I stopped by briefly to get a burger to go at the end of a brewery crawl. I noticed that the establishment was busy with a lot of takeout orders and GrubHub. I ordered a basic burger only. It took a good 15 minutes to get the Burger after ordering. One of the young men upfront who is handling the to go orders was friendly and appear to be watching for my order. Once I got the burger I tried it and was satisfied with the taste. It was juicy but a bit salty. Overall satisfying. I was surprised at how salty it was. Definitely a busy place to go on the weekends! Staff is friendly and do their best trying to keep tables clean as people shuffle in and out. My Granddaughter insisted that it was the best burger ever...I would say it was average. Their imitation of the AJ Bombers shroom burger didn't meet the challenge, mushroom was tough, the sauce was bitter and the burger was small. The fries were cold and burnt. The service was good, the food take out presentation was not so good. The burgers were not fully wrapped but placed inside the bag. I like my burgers fully wrapped to go. Ordered a ShackBurger and fries mid-afternoon. There were 8 people working, I came up with no one in line, one person waiting for their order. Granted team was working on some OLO and third-party delivery but was not overwhelming. I waited for 21 minutes after placing my order to get served my food. The funny thing was on the ticket, the upper right-hand corner had a time... which was 3 minutes prior to when I was given my order. Not sure if the order was hung up in the system, or possibly to improve wait times order was not released or forgotten about. I try to avoid chains of any type like the plague but walking around the Third Ward with 4 starving kids clamoring for Shake Shack left us no choice. And I must admit, they put out a good burger. I ordered the SmokeShack-topped with bacon, cherry peppers, and shacksauce (which I still have not idea what it is). Served on a potato bun, it did the trick. Well season with the smokiness of the bacon and the heat of the peppers coming though on each bite. It was even better paired up by their large house beer (and with 4 kids, definitely needed!). My main reason for this review is to highlight the cashier who assisted us tonight (5/9 - 9:30 PM) - she was the SWEETEST cashier I have had in a long time - at any restaurant. The service at this Shake Shack is usually nice but normal customer service nice. The young woman tonight was stellar. I wish I had caught her name. Came here for lunch with some coworkers. I have to admit my expectations were low as I generally find chains disappointing. Not the case here. I got tHe Smoke Shack. The burger was really good and not over cooked. The bacon was perfectly crisp and I really liked the cherry peppers. The bun was soft and fresh. I snagged a few fries from one of my teammates and was equally pleased with them. They were crinkle cut and fried to a perfect crisp, with just enough salt. I will definitely be back! read more

I don't mind if you're talking to pass the time but it was the lack of attention to customers waiting on food. They also got my order wrong but I didn't notice until I got home. I have tried the burgers at shake shack before and they are amazing so when I heard about their limited edition Korean menu I knew I had to try! First we tried the Korean fried Chicken sandwich it had a white kimchi slaw on it and it was really good you could definitely taste the sesame flavor which is very Korean. The kimchi was nice and not too intense, kind of mild flavor but good! Next we tried the nuggets with the gochujang sauce and I would say those were my favorite! The sauce was super good and the chicken was really delicious, the breading kind of fell off of them as you dipped but still very tasty. Only downside to all of this is that, none of it comes as a meal. you have to order each component of a regular meal separately. Now of course, there are many burger places where you do have to do this, so why am i harking on this place? cause this place is a chain. and they should know better, though thats not the fault of this particular shake shack, its more on the fault of the corporate bigwigs. but i digress, this location is nice and clean. there wasn't a line today, so i was able to get my order in quickly and they got my order out just as fast. I ordered the smokeshack with cheese fries and a lemonade. If i knew they had a water dispenser i probably wouldn't have ordered the lemonade. The Lemonade was your typical lemonade, nothing about it stands out over all the other lemonades you could get anywhere. Ok now just because I'm giving it a 4 vs 5 star rating doesn't mean not to try this place. The only reason I'm literally dinging it a point is because I've been to other places where the prices are similar to Shake Shack and their burgers/sandwiches are way bigger. Other then the price which I'm sure is pretty common at all Shake Shacks this place is amazing. I'll first off say the staff at this location is spectacular. Past 2 times that I've been there the whole entire staff was in an upbeat mood and with great energy. Whenever you're done eating with your food if the staff is nearby they'll ask how your food was, take your tray and do the cleaning all for you. It's not just that, some of the staff legitimately care about your opinion, try to build up conversation (if you're up for it because I know some people just want to eat their food and leave like not all but some of my friends) and will joke around with you to have a nice, enjoyable experience. Now when it comes to the food I've got. The first time I went I got the SmokeShack Single Burger and a Shackcago Dog. Both were phenomenal and I'd get both again. Even though I've had cheaper Chicago dogs in Chicago I'd still get this one again because it tasted so great. The 2nd time I went which will be relating to the picture I post, I got the SmokeShake Single Burger again, the Chick'n Shack sandwich and a cookies and cream shake (isn't on their normal menu), I'm not sure if it's a seasonal item because it was being advertised on one of their Digital Advertisements in the store before you reach the register. The SmokeShack single Burger was just as great the 2nd time if not better and the Chick'n Shack