People, from all over have been talking about Shake Shack and I have been stalking our local shopping center for its new restaurant location to open. Today, my efforts paid off, as I drove through the shopping center,the doors of Shake Shack opened and people were eating there. They are located in Cabin John Shopping Center. It is reasonably priced. I got a double cheeseburger and fries for about $12.00. The burger was good, but I was not a fan of the cheese. It was the kind of cheese that melts like cheese whiz. I asked for lettuce, tomato, and pickle. You have to ask for the extras when you order. There are separate counters to order and to pick up your food. They give you a buzzer when you pay for your food and you have to wait for the buzzer to buzz, so you can pick your order up. The people attending the counters were pleasant and friendly. They also have a mushroom burger, no meat, for our vegetarian friends. The fries were excellent! You can also get cheese fries or bacon and cheese fries. I will definitely try one of them on my next trip. I ran into a Yelper friend- Abigail! She said the shakes were delicious! Again, definitely on my next trip! When Friday night rolls around, we feel like we want shake shack burger. The Shake burger is always excellent. The fries are top notch. The black and white shake is really good. The shroom burger is a big surprise and tastes a lot better than expected. I would give it five stars if they offer the option to take the cheese out...... additionally, be aware that the size of burger is a bit small...... good for portion control though. So first of all I've never been to shake Shack and it was on my list of places to try and I passed one finally!!! So upon walking in I was greeted with a smile and the young lady was very helpful and polite, because it took me a few minutes to checkout the menu. So I went with the Shake Shack burger and fries with a Cookies and Cream Shake, I figure I couldn't go wrong with that and Lady's and Gentlemen I didn't. Burger was absolutely delicious fries nice and crispy and the Shake wasn't too thick. Customer service was fantastic, the manager Mike came around and made sure everything was to our liking and everyone was just extremely nice. I love that this Shake Shack location opened in Potomac! This location also has tons of parking available versus most DC locations. I came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch with a friend, it was relatively packed inside since it was too cold for outdoor seating. I believe this would be a great Shake Shack to visit in the summer time, there is plenty of seating outside :) I ordered my usual Shack Stack with a side of fries.... delicious as other locations! I am so happy that another location has opened closer to me. I will definitely be at this location often, especially as the weather gets warmer. Staff here are friendly and polite, food came out quickly... zero complaints from me! Good location of Shake Shack. Food is good as other locations. We like the burgers, hot dogs, and shakes!! Takeout can take forever tho, specially during COVID times. There is always a long line of folks waiting for their pickup and I have had to wait over 30 minutes for my food. But you can tell that the staff is working hard to get the food ready ASAP so I appreciate that effort. The good food makes up for the long wait :) read more

I'm not new to Shake Shack but I am a newbie to this location. It's located in Cabin John Shopping Center and it's smaller than most of the Shake Shacks I've been to but has outdoor seating which is helpful. I usually order the Shack Burger but I wanted to try something different in hopes that their Chik'n bites were close to tasting as Chick-fil-A's nuggets...wrong. The bites were extremely salty even the honey mustard sauce didn't help the saltiness. The batter was probably drenched with salt but I just couldn't eat it. One of the staff was nice enough to switch my meal out with a burger. Even though I wasn't feeling a burger today it was better than what I originally ordered. I've never been a huge Shack Shack fan, but when Ina Garten professed her love for the Chick'n Shack sandwich, even including a recipe for her own version of this fried chicken sandwich in her latest cookbook, I decided to give Shake Shack another go. I'm guessing Danny Meyer himself may have made the sandwiches she had with her husband Jeffrey, because the one I had was just average at best. Quite simply, the Chik'n Shack is a fried chicken breast with lettuce, pickles, and buttermilk herb mayo on a potato bun. There was nothing particularly memorable about this sandwich - hot and crisp, yes, but not particularly flavorful, with a somewhat dry chicken breast having spent perhaps a bit too much time in the fryer. The crinkle cut fries were hot and crispy, but at $3.09, not worth battling the cramped Cabin John parking lot when they accompany a sandwich that just isn't all that. For me, whether it's a burger or chicken sandwich, it's still Habit Burger, hands down. I read an article about who's got the best chicken sandwich. It was focused on Popeye's vs Chic-Fil-a. But the writer actually said that neither was the best. He said it was Shake Shack that took first place in the chicken sandwich war. So I stopped in to give it a try. I ordered a chicken sandwich with no lettuce and no mayonnaise. He (the manager, mind you) repeated back to me one chicken sandwich with no lettuce and no mayonnaise. I said yes, and then asked if I could add bacon and cheese. He said yes, one chicken sandwich add bacon and cheese. And I repeated: and no Mayo or lettuce. And he acknowledged. When I got home the sandwich was absolutely smothered in Mayo. This is a great (dog-friendly) place to come to, especially after enjoying a day at the Cabin John Dog Park just 4 min away. An employee even brought out a fresh bowl of ice water for our pup. We sat on the outdoor patio which had plenty of shade. We got the ShackBurgers, fries, and new Oreo funnel cake shake. Not quite up to par with their other locations. I drive further and get the same product at a different location. For