbs up. This will be an annual experience. Update: Went for a second night and got the Beachcomber which I enjoyed more than I expected. Also got the strawberry which has been my least favorite so far - not bad, just least favorite.

I left a vm & was called back swiftly. My husband and I arrived on his birthday after a nice aesthetically pleasing drive. We were met at the door by a lovely woman and our pie. That day entailed an outing for lunch & a trip to the beach along with dinner, but we finally arrived home to try the pie. First, I rarely eat sweets, but in memory of my dad who loved pecan pie, & in celebration of my husband's special day, I had to try just a little. The pecan pie was hands down the best I've ever had. The crust was delightful, the balance of sweetness was perfect, and I loved that the pecans were chopped and caramelized. My husband absolutely loved it! We will absolutely be ordering from this gem again!
