I'd been putting it off because finding the right shop (quality service, fair prices, honest recommendations, and not condescending) is so daunting. I enlisted my Dad who owns a dealership in LA to help me find the right Bay Area auto shop. He took the task very seriously and talked to 5+ shops. When he spoke with Martinez Auto Tech, he could instantly tell they were knowledgeable and they gave feedback on what was and wan't necessary for 60,000 mile service. Their prices beat out other local shops as well. When I dropped the car off they were able to take care of everything in one day (spark plugs, oil change, CVT drain and fill, brake flush, rear and front trans axel fluid) for under $1,000. To top it off they were so kind and happy to answer questions along the way. I never felt uncomfortable, unlikely majority of shops I've been to solo as a woman. 5 days later, our VW Golf died and wouldn't restart. I had it towed to their shop while they were closed over the weekend. I called them Monday morning to see if they could figure out what was going on. They were so accommodating and happy to squeeze me in without an appointment. They figured out it was an issue with the alternator and had the car back and running before the day was over. They didn't even charge me for charging up the car since I had just done my Subaru service. I really appreciate a small, local business that values their customers. This was such an act of kindness that I won't forget. I'll never service my cars elsewhere as long as I live in this area and will always recommend them to anyone - especially if you aren't a car expert and need honest guidance and recommendations. My family member recently brought their car there despite me saying not to and now there are several new issues with her car. On top of the new issues Son filled her tires to 50 psi when it clearly states on the tire and the door it's only supposed to be at 35 psi. I think he's too overworked to really take his time to do a good job. Do yourself a favor and don't go here.

I brought the car in and he told me I didn't need new brake pads for a long time and actually called Les Schwab and spoke with them too. That's when I knew I would be a customer for life since I live in Martinez. It's hard to find honest people these days! I've brought my car back for several tuneups - oil change prices are also better than the local oil change locations. I also had my transmission replaced and eventually my brake pads replaced. They always finish the work on time and are really nice people. You do get a discount if you can pay in cash.

The price was a little shocking as I was expecting to pay more (and yes they did use OEM parts)! Surely cost-wise, service-wise, and people-wise, they are much better to deal with than Porsche themselves. That's exactly the kind of service that I like to do when I work on my vehicles myself. I needed to have the brakes flushed on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The price that was quoted was less than the dealership wanted, and was very fair. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to drop me off and pick me up from the local coffee shop, where I was able to work while the service was being done. When we got back to the shop, he showed me the brake test that was performed, as well as showed me some of the other cool vehicles in the shop. I am already in the process of booking a service for another one of my vehicles here, and see no reason for me to look anywhere else in the foreseeable future.

When I went to the dealer, they quoted really high price and added a bunch of unnecessary services. I was able to get an estimate from Vuong which was much more affordable, and it was great to be able to text back and forth to make sure I'm only getting the services I really needed. It was also super easy to make an appointment. They were able to get me in and out in the same day even with all the difference things being done to my car. It was also really convenient that they have after hours dropoff available. You just park your car in their lot, and they have a safe place to drop off your keys. This was helpful because I had some work meetings I had to take in the morning at the time they opened, so I was able to go in before they opened and drop off my car.