being a larger location, the service lacks. The wait to get to the counter takes too long then the wait for your food is even longer. When you smell the amazing burgers and fries, the wait time should be minimal. The trash cans were over filled, but the staff could hardly get to keeping tables clean and emptying the trash if they can't even serve food quickly. There aren't enough indoor seating. Plenty of outdoor seats, but when the weather gets chilly or when the snow hits, outdoor seating seems useless. Said his fave chicken sandwich was Chick fil A and wanted to know if SS's chicken sandwich would taste just as good. Why yes...yes sir, it would. The difference is in the herb mayo sauce my man and their pickles.... they're just pickled differently. Ordered the chicken sandwich and french fries. Took about 10min for my order to be ready, but the food was absolutely delicious and worth the wait. My constant and only complaint for Shake Shack has always been their good tasting, but too small fries. I ordered 3 burgers and for 2 of them I substituted the bun for lettuce. I picked up my order and went home. When we opened the burger boxes, we were extremely disappointed that the lettuce was not fresh, it was soggy with brown spots. In addition, the garnish lettuce used made it impossible to handle the burger. We have ordered burgers from several competitors substituting the bun for lettuce (five guys, the habit burger and in-n-out burger in California) All competitors provided a fresh iceberg lettuce cut thick so it allows customers to eat a healthier version of a handheld burger. If you live in the DMV & you see a Shake Shack around, you can't help but wonder who really makes a better burger...Shake Shack or Five Guys? I came in to Shake Shack to seek the truth out for myself and this is what I discovered. Shake Shack definitely has a more modern look and feel, their burgers look prettier than the burgers at Five Guys, they even give you a little device that will buzz when your order is ready. Oh did I mention that their tables are made from reclaimed wood? I only know that because the table has an imprint on it that tells me so. But how do they do when it comes to the taste of their burgers? I ordered the shake stack - their fried Portabella stuffed with cheese burger on top of a beef patty topped with your typical burger items. At last. The time has come when I finally get to sink my teeth in my very first shake shack burger. Drumroll please! I bit into that burger and almost instantly realized that the mushroom patty was too hot to the point where I couldn't taste anything! So I let things cool down and poked around in my cheese fries before taking a second bite of my burger. Here's the verdict, having a fried Portabella mushroom patty on top of a beef patty is a cool idea, but for me, it got in the way of enjoying the classic burger taste. The crunch of the fried mushroom patty was a nice dimension, but overall, it didn't add to my enjoyment but knocked off a bit of the flavor I was expecting to experience. Their cheese fries were OK, I had to add salt to that item, I probably would save my$4 and not order their cheese fries again. I've heard a number of people express their disappointment with shake shack fries and describe them as bland, I would have to agree with that too. My dad, brother, and I decided to go to shake shack opening weekend and the line was out the door. We ordered the shroom burger, smoke shack burger (recommended by the guy in front of us, thank you!!), creamsicle, and the cookies and cream shake. Seating was packed but understandable for new opening. The food came out within 10-15 mins even at 6:30-7pm dinner time. The lady at the counter was really nice and asked if everything came out correctly. The shroom burger I got was juicy but not oily, cheese was perfectly packed in without dropping out, and veggies were fresh. I was able to meet Steve who was greeting customers and all around friendly face to the establishment. Saw him deal with a customer (who probably had a bad day) in a professional, respectful, and personal manner. Went here this past week for a pick up order of the new Korean-style burger. It was very good, although slightly on the salty side! My wife ordered a cheeseburger lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions. The cashier entered it as "ShackBurger", and it came out with no pickles, no onions, smothered in some type of sauce, and mayonnaise. I ordered a simple bacon double cheeseburger, and what came out looked like someone smashed it down. Burger was over cooked, and the bacon wasn't burnt, but damn near. And the burgers are tiny! And what they call a large drink is actually medium at most establishments. And our whole experience began with a rude cashier. We told her this was our first time coming to a Shake Shack, and she only mustered up not excitement, not a smile, not even a "welcome to Shake Shack", but being rude, acted as if we were a bother, and was annoyed. A month ago, I had never been to a Shake Shack. My boyfriend took me to the Cabin John location. Now, I'm absconding to SS at random times during the week because it's just so good! Most people would think it's because of the Shack sauce (which is an absolute delight!) and they'd be incorrect. People who know me would say it's because of the wine (and they'd be partially correct as, well, red wine and burgers?!?!?!? They're a perfect pair!). The real reason, though... Mr. Reggie White! (no known relationship) On my first trip, the line was OUT OF CONTROL long. App orders, pickups, and walk-ins all in a crowded area in the front of this restaurant. A little bit unsettling given the nature of the pandemic and feasible lack of social distancing yet it spoke volumes to the overall (positive) vibe of the establishment. That was the first time we met Mr. White and he was extremely personable as he recognized that we had been waiting for a while for our order. Several visits later, he continues to recognize us and he's not only friendly and professional (he rectified that situation at the front of the restaurant!), but he's super helpful.
