It's a perfect day under the eves of the shady, stone patio at this beautiful winery in the country of Hamptonville, NC. Granted it's 90 degrees today but with the shade and the pond with flowing fountain it feels much cooler. Fyi air conditioning is only a few steps away in the tasting room. The wine I tried was just perfect for my tastebuds, not too dry but not overly sweet either. Paired wonderfully with my lobster roll from Cousins food truck, they are the best fresh Maine lobster around in my opinion. Not alot of people here today which makes this experience so peaceful and pleasant. It was nice that I could bring my dog as well. I would recommend Shadow Springs when you are out for a drive and have some time for wine. In my opinion its always wine o'clock. read more

We got there about 30 mins Before they were closing and the lady couldn't be more friendly . The dog was an added bonus... what a sweetie. My girls loved her.. We did two flights as they were priced very good and you could take home a glass with it. And the wines were pleasant. They had a big variety for any taste and we even got to try strawberry wine and margarita flavored wine- not overly sweet and super interesting... the reds were nice and the whites were so enjoyable that we wanted to take most home with us. They prices were good and the atmosphere was relaxed. We will be visiting often as we live not too far from there. It is kid and pet friendly which is important to a lot of people visiting. I wanted to update our review as it had been a couple of years since we have been to Shadow Springs. What we had this time: Rouge - This was not as good as I remembered. We still cannot distinguish what flavors we taste with this one, and the description does not help. Shortcake - this is a nice sweet strawberry wine. Mistelle De Petit Manseng - I loved this one, it was definitely very sweet! Sparkles - I had been wanting to try this one for a while since it's described a sparkling moscato style wine. It was only okay to me, I was definitely expecting it to be sweeter like a moscato, but I would consider it more like a prosecco. I definitely prefer their sister winery - Windsor Run, so Shadow Springs gets overlooked by us, but I would still recommend stopping by Shadow Springs if you are in the area as they have a nice wine selection, with a beautiful setting. But if you like sweet you will love it. Dark Shadow - this is a MUST TRY. I bought this wine and wish I got more. Imagine you are in Willy wonka's chocolate factory. And then the Oompa Loompas push you in the chocolate. That is the dark shadow. It is so smooth and chocolate lovers must try it. Tangled oak select - this wine was a interesting flavor. I did not particularly like. You know when you were at recess in middle school and came in to drink water at the fountain and it tasted a little metallic and weird. That's what this wine tasted like to me and others I was with. Only wine I didn't enjoy here. Opulence - I enjoyed this wine but it is definitely a slap in the face of chocolate. Very intense flavor. Beautiful winery with a great selection of wines. From the large, decorated tasting room you have a beautiful view of the lake, fountain, and vineyards. They have seating inside and outside. Although it was cold, we decided to take our wine tasting outside. We tasted their Tinsel, L'amour doux, Strawberry Shortcake, and Dark Shadow. The tinsel wine had a good flavor, but was not my favorite. The L'amour doux was very strong and sweet. My favorite was the strawberry shortcake. It has an amazing strawberry flavor with a balance of tartness and sweetness. We bought a bottle to take home. The dark shadow wine was interesting. I have not had a chocolate wine before so the flavor was new to me. It certainly was chocolatey. The tasting room is open during COVID-19. Masks are required and tables are socially distant. They also use disposable tasting cups. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend this winery to others! read more

We did a couple wineries as part of my friends bachelorette party and I am so glad that Shadow Springs Vineyard was one of the wineries we choose. The property is really pretty, driving up you can already tell you are going to have a nice experience. The service was wonderful, all of the employees were very friendly, fun, and knowledgeable about the wines. There is both indoor and outdoor seating so no matter what the weather is like you can still enjoy your visit. We did a flight and I liked everything I tried. We also had a bottle of their champagne and it was surprisingly delicious. It was so good that I got another bottle to take home with me. read more

First of all, this vineyard is just around the corner from my favorite Amish store. My wife and I decided to try this place instead of the one that we normally go to when we do the hike to Carter falls and we were pleasantly surprised and glad that we did. The views here are amazing and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. You are more than welcome to bring your own food to bring your dog to just sit around and chill It's not your typical winery where they are snobbish and are just happy to have people there. We did get a bottle of their Cabernet Franc and it was very good and went along well with the sandwiches that we purchased from the Shiloh general store. Another bonus is that although they are a small North Carolina winery they don't feel the need to charge $40 per bottle. Our Cabernet Franc which was very good was only $22 and we will definitely be back. read more

