There seems to be an ongoing conversation amongst my friends regarding who has the best burger out of all the quick dining restaurants across the country. Shake Shake, Five Guys, In N Out, Elevation Burger, Habit, SmashBurger are always part of the conversation. I've tried them all but I wanted to give Shake Shack another try because it had been many years since I indulged. I got a classic double with shake sauce on the side. Side of cheese fries, sauce on the side. Also got an oreo milkshake. The burger was decent. A bit oily, not as much flavor as I had expected. Seasoning the meat a little bit would go a long way. Not a top contender for me in the burger game The fries themselves were decent, they were hot and fresh. The cheese sauce, however, was essentially flavorless. The highlight of the whole meal was the Oreo milk shake. Super creamy, tons of Oreo, a very very good shake. My main qualm with this location was not the food, it was the staff and lack of cleanliness. The employee taking orders was an emotionless robot. I get it, it's hard to act super enthusiastic when you work the counter at a fast food joint but part of your job is to be somewhat inviting. A front of the house employee shouldn't be so cold as to make the customer feel like the employee doesn't want to be there and they could care less that the customer is in their business. Regarding sanitary conditions, I posted a photo of the kitchen. It was an absolute mess. It's a little odd to leave the kitchen in such a disastrous condition considering every customer can see into the kitchen when ordering or seated. Open boxes everywhere, open bags of all the ingredients spread out on counters and on the floor, trash and food spilled on the ground. The dining room wasn't much better. Every table was dirty and I had to clean one myself in order to sit down and eat. While seated a employee walked around the dining room and just pushed crumbs and trash off the tables onto the ground and didn't sweep them up. I was at Shake Shake for about 45 minutes and no one came around to sweep, it's important to note that they were not busy at the time. There were probably 2-3 other tables dining at the time. Someone needs to intervene and get this staff trained up because I won't go back based on the last visit. read more

Got a burger and fries, first time customer. The burger isn't as good as five guys but it's better than elevation burger. The fries are a solid 4/5. My issue is that you can't customize your order easily at all. There is nowhere that lists potential toppings for the concretes (ice cream) or for the burgers. You have to look at their many different pre-designed options and try to figure it out from there. It's annoying. Fuddruckers you just put it on yourself, five guys you get a list to choose from, etc. just super inconvenient. I think it's odd that they have a grill but refuses to grill onions for your burger. Standard Shake Shack fare. Food made to order as it should be. Couple burgers, one drink regular fries and cheese bacon fries. Rounded out to just under $30. Probably could get more food at another sit down restaurant, would it be better than this? Up to you to decide. Staff is polite and lines quickly moves to fill orders. Listen - I love Shake Shack. I love the potato roll, the smashburger style patties, the crinkle fries, the custard, all of it. On food alone, this place would get 5 stars. HOWEVER - and this might be because it's new - this location is not well managed. The line is out the door even at non-peak hours, the wait to order is forever, the wait to get food takes ages. This would all be totally understandable at a sit down place but not at fast casual. The Shake Shack at Tysons is smaller than this and moves faster. The Shake Shacks in DC all moves quicker than this too. I'm sure that in a few months they will work out the kinks with staffing but it shouldn't have taken me 35 minutes to get food. Appalling. Shameful. Infuriating. These are some of the nicer words I have to say about this location. I waited a few weeks for the lines to die down and so I could hopefully have a nice meal without having to go to Virginia or D.C. This spot has literally made me do the one thing I've never done at a restaurant. I asked for a refund before getting my food, walked out angry, and I'll never be back. I ordered a chicken shack burger and a side of cheese and bacon fries to go. I was given a pager and proceeded to wait on the other side. What's this? My pager is going off a moment after I walked over.. wow! It's ready! Awesome!? Wait..... Why are other people here angry? Wait.. I see a line of fries and burgers on the rack and one person bagging and another calling names. I waited 15 minutes. Even watching other people that just ordered get shakes, cheese and bacon fries, etc. the guy next to me was saying this place was horrible after I told him my buzzer went off ten minutes ago as he was asking where his food was. A lady walked up and I hear "we don't go by the number order." While I asked 'hey, my pager went off a while ago' and I get a "we're kinda backed up". Whilst another guy walked up saying "I just got the text from the app my food is done".. then the one bagging got in his face to say "YEAH! That's because it JUST hit our system." Wait... Wait.. wtf.. you mean, the pager and the text on your app telling us the food is done is actually just to let us know the food appears on the screen for you to bag? No... So much is wrong with this place. But it's an absolute disgrace to the shake shack name. Not to mention the burgers I saw looked incredibly sogey. Will absolutely not be back here. This was an interesting experience tonight. We only had one family ahead of us when we placed our order but still waited over 20 minutes for our order. It seems as though they put precedent on mobile orders as we saw many people pick up in between our order and the family ahead of us, who actually had finished eating and left by the time we got our order. Additionally, almost every order was incorrect somehow that we saw get picked up. Our own was missing a Chicago dog at first. We also witnessed a very loud argument between an employee and customer which ended with the employee yelling at the customer. I couldn't wait to try out the Shake Shack because I had heard so much good about it. I know that the lines are always thick at the one in Baltimore. I've never had an opportunity to eat there, so I finally decided to give it a try. To be perfectly honest, I was pretty disappointed. I ordered a double Shack Burger and a Coffee Milkshake which, by the way, cost me close to $20! It wouldn't cost me that much for a cheeseburger and a milkshake if I went to the ballpark! Unbelievable! While they we're pretty busy, it's still took over 20 minutes to complete my order. For just one cheeseburger and a milkshake. I also think they made the milkshake at the beginning of the order, because by the time I got my order the shake was pretty melted. The cheeseburger looked very good when I unwrapped it. But after I bit into it, I saw that it was not cooked all the way. This is pretty disappointing especially for a place that had over 20 minutes to cook my hamburger. nothing grosses me out more than under cooked hamburger. I think it's dangerous, and I don't like it at all. I don't think I'll be back to this Shake Shack again. The one in Baltimore probably has it down to a science for as long as they've been there and as busy as they always are. This one at Cabin John Shopping Center needs some serious work. We ordered through Uber eats! Delivered on time. 2 items were missing from the order. When contacted the restaurant, manager said the order he received from Uber is correct but it's their mistake not to pack the items. But there is nothing he can do about it! I've been to many Shake Shack's. Tonight, I was excited to try out their newest location, which is the closest to my home. I normally love their Chicken Shack because it is a big, crispy and juicy chicken breast! Unfortunately, this location did not deliver. The size of the chicken was a size of a chicken tender rather than a chicken breast. To make matters worse, the chicken was hard and dry. If I hadnt picked it up and brought it home, I would have taken it back to the counter. Why would they think its ok to put that into a sandwich and sell it? read more

