So after doing research discovered that sugaring is being used at some places instead of waxing. Found several places in Columbia that uses sugaring but couldn't get an appt so ended up going here. Place: located in the Vista. Easy to find, metered parking. The inside is very well laid out and decorated. A nails technician works there too. They perform other things besides sugaring. Mabel: she was the lady that gave me my sugaring. She made the experience easy enough while being in such a vulnerable and embarrassing position. She stated that she had almost 12 years at what she does. I was hesistant about her application but she reassured me and did not did twice into the sugar. If necessary she used a new glob. She was very professional. Experience: PAINFUL. This was my first experience in such a tender area. I have have my eyebrows threaded and waxed several times but this pain was different. She assured me that new waxers state it is painful the first few times but as you adjust you adapt. I guess this is true b/c i can get my eyebrows done without a muscle twitch. I would fore warn newbies to take 2 pain relievers at least before going like Tylenol or something. During she applied baby powder b/c i was sweating so much. The sugaring felt warm and applied easily. Afterwards i made sure to wash in the store any excess. When she was finished I love the results. It was smooth and soft. Some reddened areas but she applied a special lotion to prevent breaking out. She even went over how to care for the area. The room: was clean and new sheets applied after I was through. All her products looked well care for. The only thing I didn't like was the positioning of the doorway, once she had to answer a call and when she exited I was left exposed when she opened the door. Also, I wish it had thicker walls b/c I could here her and the client before me clearly while I was in the waiting area. At home: the hair didn't return for almost 4 weeks and my skin wasn't irritated at all. I would definitely do it again, with her or a different facility I'm not sure yet. Price: I pay $55 for student discount but the services are pretty pricey.

Columbia does not have many noteworthy spa locations so my fingers and toes were crossed for OCCO and they did not disappoint. All the staff I interacted with was really lovely. I booked a 60-minute massage and was required to pay 50% of the cost upfront to secure my appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 3:45 PM, and I arrived at 3:40 PM -- FIVE MINUTES EARLY. I have proof of my arrival time. Despite arriving early, I stood at an empty front desk for approximately 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. When someone finally came out, I was actually asked if I had told them I was going to be late. I was there before my appointment time. My massage did not begin until approximately 4:10 PM, meaning the appointment started roughly 25 minutes late. The massage ended promptly at 4:45 PM, and I have proof of the time I left. Based on those times, I received only approximately 35 minutes of massage time for a service I booked and paid for as a full 60-minute massage. To be very clear: I was not late. I arrived early. I did not cause this delay. Yet I was the one who lost a significant portion of the service I paid for. And unfortunately, this wasn't even the first warning. One of my girlfriends had previously gone here and specifically told me to watch the clock because she booked a 90-minute massage and only received approximately 55 minutes. I now understand exactly what she was talking about. I booked this massage because I was already in pain, and after waiting for my appointment to begin, I received significantly less than the 60 minutes I paid for and walked out STILL HURTING. I find this completely unacceptable. If you're going to require customers to pay 50% upfront, then you should have enough respect for those customers to actually provide the service they paid for. Your scheduling issues should not become the customer's loss of time and money. And before anyone tries to dispute my timeline, I have documentation showing that I arrived at 3:40 PM and documentation showing that I left at 4:45 PM. I will be submitting that proof along with this review. I cannot prove the exact moment the massage began, but I can say that it did not begin until approximately 4:10 PM, and the massage ended promptly at 4:45 PM. This was not what I paid for. I left feeling ripped off, disregarded, and still in pain. Customers should not have to arrive early, wait for an establishment to get their appointment started, and then lose a substantial amount of the service they paid for. I would absolutely NOT recommend this establishment to anyone. If you decide to go anyway, watch the clock and document everything.

I've delayed writing this review because I hate to relive it in the memory of what transpired. I asked for a haircut and for my highlights to be retouched. I explained how it was important that they be as close to my scalp as possible and that I needed to be within regulations for my job. In the span of 4 hours, I got the worst lived in roots, worst job I've ever received in my life. Besides her being rough as hell on my head and hair (like combing it and ripping my hair through), the job was so insanely messy. I'm use to stylists being careful and clean when handling my hair and head but I can't stress enough this was the worst treatment. My forehead, neck, and ears were stained from how messy they were and instead of cleaning up after themselves they just said "it's just hair dye." as in I was being dramatic, but I have never paid a high amount of money to walk out with my skin irritated and died from their unprofessionalism. We spoke about color and I told him that eventually I was going to go blonde and I was working with Ulta to eventually get there but for now I just needed the highlights to reach my scalp because I had an inch of new hair growth that I needed to cover. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, they tried to weasel out of it by saying it was my fault for not having a picture. So they literally didn't communicate that they didn't understand the assignment and did whatever the heck they wanted. and the only reason it took four hours was because they were working on four other people while they were working on me. I've never had a stylist leave me to go work on somebody else. So for $360 my hair ended up fried. I've never left a salon with wet fried hair where I've had to hide it. My sergeant ended up telling me that I was out of regulation and needed to go dye it immediately. I had no choice, but to dye my hair black from box dye. This has been by far so traumatizing, having to go back in there and ask for a refund where they continue to say that it was a miscommunication on my part, even though when I told them what I wanted, they kept saying things like " we're gonna get you right". The one lady who worked on me was rude and never realized how distraught I was. She kept blaming me for her bad work. The manager who I guess was being taught by this lady basically repeated what I had been trying to say, which I appreciated, but said I could return tomorrow and get it fixed. Not only had I already wasted four hours with them, but they wanted me to continue and my Sergeant was not having any of that. My hair is ruined now and my efforts in going blonde...
