Shakin crabs disappointed because I thought the preparation of the crabs were a little off. They came out in a bag full of seasonings. Not quite what I'm used to. I also found the fried dishes to be a bit greasy. Service was okay. I thought the prices were about average as well. All in all a very lackluster option for dining. The jury is still out as to whether I will return again. Since it's a new place, growing pains are to be expected. Overall, the food was just ok. I think they need to work on seasoning for their fried dishes. I ordered the catfish strips basket (cut into 4 strips and not a whole catfish), shrimp basket and wings. As I said the flavor was ok but what was most notable was that everything was very greasy. If I return it may be to try the steamed shrimp and crab legs. I also ordered some items to go and they were not very generous with the condiments like tartar sauce, ketchup etc. I had to ask twice to get another mini container. I was also not give plastic utensils or napkins with my order. They have some work to do but for now, the jury is still out. read more

This restaurant has to be the worst example in terms of customer service that I have experienced. The first time that I took my family there we had to wait about 45 minutes before we were seated. While waiting we watched the hostess leave while mouthing a few expletives as she stormed out the door. Once seated we saw many seats that were empty. I decided to call in to carry out on our next experience. There was no wait when we arrived to pick up the food but once we got home we discovered that the oyster meal was replaced with shrimp. I am highly allergic to shrimp. The manager refused to make proper amends to resolve their mistakes. The food I will give a "C". Customer service, a solid "F". read more

Very good food. I ordered the fried shrimp basket. We had a large table with 2 servers. The server on our side took our drink orders and never brought our drinks until the other server reminded her after the other side of our party had been served their drinks. I'm not sure if she was training or had too many tables. Other than that everything was great! I will be back again. read more

I want here with my daughter. I was confused because everything that was brought to the table was in inflated bags. The shrimp Etc came in hot inflated clear plastic bags. I don't know if it was microwaved I have no idea they showed me one of their blue crabs that was so small it was a joke. Very expensive I will never go back! read more

We're former New Englanders who've had plenty of seafood, up and down the coast. All I could think of is Kitchen Nightmares TV show - it's not that the basic quality of the seafood we had was bad (oysters, shrimp, king or snow crab - can't remember, onion rings). But the oil and seasoning was BLAND - look, just dumping some salad oil and Old Bay onto steamed seafood doesn't make for a tasty sauce. The onion rings were like just dipped in flour and fried and tasted like flour-covered onions. I was internally screaming for more lemon and garlic and BUTTER and spices. A shame because my shrimp were big and meaty. Awful but my Dad and I were laughing about it. If you want a greasy plastic bag of bland seafood where hot pepper is used to try to cover the blandness, this is your place. This place needs a new chef who has discovered the wonders of minced garlic, but we won't be back. read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY! Went there for mother's day. No special requests, just ordered menu items. There was only 4 of us but it took an Hr+ to get our food. The server never "checked" on us, no apologies, no refills and then was told by the host (because our server disappeared) that we can't use a coupon cause it was mother's day. Still no apologies or compensation of any kind from any of the 4 staff members we encountered. Food was decent but nothing special. DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE COMING BACK OR RECOMMENDING TO ANYONE! We went there on Saturday around 6:30pm. The place was about 80% full, so we got seated right away. We ordered raw oysters, shrimp basket, calamari basket, king crab legs, snow crab legs with shakin crab sauce. Everything was delicious. The shakin sauce was exceptional ! We definitely recommend this place to all seafood lovers. The price is reasonable (not super expensive nor cheap) - no complaints. My kids love to write on the walls. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We have been there 3 times and the food is always amazing!! Perfectly steamed crabs and shrimp and the perfect family atmosphere. The food was exceptional. I had clams and mussels with the seasoning combo and my wife had fried shrimp with fries. The freshness and favor was really great. The atmosphere and way it is served make it fun for all and especially families.. and groups of people wanting to watch a game or just hang out... They should have their ABC license soon and that will make all the difference for groups and after working hours enjoyment. The owner is attentive and will into make adjustments..... Our only recommendation is include seafood related deserts... Key Lime Pie, Cheesecake,Pudding. The place is a hit. Go and enjoy. read more