The tasting was $5 and included six wines that they had already picked out as part of the Royal Limousine package. They are probably most known for their strawberry chocolate wine they create around the holiday. I was a fan! The woman running the tasting was friendly, she told us a bit about each wine while her co-worker was pouring the sample! I liked the sample sheet they gave us. You put your wine glass on the wine that was to be poured next so it was easy to keep track of what you were drinking at the time. The wine is absolutely delicious!! Jamie, one of the owners, was super detailed and helpful when explaining each wine during our tasting ($10 for 7 wines). We loved the Merlot and Chocolate wine and highly suggest them both. The views are beautiful as you enjoy your glass. There is outdoor seating on the patio and the sunroom is perfect although there isn't a ton of seats. Shadow Springs has been one of my favorite vineyards in the Yadkinville Valley for years. They specialize in some Bordeaux varietals, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, but they branch out with others like Chambourcin and Seyval. All of the reds are delicious, but the Meritage is my favorite. They also have a great strawberry wine and Dark Shadow, which is red wine infused with dark chocolate. The people here are always friendly and knowledgeable. The building and vineyard are immaculate and scenic. Stop by if you're in the area! read more

Beautiful and spacious winery with very friendly staff! We visited this winery and found the wines to be very different and experimental. Can someone say Strawberry wine and dark chocolate! Also slushie wines! They were unique and great for a tasting. We also had 3 women giving the tasting who were fun and enjoyable during the presentation. The building itself is very nice and large. Two stories with a beautiful terrace and patio overlooking the pond. I've actually been to a wedding here before as well. Lots of seating options inside from bar stool bistro tables to a living room couch. Overall I will definitely be back for a visit to this winery in the future. I was hosting a reunion of Vietnam vets that served in my unit and we needed a group activity that woould be fun and memorable. We decided a trip to the Yadkin Valley for wine tasting would be perfect. So, we visited all the local wineries. The first one was Shadow Springs and what a find it was. They were so helpful planning our event that we chose them as our first stop. WE arrived in a large bus with 43 veterans and their wives for wine tasting and lunch. Chuck and Jamey were the perfect hosts. The presentation was first class. Of course the wines were delicious! They arranged for lunch to be brought in from the Amish Store too! What a great time! We took a trip up to the Yadkin Valley to check out a couple of the local wineries. We chose to go to Shadow Springs after hearing good things from a co-worker, and were pleased to find that we enjoyed it as much as they did. I will say this...this is a REAL winery, in that you will not find a hint of Muscadine (ick) here. Shadow Springs is located a few miles off the highway. It's a bit tough to find since we didn't come across any signs for it until about a 1/2 mile from the entrance. Upon pulling up we were floored with the impressive view of the expansive grapes and natural setting. Upon entering the tasting room we were greeted by a friendly little dog who I'm assuming was the family's pet. Equally friendly were the people behind the bar, and the individual who ended up running our tasting was the owner's wife. There are two types of tastings...you could pick six different wines for $5, or you could try all fourteen of their wines for $11. Since we wanted to hit a couple more wineries we opted for the six, and after selecting them from the sheet she began pouring. She was very informed on the grapes, wines, and overall process, and it was fun listening to her talk about the wine while we sipped. The wines were all very good, and had a good variety of reds and whites, ranging from dry to sweet dessert. My personal favorites were the oak-fermented Chardonnay, Crimson Sunset (a nice red blend) and Dark Shadow, which is a chocolate-infused wine. I highly recommend tasting the Dark Shadow, as it's not just some gimmicky chocolate wine...this thing is the real deal! The bottle prices were about right for an independent winery, ranging from $14-22. We picked up a bottle of the Chardonnay on the way out. The tasting person was also helpful in recommending other wineries nearby. Great wine, lovely scenery and friendly people make Shadow Springs a five-star wine tasting experience for sure. read more

Shadow Springs is a nice winery that is set a little off the road and a nice open tasting room. I will admit that the wines here were not my favorite wines, but they do make a single varietal Petite Verdot that is drinkable, and not often made into a single varietal wine, normally it is used as a blending grape. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and offered lots of good stories and generally made the tasting enjoyable. read more
