I was walking Larchmont, and passed this bakery. I was attracted to its compact and cute storefront and its all-shade-of-pinks vibe. As soon as I entered I felt engulfed by a cotton candy promise that felt like I had don an Elle Wood's ensemble. However, this feeling was momentary, it lasted a few pink seconds, it was not a feeling that left me colored pink. First, the shop was small. In order for me to be swirled in pink for days on end, I need to feel like I can twirl in a spot. I did not feel like I could twirl, so I could not summon the pink winds that would become lush magical upward pink waves that would change my tattered clothing into a pink ensemble fit for standing in the sombre black of the supreme court. Additionally, the pink motif was obvious and darling, undeniable really, but when one stops and views the parts of the whole, one realizes that the parts are a collection of pink and girly items that do not connect in cohesion, but rather are force-strung by pink ambition. Like imagine a found material necklace that speaks of the junkyard where its pieces came from, instead of the pieces speaking of the better and glamorous days they once did see. However, amongst the sea of pink recyclables I did see a Britney Spear's Monopoly board. Did it have an oops I did it again blvd for purchase? So I guess that I might have found the decor a bit of pink-puke but someone else might see it as pink-glitter galore. As we all know, one person's trash can be another's person's treasure. I was just giving my opinion, for what is worth. I am sure the pink panther would understand. Another item that I appreciated a lot was the fact that they had ginger bread cookies shaped as people. And we have developed societal understanding of gender inclusivity, and thus some believe that it is no longer appropriate to say gingerbread man, and instead say ginger bread person. But this bakery cut through the inclusivity debate and called their gingerbread people cookies, gingerbread friends. Boom--- a friend by definition has no gender, and these cookies reflect this notion. This might be a throwaway to some but for me it was a reminder of how the world should work, do not see people by who they are, but see them as friends and then learn how they are. As I was preparing to write this review, I learned that this bakery was a transplant from New York City and their confections and goods were meant to be Vegan, Lactose-free, and basically, just free of what makes baked goods good, and I guess bad. To be honest, I only bought a cookie for a kid, (a human kid, not a goat) and did not inquire how he enjoyed it. But I am thinking if the cookie was truly vegan and lactose-free than he would have longed for what he knows a cookie should taste like. I also saw, ding dong cupcakes that reminded me of the one's that Sprinkles sells. I also saw that they have chess games on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. so that might be an experience I one day show up for. So this place does have a lot going for it, but it seems to me, more like a tourist stop to gawk in, and not a shop to indulge in. I may be wrong, I often am, I guess I am trying to give a balanced account of my experience, and do not want to turn the place's pink promise into a pink dread for anyone. Plus, if anyone needs a pink buret in a clutch, this place has some for sale. So they have that going for them.

Unfortunately, the only positive part of this bakery is the aesthetic, but no amount of pretty pictures can undo all the bad of this shop. As a gluten-free, dairy-free girl, I was so excited to finally try this NYC transplant shop. Upon walking-in I had a moment of hope because it smelt divine, but that is where the positives began and ended. The customer service was apathetic at best. The pastry case where all the baked goods were looked humid and dirty, which should have been reason enough to leave empty-handed, but we ordered anyways. We got a cinnamon roll, a brownie bite, and a mini vanilla cake. All together it came out to be $28.95, which is pretty dang high for what we received. We tried the brownie bite first. It was tolerable and the cocoa flavor was forgiving, but it was definitely not fresh and was simply edible. The cinnamon roll was a bit more fresh and flavorful. However, I wouldn't call it a cinnamon roll. It was more like a dense cinnamon cake. The mini vanilla cake was the biggest joke of my life. It looked so cute, but it was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like it was days old. It had no flavor and just had an awful grainy texture that crumbled apart everywhere. The frosting was rock hard and tasted like nothing but pure sugar. Personal preference aside, the cake shouldn't have been sold or served to customers period. I was beyond disappointed in my experience here. This is not a bakery I would return to or recommend.

