After the opening, I dropped in to get some burgers, sides, and shakes -- and it was a very underwhelming dining experience. The burgers and fries were so small and expensive for the size and had an average taste. The shakes were OK but so small, like made for toddlers. Disappointing. You don't need to make huge burgers like what Lucky Boy offers; you need a decent size, though, for the money. We ate our food then were hungry again a short while later. I can't recommend this place. Luckily, The Habit Burger Grill opened near us, and it's a far better deal. Veggie Shack The Veggie Shack was really good I also added lettuce and tomato to my sandwich. The crispy onion strips made it a little salty. The overall taste and light texture was very good. Decided to come here with my parents since they have never been to Shake Shack. Arrived around 1:45 pm on Monday. Tried to place an order through the app for pick up and kept getting an error message. Walked up to the window and asked the team member if I could place an order at the window. She told me to hold on a sec while she checked on something. When she came back, she told me they weren't accepting any new orders because "their system was down". This place is the worst fast food place so far. They take averagely 25 minutes per order from start to finish so if there are 3 peoples in line it means you won't get your order for an hour. Also, they will mess up your order so always double check. Actually, don't even go there, more expensive than In-out and they treat customers like trash. I was such a Shake Shack fan, always went to the Manhattan Beach Location, love it. However, my visit at the Pasadena location was horrible. Service grumpy, waiting time looong and the food was not even mediocre, in-n-out is better but at a fraction of the price. I never went crazy for their curly fries since they are always very uneven fried and absorb 3x more fat hence the bigger surface. However, I always went because of the burgers. I returned to the Pasadena location on Sunday. This was a follow-up after my first unfortunate experience at the restaurant. I was hoping for better (much better), what I experienced on my second visit was worse than the first...actually much worse. For this visit I used the app. My hope is that it would help eliminate the problems I had with the first visit (lack of organization, subpar food quality etc.). I placed the order and the app indicated a time my food would be ready. I arrived and waited before going to the window. About 5 minutes after the time indicated on the email I went to the area where you pick up food. It was textbook disorganization. Folks waiting all over the place...no real order to the process. That was bad enough...but what occurred inside the restaurant was the most disturbing. I witnessed what appeared to be the manager, pick up hands full of french fries and divvy them up into containers. This was in the open and no wonder the fries tasted crappy...all the handling and then leaving them to sit uncovered...explains the awful taste. But it gets even worse. Staff were placing some glop ( I assume dressing or some other substance) in small containers..near the front... then food would sit until they finally brought it out front for pick up. All of this was actually disgusting to witness. BY this time, I am about 10 minutes past the pickup time on my receipt. I asked the associate the status...I mentioned it had been 10 minutes. At this point the gentlemen standing next to me said, "It's only been 10 minutes, you're lucky!" Horrific, in a word. Finally, about 20 minutes after the time the food was scheduled to be ready I received a text. (I was already standing there). I mentioned I was ther4e and received the text. There was at least another 5 minute wait after the text was received. When I opened the food (bout 5 minutes later), the fries were cold, stale, burger was same. The shake I order with whipped cream was cream colored liquid. I guess my original comments stand. I realize that Covid has caused many "innovations" in order to make a business viable. However, this establishment needs to reevaluate its management and training. (sorry, but that's what I see.) I suspect if you were to poll customers at least 45% would agree (and I am being quite conservative.) I take no pleasure in writing this...But this "establishment" requires attention to hopefully get better...I stand by my words. I think we all could say shake shack is pretty delicious. This review is more about one of their employees named Joseph, his customer service was above and beyond. Greeted everyone and when he wasn't taking customers orders he was wiping down tables and asking customers if they needed anything else. With COVID and all the craziness going on right now Joseph really made my family and I, feel really good about eating out again. Kindness goes a long way. Shake shack if you read this please know Joseph deserves a raise and a employee of the year. My opinion customer service is one of the biggest reasons that brings me back to a business. read more

