I guess it's been two years since I've been here, so an update is in order: The freshness, quality, and flavors continue to be great. No more sandwiches, but I got Shawarma in a plate, and was not disappointed! All the yummy veggie dishes (cabbages and cucumber/parsley) were there, as well as the delicate hummus. Loads of tasty shawarma as you can see in the takeout container pic. There's also rice (not sure if saffron was used to color it yellow) underneath all the meat, which balanced out the flavors in everything else. Pita was soft and comforting as usual. ***Pita chips are so addicting, portions are generous, salads go well with the falafel wraps*** This place is had been on my radar for a while, however its Town location prevent it from being a weekly eatery. That being said it's worth the trek (for those who don't live close by). I ordered the falafel wrap which is enough for 2 people. My kids (and myself) can't get enough of the pita chips that come with hummus, and my wife enjoys the grilled eggplant goes well with the Israeli salad. We usually find ourselves trekking to a near by park and eating there. Would be great if they had some tables, however I understand that in Town it's a premium for smaller joints. Still my favorite cheap eats spot on the island. The SHALOHA Plate ($20.70) will always be my go-to since it has a little bit of everything and I swear that plate weighs the same as a newborn baby LOL, but the last visit my friend and I also got an order of the falafel pita sandwich ($15) which was STUFFED to the brim with hummus, tabbouleh, Israeli salad, red and white cabbage, amba sauce, falafel, tahini and a meat of your choice. My favorite parts of the SHALOHA Plate are the eggplant which is super soft, and the shawarma. It also comes with schnitzel, falafel, hummus, turmeric rice with tabouleh, Israeli salad, red and white cabbage, hummus, and 2 pita. If you show your student ID you also get a free side of pita chips and hummus which are literally my favorite thing - sometimes I go just to get an order of these! the hummus is so creamy, and the pita chips are perfectly fried with a nice crunch & chew to them. read more

Pretty good Mitterrandian food for a reasonable price, at least in these inflationary times. Highly recommend ordering the Shaloha plate for about $20 (they raised their prices like everyone else) and see what you like the best. The eggplant is the best of the bunch, they do an excellent job bringing out the natural flavors of the eggplant without overwhelming it with herbs and spices. Mostly importantly, it's grilled enough but not dried out, as you will see below. Will probably order this dish from now on, yes it's that good. The schnitzel was a little disappointing, the meat was sliced too thin and dry and drowned with flour. The falafel was better, but again too dry, admit this is a hard thing too pull off. At least the hummus was really good to offset some of this. The pita chips was ok, just a little disappointed ours came out a little soggy and not as crispy as it should. But can see why folks like this. A bit of a warning, the parking lot is on the small side and could be a challenge when it's busy, may have to park in the neighborhood. read more

Maybe that's why there is sauces, but those were pretty mild also. - The chicken "katsu" was cooked perfectly. OMG, we tried this place and let me tell you--Soo Delicious. I didn't realize how much I have missed Mid Eastern food and in particular, Falafel pita sandwiches. They are huge, fresh and tasty and the portion is worth the price. We also tried the Shaloha plate was a great way to try everything and we loved the crispy fried schnitzel as the meat was moist and marinated. I also loved the eggplant and the falafels. I went with one of their catering packs that had chicken, falafel, grilled eggplant, and a salad tray with 4 varieties, plus hummus, bread, and some fiery hot sauce. Perfect choice - there was something for everyone. I ate hummus and cucumber salad with za'atar pita chips for 3 meals over 2 days, it was that good. Shaloha Pita is located on Waialae Street, across from St. Louis School/ Chaminade University. Since this was our first time here, I decided to order the Shaloha Pita Plate ($18) because it comes with a little of everything (literally). However I just went there and I am so disappointed... the vegetable pita sandwich was & just under $17 and the size was 20% less of what it use to be .,. And for some unknown reason and an egg was on top and French fries hidden in my veggie sandwich . Bad addition to my sandwich!!! I have ordered numerous times from here same thing never an egg. Funny thing is that I'd been here before years back with a coworker but didn't order anything that time. This time, the wife and I each got shaloha plates to sample everything. We also got plates for my parents. Everything was delicious. Mediterranean veggie dishes are like Korean veggie dishes to me.... they are so good, I could eat them everyday. And this is coming from someone who hates veggies. My top 3 faves on the plate were the schnitzel, pita bread/hummus, and that purple slaw/cabbage. But again everything was great. Tiny, quite dirty space with NO space to eat inside or outside. NO parking. Horrible and rude customer service, could not even be bothered to give a simple smile or hello.
