My dogs grooming was fantastic. The only problem with our experience was that, a week before my dog's appointment, I walked in and asked for a price quote. I was asked my dogs weight, I told her what I wanted done and was quoted $120.00. Today I dropped off and when I picked my dog up, the charge was $160.00 plus tax. I very politely said that she had quoted me $120.00 and she opened her book and said well, that wasn't for a full groom and that price wasn't $120. Well, I have their business card with $120 written in it. I didn't want to argue so I paid but I won't be back. Just make sure you double check the price before you take your dog to be groomed here. I went here because they use to groom both of my other dogs and I never had any problems. Too bad as my pup looks fantastic but not an unexpected $40 fantastic. read more

I recently took my 2 dogs in for a much needed trim as a new customer, and wow! Steve was the groomer for for both dogs and I could not be more satisfied. He was very attentive to their needs and my expectations. My dogs usually have an issue with going to the groomer, (like most) and Steve was very sweet and friendly about the situation. If I can give this place NEGATIVE star I would! My poor cockapoo came in and got shaved. It is the winter season I do not want my poor puppy to be shaved and doesn't have enough fur to keep him warm. Whoever did his grooming really mess up his hair. I've been here for 2 years and every time I go here is a hit or miss! My husband just came back with my cocker spaniel after I dropped her this morning for grooming and she came totally butchered!! I am so upset. I specifically requested a Cocker Spaniel hair cut with no skirt and they shaved all of her hair. Last time I took her there they did gave the haircut I requested and I was pleased, but now I can't believe my eyes. When I called to find out what the hell happened the receptionist told me that they did what was on her card, which is from the first time I took her there... they said oh well sorry...we did what the card said not what I specifically requested. All the receptionist said was "next time we will do it the way you requested not what the card says" Really? For the amount of money that you pay (which I don't mind paying because I expect the best quality of service) I would have wish at least that they would have tried to make it better. They did not own for what they did to my dog and now I have to wait several months until the hair on my dog's legs grow back long enough to look like a Cocker Spaniel...if I wanted such a horrible cut I would have done it myself for the amount of money that I pay for grooming services. There is no excuse for the damage done to my dog and they did not stepped up to try to make it better. I guess they feel that they have enough business in the area to care about screwing up once or twice. Very disappointing since I thought they were very professional. I would have expected that the owner would have personally spoken to me. I would not go back and I won't recommend this place to anyone based on this experience. Hi Belzie B, Curious what breed you have? We have been taking our dog to Shampooch for years, and I know many of the other clients who have also been long time customers. This is one of the best grooming shops in the tri state region. The owner is hands on, and always attentive to the pets as well as their owners. There are many dogs who pull back right before they walk in the door because most don't like taking a bath. Perhaps yours was feeling the same way. I find it hard to believe your dog was treated the way you describe, and it is ashame you have posted a poor review. Shampooch has been in business for over 22 years, and very successful. All business owners know they can't please everyone......you seem to be one of them. You should give them another try...... read more

Not only are they great groomers and really caring about the dogs they care for They know each personality, theyare lots of fun! Just to stop by and look at the window is great fun. They constantly change the window display and it always is great.Yesterday it was "WII - NER" DOGS and I had to look at it for a few minutes untill I realized the dogs were playing WII-FI and there was even a TV with them on it (OK, you have to drive by & see what I mean!)...OK, back to the dogs, they do a great job with them, they know how to deal with each one personally. The shop is spotless and they have a great selection of treats, foods and Dog clothes (Yes I said that) plus fun gifts like the stuffed "Starbarks" mug that I kept for my self for a long time. My friends dog Romeo, who is the greatest dog I know always comes outl looking fantastic! & I think he agrees since he seems to walk with a special swagger! ... I'M COOL AND GOOD LOOKING AND I KNOW IT !!! The other plus is they are right next to Sage Deli ( another review) so you can drop off you dog and pick up your roast beef sandwich at the same time! We bring our dog, Teddy (a soft coated wheaten terrier), regularly to Shampooch for grooming! He is happy when he gets there and is happy when he leaves! They do a wonderful job with grooming and we are always satisfied with Teddy's new haircut! We routinely select the aromatherapy and dental options and they do a fantastic job! We've also tried up the pick up service which works out well for those who are unable to drop off their pets during their drop-off hours. Shampooch is pricey, but, in our opinion, it is well worth it! read more

Much like the other bad reviews, I brought my cavapoo in and after barely looking at her, the male receptionist and a groomer told me they were going to cut her hair short. I was worried because they called her extremely matted, and my entire family knew for a fact she was not. I called them soon after leaving to express my concern, during which the receptionist said verbatim: "don't worry, we aren't going to shave her to the skin, it'll be longer on the tops and the sides it won't be bad like you think it will." However, I was horrified to pick my dog up and find her to be exactly the opposite of what he said. Shaved to the skin, completely unevenly, especially during the cold winter. I was appalled that he lied directly to me, especially considering she was not matted to warrant shaving in the first place. I will never bring her back here, they clearly just wanted to shave her from the second we walked in. If you have a dog with similar hair, stay far away, clearly this is a consistent pattern based off of the other negative reviews as well. read more

They do not know how to groom a cocker spaniel. The shaved my dog and said he was matted. He was not matted, he has hot spots and goes after them. I get him groomed every 4-5 weeks. My usual groomer had a fire and I decided to give Shampooch a try. Worst mistake. My poor dog looks absurd! read more

they don't even deserve a star. i brought my dog in today and soon as i gave him to the lady, he instantly tried to hold down his weight as in saying "no, i don't want to go with her!" she literally had to drag my dog inside. when we picked him up we then find a choky. the choky they used on my dog was so tight that it left his poor neck with a red mark. what type of groomers treat peoples pets like this! now i understand why my dog doesn't like this place. they obviously treated him badly. never taking him back again. who wastes money just so these inconsiderate assholes mistreat my dog. terrible. read more
