This is a very fine golf course, although they are a little proud of themselves. Would have given another star if it was not for the clubhouse bar. If you want a beer, be prepared to pay the highest price in the valley. $7/8 for a draft!!!! My recommendation is bring your own and drink in the parking lot. read more

One of the best maintained golf courses in the Valley Suggestion to the Pro Shop: set expectations about playing time. Golfers expect slow rounds and fast rounds depending on day of week, tournaments, how many others are on the course, etc. The best way to proactively address frustration is communication. Tell golfers the current pace of play before releasing them to the first tee. Shadow is a great course and if it's busy that day, good for the course! Capitalism FTW we want SV to flourish. Top 5 Treasure Valley track, without question! Every time I golf here, I feel like I'm on vacation... that is how well they keep the course, but not to exclude the service I receive from the staff! The course is fine, actually pretty fun. Front nine is more fun than the back, just one man's opinion. The 2 star review is for the conversation I just had with the cash register guy. When you make a 7:35AM tee time you don't expect a 4:40 round. No Starter checking tee times, people jumping other's starting times, no visible Marshall on the course. There was one foursome holding up the entire course, literally 3 groups per hole the last 6 or 7 holes. When I brought this to the attention of pro shop cash register guy afterwards he became argumentative, saying "oh no you weren't close to 5 hours" and "well I am SO sorry" in an extremely condescending tone. When I said you guys need to have a Marshall he said "oh we do", again with an attitude. Unless you like to wait 5-10 minutes for EVERY single shot and get attitude from the staff, stay away from this place on weekends. Not worth the $160 for a twosome. read more

Visiting form California. Met up with my buddy who moved to Idaho a bunch of years back. He suggested Shadow Valley. Fun course. Kept up very nicely. gets pretty busy from what I could see. We started off on the back nine. Tight baby. Tight. For this guy's game it was a bit tight. My buddy gave me some advice and we were paired up with a few regulars, locals Bob & Roman which also helped. Great gentlemen, friendly and pretty darn good golfers. Front nine opens up, greens run well. Had a good time. Check in told me price. I asked if he had a Senior rate, he said we sure do and apparently it was the same as when he first told me. Sooooooooooo I'm guessing they don't have a Senior rate. I'd play it again...........:) read more

It's my home course. Only a 2 minute drive. Staff is awesome. It's a challenging enough course.

First time playing here and I had a really good time. The front 9 is absolutely beautiful. It has rolling hills and thick rough. The elevation changes throughout the course was really challenging. The greens were really difficult to work around with the many slopes. But the back nine was a lot more forgiving and easy. I highly recommend! read more

I drive past the golf course every day. I have never played golf here, but was struck by a rogue golf ball that ruined my windshield. I called the golf course and supplied proof of the damage and they paid to have my windshield replaced. Staff was friendly and I was happy that they made the situation right. read more

Friendly people and a beautiful course. What more can you ask for? This one offers some tricky holes and please, be prepared to "lose a few". You will. Played here yesterday (June 27) in a First Tee of Idaho tourney. Turned out to be a great day of golf with great people. Many of the greens were redone recently and our group could tell. The ball moved well. Seemed like a lot of long holes, but also a few shorts. It was a nice mix of ups, downs, across. Not as many beaches as other courses, or ponds. There were a couple of ditches that weren't visible from thw tee's. Bill D. isn't lying...bring some extra balls. Had a great time with great staff. Pretty place. read more

This has to be one of the nicest courses in Boise. The scenery is unmatched with lots of elevation change and views of the foothills. 5/5 for course conditions - well maintained from tee to green. 5/5 for the staff- very friends at check in. They do provide complimentary coffee on the course. One time when I played they even offered a spiked coffee option. read more

One of my favorite golf courses in the valley! This is a challenging layout but very enjoyable. It's fun for golfers of all skill levels. I've played here over 50 times during the last 20 years. Greens are great but speed varies depending on time of year. Pace of play is typically pretty good but can be slow at time when super busy due to the undulation and many trees. Service in the pro shop is top notch! read more

Sometimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your name... What a fantastic place. Just far enough away from everything that you can find a spot on the range almost always, folks here are down to earth enough to chat with you briefly. Folks smile. The course has great variety and greens are usually in solid shape. A great value for the price. I will never stop coming back to Shadow Valley. Great practice areas with sand, chipping, and a separate putting green. Picturesque views of the valley from multiple holes, and some great holes that will make you want to keep coming back. Balls are a solid price for the amount you get as well. Keep it up Shadow Valley, I am very impressed and a fan for life. I am passing the love on to my kids and hope they find enjoyment here as well. Look for the turtles in the pond on the back nine, sometimes you can see as many as 15+ sunbathing. read more

I was very disappointed in this golf course. For the price of the course, the greens were terrible. By far the worst green I played in the area. Also the workers just seemed rushed. The club house wouldn't let us enjoy a hot dog from there clubhouse for a couple of minutes. They said you can't stop. We can't stop for a couple of mins after buying a hotdog from them. Also we had a good pace and we're being rude about it. Sorry if it's takes some time to golf. This place usually is good but recently they have gotten more rude as time has gone on. I really used to like this course but after this experience I don't know if I would recommend this course to others. read more

I had a really good experience at Shadow Valley. I was in town for the weekend visiting a friend that just moved to Eagle ID and I looked up courses close to where I was and Shadow Valley was at the top of the list. I played by myself and was able to walk right on. The greens were in good shape and the course was challenging. The course was very scenic and set up well. For fall golf this course did not disappoint. I hope to play it again next time I'm in Eagle. read more

Specifically called a few days prior to tee time to make sure greens had not been top dressed with sand like a couple courses near me. They gave me a thumbs up and said greens were in great shape. After driving 25 miles to get there for my dad's birthday, after paying full rack rate and we get out there, guess what, greens were top dressed with sand and pebbles everywhere. After nine holes spoke to Bronson who said greens were top dressed just two days ago. I told him how I called ahead specifically and asked about this. Just gave me the I don't know who you talked to, but there not that bad. Gave me a mountain dew, but showed no concern about my complaint. Not only were the greens full of sand and pebbles, but they were pretty damaged from ball ball marks as well. Couldn't find a smooth putt anywhere. Funny thing is, they have a sign up in the bathroom to bring your concerns to them if you have one so they can address it. So I did very calmly and politely and nothing came of it. Even wrote in to the course, and nothing. That was some pretty rotten customer service and rotten playing conditions for that kind of money. Golf carts are old and run down, ours never wanted to go upon pressing the accelerator, kept hesitating and barely putted along. Horrible day. Certainly won't return. Too bad. read more
