For the price in the greater PHX area, it's an okay little course, but it sure gets backed up. Took two and a half hours to finish the par 33 course, mixed with a par 3s and par 4s. A few reachable par 4s for the longer hitters, so that's why it slows down. The greens were quite slow, but in fair condition. Gas powered carts. It's pretty forgiving for the right handers slice. A ton of dirt and mud so bring some shoes that you're willing to get a little dirty. read more

I have read a few reviews complaining about prices and conditions. Let me explain this to you. You will get what you pay for. We have a lot of spoiled brats moving here to the valley. All they do is complain about prices and conditions. Shalimar Golf Club is a 9-hole Par33 @ 2,406 yards. Not in the best of shape, however the prices are very reasonable. Like many other 9-holes, You really need to hit the greens, or you will have to pitch up to the greens. This course is not really hard, but it's diffidently not easy. You have 3 Par-3's, and 6 Par-4's. Shalimar is a little over grown at this time. There are bare areas throughout the course. Greens are pretty decent, and for a little course like this. They offer a driving range and practice area. Right now the valley is going through a huge growth spurt. So that means properties are very valuable. Just in the last few years, I have seen three courses close down. And, there will be more to follow. So we can complain all we want, and spend out money elsewhere. However, if you do not start supporting these small courses. They will start to disappear, and then the larger courses will start charging more. Sooner or later, the only thing you will have to complain about is just prices. read more

It has been a couple years since my wife and I played Shalimar. But we decided to play last and we're glad we did. They did reseed and the coarse is in decent shape. The greens are actually really nice and smooth. It looks like they are closing Shalimar for good in April 2025 so I plan on playing there several more times before then. I've golfed at shalimar twice with a big group from work. The course is fine, though not the most well kept course in phoenix by far. The food in the clubhouse has not been very good. For the amount of money it costs to golf here, I would probably go elsewhere. read more

Well it's a golf course. We confirmed that. A walkable one at that. There aren't many fairway bushes but Jimi and his partner were sure to find every one of them with there golf balls. 9 holes only so grab yourself a Kaddie (TM) and enjoy the course. There's no terrain the Kaddie (TM) can't handle. Standing water? No problem. Mud? No problem. Sand? No problem. Putting green? No problem. Sharp incline? Nope. Dealt with an employee named Allan, Alan, Allen, etc. Allan is the rudest and most disrespectful customer service worker I have ever met in my life. He used profane terms. He showed no respect to my business. He showed me a lot of disrespectful behavior when my group turned our carts in "late", which we indeed turned them in before the required time. He tried to drive off in the cart before I retrieved all of my personal items, and gave my attitude when I tried to stop him. I love the course, the golf shop, and the patrons. Conversely, Allan has showed me the service team and employees behind Shalimar may not have the best ethics and customer service, and Allan was a prime example of that. He told me to "F*** off", after I told him to show his patrons some respect. Allan should be terminated immediately and permanently banned from the Shalimar Golf Club. read more

Went there to play some golf with some friends and family, and was a poorly maintained course, couldn't tell where the fair way was for the first hole, some of the tee boxes you couldn't tell where tee boxes and have to put pressure on your tees to even get them to stay in the ground, and the ninth hole could probably use some sorta little fence to make sure when your on the carts you don't end up in a ditch. The laid back experience and value for the money is the reason for my five star review. They offer a Groupon deal for 2 golfers, 9 holes, cart rental, hot dog and beer per person- what a steal! Reservation and check in was a breeze with friendly staff. It's only a 9-hole up to 4 par (I think) course, so it goes pretty quick. The grass isn't the best and the holes do run into each other a bit, but that's what you get for a cheaper option. The beer girl came around 3-4x times which was refreshing compared to other courses. The food was actually pretty good, I recommend the fries, and they have decent beers on tap. We will definitely be back! read more

Are you new to golf? Do you want to learn at a country club where you won't be judged on the fact that you've missed the ball the last five times you've swung the club, and you've plopped so many balls in the lake that you're having to search the bushes for old range balls to keep playing? Do you want to play golf without having to pay a large amount of money per person? How does a summer-time $20/person 9-holes plus included golf cart, beer and hot dog sound to you? Yes, the course has some dirt on it. The grass isn't plush, and it's sometimes difficult to figure out where to tee off when the footgolf tees are complicating matters. But who cares? Shalimar's one of my favorite golf courses in the Valley. You can beat up the ground and not worry about the fact that you're only 10 minutes ahead of the professional golfers creeping up behind you. Also, there's a bunch of locals who hang out at the bar sometimes and you can drink with them. Much more entertaining than most golf courses. Oh, except the water hole... I hate that hole so much. If you're a novice like me, you'll know what I'm talking about when you get there. read more