Unbelievably slow. Slow slow slow. Been here twice and will never come back. Was excited about a new food joint in the area. What a let down! Food is only ok and it's expensive. A mushroom burger is $12.00. No meat just mushrooms. Just counted 15 people in line and one register open. There are two registers closed. There are two manager types having a meeting at a booth by the pickup windows on their laptops and cell phones. Looks like a business meeting. Not helping out. So that's a little frustrating seeing that and a lot of sitting around while I wait for my shake and fries. Fry and shake portions are small in addition to being pricy. Also they use very narrow straws. For milkshakes it's pretty standard to use normal or larger diameter straws for shakes. Small things like that make me think they just didn't put together the concept very well; much like the restaurant logistics. Now it's been about 15 minutes and just asked about my order. The response, "it's still on the board and being made." Since this location opened they have had issues taking orders and making food. I seriously do not understand why they cannot get it together. Not sure why there is so much hate. The staff at this Shake Shack are always extremely helpful and attentive. They have handled the COVID situation extremely well. We have been roughly 15 times and each time the managers have come to check on us and are quick to make sure we get everything we need. Food wise, you know what you are getting. We don't eat burgers so I can't comment on those but the fried chicken sandwiches are great -- definitely a step up from any of the other chains' fried chicken. Love the herb mayo that comes on them so much that we usually get an extra few sides to dip our fries. Keep up the good work! read more

My boyfriend and I are thoroughly disappointed with our first Shake Shack experience. We drove about 15 minutes to get there, make our order for two milkshakes, and patiently wait for our order. I'm not sure what was going on, but it was very crowded on this particular Sunday evening and the waiting area was overwhelming. After waiting for about 15 minutes for our milkshakes, my boyfriend went up to a staff member to ask where our order was and they said "it was either never made or someone took it." First of all, waiting 15 minutes for a milkshake is unacceptable. They took another several minutes to make our order...many other orders came out before ours that had ordered after us. I believe our order should have been the highest priority, as we had been waiting the longest at this point. When we finally got our shakes, they were good, but were they worth a 25-minute wait? No...We do not plan to return to Shake Shack again. read more

This place was busy. There was a line outside, and then a line inside, which took about 20 minutes to get to the counter. But once I ordered my food, it took them 10 minutes to prepare and pack my food. I highly suggest waiting a few weeks for the crowd to calm down. Overall, the single ShackBurger and SmokeShack was okay, nothing special. But, the crinkle-fries and cheese was awesome. I highly suggest getting the fries and cheese. read more

I've had a great experience every time I come here regardless of dining in or taking out! I only ate Shake Shack when I was in D.C so I was stoked when they opened one up around my home! This place is my go-to post hike meal! I really do enjoy the shroom burger!
