However, I must commend the staff for being extremely energetic, making my ordering experience rather enjoyable, believe it or not. Stopped by for lunch after church with my kids! Great burger spot with something for everyone: beef burger, chicken burger or hot dogs! I am a big eater and had the double burger! Yum. I placed a mobile order for around six people through the Shake Shack app. The restaurant itself is wonderful, and there's a ton of outdoor seating, yet we decided to eat at home that night. Our food was ready exactly when it was supposed to be, and everything was made perfectly. I used to just order the shackburger, but then I discovered the shroomburger! It tastes like a big mozzarella stick between two perfectly warm buns. You can still taste the mushroom of course, but the cheese is certainly the star of the show! It pretty much explodes with every bite. I usually get it without the tomato and lettuce, but that's just personal preference. We lucked out pretty much all through - We missed the rush, which started right after we got there. Shake Shack has their whole process down to a science, which makes sense since they're pretty darn popular and busy. You make your order, and then get a number and wait, while corralling a table. Lee and I both ordered regular Shack Burgers, his with bacon, orders of fries, and shakes. Everything was nice and hot and fresh. My only complaint is although the food is good, the prices for what you get are a little on the high side. I can understand why people go here with a cult-like dedication (see: In n Out for similar cultlike dedication.) But for us, it's an occasional lunchtime treat. read more

It's Shake Shack...it's yummy! We were excited to see that a Shake Shack had opened up close by us... no need to go into NYC or up to Westport or Boston to get Shake Shack!! What we love about Shake Shack is that it has outdoor seating which makes it great when we have our dog with us. Upon arriving at this location, we noticed that there was a little area where you can "park your dog" so cute! And they had a game out to entertain the kids. I live in a place (Hong Kong) that has no Shake Shack so this Shake Shack is better than no Shake Shack. The good: -ShackBurger was just as I remembered it: juicy, flavourful patties with yummy cheese in between chewy potato buns. - When paired with the ShackRed house wine it tastes even better! -Luckily fries were fresh so they tasted perfect. -Clean up crew was very friendly. Needs improvement: -Order taking. The woman who took our order didn't repeat it back to us and after checking we noticed we got 1 extra order of fries (should've been 2 bacon cheese fries NOT 1 bacon cheese fries and 2 regular) and she didn't add in the ChickenStack -The wait for food was a bit long during peak Saturday dinner. However, this is a newer outlet so perhaps they are still working out the kinks in the kitchen. We also noticed that there were folks who put in orders through the ShakeShack app and they complained they were waiting for 20+ minutes more than their quoted time. Totally sucks: -Parking. Wow. What a massive, unforgivable disaster. I've eaten at Shake Shack in the city, and it is nothing like this cold, stale, mess. The burger was weirdly rubbery (and cold) and the fries (also cold) were incredibly hard... I'm not sure why but the whole meal was inedible. Other than textural issues and temperature issues, the taste was relatively ok, just hard to eat when everything else is so...wrong. I ended up throwing it out after a few bites. When I tried to call and talk to a manager, I was sent to voicemail three times (horrible management). Here's the thing, this PARTICULAR shake shack is abysmal. That being said, the other Shake Shacks I've been to have been fine, and worth the price honestly. This one is just...one of the hugest disappointments. If you're in the area and you must choose between the Westport location or the Darien location I implore you to choose the Darien location! Hands down this sis the best Shake Shack in the area. They're consistently delicious and if you're a fan of ordering online and picking up your food they're usually good about having your order ready on time. I'm a vegetarian so I always get the portobello mushroom burger and I am never disappointed. The milkshakes are absolutely amazing! As much as I want to restrain myself from having a milkshake every time I go I simply cannot help myself. Parking can be a total nightmare depending on the time of day that you go. Typically on weekends ater 2pm the parking lot becomes bearable and you can find a spot. At peak lunch hours expect a wait for a parking spot. read more

The folks that took the order and put the order together probably need more training or you don't pay them enough I saw cheese fall on the floor someone on the line line decided to rub it off on there apron and continue to use it. Before my order was one one for quite a few burgers. I remember the name was Christina was picking it up. So everyone else waited of course. Anyway please if your going to use off the floor and at the end give me an extra cheese burger that was over counted out of a box for someone else. I tried this Shake Shack locations two times and was unhappy both times my most recent visit on April 20 which prompted this review. Went for lunch and was told the wait time was 20 to 30 minutes so we placed our order and found a seat. 70 minutes later we finally got our food which was not a complicated order. The fries were cold and the staff unwilling to replace or reheat them. The shakes were not cold but room temp from sitting They had a number of cooks but only one person filling orders and one person making drinks. Also noted that the store needed a good cleaning as the counters and restrooms both needed attention. I do not recommend this location. The food was totally not worth the wait! read more

The size of the patty in the Chickn Shack sandwich was a joke and for the $6.99 price was a total ripoff!!! Total check was $17.09, which included fries and a small draft beer. Since CT buses are free during summer weekends, i decided to hop on a bus for 15 minutes to try shake shack.After ordering, I waited patiently for 30 mins for my order. They forgot the sauces and moved very slowly despite paying $27 for two orders of fries, 6 pieces of chicken bites, and veggie mushroom burger. Fries had no flavor. I feel like I am on a different planet than a lot of the below reviews, but I have been here maybe 5 or 6 times already (around 7-8 pm on weekends and weekdays) and there is pretty much no wait at the register and the parking is fine. But I also think a lot of people aren't really familiar with Shake Shack--which isn't their fault. But seriously, this is as good as any other Shake Shack in the city and I actually think the people that work here are especially nice. I want to give a 5 just to offset the low ratings but honestly, in terms of Darien, this is pretty much the best place to eat in the whole town. I love the cheese and shack sauce! It's so creamy and delicious. The potato buns are super buttery and soft as well. The crinkle cut fries are crispy and perfectly salted. The burgers are so so good! Their concretes are AMAZING! We love the chocolate custard and mixing it with the chocolate truffle cookie dough. It's our favorite! I must say, Shake Shack is better than In-n-out! Have been going here once a month or so and do the mobile order app is great, pick the time and go. Today was my first "bad" experience being that no care was put into a take out order and the grilled cheese was the saddest thing that I think I've seen come out of a kitchen in a long time. The other food was ok, I was in a hurry and should have had them take it off my order or make new but there should not have been a reason to have me question it upon pickup. This is what you do , food service. Please when making a grilled cheese sandwich for anyone in the future do not press it into a 2mm thick comedy. Great location-right off 95 north or south. Its a chain but curated with a lot of thought and care. The menu is yummy but the last two times I went I could not get parking ...So I had to go elsewhere. That being said, their Shack burger is dangerously addictive and a great size. The mustard and ketsup are fabulous as is the shack sauce. I've tried the app on my iPhone however it has been difficult to order in the period of time that I know I'm going to eat and need to pick up. Ordered the Shoom burger which was delicious. And 2 other burgers in the photo are Shack burgers. Fresh portobello mushroom used, and nice cheese melted inside the mushroom. I asked for Shack sauce on the side which is the way to go. However, the fifty-fifty tasted a bit flavorless...either they put too much ice, or the lemonade/iced tea wasn't strong enough. This Shake Shack is worthy of three stars because the teenagers in my house and in my neighborhood are addicted to it. It also has friendly service. But why are there ZERO healthful options? No turkey burger? No vegetarian burger? Why is the mushroom burger fried? Why is the chicken burger fried and loaded with mayonnaise? If you want parents to bring their children to a restaurant, even a fast food restaurant, it would be helpful to offer fare for the more health conscious.
