We just went there tonight to get a 3 shroom burgers, 1 hot dog, 2 fries and root beer float, and 4 pickles on the side to go. First, there's an unpleasant smell even by the entrance on the line up queue. It almost smell like the strong smell from the toilet. I am wondering if I was I the only one who smelled that? The guy by the register was nice and polite. After awhile when my order was ready, the girl who worked at the counter told me everything was in there. So glad I checked. They missed the hot dog and the pickles. The girl got the hotdog right away. However, it took almost 10 mins for me to get the pickles. The kitchen took about 5 mins to get them out on the shelf, and it was right there already, the girl in the front who has been helping me was getting the other orders (which I understood so I didn't rush her). When she saw it, she stacked them up and gave it to me which 1) I had my order to go so I need lids. 2) She was putting the bottom of the containers on the pickles which VERY unsanitary. I then asked for lids. She put them back on the shelf, then she started to work on other orders. To be honest, she could have had done it right away. It is a 5 seconds job and she kept me waiting for more than 5 mins. When we come back, get the fries out, we found a hair. My husband and I got here just before noon on a Saturday. We were surprised and extremely relieved that there were no lines (unlike the Shake Shacks in Manhattan). This chain is clean with very friendly staff. The fries came out crispy; burgers were moist, delicious and non-greasy. Question: Is this Shake Shack a good one or bad one? Answer: Good one! Shake Shack is my favorite burger place, and I had to try this new site in the mall. I got my usual hamburger with fries. My burger looked sad like a child who lost his mother in a huge mall, but the taste was authentic Shake Shack! I have experienced both good ones and bad ones, but I approved this location to be a good one. My review relates mostly to the service I received. We were in NJ on vacation and stopped by for some food during a mall outing. As part of my order, I ordered a shake but asked the cashier to make sure that there were no peanuts in it because of my daughter's allergy. He assured me there were no nuts in the one I ordered, however there were nuts on the station where the shakes are made. I told him that was ok. A minute later the manager came out from the back and came over to where we were sitting. He wanted to confirm once again that I knew there were peanuts at the station. He said he would make the shake himself and he would be sure to change gloves first and be very careful. I thanked him and said to go ahead. After a minute, I decided better safe than sorry and I went back to cancel the order for the shake. They were extremely nice and gave me the refund right away even though the manager had already started making the shake. He even came out again, apologized and offered any other dessert I wanted for free. I ended up ordering just plain ice cream for my daughter since that came from a peanut free area. It was really nice to see this establishment takefood allergies so seriously. I've heard horror stories from other parents where restaurants are very lax about allergy issues and the kids have had to suffer the consequences. A lot of times people don't understand the severity of allergies. They think it's a joke or a nuisance. So bravo to the manager here! read more

The Shroom burger is GOOD. I don't even like mushrooms but it's very crunchy and tasty! I ordered it for to-go with the bacon cheese fries which are also amazing. They packaged the cheese and bacon in separate containers from the fries so it wouldn't get gross. How nice! I also have it on good authority that the cookies and cream milkshake is fantastic. Oh my god the chick'shack is amazing!!! Perfect crispy chicken with lettuce pickles and an olive oil and rosemary mayo sauce. I can tell you it's delicious. It's a pretty rapid service about ten to fifteen mins to get your food. They have a beeper service , you order take a seat and they buzz when your meal is ready. Not as busy as I thought so we were able to get a table. Music was a bit loud at the register which made it difficult for the cashier to hear us. Finally got our order in and when the cashier went to hand me the buzzer, she dropped it on the floor. Instead of handing us another, she picked it up off the floor and tried to hand it to me. What happens when you put a popular burger joint in a gigantic and equally popular mall in a small-ish retail location? This is what happens: longish lines, seated customers loitering, and ordering customers hovering over loitering customers. We went a few days after they opened and they had ventilation problems, so we couldn't order any hot foods. They gave away free burger vouchers for a future visit, which we weren't expecting but were pleasantly surprised with. This is the type of customer service Shake Shack regularly offers, which is a big reason why we return to their business. When we returned again a few weeks later, we went on a Saturday around 5pm. We thought it was still on the early side for dinner, but a decent line was already out the door. It was manageable enough that we decided to brave it. Long story short, customers here loiter, forcing people with food in hand to hover and wait for seats. We were there with our baby, who was sleeping in his stroller. Fortunately another family was wrapping up, saw us, and kindly waved us over and blocked for us to get their table instead of some other youngn's. (Major kudos to that family, btw.) I'd return because the burgers are always good, but wouldn't do it during rush hour dining times. read more

If there is anything you hear me say a lot, it's that Bergen county will never cease to surprise you on how many franchises are so close within your reach. Before Shake Shack open up at Garden State Plaza, I always visited the one on Route 17, which is literally 10 minutes away. It's in such close proximity except this one is much more convenient to drive to despite mall parking. I always disliked Route 17 and its never-ending traffic. It's funny because most of NJ can't get Shake Shack unless you head to NYC or Philly, but here in Bergen, you get two almost side by side. The Shake Shack here is slightly smaller and has an entrance from outside the mall and inside. The food? Well, the food is good. I definitely had better burgers at better prices (ahem, In-N-Out) but this does beat McDonald's. I am also surprised at how fresh the ingredients are too. My complaint is that one Shack burger actually doesn't fill me up. I did try the double once and that did fill me. It's weird because I get full pretty easily. The crinkle cut fries are yummy. The shakes are a little too sweet and creamy for my taste though. The service is good and fast. If you're shopping and want to venture to a wing that no one really shops at for burgers, go to Shake Shack. read more

Shack shake is my favorite burger ever and I have tried many. It is juicy and crispy all at the same time. The bun is so soft, almost velvety. The cheese is so melted it's almost liquid. It is fantastic! This location is great. There is never a long line here. Much better than going to the city where I've had to wait a half hour. The staff here is always very friendly. The food at shake shack never disappoints and the service is just as good. I recently went to this location with my toddler in his stroller, which can be challenging sometimes as a mom out by herself. Right after I ordered my food, the woman working the register asked where we were sitting so she could bring over a high chair. Then as we waited at the counter for our food another worker volunteered to carry the tray to our table, and even brought ketchup so I wouldn't have to go get it with a stroller in tow. We were checked on while eating and asked if we needed anything, and the worker brought us a bag for my son's leftovers. And then when we were done the same worker came over and threw away our garbage and put away the tray. Everyone was so nice to help us and I also saw them help another mom there by herself with her baby/stroller. Came to visit family in NJ and found out there was a Shake Shack in the Garden State Mall. Nice. I've only had it once before and that was over 8 years ago. Went in and got the Shackburger, cheese fries and soda. Not bad...but not as good as I remembered it. As the years passed, I must have thought it was better and better than it actually was. Burgers here are amazing! I don't usually like crinkle cut fries but they are plenty salty, crunchy, and flavorful. The staff is always helpful and will even sometimes come over to get you a refill or clean your tray (not expected for fast casual but it's a nice gesture if they get you).