My husband and I actually really enjoyed our meals. He had the softshell platter and we shared shrimp in mild cajun seasoning. I definitely think they will need to work on the menu: more vegetable sides, including a garden salad, plus a kids' menu is needed. On our visit, our kids mostly ate sweet potato fries. We loved the seasoning but if you have anyone in your group who doesn't like a little spice, it will be hard to find something they will eat for an entree. I'm sure things will improve with time. We will give it another try in the future, and hopefully by then it will have some more kid-friendly options. read more

Shaking Crab - 1.5 Stars. Service sucked - very slow - had to ask 3 times for a fork. Do not get the clams - a pound is about 2 tablespoons of clam. The sausage is kielbasa with no spice and the onion rings were tasteless. I am not impressed! read more

The food was actually quite delicious, but the service was horrible. It started great, but then our server just never really came back after we got out drinks. Someone else brought our food, and we had to ask them for condiments. They brought a couple of containers of butter (though three of us ordered King crab legs) and then we could get no one's attention at all. We finally had to go to the kitchen to ask for ketchup, vinegar and Old Bay, and then again to ask for a drink refill (which never came), and then again to ask for our check. Our server was standing near the back, yawning. It was really a shame. I know they just opened and we were totally willing to work with the server not knowing the menu, not knowing what drinks they had and not being super quick. But, to just ditch us and have us get up to find people to ask for each thing we needed hen we paid about $150 for two adults and two children left us feeling less than appreciated. read more

this is solely regarding the food, my husband and i have eaten 7 plus pounds of crawfish in one sitting before so we are crawfish eaters to say the least. we were in the area for krispy kreme's so we thought we grab a couple pounds to go just since we were there and might as well try it. we got home and we started right away, unfortunately we didn't even end up finishing one pound of crawfish together. we were done. first of all the crawfish seemed frozen, dry, chewy and texture was strange. secondly it was bland yet lots and lots of black pepper or something and then there was gigantic raw garlic pieces , and i love garlic cooked so that was disappointing, what's the point of putting garlic in if it's not gonna get cooked for the flavor to come out. but the food was edible i guess.... maybe just not for us. we prefer live crawfish and if it's not live as least mention it so we can decide if we still want it or not, but flavor is a big deal for us and this place just didn't cut it. read more

Went last night to eat at the Shakin Crab. Place was clean and someone seated me right away. When I asked what was recommended here, the waiter called someone else and he explained everything what was available. We came with a voucher and he explained in details what was advantageous for us to get. My friend ordered the fried Tilapias with cocktail sauce and extra order of corn and French fries. He liked everything. I had problems deciding to get the crawfish or the shrimp and ended up ordering the shrimp with heads on with a combination of all 3 seasoning, mild. When my order came, I was pleasantly surprised that I was given both the shrimp and crawfish. The seasoning was delicious, different from Chasin' Tails but also very tasty. I was glad I also ordered extra corn, because they were excellent. The shrimp were quite large and more important, they were also not overcooked and were sweet and juicy, and with the seasoning they were delicious. I ate some of my friends' French fries and they were also good. I forgot to mention the pop corn that we received while waiting for our food, and I like them too, maybe because we were hungry? But we finished them all. We were late, because we could not find it easily since we do not live in Manassas. We definitely are coming back, maybe to get crabs when they are in season, or more shrimp and crawfish, even without a voucher, I will recommend this restaurant to my friends who like seafood. wanted to go here before i left to go back to maine and i went tonight with my mom, and it was really good. i wasn't excepting it to be what the reviews said but it was. i got the baby clams and mussels combo with the shakin' sauce medium and it was so good. i'm really glad i went here tonight before i leave tomorrow. if you ever are near here you should definitely go!! read more
