Chris determined that we just needed a new radiator and thermostat, and charged us a very good price.

So my suspension was making some odd noise and my tire was wearing out early. Originally took it to an alignment shop on Broadway next to Chevron. That guy gave me back my Toyota w the steering wheel cocked to the left just to drive straight. Took it right back. Now my tire is doing the exact same thing. Went back again and he tells me to take it to a general mechanic to figure out if I need a tie rod or not. Anyways I just saw Shack and he let me know my bearings in my axle are bad, yeah the one I got from AutoZone. So he basically told me to replace the axle first then come back for an alignment. To be honest I was willing to pay him for the alignment today but he didn't push or suggest it. You talk about an honest and reputable location! This is it.

I then called another mechanic that had serviced my car in the past, only to find out he was booked. I was under a time crunch and wanted to get my brakes taken care of that day; my solution was to turn to Yelp. I found B&B Tire and gave them a call. They said to stop by and indeed I did. They were friendly, efficient and honest. I was told my rear brake pads needed to be changed soon, but it wasn't necessary that day. They fixed my front brakes and changed my wiper blades just in time for rainy season. I definitely recommend B&B.

Everything started off fine. I came in with a gash on my upper driver side tire. I gave my key to…read morethe worker at the reception desk, and he came back a little while later letting me know that after their inspection they recommended I also get the upper passenger side tire replaced as well (which to me was expected). They gave me a quote for the one damaged tire as well as for the two front tires. I thought about it and decided to get the front 2 tires replaced together. As I'm about to purchase the 2 front tires, another worker comes out and says that I need all 4 tires replaced because they are all in poor shape due to me not getting my tires rotated regularly (the part about my lack of tire rotation is true). I asked him how the quote change from 1 tire to 2 tires to 4 tires in a matter of minutes after my car was already inspected and I didn't really get an answer. I felt like he was trying to up sale me by telling me all my tires were almost bald. The worker then says that it wasn't inspected properly at first and he could show me how bad it is. I declined the offer to show me because my thought was, if it's so visibly bad and in poor condition, then how was it missed during the first inspection. So, I took the quote, left the store and went to the Costco Tire Center in Vallejo to compare. I told them nothing aside from mentioning the gash on my front driver side tire and they went to inspect all my tires. They came back and said that the front 2 should be replaced (also mentioned the lack of tire rotation) but said my back tires were at about 70% and didn't need to be replaced. No mention of them being almost bald or in poor shape. So, a different tone from what Les Schwab said regarding my back 2 tires. Costco had no reason to tell me that my back tires were okay if they weren't. Then, Costco gave me a quote for the front 2 tires which was only about $30 more than what Les Schwab quoted me. I went with the Costco Tire Center and will likely never return to the Les Schwab in Vallejo on Sonoma Blvd. I would not recommend them either. Trust is a big deal to me especially when it comes to my car. I don't know cars very well, and don't want to be manipulated into getting more than I need (which has occurred before). If the dishonesty and up sale doesn't bother you, then you can give Les Schwab a try. I've heard good things, but I was so disappointed and frustrated by Les Schwab and felt like they were trying to take advantage, so it's a no for me. I will say, the first guy I spoke with and the second guy I almost made the purchase with were very kind. It was only the third guy who came off as dishonest. Try at your own risk, you've been warned.

Normally I don't have an issue with the fresh meat and seafood I purchase from here (Costco Vallejo…read more#132) so this evening I bought a bag of fresh mussels ($13.50). But when I got them home, they had been in an airtight wrapper too long and were all dead. Dinner plans out the window. I immediately called the number on the receipt and spoke to a manager. I told him the situation and he told me to put them in a trash bag and bring them in for a refund. I told him I'd already thrown them in the trash and he cut me off and stated that they would only refund them if I brought them back. I told him I didn't want to hold onto rotting seafood for 24 hours before I could bring them back and he flatly told me that was my only option. Well, I'm out $13.50 and I can promise you I won't ever buy mussels from Costco again. Note to Costco Vallejo: if you're reading this, live seafood should not be stored in airtight plastic wrap for more than a few hours. Otherwise, the animals suffocate which appears to have happened in this case. Also, the manager I spoke to (7:55 pm, April 7th, 2026) was unsympathetic and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience this caused. I guess I expected too much for his version of "Customer Support".

They even put in a new engine and transmission in my 2010 Subaru Forester (my daughter killed the poor thing--long story). Well, about a year ago I took in the Subaru for a diagnosis and hopefully a repair. Unfortunately, their employee, Bryan Macias, gave me false diagnosis of the brakes needing replacement right away. The noise it had been making was due to a problem with the Catalytic converter, but a very high price for replacement. NEXT, THE EMPLOYEE OFFERED TO BUY THE SUBARU FROM ME FOR FAR LESS THAN WHAT I HAD PUT INTO IT FOR A NEW ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. IT WASN'T EVEN FAIR MARKET. Bryan tried to convince me that no one would want to pay more. He also charged me $150. for the "evaluation" even though I am a very good customer who has spent many thousands of dollars there. About a year later I received a reminder email...one of those, little messages that it had been a year, etc. Since I did need to take in my 2022 Honda Civic, I told Nathan what had happened. He was not happy that I had been charged the $150, said that it is tough to keep employees, etc. No offer to refund the $150 (To be fair, I didn't ask). Well, after speaking with him I decided to give them another chance...MISTAKE. I requested that they change the oil and find a leak that was occurring, staining my driveway and garage floor. They changed the oil in the Honda as i requested and called me for pick up. I asked "what about the leak? Oh, they hadn't looked for one. I asked them again to find the leak. They inisted everything was find and no leak existed. I am not crazy. It wasn't water/condensation, and it was staining my garage floor and driveway. Took the Honda to a Honda dealership for a recall, and the dealership found the leak, no problem. It was also still under warranty (within 100 miles of it). GREAT! Now, do I think Nathan does good work, probably. Is he honest? I believe so. Does he have good employees, NO. NO. NO. The Shop is no longer what it was. Very unfortunate.
