New to Caroline's Salon only because my barber Harold moved over here. I'd follow this guy anywhere but this salon, wow! Its really nice in there and its Laffayette around a bunch of places to eat. I feel i'm a little spoiled because i've been getting my haircut by Harold for many years. It's so great to sit in his chair and chat it up without having to tell him what i want, he just does it. He really takes his time with his cuts and you never feel pressured to be squeezed in between customers. The hot shaving cream, straight razor, and aftershave is awesome. If that wasnt enough, you get a nice shoulder massage at the end! If you haven't got a true "Gentlemen's Haircut", from a real old school style barber, you must do it! He was ready to go as soon as I got there. I gave him my idea for a cut (which was vague at best), and he not only made it clear what we were about to do but also made sure he knew how I like to do my hair every day, what kind of product I use, and how often I get my hair cut. The hair cut was relaxing, he took his time to make it right but he didn't take too long. We had great conversation the whole time. When I moved away from my old babrer I looked for a new barber for almost 3 years. I gave any shop that had decent reviews at least 2 chances for a good cut. Then I found Harold! I've been cut by some of the best barbers in the Bay area. I put Harold right up there with the best of them. Most barbers have techniques that they excell in and favor. And they stick with those techniques regardless of the type of head or cut (some don't even own scissors). Not harold. He is very skilled and very versatile. I get a pretty basic fade but its always a great fade and he still gives me the time and attention as more complicated cuts. He occasionally will suggest little details to change it up and give it a little more style. As a bonus, the barber conversations are always good. He's a huge Dubs/hoops head. read more

I'm a guy and I went to Caroline's to receive a haircut from the barber Harold T. Yabut. Harold is my go to guy for getting premium haircuts. He is probably one of the best barbers in the east bay. I looked for many years before I found someone of his caliber. He sculpted my hair like a surgeon using a number of different trims and precision scissors. He finished the session by gelling my hair in stylish way and providing a good old fashion electric back rub. The area is pleasant and the salon looks super high end. Even though it's mostly female stylists I did not feel out of place as a guy. So if you're a guy looking for a barber I highly recommend Harold.
