I would say I was very displeased with my meal. I got the sweet potato fries ($4) and the Cajun wings ($9). The fries are skinny and cold, and without much flavor and the wings are over fried (should probably have been grilled or baked). They reminded me of KFC wings or something out of a fast food place. Definitely not wings you would get from a typical seafood restaurant. They also gave us no napkins and one ketchup and one cocktail sauce container. I would say that the chef should probably get a second opinion or go over the menu again. read more

Went there today, Memorial Day, and it was delicious again. We shared the special, with 1 lb. Of each: crab legs, crawfish, mussels, and shrimp, plus potatoes sausage, and corn. We asked for Shakin sauce, hot, but on the side. They did that, but charged $2.50 bc it was on the side which doesn't make sense, but oh well. That was my only negative, and it's not really a complaint. The seafood was properly cooked and Chase took great care of us. This is the best spot in Manassas for real deal seafood! We are usually a little leery of strip mall restaurants, but after eating here twice we are totally hooked. The first time I tried the steamed combo with Old Bay that included crab legs, shrimp, smoked sausage, corn on the cob and potatoes. It was delicious and unfortunately I ate every single piece (it's a lot of food) and could barely walk out. The second time I ordered the same thing but steamed only, no seasoning, and it was still delicious and cooked perfectly. I was happy to see the restaurant was packed and is doing a good business. Very short wait time - it's a pretty big place. They also have blue crab, and a great craft beer menu. My only complaint is that they don't serve real butter. When you are eating crab especially, real butter is the only thing that cuts it. I would offer it and maybe at an up-charge if it is more expensive than margarine. Other than that, we will be back! Visiting from San Antonio, we met some family members, (we grew up eating great seafood), and we were all so happy with our meals!! This is excellently prepared seafood, and fantastic service. Our server, Jade, was personable, professional and had a great sense of humor! We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My local family will be returning, while I will have to wait for my next visit! I received a coupon in the mail so I thought I would check this place out. When you first walk in, it is unclear if you are supposed to seat yourself or wait for a server, there was no one at the front to greet us, but it is a casual looking place so I didnt worry about it. Eventually, someone came to seat us and he was very nice. We ordered the specials and my son had the kids fried shrimp, which by the way isnt very much food, It was 4 seemingly unseasoned fried shrimp and a handful of french fries. However, the shrimp and crab legs were delicious, as were the sides. The reason I am giving two stars is because our service was absolutely horrible. When we ordered our food I ask our server for a knife so I could cut the corn off of the cob for my daughter. But once she brought out our food she never came back again until we were finished. She didn't come back to ask if we needed more drinks, or to see if our food was ok, or to bring the knife I asked for. Once my son and I finished eating I took him to the bathroom, and that is when our server decided to come to the table. So she came to the table to check on my two older children. When she came to bring the check I asked her if this was a full service restaurant, and she didnt understand what I meant. So I explained to her how disappointed I was with the service, and didn't understand why she didn't check on us once. She said I did come back, and I replied, yes you checked on the table once we were finished, but never during our meal, and you checked in on my children, but not with me, the paying customer.Then she said she is really swamped and she is the only one in the restaurant. The problem with that statement is, there were only 7 tables in the restaurant that were occupied, and there was definitely another server. I know this because one, she was serving the table sitting behind us, and two our server I guess was too uncomfortable to come back to my table, so she sent the other server to bring back my credit card. Now if the bad service was truly because they were understaffed (which they werent) she should have sent a manager to my table to explain that. The food was very good, but when I go out, I go out for the service, and my service was so poor, I am unlikely to return. read more

First and foremost they do not serve any alcohol. The oysters were tiny and the smallest I have ever seen especially for the price. The dinner comes in a bag (weird) huge mess. My server had never heard of horseradish. And they are not at all child friendly. No kids menu, no smaller cups, nothing, very high priced for mediocre food at best, also the hostess was texting the entire time, and the floor is so slick you almost fall...Could have gotten a giant meal at red lobster with a cocktail to boot for the price... read more

