You can't always blame the bar for patrons being drugged but how they handle the situation says a lot about a place. Getting defensive and victim blaming shows they have no empathy or respect for their customers. I'm only leaving my review here because they know they are so wrong they turned off Facebook reviews. I won't get into what happened to my group personally because it was traumatic but I will just say that this place lives up to its name. It's SHADY. As a woman I do not feel safe going back and never will. They need better security and they need to take complaints seriously especially in regards to assault, people getting drugged, etc but THEY DONT. They get defensive and victim blame. read more

A great place to visit and/or go out while at the lake! Drinks and food are pretty good and priced appropriately. I love their shot wheel - for $5 spin the wheel and take what ya get! We stop here to eat every year while we are in town. The Brazilian bites is a must. Beef tenderloin on a hot plate is amazing. The French fries suck. We order them just to feed the fish. We enjoy sitting on the lake watching the boats come and go. It's a great pit stop to eat at while on the lake. Skip the foam party at night!!!! It's LAME!!! read more

I made eye contact with at least six people before anyone said anything. Once we did get a server oh, things came out pretty timely. It's one of those multi story , open-air bar/restaurants that are somewhat common in this area. Live music was good. The manager did come by at the end to check on us before we left. My family and I visited this location a couple of summers ago and had a great experience. This year we were so excited to come back and get the Gator Bites (our favorite) again, but it was an awful experience. Everything looked run down, gross, and far from clean. Our Gator Bites were very undercooked and just tasted like chewy fat, completely inedible. We were disappointed as the only reason we came was for that item. Upon letting our waitress know, she just shrugged it off and said that's the way they are supposed to be. All of us have had gator before and it has NEVER tasted this bad, so we knew this was not the case. She didn't offer to have the item remade or take that item off our check or even offer an apology, so we wasted $15 on something we literally couldn't eat. Do not rent a shady gators house. These places are absolute dumps. The house we rented had flies everywhere inside. also the upstairs shower leaked into the basement. on the website is states it has a washer and dryer which did not exist. One outside chair broke because it was completely dry rotted. we did not get $60 of our security deposit because of this. the pictures on the site show a view of the lake but they will put you by the dumpsters with a broken deck in the rear. save your money and a headache and reserve something else. read more

I don't know to rate a three or four. I'm torn between the two. I know they can't control the sun but I felt like we were running from it. No matter where we sat the sun followed. Not there fault, I guess we're just blessed to have the sun want to shine on us all day! What can I say!?! The view was beautiful, the drinks were okay, the food was mediocre but watching the people was the most interesting thing there. Being able to look out into the open waters is so relaxing to me. This place has a great view. If nothing else grab a shady area, just chill out and get lost in the sauce. The expensive, very blah sauce that is. I personally make better drinks with my eyes closed. When it comes to the food I ordered the mushroom burger. Let's see... It was not seasoned, no salt, no taste just beef. Looked amazing but when I have to turn around and add salt, pepper and condiments; I think I should've been paid. We also order crocodile and a chicken dish. So I've heard the crocodile was to die for. However those are not my words become I personally can't eat it. The chicken dish I was told was blah as well along with my burger. Ate here in the middle of our vacation. There is no cool spot to be had - even inside, which made it really uncomfortable. But, food is actually really good. I hate the ménage a trois (gumbo, jambalaya and red beans and rice) and it was amazing. They had Mac and cheese for the kids, so they were happy. read more

Great Food, Great Views, Great Atmosphere all day. Get the Brazilian Sizzle!! Generally Great Bands, but weekend nights are more focused on a college aged crowd after 9. JG keeps the staff working hard and there are lots of docks to park at. This is a resort crowd, so have some patience at prime times on weekends. read more