Love this place. Not only are the cakes, cupcakes & cookies are so unique and cute. They taste absolutely delicious. Everyone was really sweet. I will definitely come back to buy more treats. My favorite was the powdered blueberry donut.

    Maple Donut

Stopped in for a quick bite as we were waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant to open up. We tried the Maple Donut and it was pretty tasty. Soft with a generous maple glaze.

    Strawberry matcha

The $8.5 strawberry matcha wasn't even whisked. They got me slurping up straight matcha powder it was genuinely nasty. Also you can not taste the minimal strawberry sauce they put in. We also got a cinnamon roll ($11) and strawberry shortcake ($14) which was as unfortunate tasting as the baristas attitude. Cinnamon roll was unbelievably dense and strawberry shortcake tasted like artificial jam.

My go to spot when I want a vegan, gluten free dessert. I'm not strictly vegan anymore but still come often. They always have a variety of treats. Love experiencing the Larchmont energy whenever I visit on the weekend.

    Black and White Cookie

Obsessed with this lovely vegan, allergen free bakery and every time I'm in the Larchmont area, this is a must visit! They have quite the selection of baked goods and while it is on the pricey side, it's an indulgent treat that's well worth the cost! I came here to get one of my favorite items, which is the black and white cookie. I love the soft, crumbly texture and the decadent creamy frosting. It had just the right amount of sweetness to allow me to eat the entire cookie in one sitting without feeling gross after. They have a cute little seating area right outside the store to enjoy your treat. The service was also great and very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back soon for more treats!

Cute vegan bakery conveniently located in the center of Larchmont! Everything was delicious but a little dry. The person behind the counter was super sweet and knowledgeable about all the options. They don't have a public restroom. There's barely any seating and this is more of a grab and go place.

Amazing!!! I recently had to give up gluten. It's been the best thing for me. Finding this place has been super great when wanting that something sweet. If you don't know... then figure it out! Because you won't be disappointed. This place is amazing and they go the extra mile to make it a perfect experience for everyone!

Half of the Vanilla Cupcake & Half of the Carrot Cupcake
    Bubblegum D.

I bought two cupcakes today from this place. I had half of each cupcake. The vanilla cupcake was too dry. It was too cold , like sitting inside the fridge cold. The carrot cupcake was really cold as well. I had to microwave both of them for like 10 seconds to room temperature. And the icing on both cupcakes is too sweet. I enjoyed the carrot cupcake more than the vanilla cupcake. However the cupcakes did look cute so i'll give them that. (: But are they worth $ 9 . 80 each? No. I'd say probably $4 - $5 At Most for the quality & flavor.. Overall i'd rate 3/5 , Would i buy again? most likely Not. Would i recommend? Sure , Hopefully the other desserts this place offers are better , more yummy & warmer. (:

    Coffee Crunch Donut

I first tried Erin McKenna's Bakery years ago when it was called Babycakes. Everything is vegan, gluten free, and soy free. Since they use coconuts, it's not considered nut free because the FDA categorizes coconuts as tree nuts. I recently stopped by for my husband who has a sweet tooth. However, he can't indulge like he used to after he found out he has some food allergies. I remember that I used to order the Coffee Crunch Donut (3.5 stars). The texture of the donut is more like a moist muffin rather than the more familiar texture of a cake or yeast donut. The coffee flavor is just right with a yummy crunchy topping. However, it was a little too sweet for me that I only need a few bites to satisfy my dessert craving. We also tried the Maple Donut (2 stars) and Samoa Donut (3.5 stars), which had good coconut flavor. My husband loved and devoured the donuts. The frosting on the Brownie Chocolate Cupcake (2 stars) was too sweet even for my husband after one tiny bite. The texture and flavor of the chocolate cake was good, but I've had better vegan gluten free chocolate cupcakes. The slice of the Double Chocolate Crumble Cake (4 stars) was more moist. It was a chocolaty decadent delight, and it was my husband's favorite item. The space is small. It started to feel even smaller once there were five other customers in the bakery trying to get a glimpse of the display case. The service was 3 stars. The staff isn't very friendly every time I've been here. They just take and fill your order. I'm intrigued to try other items. Overall, it's a 3.5 stars place, and I'm rounding up to 4 stars because my husband is happy that there is a bakery in which the whole menu is safe for him eat.

