    Kofta Kabab over Rice

Takeout from Shah's was delicious. I was not expecting the hot sauce in the kofta kebab to be as spicy as it was but it was sooo good and flavorful. The rice was excellent too and everything traveled well which was great. I will definitely order from them again!

They're open super late which is awesome for a late night snack/meal. Got home late after a football game and was really hungry so ordered with a friend. They have online ordering which is super quick and easy and the food was ready sooner than expected and they sent a message to let me know. The food was pretty good too the only issue was that they didn't label the two platters at all. My friend and I ordered the same platters but with different sauces and there was no indication of which was which and they looked pretty identical.

I ordered two gyros without onion. Then also ordered falafels and I did not get any falafels and everything had red onion in it. . I did this on door dash which is not the dashers fault. This restaurant ruined all my order and food

I ordered the combo over rice (lamb and chicken) with white sauce, and it was pretty delicious. This combo exceeded my expectations! It was fun to eat and very filling too. The fries were fresh and a great accompaniment! I can see why there are so many good reviews... my food was bomb! I look forward to trying out different menu items next time. Thankis Shahs Halah

I thought this spot was quite good and satisfying! There aren't a ton of halal places in Pittsburgh, so it's great to have a spot like this. I know this place is technically a chain, but it's not a huge one, and I still was craving some halal food. I've heard great things about the food. I decided to try their signature chicken over rice with the white sauce, as well as BBQ and hot sauce on the side. This meal was absolutely delicious. The portion was quite good, and the price was reasonable as well. The chicken itself was tender and flavorful. It wasn't too spicy, which I also appreciated. There are options to get a ton of vegetables, but I decided to stick with the classic chicken and rice. The rice itself was well cooked, too. I truly loved their white sauce, which was a little creamy. The BBQ and hot sauce were kind of ordinary and not the best. All in all, I really enjoyed this spot. The meat was tasty, the rice was well made, and the sauces were great. It's awesome to have a halal spot near the area.

I love dinning at Shah Halal! Their food is so good and the service and amazing. Everyone is so nice and you get your food very quick. I love how their meat is halal and very flavorful. Shah halal has been my go to especially when I had my crazy pregnancy cravings since they are open till 3am.

They're opened really late which is nice, it's very straightforward as far as the taste, I just wished the white sauce was more dill and cucumber tasting. The pita was also very good.

Cheap, tasty and good service. I picked up a lamb platter, a combo platter and french fries. Yummy!! They didn't cost more than $23. The staff were nice and generous with the sauces. I just wish they had both white rice for a change and not just brown. But their brown rice is still good. They also let you pick whatever veggies you want (see pictures). Issues: Their falafel is not good to be honest. The service changes sometimes depending on the people and that is why I'm giving four. Parking: It's hard to park in that area. I might go back again because it's cheap and the people are nice.

Best food in Oakland. Had the combo chicken and lamb with rice. The white sauce and green sauce is so good. Get the hot sauce.

    Chicken gyro?? No...
    Jessie S.

I don't understand why this place has good ratings on help. To call what I ordered a 'gyro', albeit I realize what I ordered was a chicken gyro, is a joke. It was a chicken shawarma at best, and not a good one at that. I've had lots of shawarmas from different places including Lebanese, Turkish, Syrian, Iranian, Israeli, and I don't know what that was they served me... 'Gyros' don't have cumin in the marinade, and should come with tzatziki, not whatever is in that packet labeled 'White Sauce'. The default options for toppings were lettuce and 'salad', which would be okay, but all I got was bright red, overcooked and spicy (?) chicken, dry white meat, with no veg whatsoever beyond the onion cooked with the chicken. Not a gyro, not a shawarma, just a big disappointment

This is suppose to be lamb over rice with salad. Look how big the cucumber and tomatoes are cut. It didn't taste fresh in addition to this.

The roasted red pepper dip (ezme) was great. Nice roasted red pepper flavor, with some pomegranate sweetness. The stuffed flatbread (gozleme) was really exceptional, with the tomato and pickle accompaniment really adding an additional layer. The hummus bowl and rice bowl options were good. Nice combination of textures and flavors. The pita was phenomenal. It really felt like some love was put into preparing it. All told, this was a nice destination. The space is tiny and unassuming, and the restaurant seems to be a family run operation. The interior is much more nicely kept than you might guess based on the outside of the building. The staff were very friendly, and all of our food was well packaged. I strongly suggest taking a look at the "Persian Cuisine" section of the menu; in many cases, that section is more interesting than the Turkish grill. In terms of food, things ranged from excellent to pretty good. The hummus was good and nicely textured, but not exceptional. The kashke ve bademjan was excellent, particularly when paired with the nicely toasted flatbread it arrived with. The Mediterranean salad and Tabouli salad were both nicely done, with a nice level of lemon acidity and some shredded cheese on the side. The veggie kebap was fine, but generally flat in flavor: it really needed some of the sides and some hot sauce to fill things out. The red lentil soup was simple with a subtle spicing but ultimately deeply flavorful. The ash reshteh (noodle soup with beans and spinach) was generally good but would have benefited from toppings that would have probably been provided in a dine-in environment. All told, this was a nice little establishment with some excellent Mediterranean and Persian style cuisine. They seem to churn out some high quality food from what seems like a very small kitchen. I could imagine eating in or ordering takeout, but note that the interior space is fairly small with a limited capacity.

Their website says, "It's not just food, it's hospitality." Unfortunately, the hospitality was missing during our visit. We were greeted with more of a "what do you want?" attitude than a warm welcome. The menu is fairly brief, but it took us a minute to decide what each of us wanted so we could try a few different things. There was no one behind us waiting, so a little patience and grace would have gone a long way. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma & Hummus Bowl, and my husband got the Falafel & Rice Bowl. Both were fresh and nicely prepared, but we felt they were lacking in flavor. Unfortunately, the food seemed to have about as much personality as the service. That said, I've heard a lot of great things about Pita My Shawarma from friends, so I'm not writing them off just yet. Maybe it was simply a late-night Saturday visit and we caught them at the wrong time. I'll give them another shot....perhaps during lunch or a little farther away from closing time. Fresh food, but our first experience was underwhelming.....both in flavor and hospitality.
