I honestly felt like I hit the lottery! Corey is not only skilled but also incredibly kind and compassionate. It's rare to find such a perfect blend of professionalism and genuine care, and I'm so grateful to have found her at Matiz Salon. I'm a natural auburn redhead and so I appreciated her. Still keeping my natural color but adding some blonde to it. That is not an easy task. KRESA is amazing at what she does. She made me feel so good after my appointment. To this day, I have not found anyone that can cut and color my hair like her. It's funny because when I first went to the salon in Ventura, it was because I was housesitting for my parents and since I live in a small mountain town I rarely get my hair done and I thought while I was there, I could do it. I'd gone to "premium" salons, chasing consistency, and still got hit with hidden bowl fees, plus stylists who somehow never kept my color in stock, even when I booked months ahead. I get fantasy color and have been trying to grow my hair out, which never went well either, since every stylist insisted on cutting off way more than I wanted. When I moved to Ventura, I reached out to several stylists, and most either never responded or took over a week to get back to me. Daisy was the only one who was prompt, so I booked with her, and I'm so glad I did! She's one of the most professional and talented stylists I've ever worked with. My hair has grown out about six inches while she's carefully maintained my ends, and even with root bleach and fantasy color layered on top, it's never felt healthier. She's also incredible with cuts. My natural waves have never laid this well. On top of the skill, Daisy is warm, genuine, and just a joy to be around! I was very clear with the receptionist about what I needed when I scheduled the appointment. I arrived a few minutes early and was told Emma was running half an hour late. When she finally came to fetch me she asked me what she could do for me. I told her. She said, "I don't cut short hair. My specialty is long hair." What kind of stylist can't cut short hair? She agreed to color it and tried to book me for the following week for a trim - with another stylist. I don't want to wait another week for a trim! The color she put on my hair was so dark it's almost black and does not match the color I already had. Guess I will have to start all over again from scratch. It's so very, very upsetting and disappointing.

The bowl to wash your hair is not that great compared to other salons I've been to since the water slips through your back. The restroom isn't wheelchair accessible due to a couple of small steps. A foldable/portable wheelchair ramp could make the space more inclusive for people with mobility needs. This can be placed on the side on a as needed basis. Overall, I liked this place though! They were beautiful and seemed sturdy. I was happy to pay the price with how gorgeous they were. By day 6, two nails had broken off. Not blunt breaks but a clean peel off of the glue. Since then, not even a month later, I have 3 nails left (I keep gluing them back on myself because it was so expensive and I wasn't really planning to get my nails done again so soon). To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Every time I have got Gel X they have lasted 6-8 weeks. For this price and time invested, this should not have happened. I've been on leave from work and resting mostly so I have not been rough with my nails AT ALL. These nails were cured several times so I do not know what the issue is. This salon was recommended to me by someone who has used them before and swore by their work. I'm not sure if it's the materials or technique but buyer beware. Gel X is not the strong suit here.

It's beautiful inside, everyone I met was super nice, and it felt so much more welcoming than other salons I've visited in the past. I've been dealing with some crazy post partum regrowth and recovering from some DIY damage to my hair. Sindy did a great job correcting my color and gave me literally the best hair cut I've ever had. She was super thorough and she made sure every little detail was perfect since it was my first time getting a shag cut.
