I had placed two orders in the app do that I can just pick it up upon arrival. Upon entry. There were few people waiting. There was no staff at the cashier. Not sure if they are short staff or has weak task management, all the staff were busy and felt overwhelmed. The first order was a milkshake and I see it sitting on the counter. The staff closest to the front counter was not facing the customers and was overwhelmed by the orders needed to pack. She did not look happy. After about 5-10 minutes, she finally turned around and started handing out the order. My second order was a burger and chicken sandwich. In a free minutes there was a switch in the staff to the packing. She was more composed and was able to quickly packed the food and give them out. Was at a show a few blocks away and wanted a milkshake so I came to Shake Shack to get one. I ordered a chocolate shake and that's kind of what I wanted but not really. I wanted a cookies and cream shake but with a chocolate base but there was no way to customize it on the self ordering kiosk. I know I could have went to the counter but there didn't seem to be anyone there and the workers were really busy. It was fine. I just got a regular chocolate shake. The staff appear exhausted by overwork. Delivery drivers constantly interrupt customers interacting with the employees. To keep up with the demand, shakes are pre-made and stored in a cooler. Stopped in for lunch, I honestly can't believe I spent $20 here. I got a small chicken bites, cheese fries with bacon and a small drink. The chicken bites were great. Fried perfectly, the chicken quality was better then I thought and overall they were good. The cheese fries sucked. I wasn't able to pick up one fry without it falling apart. The cheese came all hard, it seized up before I was able to even take two bites. The bacon was low quality. For my drink I got a lemonade, pretty good. Loved that I was able to get a free refill but super sweet. Inside was large, a few tables were messy but that's more on the customers then anything. What I hated was I had to put my order in myself through a computer screen and then at the end it asked if I wanted to leave a 18, 20 or 25 percent tip. Like wtf, I haven't gotten my food yet and I didn't the order myself. Shake Shack, it isn't the customers responsibility to pay your employees, if they even see that. Had to feed 3 teenagers after the movies so in a toss up between pizza and burgers I chose my heart. When the Shake Shack wave hit NY a few years ago maybe like 14 idk I was absolutely enamored by the juicy burgers and decided to walk ten minutes in the blistering heat to "keep that same energy" so to speak. I could just imagine how amazing my burger was going to taste and debated while walking as to whether or not I would buy a beer. So yeah we entered, it was calm, the summer chicken sandwich was like hey pick me! I was like nope and ordered 2 Shack burgers, a chicken sandwich for my daughter and a juicy cheeseburger for myself. We got our little table card and sat for a few while the restaurant texted me updates on my order that I placed myself at the digital kiosk since that was the only option. They had a two man team in front one packing orders and one pushing them out to the tables or ppl waiting by the door. I thought it was efficient until.... They got my order wrong twice. They gave me someone else's lemonade; I was like huh bc I thought I ordered in error at first. I just gave it right back and was like hi I'm missing the cheeseburger. And then- and then they gave me a double shack burger as a replacement and I do not even like shack sauce. (Why??) I love ordering anything on a kiosk since I like to take my time looking through everything. The ordering process was seamless and efficient and you receive a text message when your order was ready. Not to be confused with the one in the middle east, which is the Sheikh Shack. I told people years ago, this is not an icon of NYC, it's just McDonald's but tasting worse and 3 times the price (these days twice the price). They proved me right by basically becoming the new "hipster" McDonald's across the country. I can't give them one star though, because the fries weren't nearly as bad as the burger, and they let me use their bathroom whether I'm eating here or not, which most places in NYC are iffy about. What this location offers is the few kiosks so you can simply place your order and get a text when it's ready (and they would call out your name as well). I love Shake shack, and come once a week. (Shhh!) I had not been to this location before so I was excited to try it. The indoor is still closed for dining but somebody waits outside to deliver the food. The app was pretty accurate and I took pretty much exactly how long the app had said that it would take. Which was about 15 minutes on a Friday night. I ordered my standard single shack burger with a side of shack sauce but the sauce did not come with it. I did however add pickles and subtract the lettuce and tomato and it was accurate. I also got fries with the cheese on the side and they were as usual cooked to a crisp perfection crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My burger was delicious it's always usually cook the same so that was nice and standard and this time I got a little bit of a larger size that was even larger than my bun. The only thing I didn't like was that the outdoor seating was not lit at all. So there is quite a decent amount of tables outdoors maybe eight or so but the lights were not turned on and it was a evening so it was quite dark in there as a person who was dining alone. I'm sure this is an easy fix because I saw that there were strand lights but they just weren't turned on. I would appreciate if there were lights because when you are sitting in the outdoor sidewalk seating there's lots of traffic and big buses coming by right next to you. read more

Warning: this location is CARD ONLY!! I've been here multiple times and everytime this Shake Shack never disappoints. It is always kept clean and the tables are constantly wiped after each customer. There are little kiosks to the right side with the whole menu so you can order everything yourself. The lemonade is delicious, by the way. So are the shakes, of course! The pick-up area is in the middle, and the seating area is to the left. It may be hard to find seating during rushes but overall it doesn't take too long to find a seat. The workers are always super kind and stop by to check up on you. I've had some pretty interesting short conversations with a few of the staff and it feels genuine, not forced. They also take your trays for you when they see you've finish your food. The ambiance is always pretty relaxed, in my opinion, despite the volume of other customers. Ah, every time I'm back in New York, I make an effort to come to Shake Shack. They must be sprinkling some addictive drugs in there because it keeps me coming back! Now that i know that this location exists by the Greenwich Village area, I find myself coming to Shake Shack for burgers and fries more than I'd like to admit. This is a cashless, kiosk operated location with about 10 kiosks to the left once you enter. Sometimes a staff member will be there to help direct and guide you on using the machines. It accepts cards and Samsung Pay too which I'm very pleased with. The staff here are very enthusiastic and friendly. They're always cheering and smiling throughout. The seating area is bright, and although it's smaller than the other locations in NYC, most people take their food to-go here so it's not too big of a problem. The condiment and drink station can get super crowded due to its small size. It might be good to have two of these stations (add another by the door or something) to help the traffic a bit. People are always fighting to get to the ketchup and with everyone's hands so full, it's an accident waiting to happen. read more

ordinarily, i'd never leave a review of a fast food place, but i've noticed that nyc is a sort of testing ground for big corporations to see how much they can raise their prices and how low they can drop their quality before people stop buying, and i used to really like shake shack. it was a restaurant where you'd expect to pay a little more for a burger but where you could also expect a higher quality meal. this was not the staff's fault at all--the people working here were great. however, the burgers literally just came with meat, cheese, and one slice of lettuce. we asked where all the other stuff was, and were told we had to pay extra for it. i don't think that's a fair policy to ask the employees to uphold. we got a tomato and some onions in a little baggie. it was silly. the fries tasted bland and came out lukewarm. i really think they'd been reheated. anyway, it was disappointing, but i'll live. read more
