Dinner delivered because I was too lazy to go out and get anything. I looked over the menu and decided on the grilled chicken sandwich "package." The sandwich was nicely assembled on tasty toasted bread with melted cheese and hummus and some veggies. Delicious. The "package" includes a soda, chips and dessert. I chose the carrot cake and it was good. Moist, not too heavy with frosting and just a little sweet. It arrived right on time and packaged appropriately. I'd order from them again. read more

I stopped off here to pick up something for dinner because their list of specialty roll ups reminded me of the ones I've had back in college days at Angora Cafe by BU. It is a tiny take-out spot, with a counter where you may place your order and a couple of refrigerators where you can grab a soda or a slice of cake/cheesecake for dessert. Not to say that you can't stay and eat - they do have 7 square tables set for 2 people apiece. Service was pleasant. The gentleman taking my order even made suggestions, but I ended up going with my original intention - the 1st listed specialty roll up, consisting of eggplant (breaded), roasted red peppers, mozzarella and the like for $7.50. It didn't take long to make, and when I requested it cut in two and separately wrapped, I wasn't made to feel a bother. Half the wrap made for a nice light meal. The other half is making for a nice light lunch to which I'm adding my leftover tiramisu from another meal. The red pepper was a little overwhelming - some additional eggplant and/or mozzarella might have helped. And the way the roll up was wrapped made for a rather high ratio of bread in my last bites by the end. But all in all, it was pretty good. Perhaps not a destination spot (unless you are hankering for some fro yo mentioned by other reviewees?), but a good place to stop by if you are in the area. read more

I am pescatarian and ordered a salad with shrimp however they were out so instead of notifying me they substituted chicken. I didn't have high hopes for pizza in Boston and I was right. This may not have been a renowned pizzeria in Boston but it still was not the highest quality. The Pizza tasted like it was from chuck e cheese honestly. I am not saying it was terrible but it didn't have the quality that the NYC pizza has. It needed like 5 more minutes in the oven as well so the cheese and crust could firm up a little. We also ordered the wings which weren't bad. Buffalo sauce on wings may be the best smell ever and probably rhe best hangover food. I was hoping this pizza would change my perception but this pizza didnt do that. They were offering a sample of their new falafel sandwich, and the sign -in setting of my snacking mood when leaving work - caught my eye. I was expecting a small piece of falafel but instead they took some time and crafted an entire sandwich! Falafel were not overly fried tasting, the pita tasted quite fresh and was soft, and the cabbage added just the right amount of crunch and texture. I had to run to the train ; if I didn't I would have probably asked for a little more bit sauce and I get the sense they would have happily obliged. I appreciate the pride he puts in the food and will likely go back some day to support the business! read more

The one that was supposed to have chocolate jimmies had rainbow and the one that was supposed to have rainbow had no jimmies. A bunch of the other toppings were missing. Why oh why did I not know that chicken broccoli Alfredo CALZONES were a thing?? Did I miss the memo? Was I not at that reception? Did my invite get lost in the mail??!! Cafe Podima's calzones are cheesy pockets of delicious sauces and tastes covered in another layer of freshly melted cheese with slightly golden brown bubbles of awesomeness. I want nothing else but every single type of calzone they have. The Eggplant Parmesan has thick cut slices of breaded eggplant, extra Parmesan inside, and served with sweet marinara sauce and an extra chewy crust that makes me want to take this thing to bed. The cheese Calzone is stuffed with tons of cheeses one of which is ricotta. Wonderfully creamy ricotta. I'm getting a cheesegasm just thinking about it. Seriously, Cafe Podima is one of those pizza cafe's on the back of beacon hill you have to try. Its reasonably cheap and they're open pretty late and on grub hub and all those other sites so if your looking for a late night bite tis the place to enjoy. They also have pretty good sandwiches and roll ups ( way different then a wrap, they use lavish bread which is a bit heavy and flour-y compared to a tortilla wrap) but its the same level of well seasoned ingredients. My only qualm is with their delivery. While on a less busy night your food will be there in thirty minutes or less, when they're busy the food can take over an hour and there's no courtesy call or notification of the extra wait. A little unprofessional but I mean, stuff my face with that cheese calzone and I'll forget it ever happened, I promise. read more

