Went here last week. The burger was nice and juicy and I added special toppings and also ordered the fries. It was like 8 pm and seemed to take a little bit of time to get my food. Feel like there is a push for mobile ordering since there are several self service monitors set up for ordering. There was a lot of window and booth like chair seating. I do feel like the burger and fries were more on the expensive side $20 for Burger and fries is a bit insane for fast food type of restaurant. Everything was delicious.

I have wanted to try Shake Shack for years as its a publicy traded company so have been dying to see what the hype was about. You can't beat the location in Downtown Crossing. The food is good, not great, and the prices are fair, about equivalent of Five Guys Burgers but honestly its better. The Hot Dogs for $4.50 are one of the best deals going.

Always love a shake shack and was happy to find one in downtown Boston. Easy to order , and the food is consistent ----delicious and juicy burger , albeit a little small but enough for me ---and crispy shoe string fries . Served was friendly and service was quick despite the line. Nice location and perfect for a quick lunch while on the "trail."

A Good shake shack location. Clean, nice employees. Food doesn't disappoint. Plenty of seating.

The shake shack on milk and Washington St ...very close to the freedom trail. All ordering is done on customized computer screen, super easy and quick. You either leave your phone number or pick up number for them to call or text your order. Fresh burger with crispy crinkle fries.

Both the kid and hubs have never had a Shake Shack meal before so we stopped in for lunch on our last day in Boston. Location is conveniently within walking distance of the Downtown Crossing T station. We used a kiosk (because we need time to look at the menu and decide!) and ordered a ShackBurger, White Truffle Burger, and SmokeBurger (names are approximate haha), fries, Dreamsicle shake and a large pomegranate basil drink. Total was about $40. I gave my phone number and received a text to pick up shortly after. The burgers look really small (we're used to big ones) but they were surprisingly filling. The buns were soft and the burger patties taste freshly made. The fries were crispy too. The pomegranate drink was a little tart but refreshing. The milkshake though tasted solely like vanilla, no blood orange flavor at all. The color was also a giveaway, given that the picture of the shake looked orange-y. The kid went to ask about the milkshake and was told it's supposed to taste a bit of both. But he's afraid to make a scene so he let it be. Seems to be a popular spot, not overly busy, and the turnover was relatively quick.

The presentation of the food here was probabky the worst I've ever had at any Shake Shack restaurant I've been to ... and I've visited my fair share. On an early Sunday afternoon in the financial district, this restaurant was as empty as I've ever seen a Shake Shack, yet when the burger came out, it literally looked like someone threw it on a tray from across the room. The Double Shack burger has two burgers and cheese. The two burgers were different sizes and not uniform. They placed the larger one on top and the smaller one on the bottom and nothing really 'fit together. The buns were askew and I basically had to do my best to reassemble it. It was also literally dripping with grease ... by far the greasiest Shake Shack burger I have ever eaten. Maybe they normally 'de-grease' the burgers at other stores? I can't say that the burger wasn't delicious. Even this monstrosity of a burger lookswise kicked the shit out of any Five Guys or Wahlburger burger I have ever had from a taste level. They aren't scared of salt here! The burger had a lot of seasoning ... and the french fries were twice as salty as any fries I've had. But ... I happen to like salt and would rather have over-seasoned vs. underseasoned fries any day of the week. The value of Shake Shack is getting rough. $12 for a Shack Burger and fries. Ouch. I remember only a few years ago complaining about it being $8. Inflation sucks. In my beloved Los Angeles, nothing beats an In N Out burger ... nothing! However, Shake Shack fries are much better than In N Out, although not made freshly made, like In N Out. And ... unless I am missing a secret menu, Shake Shack has nothing like animal style. It's like $2 extra for a few pumps of orange cheese sauce. I will say the guy behind the counter was great. He was polite, efficient and made the experience better ... to all the Gen Z'ers who complain that they actually have to (gasp!) speak to someone vs. typing your order into a kiosk. Overall, it was a very good tasting burger that looked like it was run over by a car. Shake Shack doesn't disappoint and in Massachusetts, it's one of the best burgers, chain or otherwise, you'll find, even if the price is approaching what you'd get at a sit down restaurant.