Lovely little shop with welcoming decorations located on Larchmont Blvd. Pros: This entire shop gluten-free, nut-free facility, and vegan. (Though they work with coconut) So many options for several dietary restrictions and worth a for a sweet fix. Fun: They have mystery boxes for $16! If you're with a some friends and want to share a bunch of sweets and chat, this is a cute place to stop by. Cons: The desserts were pretty bland and dry. It's almost like they weren't sweet and also grainy. I realize that vegan and gluten-free desserts can be on the drier side but definitely not worth the price point in my opinion. Also, did not love the vibes of the girls serving us as we had questions and did not feel welcome though nobody was in late Sunday.

I won't be ordering this dish again. I took half home, cut up the soybean fish and added it to a stew. I didn't mention to my server that it was my bday, but was disappointed that he didn't even offer like regular servers do, "Would you like to see the dessert menu?" I didn't tell him it was my bday nor did I ask for the dessert menu bc I wasn't the one paying the bill. Not that I needed dessert, but it would've been nice to have been asked. When I mentioned this to another server who came by to clear our table that our server didn't even ask if we wanted dessert and that the restaurant doesn't seem to want to push its desserts, he quickly brought us a dessert menu, but my friend was already paying our bill - too late! It would've been nice to be asked earlier. I even had candles in my bag just in case we got dessert. Anyway, this server said he'll tell our server about not offering dessert. The next day I came back with another friend after a Music Center event. My server from the day before recognized me. This time he asked us at the start before we ordered or after we had just ordered whether we'd like to see the dessert menu. Huh? Ask at the END not start of a meal! Instead of embarrassing him, I told him, "No, thanks. My bday was yesterday." On this second day, my friend and I shared a Chinoise salad (delicious and refreshing!) and paella (not like a paella, a little too wet and granular for our taste, but healthy - a living food dish). We had mint and lemon water for both meals. $12 parking in the adjacent structure. Free parking passes at the Music Center if you're a season ticket holder or good luck with finding street parking. I'd still continue to occasionally patronize this restaurant when I have Music Center events bc I want to support veganism, the restaurant; however, I was disappointed with some of the food and waitstaff this weekend. I'd suggest that the waitstaff go thru customer training on when/what/how to talk to customers. We actually found the restaurant after looking on the app InKind (highly recommend btw!), specifically for places with vegan food. They have a parking lot on the side of the building. Not many spaces but grateful for the option! They have seating outside and inside, and I guess inside is both "restaurant" or "dining room." Not sure the difference, but we sat at a table close to the window which was nice. The inside decor is really cute. Beautiful string lights, cookware on the walls, and there was even an old movie playing on a projector. It felt pretty authentic and adorable. Servers were very attentive. We had Adi and he was really sweet. We were brought water right away. And they serve fresh vegan focaccia bread with a DELICIOUS pesto sauce before your meal. Honestly, that pesto is something I want to take home and drink. So good. We decided to both order from the vegan menu. When else can you get fresh vegan Italian?! We got their version of vegan carpaccio as an appetizer. Which was oddly turkey based? (Vegan of course). But truly one of the most unexpectedly yummy things I've had in awhile. The mayo type sauce on it was delicious. The lettuce and capers were a great touch. And it had some sort of mustard stuffed olives that I could eat forever. My fiancé got the lasagna as a main. And I got the pesto spaghetti. Ironically I ended up liking the lasagna more and he liked the spaghetti so we swapped haha. Both were delicious. As someone who isn't vegan and loves meat and cheese, I can confidently say that lasagna was one of the best I've had in so long. At the end they treated him to a delicious small vegan ganache cake and a birthday candle. It was simple and appreciated. The only negatives I have is that the wine was pretty pricey for the bottles they had. And even though I requested a booth (they had several open), and mentioned the birthday in the reservation, I had to repeatedly mention the birthday, and we got seated at a table. Little things, but still something I wish was different. Overall will definitely go back though!