He was mortified, and said he'll deal w Brett later. Maybe r will, maybe.he won't. It's not ok Brett to tell a customer they have sausage eyes. You did. Nor to throw a receipt at a customer saying they are cut off and you don't want a tip. All that person did was say "sugar free." I hope this was all worth it to you. If I could rate this place ZERO, I would! By far the worst experience. From the food, atmosphere, customer service, and the list continues. Our waitress started out very pleasant & sweet, she even gave suggestions on some of the menu items! I ordered the Chicken Tenders and Ménage Au Trois (which was a suggestion from our lovely waitress), my sister ordered the Cajun Crableg/Shrimp boil, and of course we tried the Chicken Broccoli Alfredo. Though there were other items ordered those items are what caused this experience to go from great to not so great. The Ménage Au Trois, excellent entree for more than one person, however; the quality of the food was poor. The food brought out to us was cold, taste as if it had been made the day before, and very dry. Next entree, the Chicken Tenders, they are HUGE! Which is always a good thing, but they were cooked very hard! It was awful trying to chew them, especially for a child. We then tried the Chicken Broccoli Alfredo, I mean you can't go wrong with Alfredo right? Wrong! The grilled chicken was not fully cooked through, GROSS! The Alfredo sauce was very bland, and again our food was cold! By this time of our meal, my family and I are disappointed, but what really turned this experience upside down was the boil. Our seafood was dry, our melted butter cold, and the sausage, corn, and potatoes were not good. When our waitress came out, I myself began explaining to her the issues we had with the items she became upset, she mentioned bringing her manager out, I agreed and she walked away. She then comes back and tells me, her manager has just left the restaurant and should be returning in 15 minutes, we could wait if needed or she could just remove the items herself, for one that's unprofessional, your manager left and wants customers who are having issues to wait for him to come back? But that's not what really bothered me, it was the waitress comment "my manager, wanted me to let you guys know we sold about 100 crab legs yesterday, and had no problems." No really, that's what she said to paying customers? She walked away and walked into there kitchen, little did they go my husband had been watching the manger the entire time, he was standing in the kitchen doorway, the whole time this incident was taking place. He sent two waitresses out to get the food we did not like, we watched him speak to those waitresses about our food (remind you, he's supposed to be away from the establishment), our waitress then comes back out with the tickets, and guess who comes walking out behind her? THE MANAGER! This just seems like a huge joke at this point, so the comment was made to the waitress "we no longer need your manager assistance, he's been standing in the doorway this whole time." She then responds, "Oh he just got back." Your kidding me right? But instead of him being a manger and still coming to see what may be the issue, or if the issue was resolved effectively, he turns around and walks back into the kitchen. I couldn't even tell you his name, expect the bright red shirt he wore today at work. I'm guessing our waitress didn't like that we noticed the games being played, because she never returned to pick her change or tip up. this place is a popular the party spot. While we were here on a recent Saturday afternoon 400 fraternity kids from KU showed up. We enjoyed lunch on the dock with great views. The food was decent, they are at season end so letting items run out (which makes me nervous that I would be getting meat stuffed in the back of the freezer for months) so I stuck with salad to which I had to pick out a decent amount of slimey pieces. I did sample some of the grouper fingers as well as some of my husband's po boy and both were great. Bathrooms were clean and updated which was a surprise due to the fact that on the walk up the sidewalks were strewn with beer cans, straws and old cups (we were the first one a here on a Saturday so no reason for this). Both this place and the Horny Toad have ruined a quiet community of respectable people who built homes from lifetimes of hard work and achievement. Despite pleas from the community to relocate or otherwise be more hospitable to the destruction caused by rowdy tourists, both restaurants have neglected their fellow man in pursuit of another dollar. Homes that were built on good land at a high price that were gaining value over the years lost much financial ground as soon as idiot-partier types moved in so that they may get closer to the excessive action. Tourists park on the sides of the road, knock over mailboxes, defecate on private property, trespass, intentionally lay on horns/make noise to wake up sleeping households, and otherwise harass anyone who either lives nearby or stands up in protest against debauchery. One of these days, I would not be surprised it the nearby residents take up arms and start a lynch mob to reclaim their lives from the assholes who value profit over goodwill and basic etiquette. read more

Holy people-watching. You will not find a better spot at the lake to watch drunk freshman vomiting off a balcony, old people thinking they are 21 again, girls crying at bar close with heels in their hands, or yolked juice heads brawling. Seriously, forget any nightclub, 1:15am outside of Shady's is the best entertainment you will find in the Ozarks or any surrounding area. During the day it is an average Lake of the Ozarks bar. Not great food by any means, intattentive service, expensive drinks, great view, live music, pretty fun time.. When the sun goes down, expect to either have one of the best times or worst times of your life lol. If you go to Shady's sober, I imagine it to be the latter. The line is so long outside, usually 1-in-1-out. You can also witness a lot of action while waiting in this line, so you don't have to wait until bar close to watch the train wreck. If you get in, expect a 45 minute wait AT THE BAR to get a drink. They will be packed. These drinks will also be expensive. My boat is parked next door at the Toad so I just go drink there and come back, smart. PREGAME! that is rly the only advice I can give you going into this. That being said, everyone there will be so intoxicated. This always makes for an interesting night. Best Case: you can meet some really fun people and usually a hot "dancing partner" if youre going out looking to get some. Worst case: you get hit in the face with a beer bottle like I did. Some blacked out chick thought I was looking at the back of her boyfriends head while waiting in line for a drink. (while I was standing next to my boyfriend). No words were exchanged besides her screaming at me as the bouncers escorted her out.