I'm never one to stop at a burger chain with so much to offer nearby, but we had a long day and had just got off the train with Shake Shack right in front of us. The plan was a quick bite before heading back to the hotel. It was late, not much was open because of covid, and I've always wanted to try Shake Shack. To be honest, the food was good and the reason for my star rating making it to two. I would definitely like to try SS again under better circumstances and at a different location. The service here from start to finish was atrocious (except one young kid who was trying to be helpful... I wish I got his name). We were placing orders on the screens and had a group of us that just arrived back from a long train ride. A couple of us went to use the restroom after to find it was locked. We went to inquire and were told it was closed. Out of confusion, I asked for clarification and she said it's nasty and they didn't have time to clean it so it's just closed. They didn't have any plan to take care of it either because they were short staffed. She was practically yelling at us about how shit the staff is and how they can't keep up. It continued on from there and anything we needed or was mixed up she had an attitude. This location needs an overhaul.

LOL I almost couldn't believe this place was real? What a joke of an establishment. This was on Sunday at around 8pm and yes I get it, they were tired and I was tired. I don't think that excuses what they did though? This review is mostly on service but still definitely touches on the food. I mean look at my ítem? It was so unimpressive and un presentable and not at all spicy. They definitely forgot the sauce and literally put a tiny sliver of bacon. Look at the pictures online from their marketing page to see a before and after. I could expect this from like McDonald's or Burger King but for a 10 dollar sandwich, I truly expected more. It was disgusting and flavorless and oh! Don't forget cold. When we entered me and my friend were the only ones inside the store. I would say about every five minutes another person would walk in the store and order. keep in mind I placed my order first on the tablet and paid and then my friend did right after me, but somehow everyone who came in afterwards for about the next 20 minutes, were getting their food except for us, eventually they called my friends name and they got served the food and I decided to wait about five more minutes. Eventually I grew impatient and I went up to the cashier to ask them what happened to my food. Not only did they forget to print out the receipt. Somehow I guess they had decided that they already made one that was just sitting out, but then right in front of me, the cashier yelled out "oh shit this gonna be cold! He been waiting" literally right in front of my face. I thought oh ok fine whatever they'll make another, but no. They just packaged it in front of me and then put it in a bag and handed it to me. I was kind of shook but also tired after waiting twenty minutes so I just took it and stared at her kind of appalled. After they didn't say anything after I stared at them for a bit I just decided it wasn't worth it. By this time, my friends food had also gotten cold because they were waiting for me. They had no sense of remorse nor did they have an inkling of customer service. Never ever ever coming back here again! Do not waste your money. Did I mention how sad the sandwich looked? Please take another glance at my meal.

Came in for a after dinner treat, we got the strawberry milkshakes. The self order tablet made the process quick and easy. The shakes were out within a few minutes and we hung out in the dining area to enjoy them. A cool vibe in this spot, it was pretty busy on this Saturday night. The shakes were thick and full of fruit, can't beat that. I'd def come back again.

Shake shack burger is good but it is not big portion and expensive. I think that it is would be amazing if they increase the size of patty and put more food or have a set menu with fries and drinks. The food came out quick. I got the smoke burger which was pretty good but did not fill me up. It had a good kick of spice but not too much and was not too salty. The shroom burger was also good.

Veggie Shack-Cheese Fries shack ShackBurger-and one hot Chocolate Shake.

The food was good. The service was good too. But there were less systems to place the order. Ambiance was great but very crowded.

We walked into a simple counter-service space with limited indoor seating, the kind of place that feels more like a grab-and-go stop than a sit-down lunch spot. Even with its small footprint, there was a steady stream of customers coming in for one of the signature sandwiches, and the energy of the room stayed practical and focused on getting orders out efficiently. The lobster roll is the clear standout. We ordered one and found it generously filled with lobster meat, making it feel substantial compared to many other lobster rolls around the city. Whether you choose it hot with butter or cold with mayo, the focus stays on the lobster itself rather than overwhelming it with extra ingredients. The toasted roll added just enough texture without taking away from the filling. Although the lobster roll gets most of the attention, the rest of the menu offers plenty of options if seafood is not what you are looking for. There are oversized sandwiches, soups like clam chowder, and classic sides that make it easy to find something for different tastes. The portions are generous overall, making the prices feel reasonable considering the amount of food you receive. The service was quick and efficient, which fits the fast-paced counter-service concept. The staff moved through orders with speed, and the food came out without much delay. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the limited seating, especially during lunch hours or peak tourist seasons in the North End. If the dining area is full, taking your food to go or finding a nearby outdoor spot can be a better option. Overall, Pauli's is a great stop if you are looking for a satisfying lobster roll without an overly formal seafood restaurant experience. The generous portions, straightforward menu, and convenient location make it an easy place to visit while exploring the North End, especially if lobster rolls are at the top of your list.