If you take a look at their menu you will see that they have almost 50 sandwiches. You can mix-and-match all kinds of ingredients. My absolute favorite sandwich to order is one of their hot sandwiches. I always choose focaccia bread. The sandwiches are large and incredibly filling. I usually have half a sandwich for lunch and save the other half for dinner. You can easily reheat them a little bit in the microwave if you'd like. Aside from the sandwiches, I love ordering their custom made ice cream. Yes you read that correctly. They use a base of vanilla soft serve and mix in whatever you'd like. Their ingredient list is a mile long. I usually choose peanut butter and milk chocolate chips. It is to die. They will do large orders but I'm not sure about delivery. read more

I order delivery quite often and have to say that as far as sub shops/small restaurants go, I'd put Cafe Podima up around the top. The sandwiches are great and they offer a ton of different bread options. My favorite is the "Boston College" - chicken salad, lettuce, tomato and bacon on focaccia. It's a slam dunk. This is some of the best chicken salad I've had....and I'm picky about my chicken salad! Lean and not overly mayonnaised. Also have ordered the chef and chicken caesar salads. Everything (including the lettuce) was fresh and delicious....they have some great dressings as well (try the balsamic vinegar). The last of my favorites thus far is the chicken, ziti and broccoli entree. Perfectly cooked pasta/broccoli and not boatloads of alfredo sauce. They use the perfect amount, it's not a heavy alfredo but an extremely tasteful one. I've never experienced any problems with delayed delivery or inept delivery guys (as I have at plenty of other places). Simply put, the quality of food is well above average in this price category. We order from here a lot at work, and 2 x's out of the 10+ it was a complete nightmare (we're talking 2+ hours for our food to arrive). So I'm deeming it a problem with a certain group of shift workers. Every other time it has been OPS normal delivery, so I won't completely write them off. The food is consistently good, my favorite is the buffalo chicken calzone it's BOMB. The fact that they have frozen yogurt is also a plus, and they have every topping under the sun. I've also had their pizza before and it was good, but definitely not the best. I had a very disturbing and creepy encounter with him. The driver had a hard time finding my place so he called me, and then after he delivered my food I received a text from the same number and it said, "How much do you charge sweetie?" Not only is the comment extremely offensive, but I find it VERY creepy that a delivery man would even think to send something like that- it really goes to his state of mind and THAT is scary. Every weekend when my best friend comes over, we trade off. One week I'll cook, and the next week he'll "cook". When it's his turn, we order from Cafe Podima. I am very picky with my pizza and like almost NOBODY'S pizza. Theirs is perfect. In October, I was diagnosed with something that now makes it so I can no longer have gluten, dairy, corn, soy and et cetera. This past weekend I got really sick. It is almost impossible to find any kind of soup with no gluten in it. They have a chicken lemon and rice soup that I absolutely LOVE! I called them up and asked if they had a size that's bigger than the one that comes with you order it. They said no, but asked me what I want it for. When I explained how sick I was and the fact that theirs is the only soup I can have, they sent a HUGE batch over, for way less than half price. Their salads are great! The ingredients are always fresh and they are very generous with the toppings and extras. I love that they use mesclun mix as a base. I also like their fro-yo, and their stuffed shells are spot-on. You get 5 in a portion plus garlic bread. It's definitely enough food for two meals. By 8:15 I had heard nothing from them, I called and was told the delivery driver had just left and would be there in 7-8 minutes! Fantastic pizza! Was in town for marathon weekend, and, after a long day of seeing the sites, we found ourselves wandering the streets at 1 am, looking for food. Yelp showed our as closed, but the door was open and someone was at the counter. They were trying to close, but offered to make us a pizza. Before long, he cranked up the tunes, turned his sign on, started serving anyone who walked in. Turned into an impromptu party. Very friendly business, great food, a fun place to eat. I found you. We were able to snag a tasty calzone for only $11. It ended up lasting my fiancee and I two meals. It was tasty when it was fresh, it was tasty when it was old. Its worth its weight in gold. I am not very fond of calzones in general, I really find it hard to like them mostly because they are overpriced and usually end up tasting very mediocre. The mediterranean calzone here though was full of fresh veggies, ample amounts of cheese, and had a pretty decent marinara on the side. For some reason I like ranch with pizza and calzones, and their ranch was definitely a great complement to a great dish. It helps that this place is right next to my work place. I am now very enticed to try out other things here, and perhaps even add this place to my list of places to frequently frequent. read more