The Italian dishes taste completely authentic--exactly like the meals I've had while traveling in Italy. As a major bonus, their vegan options are absolutely PHENOMENAL. They have an extensive selection that doesn't feel like an afterthought at all. It is on the pricier side, but for the quality of the food and the overall experience, it is 100% worth the price tag. I am most certainly going back again. A must-visit spot in Los Feliz!

We had the crispy rice, nachos with beef added on top, and the vodka pizza which is one of my favorite vegan pizzas to date. Overall, 10/10, will definitely be back!!

The chicken stays crispy for a long time and reheats nicely as leftovers. Everything we've ordered is really good and crave-worthy. We got the lucky catsu, curry catsu, crispy shrimp, spam masubi, catsu masubi, orange chicken, crispy chicken. Top two favorites are lucky and curry catsu. Small things I'd personally wish to change is that the onion is too strong in the macaroni salad. Wish it wasn't in there period. And the rice is a little on the dryer side and it sticks to the container- so when you scrape up the last bits of rice, you could be eating the paper from the container. I like that they use compostable containers though!! But yeah the rice is on the harder side especially as leftovers. But whatever, their main items are bomb and makes me not care about anything else. Service is quick! Note: it is not a sit down restaurant. You order (ahead) and park on the street and call them to let them know you're outside. They'll bring the food out. Reception isn't great outside fyi. I've been here 3 times and never last long enough to get a photo before digging in. There are two other vegan restaurants right next to it, same concept - order and pick up. Great for different options if one is craving Mexican from Cena or hot dogs from All franks.

You could tell he really cared about making people have a good experience. The food and coffee were amazing, super flavorful and satisfying without feeling too heavy. It ended up being one of our favorite stops during our trip. Huge thank you to everyone there for making our day so special.

Everything was spotless, calm, and full of genuinely lovely people. The service was so warm I briefly considered asking if I could move in. I ordered a latte, the Caesar tempeh wrap, and a bowl -- and somehow every single bite tasted like it had been blessed by woodland fairies with culinary degrees. Flavor? Absolutely out of this world. But the BEST part? The names of the dishes. "I Am Well," "I Am Grateful," "I Am Light"... and when your server brings your food they lovingly announce: "You are well." Honestly, being affirmed by a stranger while handed organic vegan food healed at least 37% of my problems. I came for lunch and accidentally left spiritually moisturized. If you want delicious fully vegan organic food, positive vibes, and the experience of being gently complimented by your salad, this place is IT.

I've only been to one other vegan butcher shop in my life (Las Vegas) and I did not like it one bit, but I am really glad I decided to give this place a shot. I'm a sucker for chicken parm sandwiches so when I saw that on the menu I knew it was the best bet to fill me up and make me happy. I ended up ordering that as well as some french fries on the side and it was a decision that I would absolutely not regret. My friend and I drove to pick the food up and by the time we got back, the food was still pretty hot and ready to eat. The chicken parm sandwich itself was hands down one of the best chicken parm sandwiches I have ever had, vegan or not vegan. The "chicken" inside tasted so good, so shoutout to the breading, cheese, and sauce mixed in because this thing was absolutely fantastic. The french fries on the side were very good as well, nothing to really talk about regarding them, but good fries are good fries. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Maciel's Plant-Based Butcher Shop and can't wait to come back again. The food here was so dang good and even though it took me a few weeks to write this review, it's making me want to go back ASAP. Come check this place out yourself!

My dining companions loved their sandwiches as well. Business is booming; we visited for a weekday lunch and orders were flying out the door. It's that delicious! Casual indoor/outdoor dining. Small parking lot and street parking available.