The Yellow Rice was likely seasoned with turmeric and saffron, making it very flavorful. The basmati rice grains were distinct but not too dry, perfect for mixing with the sauce. The White Garlic Sauce wasn't overpowering; it mainly added a touch of acidity, which, along with the cool, sweet corn, helped to cut through the greasiness. Actually, it was completely different from any other Moroccan lamb stew I've had. It was more like Yemeni Mandi, but with more layers of flavor and a more universally appealing taste. As a fusion dish, how can it not be considered a success? Nothing to write home about, but adequate. Onion rings were excellent. I've never had rings with whatever they used to fry it in, but it was fantastic. She's a tiny thing and usually can't eat an entire burger, but she inhaled the whole thing. The Bad: I am apparently very naive - I thought the vegan burger was something they made in house and was interested to taste the combo of veggies they use. Nope. My Honest Review of Potbelly - 263 Washington Street…read more This is going to be a long review, so make sure you're sitting down for this. Visit #1 - (TLDR) Amazing Manager, Great Food, 5-Star Experience. Visit #2 - (TLDR) Rude crew worker, antagonistic, 2-Star Experience. Visit #1 A few days ago, I visited Potbelly for the first time as part of a comparison with Al's Cafe, which just opened near Sweetgreen. I had their Italian at the grand opening and then came to Potbelly which is my girlfriend's favorite spot to compare the two. We both expected Al's to win, but surprisingly, Potbelly was the better sub by a good margin. The ingredients tasted fresher, the sandwich had more balance, and the overall flavor was just better. But the thing that really stood out was the manager. Not only did he make my sandwich, but I also watched him give a homeless man a free small sub even though the guy asked for it in a disrespectful tone. The manager stayed calm, polite, and generous. He told me what people like the most, what he likes and was honestly just a vibe. That mattered to me. I work in customer service, so I care about character and attitude just as much as I care about food quality. The price for my large Italian sub that day was about $14.59, which felt totally reasonable for the area. Because of that experience, I told multiple people about Potbelly, and I even made a TikTok about the place that got 12k views. (Not much I know) That first visit was easily a 5-star experience. I would give 6-7 stars if I could. Visit #2 I came back again today specifically to confirm if my great experience was consistent before writing a review. Unfortunately, this visit was the opposite of the first. When I went up to order, the woman working the counter didn't look at me at all. When she finally did, she hit me with a dry: "Can I help you?" Not a greeting. No eye contact. Just attitude and I know attitude is subjective, but the tone felt like I was bothering her. I don't mean to be preachy. And I obviously know she's not racist. But being an African male in Boston you can feel when someone sees you in a certain light. Meanwhile, I watched her talk to other customers like: * explaining menu items * smiling * being attentive She didn't do any of this with me. The Menu Issue + Custom Order Problem I told her I wanted something different from the Italian I got last time and asked if they had pastrami. She sighed, looked annoyed, and told me: "Look at our menu." But the menu at this location is a giant wall poster with tiny text it doesn't help with custom orders at all. And from the very beginning, I clearly stated this was a custom order, so the menu wasn't going to answer my question anyway. While I was trying to think of an alternative, less than a minute later she said: "Sooo... what do you want?" She was rushing me like she just wanted me out of her way. The energy she gave me compared to how she treated others felt noticeably different. The Price Shock - $33.85 After I ordered, I got a surprise at the register: the total was $33.85 for a single large sub. Here's what I ordered: * salami * pepperoni * ham * turkey * roast beef That's only one extra meat compared to the Italian sub I got the first time. They charged me double turkey and double ham, but didn't actually give me double of either meat. They just charged for double. "Big" simply means the sandwich is the large size not double meat but what I got charged for was basically "two subs worth" of meat without actually receiving that. I only realized the price was $33.85 after paying. The Receipt Situation - Completely Unnecessary Attitude When I asked for my receipt, she said: "Oh, so now you want your receipt?" Then she added: "When I asked you earlier, why'd you say no?" This is when it went from "bad attitude" to "being confrontational." Like you should've heard the way she said it. I didn't ask for a receipt earlier because I didn't know the sub would be over $33. Once I saw the total, of course I wanted the receipt. There was no reason for her to turn that into a moment. I just spoke to my gf about it and this other woman and they've also had unpleasant experiences with her. The establishment is great. The food is superior in my opinion. And the manager is someone I'd have a drink with. But the woman I interacted with today was insufferable. And the only reason she still works there and gets away with it is because the manager is such a bundle of joy. And not everyone is going to write a review or even say anything because we all work and there's just no time for things like this. Thanks for reading. Hope this helps. Why does everyone say hope this helps now? Idk. I'm just joining in on it. Love yall.