So disappointed in my visit with Shake Shack today. I have been to many locations and this location did not live up to their standards. It also ruined my love for Shake Shack. We had the ShackBurger, the bourbon bacon burger, and the Smoke Shack. I would order each again but the Smoke Shack was my favorite--the peppers were a great twist that added a complex flavor. I love Shake Shack and now there's finally one closer to home than Glendale! My go to order is the Shroom burger and cheese fries. Some locations have peanut butter sauce which is weirdly good-- try it if you can! If not, ketchup is good too. I recently tried their pumpkin shake & it tasted just like a creamy yummy pumpkin pie! Unfortunately, with new locations, it takes time to get things down. I tried going on the weekend & the line was down the street. We came back on Wednesday & there was only a few people in line. Food still took quite some time to come out so I can only imagine the wait on the weekend. My shroom burger was also not as melty as it usually is. The cheese seemed almost congealed so maybe it wasn't fried all the way through to warm up the cheese inside completely? It still tasted good just didn't hit as hard. The burgers are also relatively small. Although a nice change from In N Out, the $20 tab for the 2 burgers and a small shake is not as easy to swallow. I was so excited to hear about Shake Shack opening up in Pasadena!!! WOOO! So much closer to us but, can never forget Glendale location! Basically, the food is great and delicious and the service is top notch. This location is on the smaller size for sure. There is outdoor seating in their little front patio area. There were two different lines and I wasn't too sure why. One line was towards the back and it was much longer. Another line was facing their front door and as my boyfriend and I were walking up to meet our friends, a staff member held the door for us asking if we were ready to order and to head inside. I let her know our friends ordered for us. There wasn't anyone behind us either so there wasn't a line to order there at that moment. On their app, online/mobile ordering wasn't available when I checked a few days ago but it could've changed when we went that Sunday. So maybe that other long line was for phone/mobile orders! I'd always check their app to see. I tried calling this location too to check, but it went to Managers Office. I just wanted to put a spotlight on their Covid-19 regulations. They have a staff member always cleaning their tables right after another party has left. A staff member cleaned our table and chairs throughly after a group left, and also let us know if we need anything to always let them know. I noticed that one party sat down after a couple left the table when they finished eating and a staff member cleaned their table and seats still and didn't just let it slide that they sat down immediately. Another party wanted to sit down but the tables weren't big enough... and I believe they had asked if they could move the table. Every table has a sign saying to not move said table because it's been measured out for social distancing. Eventually I'm sure they figured it out since I wasn't paying attention anymore but ultimately, all of these regulations really helped my anxiety of eating out. I am so excited that Shack Shake opened in SGV. Before, I used to drive to Glendale every time I craved it. If you want a big, greasy, heavy, delicious burger with lots of cheese and a giant portobello mushroom, then look no further. The app experience leaves a lot to desire. I downloaded the app because I heard it was a smoother process than waiting forever in line to order. However, the app kept glitching and saying either there was a problem with my order or the restaurant is closed. After multiple tries I gave up and just called the restaurant. They informed me that 1) they do not accept phone orders and 2) their app only allows 5 incoming orders every 15 minutes. I feel like that is extraordinarily limiting for an ordering app especially one of a popular chain like shake shack. So given that I'm a determined burger eating individual, I went to order and wait in person. Not surprising, it's crowded since they just opened. Their service is amazing though! There are clearly marked stickers on the ground for people to stand. Someone was at the door to let people in and out to make sure there's only one party inside ordering at a time. The person who was taking our order was so incredibly helpful and friendly. There's a pick up window outside so people don't have to keep going in and out. This place is hands down the most covid safe restaurant I have gotten take out at! The only issue I had about cleanliness was that I saw they let in some people without a mask to order. Love the food here. Always hot and delicious. The substitutes are exactly what you want for a burger and the cheese fries are what we come for. The French fries are perfect with the right ridges and crunch to every bite. Crinkle fries are everything, then adding that cheese doesn't get better then that. Ordered shake shack delivery from Postmates today because I was craving their portobello mushroom burger. I also got one of their holiday themed shakes (the peppermint marshmallow flavor!) to avoid the small cart minimum fee. I also had to add avocado to my burger to get the fee waived. The burger unfortunately wasn't as good as it is in store taking into account delivery time. The usually crispy mushroom was a little soggy on the outside and the cheese in the center that's usually runny was a lump in the center. The shake was pretty melted by the time it got to me too. It would be great if they could implement some insulated packaging for the shake or some holes in the top of their to-go burger boxes to prevent the steam from making the burger and bun soggy. read more