We went on a Friday night around 5:30pm. The place was not packed but as we ate dinner, more people came in. This was our first visit so we did not know what to expect. John was our server and he was very nice. He carefully explained the menu and the specials. They offer blue crabs males & females but it was the end of the season so they had only males, king crab legs, baby clams, oysters, & mussels. Both of us went with the shrimp with the Shakin' Sauce. It is a combination of all 3 flavors-cajun, lemon pepper & garlic butter. Let me tell you how fantastic this flavor it. They don't use garlic powder. The use real chopped garlic. It made a HUGE difference in the flavor!! I will definitely get this again. I wanted to drink it!! My husband got corn and I got a potato. I also got sweet potato fries. They were really good as well. Just to give a heads up-you will get your hands messy. There is no way around it. But that's ok cause the food is that good. We went to night and ordered Crabs which they said were medium but they were small, Calamari tasted like frozen kind I could and have made at home. Fried oysters which I love and they tasted nothing like oysters - hush puppies were good. Steamed shrimp well it was like it was frozen once and just very rubbery. Ok small rant!! Went to this place tonight to enjoy seafood. Waited about 10 minutes to get seated while the entire staff were oblivious to our presence. THEN a waiter finally seated us after getting up from having dinner with his kid. The girl perceived by us to be our waitress was more interested in cleaning her 2 tables instead of waiting on a new guest more revenue for the restaurant in my eyes. Went there for Mother's Day and once again the service & food was awesome!! I was happy to see the specials were available which worked out for everyone at our table. My daughter and I raved about this place the first time we came back in December. Holy crap, this place is delicious! Just got back from filling my belly with their delicious Special #1 - a 1/2 lb of snow crab legs, 1/2 lb of headless shrimp, 1/2 lb of sausage and a potato and piece of corn in the Shakin hot sauce. All that deliciousness only cost $22!! Also got the Cajun fries and hush puppies as sides. Gotta say, as a hush puppy connoisseur, those were some of the best I've ever had! WARNING! We were contacted by the Manassas City Police dept about a waitress at Shakin' Crab who has been changing the tip amount on credit cards. In our case she changed a 7.00 tip to 9.00. I cannot express how disappointed and horrified I am that this took place. I liked the food at Shakin' Crab and even enjoyed the service this waitress provided. Really great seafood! Went here over the weekend with my bestie and we had a great experience. I ordered the crab legs and shrimp and within about 20 minutes our orders arrived hot and steaming. The crab legs and shrimp came with red skinned potatoes and corn on the cob all in the bag together. Me and a friend came here on a Friday afternoon a little before 1pm. The place was mostly empty except for a party of 8 that looked like mainly college kids. We both ordered a pound of shrimp. I chose a potato as my side and threw in an order of onion rings; friend chose the corn cobb and an order of fries. I opted for the shakin' sauce and she had garlic butter. Our meals were FANTASTIC! They cook everything in a single bag, so your veggie absorbs the seafood seasoning you choose (also made cleanup easy because we just put the shrimp tails back in our bags). I highly recommend the Shakin' Sauce! My onion rings were a generous portion and cooked perfectly. They had a nice light, crisp breading, like tempura, so it isn't heavy at all. Not greasy either! My friend didn't realize the fries were seasoned (she dislikes seasoned fries), but even she said they were delicious. Shrimp sizes were perfect, price was very reasonable for what you get and service was awesome. The young lady that served us was sweet and attentive. Potato was a little on the small side, but who am I kidding? The focus was definitely on the seafood and we both enjoyed it immensely. I ate a whole pound of shrimp, onion rings and finished off the remainder of my friend's fries. Felt like such a stuffed pig walking out of that place and only sucked down water for the rest of the day due to the salt content, but will gladly do it all over again. Also, I will mention that you don't have to eat there to enjoy the seafood. From what we were told, you can place orders over the phone and pick it up. When we first walked in, I was struck by the fact that there were only three tables with people seated & A big empty room full of empty tables. That's not a good sign. Food really had no flavor, they serve it in a plastic bag that they just plop down in the middle of the table. There was no atmosphere, no music playing, prices were pretty high for what you get. I'm not sure what was wrong with the seafood, maybe it had been frozen but it had no flavor. Also "steamed" is your only option For how anything is prepared. Even the hush puppies were lame.