Twice now I've been turned away from playing here due to the employees being lazy and making up their own rules so they're able to go home early. The first gal told me at 6 that I couldn't get a cart because the cut off is 5:30. Then another fella in there told me at 5:16 that I couldn't get a cart. I told him I was told the cut off was 5:30 and he looked at the clock and said "actually today the cut off was 5:15." He then said that if he gave us a cart he'd have to sit around for another hour when he was planning on closing up shop and going home. The employees here are lazy and driving away business because they don't want to work their full shift. I would strongly suggest going anywhere else. read more

The owners of this place are awesome. They conrinue to come up with creative events outside of 9 hole golf. Drone races, Frisbee golf, pokemon hunting. We came here for $5 pokemon hunting and $3 beers. If you check in in Yelp free shot. They provided golf carts to all the families with young kids for free. I have read the reviews about bad service and have never experienced it. I had my bridal shower here as well. The cost was more then reasonable. I would have my next event here with the service recieved and the value for the money. read more

Cheap price. Fairways like cement. Driving range in the middle so when you play the first three holes you pick threw literally hundreds of balls on the ground! The course is not well mapped out on the e cards and the flags can't be seen! Terrible course read more

The golf is good, not great, but it is one of the last 9 hole courses I know in the area. It is nice to get a quick round in or play a summer league. They have a new chef that spent 20 years in Miami, I just had an amazing Cuban sandwich. It was the best I've had. It is definitely worth a stop, as is the other food. read more

First time playing this course, my buddy who grew up playing it took me. I guess my biggest reason for the 3 stars is price! Not sure how they come up with the pricing of $22 a person with cart for 9 holes, when the course most definitely wasn't maintained very well, greens were riddled with debris, cart paths are barely existent, etc. if this course were in the price range of other smaller courses I'd say it would be a go to spot because other then the poor maintenance it's actually a pretty cool course. But when I can go play 18 at much nicer courses like greenfield lakes, or Sunland village East, for an extra 4 bucks, it's a no brainer. read more

We live very close to Shalimar and frequently spend an afternoon at the driving range here. Everyone is so nice and friendly and it's a great neighborhood hangout. The grounds are well kept and there are plenty of trees to keep you cool. It's only $9 for a large bucket of balls for the driving range. I have to give 5 stars since this is my home course. Living around the corner is pretty convenient when you want to get a quick 9 in or even 18 if you got $4-8 for the 2nd round. The course has its issues but that should be expected for the great price you are paying, there are some dirt patches in fairways and some water spots but again, you are getting what you pay for. The holes are a mix of par 3's and 4's, some easy some challenging. I think they only have a cart person on the weekends since I have never seen any during the week. The bar is great as well as the pro-shop, they have some really good deals on merchandise. The course is very neighborhood friendly as they have food trucks Thursdays, just check the website for dates. Check it out, its worth it! read more

Ironically this place is not too bad. I stopped in for a driving range experience. And was able to pop into the bar/restaurant area for a cold one. The staff was very nice and a small bucket of balls was only $5. Word on the street is they have endless Mimosas on sundays :) I will be trying this out myself next weekend Cheers read more

Guys, 3 stars is not A-OK. Played Shalimar today for the first time in a very long time today. There are pro's. Price is good. Routing of the holes is pretty interesting. Greens were in good shape and if one was able to stay on or near the fairways, there were good lies to be had. I encountered members jumping around on holes and just kind of acting like they personally owned the course. Never seen that level of arrogance at this caliber of a course before. Slow 4-some (perhaps 5 if you count the young boy that was playing sporadically) not letting groups play through. Walked in after 5 holes. read more

Just played there yesterday with my wife. It's a good course for beginners and other golf challenged people. It was in fair shape. The fairways and greens were pretty shaggy and the rough was mostly hardpan. Despite that, it was a fun round. There are a few interesting holes. The people in the clubhouse are super nice, so the after round drinks and food were great, too. Great hot dogs! read more

Ahh, Shaligusta . . . I like Shalimar. It's a fun, cheap, little 9 hole course hidden in central Tempe. Has it seen better days? Yep. Is the course in great condition? Never. Do they play classic rock over a loudspeaker by the clubhouse like you're in the movie Caddy Shack? Yep How often can you shank a ball into somebody's backyard? On 7 of the holes What are the odds of getting drilled with a ball from the range while on the first fairway? Well, I haven't been hit yet . . . . . . . . . . yet. I still like it though. Went to play footgolf with my 3 teenage boys today. What a total let-down. Over 70% of the flags are missing or not standing up to identify the holes. could not tell where the tee boxes were for each hole so was a guessing game. The place is really really run down. Fairways had lots of bare dirt and debris. We left the course early and did not finish the 18 holes out of frustration. I was planning to ask for my money back at the end of the game but the club house was already shut-down (even while people were still playing regular golf). Golf course needs a lot work. Just up the street are 2 other par 3 public golf courses (Continental Golf Course and Coronado Golf Course) which are tremendously in better condition and similar golf prices. read more