sandwich was just as good. The milkshake was pretty thick, thick to a point it was hard for me to drink it from a straw at one point and I had to wait but it was so worth it. From all the products I've tried here I don't think I have any gripes when it comes to taste whatsoever. Shake Shack hits it out of the park. Just to finish things off the Smokeshack Burger is a Cheeseburger with all-natural smoked Niman Ranch bacon, chopped cherry pepper, ShackSauce (shacksauce is sooo good), then you can choose how many beef patties you want. The staff even told us they have secret menu items like the quad which is 4 patties (don't know I'd ever do that but my hats off to you if you do). The Chick'n Shack is a sandwich with a Crispy chicken breast with lettuce, pickles, buttermilk herb mayo. If you're ever on the fence of trying this place I'd definitely recommend trying it at least once! I needed to check this place out because it is so wide known. I've heard claims it's better than In N Out (and I really like InNOut). After my experience I would say that is extremely false. Money wise this was expensive. $25 dollars for 1 burger, 1 chicken sandwich, 2 fries with a side of cheese and a black and white shake. The sandwiches were small. About the size of a cookout at your friends house. The chicken sandwich was excellent, but the size of the sammy was not worth the price tag attached. I love anything with shredded lettuce on it, so it got an automatic win. Great fried breading and a thick bun. The burger was good. Ish. There were some parts were I winced as I got pure salt seasoning. It was a little pink in the middle, which I dont mind but some might. The fries were great. Crinkle cut, not culvers style crinkle but more extreme crinkle cut. The cheese was weird. It wasn't nacho cheese. It got that weird cheese layer on top and was super thick and extra creamy. It was like cheese you would put on mac'n'cheese. The shake was good. It better be the best item if that is what your restaurant is named after. I stopped in here recently for a repeat visit and two shakes, one burger, and fries still came out to something like $25. One of my beliefs in life is "don't believe the hype". Shake Shack is exactly why that belief is a credo. However, there are some good points here too. Here's the rundown: Pros: - This is one of the few fast food places I have been in that appears to be fully staffed to meet the needs of the customers. Both registers working, lots of people clearing and cleaning, full line cooks. Nice! - Staff appear to be trained in customer service - everyone was friendly, and patiently answered many questions. The vibe is upbeat and fun. This is a sign of strong management - great job! - There are gluten free options. The pies are sourced from a local restaurant. The menu is large and easy to read without being overwhelming. Fantastic! - When I called to see if my lost car keys (unrelated) had been left, I received a personal call back from the manager within 2 hours. Amazing! Cons: - Burgers and shakes. Nothing noteworthy. The burgers are tasty, but little. Smaller than a kid-sized butter burger at Culvers. Cheaper too, but not gourmet. Shakes are a rational size, but also are pretty standard fare. I've ordered the chocolate on two occasions. Good, but only good. Basically, I hope they stay open - the space looks good, and anything that draws more folks to spend money in downtown Milwaukee is a good thing. Didn't live up to the hype for me, if I'm honest. The food was good enough. Similar to Culvers in terms of quality, if not exactly the same flavors at work. I tried the Smoke Stack; the bacon was kinda mehhhh, but the peppers they put on there were a little sweet and made the whole experience better. I also tried to lemonade. It was pretty good lemonade! My friend's experience wasn't quite as good. She said the mushroom patty on her burger was undersalted and just kinda tasted like fried matter. She also didn't enjoy her salted caramel shake. I gave it a try, and I thought it was pretty good, but it didn't taste like salted caramel; It would be damn good advertised as more of a butterscotch flavor, though. The service was....ehhhh. It might have been a bad night. My friend and I ordered one-after-the-other at side-by-side registers, but there was a huge difference in the amount of time it took to make. We figured it out when we looked at our receipts. I got number #33 (or something like that), and she had something like #45, despite having ordered at practically the same time. The two registers were in the same series of numbers, but staggered by...several. The kitchen, however, appeared to be making all of the orders in numerical order. In effect, if you were lucky enough to get called up to the left register, you got your food faster. Way faster. Like 15 minutes difference. Makes for an awkward time if you're dining with someone and not paying together. Oh, and her food wasn't even close to ready when her buzzer started going off. It actually had time to automatically shut off it took so long once she was standing up there. All in all, I thought it was not bad, but pretty pricey for what it actually is. Shake shack has taught me that I am capable of devouring 2 burgers within about 6 minutes give or take a few seconds. There's no race to finish, but once you take a bite there's just no turning back. Buttery, juicy, slightly crispy and if you add the hot peppers like I do, you might just get hooked. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because this location in particular has been very slow & unresponsive to orders I've made in the past. Specfically to orders I've made online with the expectation that I would be able to grab my order within minutes and be on my way, but that hasn't always been the case. I waited until the initial crowd died down; and stopped in yesterday for an early dinner. First, the location is ideal. There are not a lot of fast casual restaurants in that area, and The Shack is a great fit. The food? Solid, but not mind blowing. The burgers reminded me a lot of Culver's or Five Guys. They were good, but not worth the hype. Same for the fries. But the real stand out for me; was the salted caramel shake. That was ah-mazing. But ah-mazing enough for me to want to go back? Probs not.
