I've been coming to Shakra's since I was a kid. The place is a staple of Jensen beach and serve amazing subs. The place is a little off the beaten path, but totally worth it. We love coming here and getting a hot Italian with all the fixings and take it to the beach. A must stop for traveling through Martin County, Jensen Beach, or Stuart. The owners are great people as well. Family owned and run, they are coming up on 50 years-after eating here, or getting a sub to go to the beach-you will see why. I had recently been introduced to the deli and thought their food was good and the service was good too. I had gone to the deli on a Sunday before my shift at work and got there at 3:30 knowing they close at 4. When I opened the door it was closed. A young bearded man was inside cleaning the grill station. Meanwhile another woman had pulled up. I knocked on the door and the young man ignored me as he busily cleaned his station ignoring us. I was truly disgusted. If a deli is supposed to be open till 4 it should not close it's doors at 3:30 so the staff can leave at 4. This deli boasts of great service but clearly did not walk the talk on that Sunday. There was a great Vietnamese restaurant next door and I went there. So there you have it a deli that boasts great service since 1972 turned away 2 customers a half hour before it was supposed to close and a grill cook with a beard who ignored us as he went about closing up shop. read more

Have been going to Shakras for about eight years and must say they have some of the best subs/hoagies I have ever had. Creative menu and quality food. I thought one of their best kept secrets were their wings. They had a unique flavor and were ALWAYS consistent; something hard to find in Florida. However, something changed on my latest visit. I don't recall the wings being coated in sauce in previous years (seemed like they didn't get "sauced" after being cooked); but on this visit they were. The sauce recipe had changed and it was very mediocre; even though I ordered Medium there seemed to very little "kick" to them and were delivered lukewarm. Overall, this is a great place for a casual meal with great food. My latest experience wasn't the best; but I will continue to visit Shakra's and recommend it to anyone. read more

Places like Shakra's make life worth living for me. The sandwiches are great, served with steak fries, and they're just a stroll from the water. Try the hot italian, the house specialty. Jeff Shakra has been making sandwiches here since 1972. But don't picture some old guy putting lettuce in a bun. Shakra's is decorated with muscle-busting photographs of Jeff's days as a bodybuilder. Nay, the place is a shrine, really. And you've got to picture Jeff after a life of tanning and protein shakes. He's like a big brother that always looked out for you and maybe beat you up now and then, too. The sandwiches are tasty and consistent, and places with personality like this are all too rare these days. All you need to know about Shakra's is that corporate chain sub-shop Quiznos opened up a block from Shakra's with the goal of putting Jeff out of business, but it worked the other way around--it's the Quiznos with the "Space for Lease" sign in the window. read more

I've been coming around to this area for 15 yrs, ever since Shakra's was in it's previous location, and I make it down here about once a year, Shakra's is a mandatory stop. Hands down some of the best sandwiches in this country! I don't say something like that lightly. If it's your first time get the RBS, as far as I'm concerned, it's their crown jewel. I've been going to Shakra's since they were located in Rio and the dad ran the place. We went to Jensen Beach this weekend and planned Shakra's as a first stop. We were running late so I called at 4:45PM to order two subs to go for 5:00PM and was told by a young girl that everything was turned off and put away and they were not taking any more orders. This was so out-of-character for this place because the owners have always gone way of their way to provide great service and wonderful "Roast Beef Supremes." One bad experience in 35 years is really a good record so I still give them 5 stars. They need to train that young girl though. read more

We have a vacation house in Jensen beach , we been here about 2 years now. My friends from Jensen said go to this place because they have the best subs..... sorry friends, it's far from that. I have to take my Jensen beach friends to New York and New Jersey and get them a sub so they have something to compare it to lol. It wasn't expensive, I think under $10.00 a sub so I'm not going to say it was a total rip off but when I got to the beach and opened up the plastic baggy and looked at this thing , we just laughed. I ordered ham , salami and provolone with lettuce onions extra oil and vinegar... for some reason the sandwich made no sense to this guy so I got something similar ~ when I got to the beach and actually looked , I got 2 slices of roast beef I think a slice of salami and a hint of provolone with a ton of lettuce and I think I tasted some oil and vinegar on this large hotdog roll.... it was like a bad subway sandwich. I will try this place one more time because everyone has a bad day and I'm hoping that this was just a really bad day for this place. Hopefully they'll have actual Italian bread and ham... more meat and cheese less ... way less lettuce and lose the soft bun type bread, seriously bro. One of the best sub shops in the Jensen area, without a doubt. This family owned spot knows how to do a hoagie right- none of that rubbery bread drowned in mayo that you find at certain sandwich shop chains. The portions here are huge! I can typically make two meals out of one sub, which makes an already great deal even better. The turkey sub special (I think on Tuesdays?) is out of this world. The staff here is so friendly and intent on making you happy. If you haven't tried this spot out you have to, you will not be disappointed. read more

We have been going here for years and everyone loved the RBS! When they were in the downtown Jensen Beach location, the service and food were great! However, the last few times we've been there, the food and service have declined. The roast beef on the RBS has been cold, cheese barely melted and the bun burnt. Also, the servers give the impression that you are bothering them the moment you walk in the door. The last time we were there, the one server was outside talking with friends and the person behind the counter was on a cell phone....granted it was just about closing time, but still. Make sure you call to check their hours because neither their website nor the front door are accurate. It's disappointing because we really loved this place and made a point to go there whenever we were in town. I'm not sure we will be going back again. read more

The only reason I give this restaurant a 1 is for the food. Which by the way is very good. The lack of other star rating is due to the nasty mouth female owner. She spares no expense to yell at her customers, make them feel like shit, and disrepects. As I said the food is tasty, hot and prepared well. However... If you want to enjoy the food, order, pick up and take out otherwise you will have to listen to the nastiest rudest person I have ever heard in the food industry. Don't bother with the delivery service either. No where on the menu does it say $2 delivery charge. No problem like I said the food is very good. However... On our 3 person lunch order she said I'm not going to charge you the $2 delivery fee, I'm going to charge only $1. PER PERSON The way I add it up 1x3= $3 delivery charge. Then the condiments don't come with order. In the future we will order from LaGranga ! Buyer beware, this is good food but poor ownership. read more

Have tried this place a couple of times. A decent sandwich but nothing special. Did not particularly care for the sub rolls which were too "bready" and had no taste. If I can't get past the roll then the rest of the sandwich has no chance of being better than mediocre. read more

Stopped by at 3:35 on Sunday afternoon when their sign says they are open until 4. They were locked up and we knocked on their door. The cook came out and was very discourteous and wanted to know why we knocked on the door. My husband asked why they were closed since it was only 3:35 and we did not get an answer on that. I literally made a yelp page to leave this review and in hopes that the manager/owner reasons this because I've never had worse customer service given from a server in my entire life. The red head at Shakra's Deli was the rudest employee I've come across ever. Not only was she rude the entire time while taking our order, For example when I simply asked to add one topping to a sandwich and she huffed and puffed and said " I guess so" but also while standing and waiting for our order. Saying " I guess you've learned your lesson huh" with an sarcastic attitude the whole time. All because we chose not to call in for our order. I've been to a million busy restaurants before and I don't have a problem waiting for food but I do have a problem with a server making rude remarks the entire time we're standing there. I don't understand the reason for the positive reviews. The Cheese Steak sub at Jersey Mike's is better at no greater cost. The atmosphere and attitude of the staff are, to be kind, less than inviting. And the so-called ice tea was indistinguishable from cold water both in appearance and taste.