TERRIBLE. We are golfers but played foot golf, our first time at this course. The price was the same as regular golf, but the 'greens' and fairways were horrible. It appeared as though they used service roads for the foot golf course. I wouldn't mind playing here again, but they would have to discount the price by 50%. I wish there was another course that offered foot golf in the Phoenix area. The Country Club itself shows its age, and so do the patrons. It appeared to be a regular crowd at the bar and they did not seem welcoming to 'outsiders'. read more

This golf course is nothing like I've ever played before. There's a reason why the nickname of this course is shalgusta. The contours of the greens are just like the ones you see at the one and only Augusta National. It's about as pure as is gets. Shalimar is a 9 hole golf course. This is pretty perfect for the summer I would think, when you can only last outside for a few hours. It's an unpretentious, easy going, laid back golf course that has cheap drinks. You aren't coming here for luxury. This place would be perfect for my golf game since I SUCK and it's only 9 holes and like I said, cheap drinks. A good place for lessons, practicing and just hanging out. If you are not an avid golfer or prefer going to courses where you won't be judged or embarrassed of your game-- then head to Shalimar. Disclaimer *** I didn't actually play, I was just along for the fun-- this is the vibe I got and what I got from conversation from others. Let me start by saying I love getting out to play some Golf no matter what course it is. I walked on at 6:00AM this morning to Shalimar with no problems. I enjoyed my 9 hole round but there were a few downsides to my visit. I'm sure back in the day this place has some real charm. I think it has been neglected over the years though. 1. The fairways and greens were almost all in decent shape, but the surrounding areas were unkept and shabby. 2. There are essentially no cart paths all along the fairways. Instead, there are bumpy dirt paths lining the course. I wasn't expecting this and it's unusual. 3. The sprinklers had not been shut off by the time play began, and some of the tee boxes and greens were soaked and had standing water on them. Furthermore, the tee boxes were uneven and patchy. 4. I wish I could rate this course 2.5 stars, but I feel 2 is fair under the circumstances. And although summer time isn't usually the best for course conditions, they did a pretty decent job. Overall, I thought it was overpriced for 9 holes and I will be playing somewhere like continental or rolling hills the next time. However, the staff was very friendly which I always like to see. read more

Shalimar! What can I say that everyone hasn't already posted? First. It is very convenient to get to. Its literally in the heart of Tempe, accessible from the 202, 101 and us 60 freeways and easy to park ay. Next. It's a 9 hole course but NOT an executive or par 3 only course. Third. The price is great! I just saw a WINTER pass for 10 rounds first $199! Twenty bucks to play in the winter in Arizona is a great bargain. Lastly, it not a pretentious course. If you aren't tour quality or even a low handicapper, its perfectly OK! You'll see great golfers and hackers alike on this course. Along with some great entertainment like food truck night and various activities throughout the week, Shalimar has something for everyone. I've taken a number of first timers here to practice on the driving range and putting green followed by a quick 9 holes. It's a great way to get friends introduced to the game without the pressure to play well. Go hit a round at Shalimar. You'll love the old trees, generous fairways and greens and LOVE the orice. read more

Just finished a nice round of golf in the Monday night league. Craving some food. Guess what? Only happy hour food available and according to the bartender it's because the kitchen is closed on Monday for cleaning and we're lucky the cook came in to make appetizers. Interesring. Last week we saw food served. Not to us, we couldn't even get a 2nd beer. And tonight? Only way to even get appetizers is to go to the bar and order. Not happy, not happy at all. Greedy. I was hesitating on booking a tee time here but being that it was near my former high school, I figured what the heck and was the most decently priced. There is far too much going on in such a small course. You have golf carts, push carts, soccer going on that it's physically impossible to get 18 holes completed in a 4-5 hr period. It took us almost 7 hrs to play 18 holes and with the inconsiderate "soccer golf" people, just made the experience, worse. The soccer people would say snarky comments each time we tee'd off. Would kick their soccer balls each time we tee'd off to the point that the couple we played with just gave up and left. After complaining to the management, we were told that there was nothing to be done as they were paying to play as well, but it seems like people who are golfing are far more considerate than the TEENAGERS playing soccer golf. Learn respect and maybe, just maybe your reviews will go up. read more

Shalimar is a great place to get a quick 9 holes in before or after work. It is not as well manicured as Riverview (up the road a few miles), and it's a lot shorter, but it has a few interesting holes. The most popular is the 5th hole, which requires a carry over a lake to get to the green. It's a great value. Last I played, it was just $7 to walk.
